Buyer beware. Shrimp tacos were a bust. Shrimp was undercooked and tempura batter was still liquidy. On a positive note, The service was friendly and attentive.

The drinks were amazing and the food was more than two people could eat. Moreover, the service was phenomenal. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend it!

Came here on a Friday night cause we wanted to have a drink & eat something small. It was not crowded but since it was only two of us we shared a long table by the bar area with another group of girls. No biggie but the service we got was horrible. Only three servers that night. So our waitress was going back & forth with her sections of tables. When we were ready to get our check, so we can pay & leave. Approx time it took about 25 mins just to get our check from our server and that’s only because we went to track her down. When we were leaving the hostess asked how was everything. We told her what happen about our waitress. She apologize and even offer to buy us a drink. We were so ready to go that we refused a free drinks but thank her for the offer. She gave us her business card and mentioned thst the next time we come in, ask for her so she can buy us a drink. Turns out she was the night manager. Overall experience: The food was ah okay nothing to really brag about. The portion was decent, not big or small. My Taco was not worth $ 4.5 since I can go to a taco stand for the same portion for $ 1.50– $ 2. The menu was only one page Prices are decent $$ remember you are in DTLA so with drinks, appetizers, and a meal you will spend about $ 70– $ 85.

I was invited to a birthday dinner party at this restaurant. I usually do not like to go into downtown due to the traffic but I decided that I would attend and I was very happy I did. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly! I tried the Steak frites(hope I’m not spelling this wrong) and it was amazing! The siting arrangements were a bit uncomfortable because we were somewhat of a large party but I did see that they have booths so I will try that next to time. The menu is not like most restaurants and is quite small in comparison but it does not disappoint! I will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.

Excellent place to get dinner in downtown LA. Parking — valet only, cash only, $ 9. I was fortunate enough to sample new menu items that they were rolling out, the items I tried were as follows: Fried guacamole, freshly fried tortilla chips — this was pretty good, an interesting twist to traditional guacamole, with the slightly fried crust on top. Watermelon and burrata –watermelon was sweet and crisp, burrata dolloped on top was creamy. Carne Asada tacos, garnished with a cute fried quail egg on top made for a beautiful bite, carne asada was nicely seasoned and very tender. Fresh baked jalapeño cornbread came in cauldrons, a bit hard to get out of the cauldron it was baked in but really liked the serving I got — I could always use more jalapenos in my life. Loved the steak frites — fries were addictive and steak was rubbed with a decaf coffee dry rub(thoughtful for not getting me buzzed at night!). The pork chop with risotto was nice as well, expertly cooked and very juicy. Panna cotta for dessert was a highlight as well, a nice twist on a familiar favorite. Friendly service and delicious food in a great comfy location downtown, what’s not to like?

I was pleasantly surprised with my experience here. At first glance the menu seems very confused with mostly Mexican style food such as tacos and nachos but then with popcorn shrimp. I came with a group of 4 for lunch and we shared the duck nachos, burrito, popcorn shrimp and pork tenderloin. I also got a drink called strawberry fields. Everything minus the pork tenderloin was very good and very large portions. The pork came last and we almost forgot about it since we were full already. Unfortunately the pork was very overcooked, hard and dry. Looking forward to coming back and trying something else next time.

FOH is a nice new restaurant in Downtown LA. I tend to eat at the same places there so this is a nice addition. My favorite dishes included the carne asada tacos, the uni pasta, the pork, and the steak frites. The meat dishes are delicious and the uni pasta is loaded with uni and topped with crab meat. If you come in a bigger group, you’ll get to try more dishes since they’re meant to be shared. Service is great and this would be a wonderful location to host any sort of event. Parking is valet downstairs for $ 10 or street parking.

