Food was a hit at my office! HR catered our lunch meeting today for 40 folks and I got really great feedback from co-workers which was a huge relief! Its always stressful to order for a large group, especially when ordering from a new place. We ordered the vegan chicken, regular chicken, beef gyro, traditional hummus, falafels and chopped salad. It met everyone’s dietary needs and was yummy! The price was also very reasonable. Next time, I need to order more salad and falafels because those were first to go. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Loved eating here, It really has all kinds of healthy options. The falafel is amazing, they also have vegetarian chicken and steak. Loved it, there’s wheat, tons of hummus options Def going back soon!!!

Really cool concept but just OK. This place definitely has a lot of potential. I really enjoyed the concept of building your own wrap or bowl«subway-style» pointing at all the ingredients you want. I ordered a wrap and mixed chicken and falafel with Spanish and some sort of slaw. I got the traditional hummus and added some tahini sauce. It was still a little dry and the hummus could have used some olive oil. It was decent and definitely a good amount of food. The service was slow but attentive so it’s forgiving because at least they were friendly and did a good job. Restaurant and seating area was just kind of awkward and ill-conceived. Tables are close to each other and really small and light. Kind of reminded me of TV dinner tables. They’re slated wood so napkins were slipping through. There was also a dusty speaker resting on a chair(poor choice). They did have outdoor seating though that’s fenced off from the busy sidewalk. Check in on Unilocal for a free drink with entrée order or ask for their coupon for buy 1 entrée, get 2nd for free.

I don’t write reviews, but this place has compelled me to write one. Don’t eat here. This is a such a shitty place. I ordered a «craft your own wrap». Took Mediterranean chicken with wheat bread, field greens and regular hummus combination. Along with chips & a coke. 1. The wrap sucked. There was smell in the wrap, and didn’t really have anything going for it. Bland taste with some chicken in it. One of the worst wraps I have tasted. 2. The chips were oily and simply made me feel like throwing up. 3. The coke can was dirty to the point that I had to wash it before pouring the soda out. Overall, a horrible first experience. I didn’t even finish the wrap. 1⁄5

Fire! I love this place, and I am a discerning eater. I come here whenever I’m downtown. It’s so hard to find a place that is fast, healthy, affordable, and good! I disagree with the negative reviews. It seems some people want this to be a typical Mediterranean restaurant, which it never claims to be. They don’t have gyros and their wraps aren’t pitas. You assemble your own rice bowl, salad bowl, or wrap. I recommend the bowls. I get a salad bowl with mixed greens and kale, then pile it high with schwarma or falafel, multiple types of hummus, cabbage, beets, carrots, babaganoush, eggplant, chickpeas, bulgar wheat, and then one of their bomb sauces. For $ 9 bucks! A huge healthy delicious salad bowl! What I always dream of! Y’all are crazy if you don’t love it I swear. Big fan.

LITERALLYDON’T LISTENTOANYOFTHEBADREVIEWSONHERE! I’m from here and know downtown like the back of my hand, but this is my first time coming here since it opened and it is SOOOOGOOOOOD! it’s fast casual style with bowl, wrap, or salad options and many Mediterranean favorites to add in at no extra cost. Only things that cost 95cents more are a pair of falafel, or dolmadas. I’m telling you, come here and enjoy some great food at no crazy cost!

I used to like this place as a last resort for lunch. They are a weird Mediterranean place, but the falafel was always fresh and hot. So from time to time I stopped in for a basic tortilla wrap… yes it’s weird. Now the falafel is nasty. Their falafel has changed. It is not as fresh, it is not served hot! It’s tough and just not fresh. DONOTCUTCORNERSONYOURINGREDIENTSANDPREPARATION! It used to be soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside, they were legit fresh and tasty. Now I have no reason to ever return. You lost me at the bad falafel.

Like another reviewer I was so excited there was a mediterranean place downtown. I had a coupon and rushed over to get a gyro. I ordered one and they broke out this busted-ass tortilla. I said, «Uhh. I asked for it on a pita.» «Oh, we don’t have pitas.» «But your menu says…» «Yeah, it’s wrong.» How the hell does a mediterranean place NOT have pitas? That was a red flag and I should’ve walked out at that moment. But they made me something and it was disgusting. I didn’t feel like going through all of the trouble of trying to get my money back so I just decided to chalk it up as a learning experience and move on with my life. I decided to try it again, this time I got a bowl. Once again, everything was disgusting. Maybe it was my mix(they have no suggested mixes like most of these places have) I could barely choke it down(which is saying a lot for a guy who used to be 400 lbs) and eventually just threw it out. Stay away.

