It’s a pretty solid breakfast/lunch spot. I’ll start w/cons: 1) Very«classic» breakfast/lunch menu — sandwiches, breakfast burrito, panini… nothing special. Compared to the eclectic menu you can find on Sawtelle, their food can be seen a bit boring. 2) Little pricey — Lunch will ring up to 10 bucks. For sandwiches, 10 bucks can seem a bit pricey. Pros: 1) Good food — this is why I come here. Sometimes you want that classic turkey club made with swiss cheese, crunchy bacon, and mayo. No turkey bacon, no fancy cheese, and no chipotle aioli craziness. 2) Quality — fresh ingredients prepared on the spot. Even their side fruit is chunks of freshly cut fruit, not a mushy mess. I’m glad this place is located so close to my work. I know I listed the«classic» menu as a con, but I personally am glad that they are not trendy or ethnic. Sometimes I need a break from the«foodie» scene of West LA for some no-frill good old sandwiches. And this place is perfect for that. All the 1 star reviews are 4 – 5 years ago, so maybe the place is under new management.

Great healthy fresh food and great service! Burritos are fantastic, bacon is the best. They will make the order to your liking!

This is a great spot that is family run and kicks out a mean wrap for me every time. I come here on weekdays and am usually pressed for time, and I’ve never waited more than 5 – 7 minutes for my order. Service is friendly and prompt, and although I don’t often have the time to enjoy my lunch in the little courtyard outside, but at least my sad desk lunch is really tasty! They feature daily specials that are a nice departure from their regular menu(spoken with the full authority of someone who gets the same thing every time). If you work nearby make sure to try them out… maybe find your new favorite lunch spot!

I love to find spots like this. Family run with great staff! The food is fresh and well put together. I love the #15 chicken sandwich with avocado, grilled peppers and provolone. A fantastic sandwich! Grilled or toasted, you can’t go wrong. I have seen other units pass by me that all looked great. Salads, other sammies and lots of other stuff. But, the winner here is the staff! Great hard working folks who truly go all out. Loved it!

To the owners: You seem like really nice people. Staff gets 5+ stars as the friendliest of any sandwich shop in town. Service is fast. Menu has a nice selection of interesting lunch items. Prices are a bit high, but not unreasonable. So what’s the problem? It’s your ingredients. The chicken tastes dry like it’s been in the freezer for a decade, the sliced turkey is slimy, and the hamburger is tasteless. Even the grill at the car wash a couple blocks down the street has better tasting food. Most grills get their not especially good quality meats from Sysco or even Smart & Final. It seems you found somewhere cheaper than that, and we can taste the difference. Not only is it not gourmet, but it’s not even generic. Please spend a little more on your ingredients, and I guarantee your reviews will go up and your repeat business will increase dramatically.

Best Tortilla Soup! I am a big soup lover and when I smelled the owner’s homemade soup cooking, I had to have some. It was so delicious that I took a large container to go and served it to my family for dinner. I will definitely be back. The family who runs this restaurant are extremely friendly and obviously take a lot of pride in making high quality, delicious food.

Came here to grab a quick lunch as I had a dentist appointment in this building. The food is basic fast cafeteria type food. Sat around in the outdoor courtyard. Quick and simple lunch. I have another appointment here in another couple months but I think I’ll try the options closer to Sawtelle.

I have been working in this building for almost two years and every now and then I come to get a quick bite to for lunch since I only get ½ hour. The food is not bad but not the greatest either. They are pricey for the quality of food they serve. Today, I had the worst experience. I got a chicken quesadilla since my coworkers have told me it was decent; to my surprise, the chicken was spoiled. I don’t understand why they seem not to care I went back to tell the owners about the situation. Instead of apologizing, they gave me attitude and even came to my office to get the quesadilla back. I wonder if they were going to reuse the chicken; otherwise I don’t see the point of asking for it. I leave it up to you… if you want to experience the same thing is in your hands. I much rather starve than eat there again.

I had an appt in this building and wanted to grab some quick and good. The food decent and I would go back. I recommend the tuna salad/sandwich, BLT, and smoothies(you won’t be disappointed).

The family that runs this place do a great job. They are friendly, warm, and the girl that works at the front is equally nice and helpful. As for the food, no frills here, but the sandwiches are fresh, neat, and do the job. I opt for the Turkey and Avocado and I like the Tuna as well. Sitting outside in the courtyard while enjoying a tasty sandwich and potato salad in the middle of a long work day is a welcome treat.

Small little sandwich place on Olympic. Not the greatest, but not the best. I came here one day after I dropped my car at the car wash. I was going to get lunch in a couple hours and I just wanted a snack. I tried to order a sandwich, but my three choices were sold out. Not sure how you’re sold out when you just opened a hour earlier, so I settled for a cup of soup. Soup was decent. Nothing special. To be honest, it tasted like canned soup. I guess they cater to the employees of the office building they are located in because I don’t understand why you wouldn’t walk down to Sawtelle Blvd to get lunch. If I’m ever in the area again, maybe I’ll give them a try for their coffee or breakfast. Hopefully it’s not sold out.

What a strange little place! I go to Westwood Physical Therapy and every once in a while, my husband and I stop in here to grab something small or a drink. The first time the hubs came upon this place, I couldn’t believe there was a café in the courtyard of a bank building. The people here are very nice, I’ll give them that. But it takes them roughly ten minutes to make a terrible ice blended mocha, so we now stick to bottled drinks.

