I was blown away. The chef was awesome, he even helped cater to a specific food alteration on the fried okra, using only cornmeal instead of flour and cornmeal. The mac&cheese was phenomenal! I mean, seriously. I am… I can’t describe how happy I was after I left the place. Everything was delicious. Everything was wonderful, even the waitress, she was the sweetest thing. Loved it, and now I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna go back and try everything at least once. They’re now open for dinner, so everyone flock to them and make them busy bees, because they have something special happening in that kitchen, and it isn’t all spices and starch. There’s bacon. Lot’s and lot’s of delicious bacon. I;m getting hungry again just thinking about it.

Burger Review. Burger: Tasty. Juicy. Good consistency. Not packed too hard. Needed more char. The herb mayo is great. Apply a thin sheen of their spicy Dijon mustard to burger to kick up the taste. My burger took quite long to arrive and was just above room temperature. Normally I would have sent it back, but when you’ve already waited a long time, you just want to eat. Bun: Too big and too sweet. Remove the top half and you’re better off. Otherwise the big thick bun overwhelms everything. Onions: Red. Mild. Expertly cut… thick-but-thin. THIS is how you serve onions on a burger. See pics. Fries: Good enough. Service: Slow but friendly and knowledgeable. The service is not systematic or probably even trained. Most likely just friends that were hired on. Fine… but don’t ever serve my burger lukewarm again… Ambiance: Frugal modern. Average quality workmanship and materials. Hip. Gayish. Bright. Upbeat. Huge windows. Not very big… could get overcrowded easily. I’d give burger 3+ stars. Very good if you’re near Silverlake already… but probably not worth travelling very far for.

Sorry… So bad… Waited 10 minutes for service when place was empty… Food came cold… only 2 people working… no one bussing tables… The remodel was done really cheaply… If you look close at contact paper peeling off walls and dirty corners… Yuk…What a drag… This place is in a death spiral… There are also a couple one time only fake good reviews for this place and nasty retorts for truthful negative reviews. The people that worked there were nice but overwhelmed. And why does L.A. have to have these tired droning playlists for a diner… The construction cut corners and this place is just awful.

Checked this place out because Forage(great place!) was closed… Seemed cool, laid back, fun and that’s how it was presented right when we entered. The hostess and waiter were extremely nice and sat us at a table immediately. Everything was fantastic, and then the wolves came out… and by wolves, I mean a shitty display of runny eggs(aka. the devil’s mess… we’ll get there…) and an average salad w/fried chicken. Now, first thing’s first, our waiter was nice but careless in every way! I’m a patient person, but it took 20 minutes to get a glass of water which my girlfriend and I initially requested when we sat down. Followed by coffee and OJ(the OJ was actually pretty good… great job! I still hate you though!) THEFOOD’S HERE!!! YAY!!! LET’S TALKABOUTIT… And start with my runny eggs or the devil’s mess as it’s called on the menu(and what a F’ing mess it was!). This specific scramble was presented on large plate that had enough room for the scramble, a pool of runny egg water that seeped out and a side order of soggy toast that buoyed over the pool(the devil’s spit… bad joke… that’s fair…). In a state of shock and confusion(that should be the name of the restaurant…), I re-ordered the toast and it came back 15 mins later just in time to take my third and FINAL bite of this disgusting wet revolting blob of a breakfast(I would have re-ordered but I was checked out at this point). Finally, to really put the cherry on top, THETOASTWASBURNT! Talk about adding insult to injury! Holy moly… actually, let me rephrase that, Holy shit! What an epic fail that was! Yikes to that! Ok, so I’m going to calm down now and talk about my girlfriend’s meal. This will be more relaxed because A) there wasn’t a huge problem and B) I wasn’t eating it… Long story short, my girlfriend gets her salad and it’s missing the avocado. NOT A BIGDEAL. We asked for it and they apologized. As they were gathering the avocado, we noticed the couple right next to us had the same problem. No avocado on the same salad! BIG F’INGDEAL! Again, what’s the F’ing problem here??? Circling back to the waiter’s carelessness… How could this dude not see the problem as he’s walking to our table and serving it to us??? Wtf??? It’s not like the place was busy! Not to take this incident personally, but I was almost I did something wrong. To be frank, I will NEVER go to this place again! And I hope you don’t either :) Ps. Ironically, we went on their one year anniversary and they were serving mimosas. Hah! May you be closed soon… Bitter? Yes, I am and so was the food!

Ate here for breakfast and wasn’t too impressed. I had the scrambled eggs & chicken sausage plate… everything was just kind of average and boring. I’d rather save $ and eat at home. Service was alright, but I don’t plan on going back.

Awesome spot. Great and extensive breakfast menu with great service. The French Toast stood out. Good coffee. Middle of the road on price. They open early when a lot of nearby cafes are still closed. Kudos to that.