WHYHAVE I NOTCOMEHERESOONER!!! By far the best place in the neighborhood for delicious, healthy and affordable food. Their portions are huge! And my mouth was exploding with all of the delicious flavors of my bowl. They have so many options as far as greens, proteins, veggies and sauces go, so you can mix and match to customize to your taste. And if you eat here everyday, like I now plan on doing, you won’t ever be bored. The possibilities are endless! I genuinely thought I lucked out with my meal, and was hooked up on portion and options by an über generous employee, but nope. I was helped by George, the general manager – so this is the standard?! I’ve found my new favorite lunch spot.

Summary: Overpriced, low-quality food. Rude, surly service. No attention to basic food prep standards that led to me being sick. There were two female servers when I went, one African-American and the other Latina(their races are totally irrelevant other than for you to be able to tell them apart should you make the mistake of going into this place.) The African-American woman was friendly and attempted to be helpful. The Latina server was SORUDE, like she was doing me a favor by even speaking with me. I got a very bland wrap, just veggies and tahini. I can’t digest a number of spices and I listed those for the servers beforehand. However, when my bit into my dinner, my whole mouth exploded with fire. They offered no explanation as to why a bland wrap of quinoa, carrots, and the like, would be so spicy. Even my husband(who eats spicy peppers with his breakfast, not joking) tasted and confirmed it was abnormally spicy. Were they trying to poison me? The not rude server gave me a cup of ice, but did not offer a refund on this piece of garbage. I was sick later in the evening from this debacle. Also, when we ordered, they told us the posted menu was out of date(is that even legal?) and to just choose from the food that appeared before us. I skipped the protein portion and got 1 piece of eggplant and some quinoa instead. The rude lady said«There’s a charge for the quinoa.» The not rude lady instructed her not to upcharge me because I hadn’t taken a protein. The rude lady was exasperated that I didn’t know there was a charge for eggplant too.(Of course I didn’t, you told me not to look at the menu, fool.) I said, ok, then I prefer not to have the eggplant. I hope this place goes out of business. ***** EDIT: The GM reached out to me. He apologized, refunded my money, and offered us a free meal. Now THAT is really good customer service! I don’t think I’ll be returning, but I appreciated the gesture.

I was kind of excited to try this place, I’m always on the hunt for affordable salad options in DTLA, but as I was ordering, a cockroach scurried across the food service area(the food is in containers to pick from in the style of Subway or Chipotle). Mr. Roachie was brazen enough to come out with all all the lights on and within a few feet of 5 people, you know that there are more where that came from. I told the person serving me and he didn’t seem to care, he asked me if it was«gone,» I told him it went into the food case, adjacent to the hummus he just tried serving me. He seemed content to continue assembling a salad and carry on with his day. The food does look really good, but that’s a big«hell no» for me, folks.

While the hummus has stayed consistent, unfortunately the quality and care of everything else gone down at Hummus Republic. Ordered our usual there: A bowl with chicken and brown rice, kale, carrots, corn, and their signature republic sauce with a side of pesto hummus. Took it to go for lunch, and when I opened it up to take that first bite, I nearly spat it out. No joke. What happened you ask? The moment I tasted the chicken, it was so #$!@-ing salty it made my tongue burn. I was pretty hungry so ate a few more bites, but the immediate nauseousness from this over salted dish didn’t allow me to continue much further. I am shocked that one could let this even be served to customers. Very disappointed and almost embarrassed for them to be honest with this one. And caveat for all you readers out there– This has happened 3 times now. The first two times I thought it was maybe a fluke. But as we all know, three strikes and you’re out my friend. I will no longer be a customer of Hummus Republic. Best wishes to you.

OMGNOMOREHUMMUSREPUBLIC!!! I guess I wasn’t the only one. I have to agree with Ant C. Roaches! Roaches on the wall! I took some pics but roaches on the dark wall won’t do justice. I thought I was having a decent lunch but after I saw the roaches, I had no idea what I was eating. I just left and will never come back!

Vegan! Ordered delivery through grub hub tonight and got the Vegan Chicken Power Bowl. Excellent! See photo. I hate fake meat products so I picked the pieces out but it was still soooo yummy! Quinoa, Rice, lettuce, Hummus and Tahini. Perfect dinner! I also ordered the Falafel wrap that I’m bringing to work for lunch tomorrow, I took one bite and it was delicious! Delivery was super fast and the gentleman was very nice :) definitely will order again!

