Great coffee! Cold brew(hazelnut) steep for 24 hours, very flavorful. Hot coffee, house brew not bitter even if ts strong. Service is fantastic & space is comfortable. This might just be my to go coffee place for now on.

Good place to study, but it’s a coin flip on whether or not you’ll find an inside table. They have quite a few tables outside, but I always come to study and fare better indoors for that. They have a few spots on their side lot dedicated to their business, and by a few I mean like 3, but I’ve never had a probably finding parking on the surrounding streets. I’ve gotten their Vanilla Latte and Cappuccino, both were great. The inside décor is very hipster and I love it. It’s incredibly reflective of the gentrification that Glassell Park and the rest of East LA are undergoing. My only gripe with this place is their food. Though quite a few options, they’re all so pricey! Wish the cheapest thing on the food menu(aside from the small sides), wasn’t an $ 8⁄9 sandwich or salad. It was a pretty enormous sandwich though.

Perfect alternative for the chain. Nice folks, a good deal of all choices and so yummy. I like it outside hangin out.

Love this place for the food, drinks and friendly staff– but it is SOCOLD in there. I literally walked in today and turned around and walked out without buying anything. The mornings in LA have been chilly lately, but nothing is more uninviting than a place that’s colder indoors than out.

Fresh delicious food made daily, just the wait at lunch and the prices a little high. But I liked my sandwich a lot, it was the vegan pesto, the bread is amazing. Very light meal and guilt free. great coffee selection. Friendly staff, highly recommend.

Happened upon Habitat organically, just driving by and didn’t even check Unilocal before stopping. I know, bananas right? It was a happy encounter. I love the atmosphere and décor. Very peaceful and spacious. Super friendly staff. I got the iced coffee and the raspberry punk tart. Great start to Memorial weekend and I will happily come back.

Fair prices on bakeries and sandwiches. Coffee is decent. But the three eggs slow scramble looks bit sad for $ 9. Also outdoor seating.

Nice place! It’s pretty small inside but there’s outdoor seating too. Plenty of plugs and free wifi for the laptop crowd. Street parking all around the area. It’s got the same great food from Susina Bakery which was owned by the same owner of this spot(hi Jenna, I see you baby!!)

Nice afternoon snack(4 stars) Came by one afternoon for a snack. I ordered the quiche with bacon and iced coffee. Sat down and started working on stuff for work. Iced coffee came and it was really good. The quiche came a little later, warm, and it was delicious. Definitely plan to return.

I go to school in Pasadena and Habitat is honestly the best study spot. I don’t mind the drive, I love love love Habitat. What makes me come back is honestly their iced vanilla latte. Hands down the best I’ve tasted in LA! I guess the only«bleh» part about this place is that it gets SUPER cold inside and finding parking is hard but other than that, best coffee shop in LA.

Good coffee is a stable in every working persons daily routine. I was nearby early weekday AM and wanted to kill time before I headed back on the road to the west side. I haven’t had their breakfast, but it looks delicious. Check this place out! ENJOY!

Not overly hipster, just about right. The food here is surprisingly good with good coffee to boot. My taste in coffee has drastically changed these past two years. I used to love soy lattes, vanilla, hazelnut, lavender, you get the idea. But I’ve switched to just a simple cold brew with almond milk. I love the hazelnut cold brew here. No sweetener needed, it tastes great just by itself. The pre-packaged salads along the entrance don’t look impressive but they’re actually delicious. The vegan breakfast tostada is so good, it’s the only vegan dish that I’ve actually enjoyed so far out of all the snooty/hipster/bird-foodish places I’ve tried. The décor is pretty interesting, you got random forest animals just kickin it everywhere. I’ve only been here twice but will definitely be back.

ahh… can you smell the sweet smell of gentrification? before Habitat was even a thing, if I ever wanted a coffee fix, I would take a stroll down to Eagle Rock/York at my local Starbucks. or if I was feeling really fancy I took a bus or a drive over to Swork on Colorado. I literally live right down the block and I decided to give Habitat a try since it was so close by. admittedly, I first visited because a friend I knew worked there – but he wasn’t ringing up any orders so I couldn’t get a hookup on sandwiches unless he was off(which by the way are so… so good). the place was clean, everything was displayed clearly and nicely, and the owner is super sweet! I’ve been called«honey» on numerous occasions and that’s probably my favorite thing to be called. their coconut chai tea latte tastes so much better than Starbucks’ mix. add in some honey and you got yourself some heaven in a cup. on a separate occasion I got an iced mocha for a friend who described it as a watered down melted milkshake. I’m not a big fan of any mocha flavored drinks so I don’t have any real opinion on it. they also have bomb as hell pastries! they got you if you’re allergic to gluten or if you’re vegan because, well, that’s what white people are into nowadays right? if I wasn’t so broke and intimidated by their weird raccoon painting, I’ll definitely visit more often. perhaps if they had a rewards program I would be coming back more.

