This is one of those chains that can be hit or miss. This place makes very decent veggie burgers and it’s convenient to the financial center of downtown LA. There are so many places to eat in the area, places like this need to step up to draw in business. The best part of this JR’s is the friendly service. Emanuel is the friendliest person in here and I feel lucky enough to go in whenever he is at the register and then delivering my food. As said, the veggie burgers are good. Fries are simply fries. My only beef is the drinking dispenser choices. Stale tea from a container. Need better options for those that do not drink soda. In a great downtown location, up the stairs/escalators at 5th& Fig. The signage should be better, though.

Could have been better. O-rings were old and cold. However, the staff was quick to replace them when we pointed them out

You have to try the pancakes for breakfast, with bacon of course! Thin but large and very tasty — better than any place I’ve found so far in L.A. — who would have thought! And cheap! The eggs are OK, nothing special. But everyone getting them on top of fried potatoes and some kind of saucy thing on top seemed very popular. Servers very friendly. Always been a fan of theirs for lunch, now I get to add breakfast. Love it.

Joe our waiter was probably one of the most patient men on the planet, we came in that day with a group of 35 – 40 people and he was the ONLY waiter on staff that day. But he was able to take all of our orders and kept us all entertained while he was at it. I will definitely come back whenever I’m in Downtown LA.

Quick burger fix in downtown that you know will deliver. I had the spicy burger with fries and a drink for approximately $ 10, and if I weren’t such a pig I would have split my burger in half and ate it for dinner. I did however bring home the fries. The service is quick and there’s lots of seating.

Food 4* Service 5* Prices 4* Parking 2* Ambiance 4* Bottomless fries and great service. It’s a chain so the menu is pretty standard, but it serves to fill the burger craving. I normally sit at the bar because of the TV. I’m a fan.

I’ve avoided this place like the plague because of the low Unilocal rating. However, I don’t get the star average??? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this Johnny Rockets. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and the value is spot-on for DTLA. So lets talk burgers — it was a perfect. A perfect, juicy, flat-top cooked burger with all the fixins and served with a side of fries or a salad. I can’t complain Johnny and I am sorry I stayed away for so long — you’ve got it goin’ on!

My co-worker killed a fly with the straw dispenser! It was like Kung Fu or something. Love the burger and fries though…

I’ve always been a fan of this place. I love the classic feel with the barstools and counter and I thought they did a really great job on the décor. In review of this particular Johnny Rockets(my favorite location is down at Laguna Beach) in DTLA, it has somewhat limited indoor seating and some outdoor seating along the edge of the second floor terrace where this restaurant is located. Service is great and the food is flavorful as usual. Parking: None Price: $ 6-$ 15 per person Wait: Not bad during the lunch rush

The burgers are pretty basic, but the shakes are really why you come here. We came in 2 mins before closing, and got dirty looks, but we ate quick. The spot was clean, and the service was quick(probably because we were the only people in the joint and they wanted us to scram.)

Johnny Rockets serves one of my guilty pleasures. I enjoy their chili. I am not a fan of beans so I enjoy the opportunity to eat all meat chilis. The chili at Johnny Rockets is simple and tasty. The portion size is ample as well. It comes with onions, cheese and optional crackers. The rest of their food is ok for fast food. Nothing too special, but as good as most. Good food for the price.

I had their basic original burger, fries and soda combo recently. The burger and fries were solid, and generally unremarkable. I just wanted to note that when I ordered a cherry Coke, they gave me a cup with about 2oz. of cherry syrup, and I had to fill my cup at the fountain with regular Coca-Cola. Somebody told me that that was how it was done back in the olden days, but I wouldn’t know. It tasted just like a cherry Coke should, ie delicious. It’s just that I’ve never had the syrup separated like that before. I wonder if they’d give you more syrup if you wanted a refill.

The food here is solid, and the service is great. I can’t really complain about it, but I definitely can’t rave about it either.

Bleh– Came here over the weekend for lunch after we had been riding our bikes almost the whole day. There were only two people working, the server and the chef. We seated ourselves and gave our drink orders. Our sodas came 10 minutes later… and then we ordered our food which arrived after another 20 minutes. Not surprisingly our very average-tasting food came with cold fries. Everything(including the drinks) was all in to-go dishes, which just made the workers seem very lazy. But wait theres more… The grossest part of the meal was finding a hair in the fries– and no it definitely wasn’t mine or my boyfriends. If the server had been even mildly more interested in his job, then the rating would have been much better. Unfortunately the experience was a major turn-off from johnny rockets in general.

I had an entertaining time here. Went in an hour before they closed and my friend and I were the only people there. Sat outside, and the server was friendly and our food came fast. The price was, you know. Johnny Rockets. Outside there is also a super agressive strain of pigeons which I delighted in scaring off and dumping water from a bottle I brought on. The server brought us out an anti-pigeon spray bottle of water, and we delighted in luring in pigeons with a carelessly dropped french fry, and then sniping them with the bottle when they got too close to us. It was like a live-action version of space invaders. They probably would have stopped coming if we’d stopped dropping french fries, but that wouldn’t have made for a very memorable meal. The food was good, the server indulged us in our pigeon-invader game, and it wasn’t too expensive. Altogether adequate, I’d stop by here again sometime.

Meh, it’s Johnny Rockets. What do you expect? I think fast food hamburgers taste better than Johnny Rockets. The place is small and if you have a big party(not that you will take your entire wedding guests to eat hamburgers), good luck with that.

Located on 5th. And Fig, this place is very convenient and a block from the 110 fwy. Parking may be an issue, so good luck to you. 50’s style with 2015 inflation prices. Good burger. Good shake. But, Man oh Man 11 bucks? Plus tip? I guess it’s ok if you are stuck in the area. There was not an In N Out in site. I think if you are going to eat here, take a load off your feet and go to the downstairs quad area with Take Out. At least you can save a couple of bucks on the tip and people watch at the same time. — 1 big star for the price. but otherwise it would be aok.

I drug my adult son around DTLA on a walk and he was hungry so we stopped here. I have been to JR several times but not at this location. It was steady inside but not too busy. This location which I guess most are now you have to order at the register, pay and be seated. We sat at the counter so the cashier/server let us order there and we paid later(but we were right next to register). I get cravings for burger but since I don’t eat meat I get the Streamliner which is a Boca Burger… they are pretty decent but I still miss a real burger. My son likes the burgers here but never enough to finish a whole but the are pretty large. 2 burgers/fries and 2 drinks will cost you just under $ 20…I always forget this because I don’t really think it is worth the money but it is what it is.

«I feel like greasy burger today.» That’s the only time I go here and because it’s conveniently located across the street from my office. If you want a greasy burger, you won’t be disappointed. The food is descent and its’ not like anyone should have high expectations here because it is Johnny Rockets. To avoid the lunch hour rush, I place my order over the phone and it’s always ready when I get there to pick it up. If I have any requests for additional sides, they will accommodate for that too. On the few occasions that I actually ate there, I really like eating outside on a sunny day. They have a nice view up there and it’s nice to experience during lunch if you go early to get a table. The downside about eating outside is that there are no jukebox players outside. Understandable but a bummer. Also, no music outside either. A part of the Johnny Rockets experience is the old school jams, you know… Also note that they do have coupons available often. At my office, we take a bunch and post them so people can use them. Just an FYI!
