Non stop compliments on my haircut. I got a skin fade with a hard part and beard cleaned up. Best haircut I’ve ever had, spent a generous amount of time getting everything right and had me laughing in the chair. Would recommend to anyone and am definitely going back

Good vibe and good people. Most importantly good barbers. They do reservations so you are not waiting forever and pretty much everybody gives you a good cut.

This one-star review is not for the barber — he did an excellent job! It’s for the owner, who dragged me in then tried to get me to pay FIFTYDOLLARS for a men’s haircut — $ 50! I rightly gave him a look like was crazy and he’s like, «Okay, $ 35». When I was rung up, I was charged $ 45 — with a tip to the excellent barber the owner got his fifty bucks… and I will never, ever go here to get ripped off again! I wonder how much of that gross overcharge the barber sees? I gonna guess not much.

The guys that work here are all extremely professional, and the shop always has a good atmosphere. I’ve been travelling from Santa Monica to the shop for some time now after getting several terrible cuts locally so I’d definitely recommend it them.

Great spot! I’ve been in Ronnie’s chair every visit(due to recommendation) he’s great, but to be honest I’ve watched the other barbers and they seem good to me. I’ve seen customers come in and ask tons of ?‘s at the about pricing, styles, etc. Again, the whole staff is hospitable and patient– woman that works the front desk is a sweetheart. If the price scares you, please understand it’s worth it– cut, razor neck shave, wash… it’s worth it. I loved Bolt, but for the same price(no discount here), no wash, yes complimentary drinks– which Frank’s provide, maybe not same selection, but there’s places nearby where you can buy a drink if need be! To be honest the barbers weren’t as happy cause their pay was affected by the complimentary drinks for customers. I know a lot of the barbers from Bolt so I know the truth. But that’s my two cents, Frank’s is great, give it a shot and you won’t be disappointed. Still has the feel of Bolt to me, just a different look… that’s it.

my boyfriend was in bad need of a cut so we walked in while doing some shopping on Melrose a couple weekends ago. we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, which feels like an amalgamation of a sleek gallery space with a classic barber shop. it’s a clean, inviting place. the manager, Trent, was really friendly, genuine and passionate about the shop; he gave us a tour and got us set up right away. even though i didn’t need a cut, Trent took care of me and hooked me up with a beard trim, free of charge. that was done by Scotty and he did a flawless job– took his time and was meticulous in making sure everything was just right. i’ve seen the same stylist for about 10yrs and i’ll always stay loyal to him for my haircuts, but i so enjoyed Scotty’s work that i will absolutely return to him for a beard trim. like, he was just undeniably awesome and i look forward to seeing him again. my boyfriend got a cut and beard trim from Los and i was blown away by what a good job he did– legit, my man has never looked better. Los also took his time in carefully styling every hair on his head, making sure the look was absolutely perfect. to me, this is what you pay for when you get a $ 50 – 60 cut, and the fact that Frank’s fully delivered that high level of service makes them 100% worth it. my bf has already been back for a clean-up, and i know they’ve inspired a devoted customer in him. i see another review gave them three stars and doesn’t feel they’re quite at the level of Baxter Finley, which i have to mention because i couldn’t disagree more: while that was once a great shop, it hasn’t been good since Shane and Wade– the two stylists who opened it and made it special– left for The Cut By a few years ago. both Frank’s and The Cut By make Baxter Finley look like Great Clips, so there’s no competition there– like, why go to Jack in the Box when you can have Umami Burger? if you’re considering other options, that’s what i’d encourage you to keep in mind in terms of viable alternatives. anyhow– ultimately, i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Frank’s Chop Shop to any dude in a need of a fresh style. they’re a welcome addition to the neighborhood and i hope they’ll be around for years to come!

While running errands today i had the great fortune of running into Frank’s Chop Shop. With no appointment i walked in hoping for the best and low and behold it was just that! the Best! Scott Cowan introduced himself to me and what a great job he did. Was so precise with his work and took his time. Thank you Scott for your great work and see you again in a few weeks. So for anyone in the Weho area needing a great barber, look no more! Scott is your go to man!

Super happy with the service. Booked my hubby a straight edge so he can be looking sharp and clean. He’s sexy and fly but this known New York chop shop hooked him up(he’s a NYC native himself) Happy to keep it in the family. Plus they got a cool chess table(suggest playing after 3 or 4 when the suns out the window and your not cooking like a hot tamale) & a pool table that’s super cool who wouldn’t wanna kick it. Best wishes on the Grand Opening and the blessings to come! We came. We saw. We conquered. We’ll be back. Be Blessed. Baby Ballo & Bunny. Ride or Die. Do what you do and do it well!

Ronnie is the man, the price is incredibly reasonable, and shooting pool here is a pretty good time. This is my new LA spot for sure.

The Quick version, another«urban» barber shop, good cuts at a price. Not a replacement for Bolt’s hospitality and atmosphere, and needs a little work before they can truly compete with Baxter & Finley. The full version. Frank’s Chop shop follows behind Bolt’s Monkey House after the untimely passing of Mohawk Matt. Besides a change of décor, barbers, and a price increase it is much the same. I entered the shop without an appointment. Bolts homage to the old barber shop has been replaced with black and white checkered floors and edison bulb barber stations. The Bolt ski ball has been supplanted with a pool table and high fashion baseball caps from the fairfax shops. Basically new face but same game. Only without the complimentary drinks and hospitality Bolt is famous for. There were however lots of dudes hanging out shooting pool, which was reminiscent of Bolt. The shop was not busy and the nice gal behind the counter happily sat me down. Fortunately my barber was Ronnie Mccoy. I think I lucked out with him, and while I can sing Ronnie’s praises and tell you about the good conversations we had, for brevity, Ronnie is the best barber you could hope for. Besides the awesome cut that Ronnie gave me, lets get down to it. Frank’s Chop Shop charges $ 50 for a mens hair cut. Baxter & Finley charges 45 $ and Bolt Charges $ 30(25 $ with a Military discount which I appreciate) and has complimentary drinks. Franks wants to compete with Baxter & Finley(On La Cenega) and based on the cut Ronnie gave me they have a competitive chance. However, that does assume that all of Frank’s barbers are as good as Ronnie, and that has yet to be proven. Over all they are more expensive than Baxter & Finely, but the atmosphere is not as refined. They do have have similar atmosphere to Bolts but with out the hospitality, and are almost twice the price once you include tip. To make this place 4 stars I would recommend dropping the price to 30 $-40 $ as I would rather spend the difference as a tip. Throw in Military, and Student discounts and this place would be 5 stars. Complimentary drinks would be a bonus. Due to convince and the cut, this place has become my backup shop. But they have a little work before they become number 1.
