This doctor is very experienced, very detail-​oriented, and knows her stuff very well. The comfort of her patients is very important to her, so even during acne treatments like face peels she asks to make sure you’re doing alright, and uses things such as fans and ice to make you comfortable. She has tons of her own products for acne/​skincare that work great, but is always willing to make suggestions for drugstore brands as well — often you can even buy your medications at the office for cheaper than you would be able to somewhere else. For such a busy practice, the staff are very organized and attentive. Come a few minutes early to find street parking, because the lots nearby are expensive!

I was recommended by my friends Reza and Kellie who have also used Dr. Vafaie’s services. Having several years of minor skin problems/​blemishes and having to go to a few different «specialists» I think I have honestly found the right one. Dr. Vafaie has very notable experience and really knows how’s to make you feel comfortable. I nearly forgot I was at the a dermo care establishment. Thank you for taking care of me!

DR. VAFAIE IS ONE OF THE BEST DERMS OUT THERE. I was very anxious about this «bump» on my arm that ended up being nothing. She was very thorough and comforting throughout the whole process. She recommended that I either leave it or alone (which means she wasn’t trying to take my $$) or that I can remove it but it was compltetly my choice. I was very comfortable in the fact that she gave me many options and allowed me to choose which way I wanted to go. The staff are also amazing and friendly. I will be coming back here !!

I am 45 years old and I started going to Dr. Vafaie about a year ago. During that time, I have had 3 Botox injections, 1 Restylane injection, 2 acid peels, 3 sessions of Fraxel and I have started using her skin care line. I Look at least 5 years younger now, but people usually guess I am in my mid 30’s. My results have been fantastic. I used to go to a medi spa where an internal medicine doctor did the injections. I liked my previous results, but I didn’t realize that my results could be night-​and-​day better. There is definitely a component of artistry to this line of work, to figure out where and how much of fillers or Botox you need. And she has the artistic touch!

I am shocked by all of the good reviews honestly. Also, would like to note this is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to write one. I do not trust this office and will not be going back for further visits. I have seen her 4 times and here are my reasons for not returning…
–Since seeing Dr. Vafaie I’ve consulted another dermatologist about an area of concern that may be pre cancer. Dr. Vafaie told me to put topical cream on it, but it turns out it was a squamous cell. I am 30 years old by the way.
–The first visit I scheduled was for a full body check. They told me I only had a few minutes with the Dr. and she likes to meet new patients before scheduling a full body check, so I would have to come back when there is more time. AKA more money for her and a waste of your time. That information should be fully disclosed when scheduling over the phone.
–She took a biopsy and during my follow-​up she asked me where it was located, just look at your chart, hopefully it’s there.
–She has reprimanded/​made condescending remarks to her assistants in front of me.
–She has asked the assistants what the purpose of the visit was in front of me. Something that should take place before I’m in the room. Especially, when it’s to remove stitches.
–Not only does Dr. Vafaie not pay full attention to you during a visit she has even discussed other office issues. I found myself in the middle of conversations about construction going on for their new location. Super distracting.
–One of the assistants she hired sold me Vitamin D pills while the Dr. wasn’t in the office. Which I found out later was against office practices and the woman was terminated as she was doing this behind their back. While this isn’t directly her fault, how did this person get through?
–I just had stitches removed and the wound did not heal as perfectly as she would have liked. Instead of just explaining how I can care for it, she got defensive and immediately blamed it on me by saying I must sit really weird and I damaged the area. This is something I noticed the day of the procedure and thought it was normal.
–She pushes her own products on you.
–When I asked what I needed to heal my wound she suggested a $ 60 product that can only be purchased in the office. I asked if I could get it and she said they were sold out and did not offer a back up plan. The assistant kindly assured me that regular Aquaphor works just as well.
I understand I’m one of the one people on here with a bad review, but highly recommend finding someone else if you can and if you need a dermatologist for something more than just clearing up your skin or cosmetic purposes.

Dr Vafaie has been my dermatologist since I was in college. Three months ago For my dear mothers 60^th birthday I took her to Dr Vafaie for a filler.
Dr Vafaie was quite frank and said my mother wasn’t a candidate for filler she recommended a fraction co2 laser. Oh my goodness!!! After the first treatment she was red and swollen for two days but her face was not peeling off like chemical peels do. The office took pictures between treatments and after three months the stubborn lines around her mouth diminished significantly.
Thank you Dr Vafaie for your talent hard work and awesome staff and lasers make the prices worth it! I would never go anywhere else.