I went to K2 today for breakfast while I waited for my car to be serviced at Jiffy Lube down the street. I ordered a decaf coffee to find out that they dont brew decaf they just use a pod and pour hot water on it, and the server told me it was watery, so i settled for a lemonade. Thought it was a little weird that they dont brew decaf. I know I know why drink coffee if not for the caffine, but I like the flavor and not the jitteryness. I ordered the fried chicken and gravy with eggs potatoes and wheat toast. I could tell the chicken was fried to order and it was great along with the gravy and the eggs which were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were a little hard, i think they needed some more time on the grill. Also the jam and butter came in those plastic packages. I think the place is nice, it would be cool for them to make jam or at least buy in bulk and put it in containers, I felt like I was at a diner. The toast was nice and thick which I loved. Its a cute place the server was a little strange and I saw him biting his fingernails then go in the back to serve food and that kinda grossed me out a little. But overall I loved the chicken and gravy. Just little tweaks here and there and quick reminder about sanitation and I think this place could jump from 2 – 3 stars to 4 – 5!

I had walked past K2 many times, always making a mental note to try this place out. The opportunity arose when my dad and step mom stop by for a visit! We were early enough that there were only a few people there. I was impressed by the modern-esque diner feel. I ordered the C.B.S(croissant, bacon, scramble). The eggs were scrambled with fresh herbs, which brought this breakfast to a whole new level. Their flavors were purposeful. The only downside was, by the time we were done, a lot more people had arrived and our server as no where to be scene. After waiting for close to 20 minutes for someone to clear our plates and bring the check, we ended up having to walk up to him and hand him a credit card. My advice… go early and in no hurry. If you can do this, then it will be worth it, cause the food is really good!

Could be so much better if it wanted to. The food was OKAY. Not bad for the price, could be better but really NOTBAD. I would go there more often if the restaurant wasn’t so darn dirty. Our table wasn’t cleaned off well, the silverware was dirty, the plates were dirty and because they were understaffed or too busy they had used the end of the counter to stack up diry, used, un-cleaned off dishes that caused flies to fly everywhere. Other than that– the service was fine. I head they had bad service before but the waiter and host were actually really nice, attentive and apologized for the wait. So if they cleaned up this could be a good place for people with average taste buds :)

SLOW. SLOW. SLOW. Okay, so I know some reviews here are poking fun at this place for having a very«Silverlake» staff.(Re: Tattoos & Hats) BUT, that shit goes without saying when you’re rolling in Silverlake. So, you have to get over that. The real problem with this place is it’s SOOOOO slow. I ordered a salad and had to wait 45 minutes for it. Even more infuriating was that I saw some workers just hanging out and texting or making phone calls. It seemed like half the people in that place didn’t even do anything. The food? I have no idea if the food was good or not because I was starving so much by the time the damn order came out. I *think* the food was fairly decent. But, definitely not worth 45 minutes for a salad. By the way, no one checked in on us during that time. When I looked outside at another couple, it seemed they were going through the same loooong wait too. Sigh. The waiter was a very sweet guy. I’m sure this is a situation where they just don’t have enough people working there… or something. Regardless, that place must be reading this stuff… so hopefully they’ll get it together.

WORST. SERVICE. EVER. The food is actually good. The chef was the only employee doing his job, and doing it well. It was just a bummer that I came specifically for the maple salmon salad, put my order in and 15 minutes later was told they were out and had been out for over an hour now. Would have been nice to know they were out of it shortly after I had placed my order.

I had been wanting to check out Café Stella and arranged to meet a friend there for brunch last Monday. Unfortunately they were not open for brunch on Monday so we walked down the street, spotted K2, were enticed by the menu choices, and decided to stay. I’ll break it down into rants and raves. Rants: Who doesn’t have lemons? Someone else’s lipstick should never be on your coffee cup. This is LA. We know good salsa and that was not good salsa my friends. Overpriced… but it is Silverlake. What else is new? Raves: Breakfast burrito was made to my specifications and was very tasty. Waiter accommodated all of our girly dietary restrictions without batting an eye. And he got them right. Very impressive. All in all… it was just so/so. It’s so close to Millie’s and Good and kind of near Brite Spot so I think I’d just overlook it next time and choose one of those spots instead… where I know they have lemons for my water.

As usual, my girlfriend and I take a million hours to decide where we should eat. I remembered passing by K2 on an evening walk we took 3 weeks back. I remember admiring the interior and savoring all the items on the menu they had outside. So we dropped on by and, wow, best call I’ve made in a while. The food was great. My gf had a steak and I had had salmon(don’t remember the specific names for those items but the local and seasonal items they use are delicious). Our waiter, Kit(I hope I spelled that right) provided great service with a smile. In my opinion that makes or breaks a dining experience. Also the music was a delight, which happened to be playing through Kit’s Pandora playlist. Oh, also, the cornbread before the main course was a good call on Kit’s part. I’m surprised this place wasn’t full. Kit explained to me that changes had been made. Well, if K2 had done poorly in the beginning, it sure as hell has improved now.