This is definitely a great place to chill after a day of work and wanting to hang out in a relax and welcoming environment. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the host; as we’re escorted to our table, I can’t help but be excited of our meal – this is based off of the décor, haha! I know I can’t be the only one – as we’re getting to our table, I’m hoping that this restaurant doesn’t fail us because I so badly want the food to be as good as the interior looks and feels: D It did not disappoint! The BF and I aren’t much drinkers so can’t say much about that other than I found it neat that their drink menu is laid out according to the taste you’re craving – sour, sweet, bitter, etc… First dish I have to mention is the Jalapeño Cornbread w/honey butter – uh, YUM! It was served in a deep pot, kind of a hassle to get out but the actual dish was a delight – crumbly or not, haha! I don’t eat red meat, but according to the BF, their Steak Frites(served w/fries, which I did eat and they were awesome – yes, there are such things as bad fries) and Carne Asada Tacos were on point! The Steak Frites had a decaf coffee rub on them… times like these I wish I ate red meat. The coffee is decaf to accommodate those who may not prefer or cannot have caffeine in their diet – so considerate! And, if I were to go by sight, the tacos looked delish(confirmed by the BF that it is). Though, I didn’t eat the meat portion, I did eat the over-easy quail egg that was served on top. Then, there was the Three-Finger Pork Chop… can I please have all my pork chops this texture forever? Haha! It wasn’t chewy, it was perfection! It wasn’t dry, it was juicy! For those who love spiciness, I added Sriracha… I felt like it was kind of wrong, but I just couldn’t help it… I LOVESRIRACHA! Haha! Overall, definitely check this place out! Good place to meet up w/friends or for date night. Made me feel so hip… and not like the homebody I usually am: P Check out more details of my experience on my blog at .

The food here is absolutely amazing and offers different flavors and dishes from other restaurants here in LA. The atmosphere is a great combination of lounge/bar/country restaurant which makes it feels modern and hipt but at the same time relaxed. This is one of my favorite restaurants here in LA and I cant get enough of the Popcorn Shrimp and Creamy Brussels sprouts. Always a good time here — can absolutely recommend this place!

I stopped in here for a late lunch. I honestly did not know it was there. I happened to walk by and see it. Due to the time between peak meal times it was slow. That worked out ok because I appreciated the peace and quiet. I sat down at the bar since it was just me. I was not feeling to adventurous so I just ordered the Carne Asada Quesadilla. In hind sight I rushed through the menu. I completely missed the Queso Fundido. That is always a favorite, and I will return to try their version of it. The quesadilla was solid. It was loaded with cheese and carne asada. It came topped with pico but it did not come with any salsa or sour cream. The flavor was ok, but it needed some kind of condiment for moisture and flavor. They brought sour cream at my request and that helped. To be clear, the quesadilla was good. It just could have been better. The service was ok. It was slow so everyone seemed to be trying to cut out. That left the bartender scrambling to get things done. I will definitely return to try more things on the menu. They have some interesting sounding items that I look forward to trying.

Came here during lunch with some coworkers. The place was super cute but wasn’t super busy. Waitress was really nice and seated us right away. My coworker and I both ordered the beet salad and my other coworker got the Chicken Burrito. One disappointing thing was no chips and salsa while you wait! For me, that’s kinda expected for a Mexican restaurant. We did get the brussel sprouts as an appetizer and that was delicious! The beet salad was good — but it was ALLBEETS and no lettuce. Luckily I added chicken to it and my coworker got beef, otherwise it would have been a bit much. I still would have preferred some lettuce but oh well. It was still tasty and I would definitely come back.

Not so much, FOH. The lunch prices are enraging($ 16 burrito, $ 19 kale caesar with chicken, $ 22 chicken breast entrée). I wouldn’t really hold it against a place, but can we all just agree that there is something inherently annoying about calling a cuisine«modern Mexican?» …That shiz is glorified taco truck food. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but adding the word«modern» and replacing good olé asada with duck on nachos($ 18 btw) isn’t fooling anyone. The burrito I had(photo attached) was really mediocre and about 60% rice. The only thing modern about that thing was the price tag. I needed hot sauce(because the rice wasn’t really flavorful) and they brought me two different kinds — none of which was spicy or flavorful enough to save this burrito for me. I had been here several other times for lunch and the prices were substantially lower and the menu selection more interesting. The current lunch menu isn’t very good. The service was good and the décor is very nice, it’s a huge space and you can tell somebody sunk a lot of money into fixing it up. At this price, I much prefer the flavors of something like Border Grill