My coworker had MOHs surgery on his face by this doctor and recommended her. His scar is invisible. While I was not in need of a skin check (and was told on the phone they don’t even offer it on initial visit) I was in need of a confidence boost. So I booked a consult.
The staff was classy and friendly, the office itself was simple but clean.
When I met Dr Vafaie she was modestly dressed in clean scrubs and very detail oriented. I talked to her about Botox and filler for the lips and she actually said no Botox!!! She recommended some filler for my lips and under my tired eyes. I also talked to her about my stretch marks. They have an awesome laser to treat them!
I decided to book an appointment for the filler now my lips look slightly fuller but so natural my eyes no longer look tired. Next up: laser stretch mark removal on my thighs.

Dr. Vafaie made me feel at ease and comfortable as soon as I met her.
I had a bump on my FACE that looked like a huge pimple that would not go away.
Very concerned that it could be melanoma (skin cancer) she assures me NOT to worry and stress.
It was not cancerous. Thank God and thank Dr Vafai it’s gone and I am confident again.

Dr. Vafaie’s practice has been an amazing experience for me. I have dealt with skin problems my entire life, and was never able to find a doctor to properly diagnose me until now. Dr. Vafaie’s special steroid shot was a miraculous cure for a battle that I have been fighting my whole life. She is highly recommended to diagnose and cure a skin ailment.

I don’t write too many reviews on Unilocal, the reason is because I’m like most that either you write some GREAT experience or an AWFUL one. This was one of those GREAT experiences. Let me start with the staff, everyone was helpful and smiled. I felt comfortable asking silly questions (because I’m a newbie when it comes to skin treatment) they were very patient with me. Props to Annette who was the most memorable because of her knowledge of skin and what i can do in-​between sessions to optimize my results. Cheri was also very very sweet (LOVE THE SMILE) I am 33 years old now and i don’t mind getting wrinkles (because i feel they are inevitable) but I’m battling some hair loss and the last thing i need is to look 50 in my 30s. The treatment i received was Fraxel (never heard of it but one of my friends suggested it and said Dr Janet was an expert. I felt it was a bit pricey but when you consider how much you will spend on other silly techniques and products that won’t really help (I’ve seen people try all the gimmicks) you might as well go with what ACTUALLY works, its freaking well worth it!!! I’m happy with my skin. I will definitely be recommending people. only downside is you gotta pay for parking so just park across the street! save the 15 bucks for your treatment. :)

Dr. Janet Vafaie is a brilliant doctor, who pin points skin issues immediately. Not to mention her skin care line (particularly the Papaya Wash) smells amazing! I look forward to doing more than just acne recovery with her in the future. I continue to highly recommend her to my family and friends.

I have lived in this area all my life and have visited a good amount of dermatologists. After numerous visits, my acne problem never got better. A friend of mine who had a similar problem, recommended Dr. Vafaie to me. I had given up on the idea that any one could help. I am glad that I went to see Dr. Vafaie. I would have to say that Dr. Vafaie is by far the best. I was experiencing adult acne and was left with scars that took forever to go away. I knew I needed to get it taken care of before it got worst. Dr. Vafaie prescribed several medications that stopped the acne from developing. After a couple of months, I came back for laser treatment for my scars and I cannot be any happier. Dr. Vafaie and her entire staff were always professional, welcoming and warm with me. It’s always a pleasure to visit her office. The wait time was never long and Dr. Vafaie spent quality time going over my treatment plan and different options. I was never rushed, in fact Dr. Vafaie always seemed compassionate about my concerns. If you are looking for a great doctor with the best staff, make an appointment to see Dr. Vafaie.

I went to Dr. Vafaie for fillers and laser after I had a breakout that left me with some scars. Can’t even begin to tell you all how happy I am with the results. She is an artist and isn’t heavy handed with the needle. She understood that I still wanted to look as natural as possible.
Her laser center is awesome! I had a friend who also went to Dr. V for laser and after seeing her — I knew I needed to schedule immediately. It was very easy to get in. She is very busy but somehow she still does a wonderful job of ensuring patients get seen on time. Not to mention her bedside manner is top notch. So happy with everything!

Dr. Vafaie is an exceptional dermatologist! She has been my doctor for years. In the past, I’ve had problems with acne and she gave me the right medication to get it taken care of. Her laser center is amazing because she got rid of acne scars. Thanks Dr. V!

