Food is only 2-star because, at the price they are charging, either the service or food should be at a medium level. Yet, neither of them was. Had some pot roast and lamb chop and sushi at the geisha house. Potroast was absolutely disgusting because it’s obviously microwaved. Lamb chop is fairly descent and the sushi is only average. The service was 1 star because it took the waitress 25 mins to greet us at the table and another 10 to bring some water. And checked on us once during the meal. I had to physically look for her to get the check and leave. The ONLY good thing about this place is the interior design. And it’s the only thing I felt up to the price they are charging. Otherwise, bad food, bad service.

Food was not memorable, nor the drinks. What was memorable was the bar waitress who completely lied to us about being able to use our Groupon at an industry event. We asked to speak to the manager, who refused to come out. Finally she honored at least the happy hour price. I will Unilocal to everyone I know to skip this joint unless you want to get ripped off for mediocre sushi.

First of all, we made reservation but when we got there table is still full, they told us either we wait or sit at lounge in front of the bar. — But its all good, we only wait maybe 10−20mnts. Food– love the taste of the food. But it looks to simple for a high prices food. I ordered blackcod for 22 $ it just 1 cube pieces of fish in the middle of the big plate. My suggestion maybe u can add some 2 side orders on the side like veg, corn, potato or any to make like its worth it for us to pay that much. The service is very pleasant so far. For the parking, it is disapointing we still have to pay 10 $. We thought big restaurant can at least provide parking for the customer. But anyway we do thanx the Geisha house to give good deal on Groupon so we can see, try, and explored inside The Geisha House. We will be back cause i like the food eventhough he complaint of the parking and the wait. Lol.

Every time I have come here I have had a very good experience with the food, drinks and service. I would prefer it to have better lighting instead of club type lighting so I can see better but it does offer privacy not having the entire place lit up. It’s not far from Hollywood and Highland so take the Red Line Station if you are lucky like me and have easy access to our Metro system.

Upscale and trendy, you bet. Expensive, no kidding! I guess I didnt’ feel I belong to the crowd there. Just too much of a club feel for a restaurant. Yeah, food was good but for the portion and price, ehhh not so much. Drinks are great! No need to go again, been there, done that.

Had the $ 25 for $ 50 Groupon. This place is what it is… it’s super trendy, super dark, very pretty and very much the scene. Except it was empty at 7 on a Thursday night. Even though the place was dead, they didn’t want to give us a booth for 2 people… we mentioned that we would like to say HI to the owner(who we do know) and suddenly, we could get a booth. Whatever. Food is OK. We got mixed tempura and a couple of rolls. They brought out the wrong cocktail(I ordered something with Midori and they brought me something with a cucumber floating in it), but they promptly replaced it after explaining they were out of Midori(who runs out of Midori?!). Service was great. This is a good place to go for the Hollywood scene and it’s really pretty… I’d go back to the bar or order apps and have a few drinks. But bring your flashlight app on your iPhone.

Food here is def sub-par and typical of what I think of when I think of Hollywood. Food is way overpriced and staff is somewhat pretentious(can we say wannabe actors and actresses?), though the décor is hip and modern. My friend and I ordered: –Grilled Chicken Yaki($ 16) — This was a very plain piece of sliced white meat chicken that came with a side of teriyaki sauce(also not that good) and some sea salt. Really? $ 16 for this? –Sauteed Vegetables w/Shrimp($ 16) — Shrimp was small in this somewhat bland dish. I ordered two drinks, which were about $ 14 each, and they weren’t as weak as I expected. I’d maybe stop by here for drinks if I were in the area, but I wouldn’t eat here again.

Geisha house is definitely one of those trendy places you go to to feel like you’re getting the«LA/Hollywood» experience. Though it’s quite popular it’s just more of a façade. The décor and ambience is what makes this place but the food is definitely lacking in excitement. It’s pretty bland though the quality of the fish itself is good. I enjoyed the Surf and Turf roll the best during my meal. It’s more of an americanized sushi place. I also feel like the waiters are overworked. It took them a while to come back to our table each time, and we always had to ask for our water glass to be refilled. Nothing to rave about. It’s just the name this place has that keeps it going. Good date place or girls night out place if you don’t mind eating subpar sushi. It’s quiet and dark. Romantic lighting and nice architecture. The iconic thing here is when you walk in there are these red lighted squares. Everyone always takes pictures there. Geisha House doesn’t come close to all the hype that surrounds it. Pretty evident because the one they tried to open in Orange County closed down after a few years of being in business.