Solid 4 stars. Tried their happy hour, was never offered to sit down at a regular table, not sure why but we sat across the bar. Our host and server all smiles, place wasn’t full at all. This is the 4th restaurant in the same space, Hamburger Hamlet, Flower Street Café and most recent Maria’s Italian Kitchen. Layout has been the same but every restaurant had their own style. So sat down, looked at the short options on the Happy Hour menu and started with Dos XX beer and a few items from the food section, ordered Popcorn Shrimp, Seafood Tacos & FOHappy Burger. Popcorn Shrimp was outstanding, crispy breaded shrimp with a nice glaze. Seafood Tacos were with Shrimp instead of Cod and the thinly sliced jicama gave it a nice touch. FOHAPPY Burger is a very nice thick piece of Angus on a soft roll with Pork Belly Slice, the burger was so good we ordered a second portion, I only wish it was more crispy(pork). Tried their ceviche as well and it was alright, kinda dry so make sure to order more limes, the octopus and shrimp are a great blend but maybe I’m use to having my ceviche with a bit more jugo(juice). Not sure if this place has a full menu, or they were not ready yet, but hope to return soon enough and try their other offerings. Glad it’s in the area as a tasty food option.

Deeeelish I love the Rustic ambiance that is FOH– Front of the House, a term used importantly in the restaurant world, per explained by one of the co owners Jason. Its apparent everything around the restaurant was carefully thought out– perhaps its because the owner originally resides in Houston, Texas in which where the amazing and original atheistic probably came from. Sliding rusted doors and old school piano that is probably telling its patrons — «hey we’re hipsters and musical too! « To the food and the wonderful libations we go. «Winter is coming»…is the drink I ordered first, with Game of Thrones reference and the word chocolate, I just had to try it! Unfortunately for me, someone who can’t really handle her liquor or like the quire taste of liquor I had to switch it out to «Morning Cartoon» which was def. way up my alley — Vodka, coffee Liqueur Cinnamon Toast Crunch Infused Cream it was a better version of a White Russian. Needless to say that one drink got me on a good morning buzz! Appetizers– I had the Brussel Sprouts — very mayonnaise-y I think it was meant to share as a whole one for myself was a bit too much but perfect on first bite! Entrée I go the Truffle Spaghetti with truffle, olive oil, parmesan cream. Very thick and heavy but anything with truffle shavings is bound to make any one smile! I also tried the Grilled Tofu with red-wine reduction, grilled vegetables– i felt like the red wine might of made the tofu a bit too sweet and isn’t particularly a favorite of mine. Dessert– Churro Chip– similar to churro but made with chips? I think this dessert was just okay to me but can’t wait to go back to try other options! Parking is $ 9 cash at the parking structure next door to FOH — but if your Super duper lucky you’ll might find street parking somewhere.

I had a lovely experience at FOH(Front of the House). This establishment is a Mexican fusion type restaurant with a rustic ambiance. I had the seafood cerviche as an appetizer, FRESH and generous portions of octopus and shrimp. Add a little bit of lime to give it an extra flavor. I had a bite of the brussel sprouts and I’m not quite sure what sauce was in there, but it made eating vegetables delightful because brussel sprouts can be bitter, but FOH’s mixed it well. My favorite part of my meal was the pork belly in poblano cream. The pork was tender, but the poblano cream made for a good pairing. I was literally licking the bowl clean because of this cream. I scooped some spanish rice into the cream and that went well together. For dessert, I went with the Bunuelos, which is a churro, but with a twist. It’s chip-like, thin, and drizzled with condensed milk. It was a good balance to my meal. Service was fantastic. Their ambiance is set for a date place or a casual hang out. It wasn’t too dark inside. Restrooms are upstairs in the back. I’ll definitely be back in the near future!

One of the favorite dishes I ordered here was the octopus ceviche. WOW, talk about octopus overload! There was so much octopus on here! It was so perfectly marinated and the octopus was very fresh. Lots of shrimp too! The cocktails here were delicious and very strong! Very good service! There is valet and street parking available if you are willing to walk!