Recently went to Dr. Vafaie’s office for laser treatments! I was recommended by a good chunk of my girlfriends who also go to her. Booking an appointment was easy, and her offices are great. I’ve been to both Wilshire and Malibu locations & have been happy with both experiences. Her bedside manner is perfect and I am extremely satisfied with my treatments. Will definitely be going back to her office for more cosmetic work!

I’m having mixed feelings about the staff or doctor, so I’ve waited to post a review until after a second visit.
Three stars for location, cleanliness, ease of getting to the office and getting an appointment. But losing stars for the experience once there…
On my first visit here they were sharing a suite w/​another specialty practice and there was plenty of staff to greet patients and check them in, staff was prompt and the wait was not bad for the doctor. Once I met with Dr. Vafaie I really wanted to like her based on the other reviews and her conveniently located office but she seemed to be judging me the whole time and talking down to me about my concerns. (One of my biggest peeves about doctors or any expert in a field is when they don’t want to take the time to answer your questions… I mean it is your expertise, clearly I’m coming to you for that… don’t make me feel stupid.
In that same visit she prescribed some medications to me but said that this pharmacy out in Rancho Cucamunga (sp?) would fill the script and mail it to me… this was supposedly b/​c they offer the meds cheaper then my insurance would give me at my regular pharmacy. That’s fine, I get that so I agreed and waited to get a call to confirm my address/billing…2 weeks go by and not a peep. I finally called the doctors office to see what was up, apparently no one ever called the script in, the remedied the situation and had the pharmacy overnight the meds and it was pretty cheap (mildly redeemed).
On my second visit, I arrived to their new suite to no one at the desk… I waited about 10 minutes into my appointment time and not a soul to be found. I called the office number to see if it would ring and/​or if it would bring someone to the desk to see about my appt… nothing. Finally a staffer peeked out one of the exam rooms and asked if I minded waiting another 5 minutes… what is the point of making an appointment?

Just saw the doctor again for another followup and still so happy with my results. My skin condition has completely cleared. We ended up doing a laser resurfacing procedure for my scar using her Cynosure laser. The procedure was a breeze and I can already tell a difference. I will probably need another couple rounds of treatment but I was told that so will plan on it. Happy like always. Can’t wait to see the results!

All of my friends have been raving about their dermatologist when it came to skincare and cosmetic work. I would say I never needed to go to a dermatologist until I started noticing little bumps on my face and wrinkles around my eyes. I finally asked my friends who to go to and they were really excited that they even scheduled the appointment for me.
My experience with Dr. Vafaie was nothing short of amazing. I was treated like a VIP & she addressed all of my concerns with the utmost care and patience. Clearly she takes her profession and career seriously judging off these other Unilocal reviews and from what my friends say. I’ll never go to anyone else and I strongly suggest that if you’re looking for a dermatologist you NEED to come here and visit Dr. V.

I had gone to 3 other dermo’s and none of them were able to help me. Dr. Vafaie is amazing. I went one time and she was able to cure the small bumps that were on my arm/​face. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this dermo! She cures everything! Also the doctor and her staff is are sweet. They answered all my millions of questions.

I’m one of those guys that usually never ever has to go to the doctor. But one morning I woke up with small patches of red bumps on my face. Luckily my sister is in the medical field and recommended the best dermatologist that everyone she knows goes to.
Dr. Vafaie is a very sweet woman and highly competent. Her office in Wilshire was well staffed and on point. I was taken into the examining room on time. Dr. V walked in and knew exactly what she needed to prescribe for me to get better. What impressed me most was how genuinely attentive she was to my situation. Most doctors rush through the day and only spend 5 – 10 minutes per patient from my understanding. But she made sure I knew what my situation was and how to treat it best.
Although I rarely go to the doctor, she definitely made me feel comfortable. Thanks so much Dr. Vafaie. Very happy with my experience.

I haven’t been to a ton of dermatologists because I never thought I needed to, but my wife recently told me I needed to go see one because of some sun spots I was getting on my face.
I spend a lot of time in the sun surfing and never use sunscreen. Never have. I went to Dr Vafaie’s office and felt very comfortable and the staff was great and very friendly.
Dr recommended I get laser treatment to remove the sun spots. I was pretty nervous about it, but she gave me a brochure and explained everything to me. I talked to my wife about it (she is more knowledgeable about skin care and procedures than me) and told me I should do it.
I got the treatments and its been great. The spots made me look older and now I feel great without them!