As someone who is constantly on the prowl for a good spot to post up for a handful of hours most of all the days, Habitat tops the list of coffee shops that hit all the following criteria: –Reliable wifi(except during their weekend brunch, when it’s turned off, which is totally understandable) –Outlets –Free parking –Good amount of space and tables, both outdoor and indoor –Delicious coffee(I’m partial to the hazelnut cold brew, one of the, if not the, only cold brew I don’t have to add anything to to enjoy) –Savory and sweet food items that satisfy both morning and afternoon cravings, they even have an impressive grab-and-go refrigerator and snack section(for bfast, get the make-your-own-omelet for $ 9 — skip the bagel and cream cheese offering unless you’re into the pre-packaged cream cheese that you spread on yourself) –Friendly staff I was so enamored with the place, I visited three times in the span of a week. It can get really cold in there, depending on where you’re sitting, so bring a light jacket to combat the frigid temps and you’ll be just peachy.

My friend and I were dying for a good cup of coffee and snack and used trusty Unilocal to do our searching for us. Found this awesome coffee shop in and around the Glassell Park area. The place was somewhat crowded so we didn’t decide to stay. Just grabbed our coffees brownies and cookies to go. The snacks were steep in price, but pretty tasty. The coffee was very good. Should’ve got a larger size. Parking slightly limited on the side of the building. I found parking along the back street where the playground/pool/park area is. Would definitely stop in again if in the area for a good brew.

Little known fact about me: the first city that I lived in when I was still in the womb is Glassell Park, and I lived in the city for about five years, until my family moved to my official hometown, Highland Park. Finding out that a coffee shop opened near where I used to go to preschool 20+ years ago was like reliving a childhood memory. Because the parking lot is small, I usually opt on parking on a side street and walking to the shop. Unlike other places in Los Angeles, there’s usually street parking and you’re not concerned whether or not your car will get dented. But, there is a parking lot next to the shop, if you get there early enough. The first time I came here, I decided to get my coffee to go, because I was just simply passing by. This time around, I decided to stay here for a bit, to get some studying done. Even though it was brunch time, I was able to find a stand alone table to plant myself for a few hours. And because it was brunch time, I wanted food on my table, so it didn’t look like I was just squatting for the free Wi-Fi. However, after placing my order, I noticed that the sign next to the register stating that the Wi-Fi will be off from 10AM — 2PM during brunch time. Looks like if you wanted to have a study session happen, come after 2PM.(Luckily for me, I was studying the old fashion way, pen and paper, even though I did have my laptop.) The breakfast tosada’s presentation was beautiful, but the flavor was average. It wasn’t bad, and the price was reasonable, so everything balanced out. Personally, I would come back to try out a few more brunch dishes and to test out a few more coffee choices. Just don’t know if I would purposely make it a point to come back here because I need to have this in my daily life.

Haven’t been here in so long and forgot how amazing it is. On a low carb diet but can get so many things here. Got myself a tuna salad to go, a quiche for brekkie(will skip the crust), a Hawaiian hazelnut coffee. They have so many gluten free and paleo snacks! 30 min parking in front!

After going here for quite some time I’m bumping them up to five stars. The service is excellent and the friendly attitude towards animals always makes the walking distance breakfast a great experience. As for my favorites — the ham and cheese croissants, any of their quiches and basically anything baked by them is a must. Very reasonable prices too.

Another café to add on to my list of Coffeeshop Sundays. COFFEE/PASTRY: Got a hot vanilla almond milk latte on a rare gloomy LA day. I don’t know what Habitat did but their coffee was so memorable. Maybe its simplicity? Maybe they combined the precise amount of coffee, vanilla flavor, & almond milk? But their coffee will probably be my reason for coming back more times after. I split a brownie w/walnuts with a friend. Not as memorable but it was a good given brownie. SERVICE: Service was okay. Didn’t get too much of it BUT wasn’t too impressed with even the minimal amount I did get. See, if I plan to stay awhile, I will be the girl who fancies a good coffee presentation. Unfortunately, that was not delivered due to them not having the time to tell me they were out of mugs OR they were simply lazy at hearing that Sunday. I do remember saying I wanted my drink«for here» rather than to go. It’s a small thing but what if they missed a part of my order instead?(Their coffee wouldn’t be as memorable then.) Attention to detail especially in customer service is something I admire & I didn’t admire much for that minimal amount of interaction. Not petty just aware of details. Still doesn’t take away from their coffee! Still love their coffee! Heads up(s): — Parking on street or in the side alleyway(only about 4 spots!) — Bigger space than most cafes! Wider even. — WiFi connection was strong

Simply delightful! I was greeted with a smile, called«Hon», the coffee was awesome and my breakfast tostada tasted like heaven on a plate. They really know how to compose a dish. The art on the walls is crazy cool, the chairs are comfy with a good amount of «give», there’s a cute drought-tolerant plant on every table and the whole space is just gorgeous. Only problem is parking… They have a tiny lot and there never seems to be anything else in the area. But can’t fault them for that, so 5 stars it is!