As a sandwich place, this spot is decent and reasonably priced. It’s hard to mess up a decent sandwich, and this place definitely delivers. One of my faves are the turkey avocado. Simple, light, flavorful. I have had to ask to not have my bread toasted sometimes, because that stuff messes with the roof of my mouth. Not fun going through the rest of my day with scraped up gums. The smoothies are good, and breakfast is uncomplicated but great. It’s in a convenient location for me, so when I want a cheap, healthy meal, this is where you’ll find me.

This establishment is a public plaza deli where the City National Bank building is located. They’re fast in the kitchen, they deliver, and some of their prices are reasonable. They are open pretty early for breakfast and close at about 5PM. I think they close at 4PM every Friday. They offer combo meals, lunch specials, snacks, and made-to-order food. They also have a variety of smoothies and snacks. There’s like one or two tables inside but they also have an outdoor eating area as well. For me, it’s very convenient because it’s less than a minute away, they accept credit/debit cards, friendly, fast, and I haven’t had a bad experience here.

Gourmet bites café is nestled inside the middle of the city national bank building, right in the middle of the courtyard. I only come here because it is very convenient and located right across the street from where I work so it is an easy place to go pick up a drink, snack, or meal. Gourmet bites café serves breakfast, lunch(there is usually a daily special), smoothies, soups, salads, and they also have a convenient-like store in the front where you can purchase a variety of items ranging from fresh cut fruit, chips, various sodas, ice cream, cookies, snacks, etc — if there is not a snack available that does not satisfy your craving then you are one picky person! I have been here plenty of times and breakfast is probably the best option as the food is good, filling, and a hearty amount to start out your day. I really appreciate how you can get egg whites and they do not charge you extra for it! My favorite part about gourmet bites café is that it’s family owned and run and you will always see the son and mother working together to serve the customers. Everyone is always very nice and willing to help whatever needs you may have Rating: although I have a lot of good things to say about this place, I had to give it an average as the food is very average tasting however the convenience and service really make up for the lack of taste.

You won’t find this place very easily. The only way you would know it exists would be if you worked in the area or actually searched on the internet for sandwiches. I found out by someone in the office with a menu. It’s inside the building. past the front desk, past the back doors into the ‘lunch area’ as it looked as I passed by it. For it being hidden it sure had enough customers to fill seats and have people waiting in line. There was the Kogi truck outside and that still didn’t keep this place from customers. This place actually has a place to sit down at with shade even. Combine Kogi and this place that has unlimited refills. perfect lunch. My panini though was a strange one. It was literally a burrito. What happened to my panini? Still it was good enough with the tasty avocado and chicken pieces semi fried. Lots of drinks, lots of chips, actually tons of chips and lots of snacks. Perfect for the cube jockeys who occupy this establishment.

I’ve been working in the building where the café is located for over a year now and the employees there for the most part are very friendly. The food is a little pricey given the quality but I’m not usually compelled to voice a negative opinion of anything, especially because the location is so convenient. All that being said, a young woman was hired to work as a cashier there a few months ago and her attitude alone has soured my entire experience. It goes beyond just not being polite. She’s impatient, will ignore customers, and is surly and incapable of doing the basic things her job requires,(and I’m not judging with no knowledge of how to do what she does– I’ve worked in a few restaurants myself) and as of today, I will not go back.

This place is located in the courtyard of the City National Bank building. I’ve worked in this building for 4 years and have visited this café may times. The food is decent but way overpriced. Since the food is just ok you truly are paying for convenience. I have had bad experiences where there was a bug in my salad, but I keep coming back because it’s easy to go downstairs for food when you’re starving and in a hurry. Today I say NOMORE. After paying $ 8 for a blah avocado BLT, I really feel like it’s just not worth it. A dollar cheeseburger from McDonalds would have been much more satisfying.

I would eat here far more often if it weren’t for the painful, mind-numbingly awful service. And when I say awful, I mean beyond bad. The only reason I go here now is because it’s conveniently located across the street from my office(in the middle of the City National Bank building), and the next nearest locale is several blocks down. So, when time is short, Gourmet Bite is the only option. Whenever I call to place my to-go order, one of the snooty young girls takes my order either so fast that they barely have time to hear everything I’ve said(to the point where they’ve hung up before I’ve finished ordering) or they barely listen, so that my order is not accurate when I pick it up. My last THREE orders have been wrong, and all I asked for was to substitute bread for a pita. Seriously, does that require that much brain power? Apparently so. As does answering the phone. I’ve had someone answer, mumble something incoherent, then leave the phone on the counter so I can hear all the ambient noise. Once when I said, «Hello?» to see if anyone is still there, the girl responded rather impatiently, «Just a *minute*.» I swear I heard her sigh, as if the thought of my asking for her help were exasperating. The food is actual pretty good(how can you mess up a sandwich or a salad?), but the service is so obtuse that I walk away furious every time. I’d be very surprised if this place remains open after the cafeteria in my building opens in two months. How will they be able to compete? Note to someone wishing to start a lunch-time restaurant business: You could open 10 feet away from them and steal their customers with ease. It wouldn’t take much to do so.