Chipotle style Mediterranean restaurant. Thought I’d try this place after passing by here many times. You have options to order in a wrap, bowl or pita with a choice of meat or falafel, hummus(traditional, roasted pepper, cilantro jalapeño), assortment of veggies and cheese, and sauce. I opted for a wrap with chicken, cilantro jalapeño with some fixings of veggies and Republic sauce. Honestly, didn’t care for the food here. The chicken was room temperature and had curry which I don’t always care for. The wrap itself was small and was still hungry. Chipotle would of been a better option. What made me come here was the thought they’d have versions of hummus. I’m a big fan of hummus and they only had two versions available. Honestly, there was no love in the food. No wonder this place was empty. My bad. I’ll keep walking by next time.

I came here for lunch the other day and it was quite good! Hummus Republic reminds me of the Chipotle ordering style, just with the dishes revolved around hummus instead of salsa and guacamole! To start, this place has 3 different options for hummus… I chose the spicy cilantro jalapeño hummus and it was excellent. There were way more meat options than I expected including vegan options such as vegan chicken and vegan shawarma. I went with the vegan chicken and it had decent flavor and texture, although it was slightly rubbery. I tried someone else’s actual chicken, and I would definitely choose the actual chicken over the vegan version next time! The other add-ins were definitely what made this meal great as I made a bowl filled with eggplants, lettuce, kale, beets, and feta cheese in addition to the vegan chicken and hummus. I added the tzatziki sauce on top, too(there were 8 different sauce choices in addition to the 3 hummus flavors!). This place was great because there were just so many options to make your meal above average! I’m really looking forward to coming back soon and trying the falafel, shawarma, and dolamades! It’s an old food concept, but I like the unique twist Hummus Republic has done with this style of building your own hummus creation!

Super tasty! I checked in and got a complimentary mint lemonade that was very refreshing and not too sweet, a perfect lemonade. I ordered the falafel bowl without broccoli/cauliflower and they added corn instead. It was really good. Next time I’ll ask for feta instead of the white mozzarella. The falafel was flavored with the right spices and fried. I liked the kale spinach base! The hubs got the Greek Wrap, same kale spinach and saucy tasty combo, but ordering it to go and eating it about 20 min later made it a bit soggy. The bowl kept much better. Would definitely go back to try it again and customize more. Parking is metered and staff is very friendly!

Just as Chipotle has americanized Mexican food, Hummus Republic has americanized Mediterranean food! They have the assembly line style service Chipotle and Subway are famous for. The workers are very nice and they pack each bowl to the brim. This place is exactly what I have been looking for in DTLA. Their bowls are essentially salads, and for $ 8 each you definitely can’t beat that! You got yourself a new regular Hummus Republic.

Seriously, HOWISTHISPLACESOGOOD?! It’s absurd. I was at Silo Bar for a private party, and was able to order a smörgåsbord of food from Hummus Republic. The actual restaurant is also fantastic. Chipotle style build your own wrap/bowl kinda deal — add hummus(cilantro, jalepeno, roasted pepper) feta cheese, babaganush, sun dried tomatoes, and more toppings from the salad bar. And it’s SUPERAFFORDABLE and delicious. $ 7.95 for a bowl/wrap, and all additional sides are under $ 3. HEALTHY. FRESH. &BANGFORYOURBUCK. For their pimp menu, you must go to Silo. + Garbanzo Snack — ugh. these are sooo addicting. They come out warm and soft! The garbanzo beans are perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned. I couldn’t stawwppp popping them in my mouth. + Veggie Healthy Wraps — I didn’t think vegan Shawarma could be good, but EFFYES – it kicked ass. It was juicy and tender, when I thought it would’ve been a little dry. I loved the fresh lettuce wraps because it gave the dish a crispy texture. Their tahini and tzaziki sauce was BOMB. + Earth Burger– errmmerrggeeerrrdddaahhhhh. The falafel patty was ridiculous. It had a super thin and crispy shell, and the center was so moist and soft. They kept the burger pretty simple– lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, mustard, and ketchup. But it was incredible. Their falafel game is on point. The burger came with a side of sweet potato fries as well. + Mediterranean Sampler Plate — gyro, babaganush, trio hummus, dolmades, falafel bites, tahini, tzaziki, and seasoned pita chips. I MEAN, EVERYTHING. + Tuscan Flatbread — pesto, sliced tomatoes, roasted eggplant, and feta. SOMUCHFETA! I loved the pesto and eggplant– great combo! But it was feta overkill, and the flatbread was a little soggy. It could’ve been cooked a little longer for a crispier crust. + Cheesecake & Baklava — Okay, we ordered these desserts separately… but ate them together. THISSHOULDBE A THINGGUYS. It was perfect. The creaminess of the cheesecake with the flaky baklava was just the best texture combination everrrrrrr. I never want to eat them on it’s own again. Hummus Republic, you got yourself a fan for life. I LUHYOU.