I think for the price you can go somewhere else for better quality rolls. The last time I was there, there was a fly buzzing around our food. I do not expect that from a place like this. On the plus side the service was good, no complaints there. The overall experience was pretty negative for me.

3.5 stars. Geisha House is like a hot girl with a boring personality. If you’re all about the ambiance and the décor of a restaurant, then this place is for you! From the red pillars at the entryway to the kimono brocade on the walls, it’s 5 stars in terms of a trendy and cool atmosphere. If you’re a foodie well… you won’t be too impressed. The price is avg for downtown LA, and high compared to your neighborhood sushi restaurant. Rolls are around $ 16 and up. I don’t have any qualms paying good money for great rolls and sashimi, but Geisha House’s menu is just average at best. We ordered several rolls, and there were no memorable ones, but DONOT get any of the specials. I had the Special Lobster/Salmon roll(I thought there was no way anyone can mess this up) and my hubby ordered the spicy tuna roll special. Mine came drowned in a thick creamy sauce(mayo??) and had a strange citrus taste to it. My hubby’s roll was wrapped in cucumber and tasted mainly of mango. Two items I would recommend are the cod, and the rack of lamb. All in all, this is a cool place to stop by if you’re interested in dining in a hip, cool restaurant, but don’t expect the food to wow you. Parking: valet or across the street(the lot DIRECTLY across the entrance is $ 20, but the one right next to it is $ 10…go figure) Valet is $ 10 Ambiance and Service: 5 stars… though every time I come here the restaurant seems to get darker… wtf? Someone needs to up the dimmer switch Food: 3 stars Drinks: I recommend the Geisha’s Kiss!

I came here because I got a Google Offer coupon for $ 50. I think it was better spent on drinks than food. I went there for dinner and sat in the sushi bar. The sushi chefs were nice, but the food wasn’t all that great. We had some skewers, sushi rolls, and seared scallops. The only thing that did stood out was their stuffed avocado with crab meat dish. It looks like a dino egg filled with goodness! Other than that, I can’t say much for their mediocre food. Décor is nice and ambiance is good for a date night. I wouldn’t mind coming here for a drink, but not for dinner. Stuffed Avocado:

Came here on a Thursday night and it was pretty dead inside. Only about 4 other tables including us, it could be we ate a little early with a 6:30 dinner reservation? Who knows. Came because I bought a google offer, $ 20 for $ 50 worth of food. Pretty good deal! Considering this place is on the expensive side I felt happy I had $ 50 to spend! My boyfriend and I got 3 rolls. Believe they were the dynamite roll, spicy roof, and white samurai, a bit expensive but they were pretty good! I’m not a big raw fish fanatic but I sure liked these. Came out to exactly $ 50 at that point but we ordered Uni too. My boyfriend said the Uni was alright, not the best but not the worst he’s had. Only complaint on the rolls was they all came out together on the same big plate. We had no clue what was what or what we were eating. Another complaint is this place is SOOO dark! Probably why I had no clue what I was eating. I saw two people reading the menu with their cell phone lights. I mean a dark ambiance is nice and romantic and all but it’s a little too dark. Service was good, they always refilled our drinks and asked if everything was alright. Though I thought there geishas here haha. Maybe they only come out on the weekends? All in all this place is pretty alright. No major complaints besides the darkness and the price. A bit too expensive for what you get but it’s hollywood, you’re coming here for the scene and to be seen.

My friend had her bachelorette dinner here before hitting up the club. We were seated downstairs at a roomy cushiony booth. The waitress was really friendly and funny. I don’t remember exactly what we ordered but I do remember that everyone loved the Hollywood roll I got and that I had 2 Geisha Kisses. Geisha Kiss = the best girly yummy drink! The place was lively with a young crowd and blasted club music. This was my first time at Geisha House and I loved it! Geisha House is the perfect place for a night out without staying out all night. We will be back for girls night out or something! Quick tip: This is not the quiet, romantic place for a date! lol.