I’m from out of town and I was in the Los Angeles area for a family wedding. I flew in on a Friday to see this horrible rash on my back. I knew I had to do something about it because my dress was backless! I was so uncomfortable and thought my weekend was over. But then two of my relatives are long time patients of Dr. Vafaie. They were able to refer me to see her while I was visiting. Luckily one patient canceled for a Saturday appointment (which I know is very rare but I was lucky). I came in and she was very professional, sweet & knowledgeable. She knew exactly what to do to get rid of my rash in the fastest possible way so it wouldn’t be as inflamed for the wedding on Sunday evening. I went home with the medication she prescribed & I woke up the next day so happy and satisfied.

Dr Janet took care of my face and nose sun damage with a laser in Westwood .She’s great and professional! I heard about her from friends but didn’t know she had lasers… I’m 37 years old and I’ve lived in Southern California for most of my life so I paid for it… Back in San Diego I went to a medi spa dermatologist who used a laser but my sun damage and blood vessels (red spots) were still there. Not anymore !

I was referred to Dr. Vafaie by my girlfriend when I was concerned about a couple moles on my face and back. It was very easy to book an appointment about two weeks in advance. I came in and parked at the structure. Got to the office in time and was seen immediately. Dr. Vafaie is the sweetest doctor I’ve met. She’s young but she knows what she’s doing. She addressed my concerns and I left very happy.
I will be referring her to everyone who needs a dermatologist. Five star doctor!

Making an appointment is easy as the office wasn’t that busy when I went it both times. I don’t know about the parking situation as the office was close to my work. I went due to some very mild skin issues– I’m not sure the prescription really helped though.

I just walked out of Dr. Vafaie’s office and I couldn’t have been more happier with my experience! I came in for a chronic skin issue that I’ve been dealing with for years. She made me feel very comfortable & talked about a plan that would help me have clear and healthy skin! Dr. Vafaie knows what she’s doing! Where do I even begin? This lady has CURED my horrible skin & made me feel like a brand new person! I never had to take care of my skin before but all of a sudden I was suffering from cystic acne & hyperpigmentation. Not to mention I was seeing wrinkles that came out of no where. I found Dr. Vafaie from a couple of family members who live in the Brentwood/​Westwood/​LA area. Although I live pretty far, I decided it was necessary to drive out to see this doctor. Not to mention, her Unilocal reviews were really good so I figured I would be in good hands.
Walked in to see a new & sparkly office. Her staff was very nice & took care of me right away. I didn’t have to wait for too long until I was brought in by her nurse. Dr. Vafaie walked in & knew immediately what to do with my skin. She recommended a couple things & explained it very thoroughly so I could fully understand everything. She made me feel so good about the next steps. Three weeks later and I could already see a huge difference. I’m feeling beautiful again! I couldn’t say that for the last 6 months until Dr. V made it happen for me.

Beware. All they want is your money. They at thief’s. the girl at the front Desk and office staff are clueless. Just went in for a skin exam and left without one. She won’t do a normal skim exam unless you first pay a crazy amount even with insurance to talk to talk to her. Working I the medical industry I know this isn’t normal and if t is for this horrible office you should tell me when I called for a specific need.
I have perfect skin and was going for a yearlyexam. I specifically told the office this. I had my appointment for Friday and they changed it without asking me and only told me when they called to confirm. All they want is your money.
I left as they wouldn’t give me an exam unless we chatted about one spot when all I needed was a yearly check up of my skin. This is a scam of an office. I would take your body and go to someone who cares more about skin damage than plastic issues.

I have seen my fair share of Dermatologists in Los Angeles and can honestly say that Dr. Vafaie is exceptional! She stood out to me from the getco with her expertise and knowledge, as well as her gracious and caring bedside manner. I appreciated this about her most, as most of my past visits with other physicians have felt rushed, leaving some of my questions unanswered or leaving me feeling confused. Dr. Vafaie’s clear & thorough explanations made me feel very confident and very appreciative. She took her time with the office visit & made sure that she had addressed every question/​concern I had. She truly cares.
My condition healed as quickly and perfectly as she said it would, and the regimen she had me on worked wonders! She knows what she is doing! In addition to the medical treatments I have received here, I have also had some Botox injections and my fair share over the course of the past few years. I have had some horrific results from Botox in the past in the way it was administered (it left my eyelids drooping over). Botox like an art and can really alter brows and features if not thoughtfully administered, and Dr. V is the best I have experienced!