My two friends and I went to FOH over DineLA and were excited to see how this place would turn out to be. Cool and totally worth it menu items but execution wise? Ah, that’s where the problem lies: Serranito Sashimi: please tell me who cuts your fish and why do you let him? It’s too thick and all are uneven. Taste wise? I could make that at home and cut sashimi like a sushi chef and just pour ponzu over the way that FOH«creatively» did. Leche de Tigre: I honestly didn’t know if they decided to turn the sauce into soup and why they still bothered serving chips with, well, soup that lacks so much flavor. Grilled Octopus: Who the hell plated this ugly entrée? Who also cooked it? I can’t believe that FOH allows their customers to eat a bland and completely rubbery piece of garbage that they claim is octopus. I mean, you already left it on the grill too long and neglected to season it during the time it was on the grill to the point where you played it so yes, complete rubbish. The quinoa whatever that accompanied the octopus did nothing either but confirmed the fact that this entire plate was rubbish. Deconstructed brownie: ok, good flavors which kind of shows me the direction you were leading towards but once again, who plated this?! Insane how you could allow a plate like this to be served. My friends had the lobster tamale and chicken as an entrée the lobster tamale had so little lobster in it that it really shouldn’t be considered a «lobster» tamale and the chicken was such a disgrace — think, two star hotel food. I think the FOH mule(drink) was the only thing that was good about this entire experience. If I really had to go back to FOH I would only come back for the drinks. The design of the restaurant was great as well but dude, you’re a restaurant — maybe focus on the food rather than the décor more. Ok?

Even though I know FOH is suppose to be for pronounced F.O.H.(Front of the House) I can’t stop calling it phở! It’s a modern restaurant and bar that appears to be stuck between two larger buildings. You can miss the entrance pretty easily. I came here twice and I must say they their happy hour food is pretty legit. The FOH burger is huge and had a ginormous mushroom in it. Their take on tacos are surprisingly good. Instead of serving the tacos on a corn tortilla they use a thin slice of jicama. This works great with a fried fish/shrimp because it makes it taste lighter. Their happy hour drinks are pretty standard for downtown. Their FOH mule is not your standard Moscow mule. The taste at first threw me off, but it was still very refreshing! I really want to give this place 5 stars, but I can’t just yet. The service was a little bit slow. They had one bar tender serving the entire restaurant on a Friday night. We had to flag down the wait staff every time we needed something.

Had the pleasure of going to downtown to check out the new FOH for DineLA. Unlike everyone else, I had no trouble finding parking at 8pm on a Monday so cannot comment on that fiasco. At first, you see the sign for a steakhouse before FOH. Pass that sign and you will see FOH. Cool ambiance– wooden interior, a foosball table, a piano. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Service was extremely friendly. Our waitress was really nice, but clearly new(like the restaurant). Which is fine, I did not mind. Why only three stars? Because food was just okay. I was not wow’d by anything FOH had to offer. The sashimi was okay, the lobster tamales were okay, the bunuelos were not my favorite. More in depth: sashimi was lightly dressed, could have been more fresh. I could not really taste the lobster in the lobster tamales, bonus points that I didn’t have to take off the husk. Lastly, as my friend commented with the bunuelos– would have liked it better if they had a soft pillow texture or maybe a new spin on an old favorite by adding berries or something? If you’re going fusion, then everything is fair game, yea? I think my favorite item of the night was my drink– the peach-co sour. Drinks are on the pricier side of course($ 11 – 14), as expected. Would like to see how this joint changes over time.

Located in downtown LA, this newly opened restaurant was perfect for a pre-holiday party with friends. The venue has a laid back, rustic sort of feel. It’s dim and comfy inside. There’s an antique piano that gives a little bit of an artsy yet home like feel. The party was held in a little private room that has a small door that opens up to the main bar area. This is a nice way to make the room larger when more people came. They have an interesting drink menu which includes drinks with egg whites. Appetizer wise we got to try their meat platters and fries. Overall it was a nice place but I did notice service was rather slow. The place was pretty full for a Friday night and both the bartenders and waitresses didn’t seem too prepared for it. I noticed more than once people waiting around for their orders and not being attended to. This place definitely has potential and I would not mine coming back for dinner here in the future but they do need to work a bit on being prepared for large crowds.