I would be lying to you if I said it was the best sushi I’ve ever had. But I would be telling you the truth if I said it was the best service I’ve ever had. I love you Josh! As far as the sushi goes, not the freshest and def. not the cheapest. We ordered the Dynamite– described as «assorted seafood» but I found it to be a mix of mush more than anything. The Cowboy– a roll of cream cheese and beef. Yes it sounds different but I think this was prob. my fav. The Hollywood– crab and avocado– nothing special Red Rocket-shrimp tempura stuff Rock shrimp tempura… yummy! We washed this down w/2 surprise shots brought to us. The liquor is def. heavy on the syrup side. Don’t think you’ll walk out of here«chocolate wasted» Staff was awesome and«not conceited models.» Our table neighbors were awesome! I love the décor. Meet me there Monday when everything on the menu is ½ off! The food… not so ¡ Muy delicioso ! Josh– ¡ Muy delicioso !

Was here on a Sunday night, and felt as though I was entering a club — not a restaurant. It was an interesting experience, though. When I saw the menu, I had to look twice because the prices were going to break my wallet. I ordered the singha short ribs, which was really delicious! Except it did not fill me up.): I was sad, but I at least ordered the over the rainbow rolls too! I was glad that there was also green tea ice cream. That made my night! I also had the Hana cocktail, which was good(I mean, any cocktail with Grey Goose has to be awesome). The ambiance was a bit too much for me. It was too dark of a setting with too much red. It was super loud with the live band and random fashion show. And there were a lot of drunk parties around. It is not for me, I guess. I would go back here again, but not immediately.

I heard so much about this place. I think it’s been hyped up wayyyy too much. Although the food was pretty good, you can find much more appetizing restaurants in LA for the same price or cheaper. It’s a good thing I came here with a friend with a deal from travel zoo. If you’re hungry, this place isn’t the place to go. Portions are soo small and overpriced. I had to stop by an In N Out afterwards because I was still hungry! Décor and Ambiance: Very dim, modern, elements of American and Japanese interior design. VERYRED. There’s some green but that was on the Christmas tree. Nice date spot. There’s a tiered fireplace in the center. Food: 1) Red Samurai — decent roll but nothing special. 2) Shishito Peppers — They were surprisingly tasty! I don’t expect much from veggie dishes, but they were cooked perfectly and had plenty of flavor. 4) Cod — tasted like it had some miso glaze. It was delicious but as you can see from the photo, it is miniscule. 5) Tempura Brownie-like cake — Another delicious, but small portion item. The warm, soft, brownie, was covered in tempura batter with ice cream fruits and some sweet wonton like dessert. Liquor: — Delicious and smooth cocktails, but overpriced. $ 12 per cocktail. — The sake here is amazing. All very smooth and have varying flavors. Good description of the sake. Service: Bartenders were friendly, but I think it was because they were bored. The female servers here are very attractive. Parking: $ 8 for valet. Free street parking after 6 on the weekdays on Cherokee.

The reason I am giving this four stars is because this is a great Hollywood Ambiance… the food is obviously overpriced but it’s not breaking your bank unless you eat A LOT. It’s fun for girls time and a date night — but make sure your date cannot eat a lot — then it will break your wallet… This place used to be SUPER trendy… now it has died down A LOT. It still could get busy but not as much. It has good girly drinks. I like their cocktails. AMBIANCE — Very dark and Hollywood. I think that’s why I like it. It’s very Hollywood… and sometimes you’re in the mood for that. :D Parking: Valet or paid parking across the street…

Great place for friends hangout, not a very good place for a dinner date, so crowded and loud. But the ambience is great, lots of younger ppl, the décor is trendy and sexy too. the food is one of the worst Japanese cuisine. There are lot of Japanese where I live, and there are some authentic Japanese restaurants are owned by real Japanese,(we know most Japanese restaurants are owned by Korean or Chinese these days), we eat at those places all the time. so I know authentic Japanese cuisine. Service is good, food is not overpriced, but the portion is small. If you looking for good Japanese food, don’t go there, if you looking for a fun night with friends, this is the place for you. There is a lounge area. I suggest to have some drinks or light fare there, not a real dinner. This place is good for sexy & fun hangout evening for younger ppl. :)