Came here starving after a hike at Runyon Canyon. I saw a tuna sandwich that sounded good on the menu… nope. They were out of tuna that day. Allllright, how about the chicken sandwich? That was a go. The best part about it was the Challah. The chicken was kinda bland, and overall the sandwich was meh. Oh I still devoured it due to aforementioned hunger, but otherwise… who knows. The side salad was a-okay, and I did like the sweet potato fries. Service was adequate, but I can definitely agree with notions of this place having a pretentious feel to it. Prices weren’t great. I likely won’t return.

I was very excited to have a new place down the street from me and was hoping it would be cleaner than EATWELL(which was what was there before). I love what they did with the place, it feels cleaner and nicer. But honestly, the food is not that great(although, the breakfasts are ‘ok’). The waitstaff there is generally not very nice, they’re kinda snotty and rude, but in the past few weeks I’ve noticed that they’ve gotten a little friendlier, I’m guessing the ‘boss’ may’ve read some of these Unilocal reviews and had a talk with them to be more friendly. I miss the neighborhood vibe of Eat Well, where the waitstaff would say HI to us and even remember us when we’d come in every day. For us silverlake locals, it’s nice to have a friendly place with good food, but unfortunately, K2 is not my go-to for this. There are WAY better places to eat in sunset junction area, but if you live in the hood and need a quick breakfast, then I guess K2 is ok, but if you live far, don’t bother.

I’m not surprised that their overall rating from 80 reviews is what is. This place just cannot get it’s act together! My first experience was when they first opened so I gave them some slack for their poor, slow service and mediocre food. I returned last week and it did not seem to have changed much. We waited 10 minutes, at least(not exaggerating) for a table. It was very clear that they were short staffed. We were finally seated. I ordered a glass of water. Never got it. The server was running around like crazy. My friend ordered soup and she could not eat it was so bad. I live in the neighborhood and I support all the local restaurants but this one I will pass on! It’s a shame that such a bad restaurant is taking up such good real estate space.

I really wanted to like this place since they opened. I have even gone back multiple times with the hope that someday they would get their act together. But today was the last straw! My partner and I were the only people in the entire place for breakfast. One would think this would mean they would get our order right in the kitchen, but no — an ingredient I had ordered in my omelette was missing. And my English muffin was either stale or overcooked, because it was so hard to chew that I couldn’t even finish it. To add insult to injury, there was a long curly hair in my potatoes. If I thought I could chalk this up to the place having an off day, I wouldn’t write a bad Unilocal review. But I’ve had similar experiences several times before. Sometimes, when the place is full, you can look around and see multiple other people who are unhappy with their orders, waiting 10, 15 minutes for a server to check on them. A few of the servers are great, but you never know. The food itself is tasty, but again, you never know if they’re going to get the order right(or if there will be hair or staleness involved). I am now kicking myself for even giving this place so many chances. SAVEYOURSELFTHETROUBLEANDDON’T GO.

I might return because the food is good and my dog can join me for sidewalk dining. Even though I like this place because of the good food and clean water my friends don’t like paying extra for water and they will never eat here because the owner is rude and lame. Hey owner… shame on you for being a dick to people that gave you bad Unilocal reviews!!! They have a right to their opinion. My opinion is that even though you may suck I like your place. So back off or you’re going to scare everyone away. Being polite is what you need to do to get good business. …and he got Unilocal to delete my update like only a facist would.

Although the interior décor seems to set the tone for a novel, modern interpretation of the casual diner, k2 seems to have focused a bit too much on the«casual» aspects of the diner experience. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the zombie-fied world of The Walking Dead realized, the staff here does an exemplary job of recreating it right before your very own eyes. It was duly noted upon sitting down and glancing at the menu, k2 charges diners a $ 1 fee for their specially triple filtered water, a slightly unusual offering more suited for restaurants west of the 101(skip it unless you’re in dire need to rid yourself of a dollar). What was truly surprising is k2 may also require an additional unadvertised fee for any semblance of service, since neither was this reputedly special $ 1 water ever refilled nor was our table ever graced with anything resembling acceptable service. From the moment we walked in it was obvious we had walked into a restaurant that was still sorting out the new restaurant jitters… several months later. We had to ask our waitress to take our order after she aimlessly wandered anywhere and everywhere besides our table for 15 minutes upon being seated(the hostess, to her credit, was friendly and even helped in clean-up duty); our dour-faced server eventually had to be reminded to check on our order after we patiently waited for 35 minutes, reacting at our inquiry with the visible emotion that one imagines an anal bleaching technician might respond with when told, «you missed a spot». Apparently a complimentary plate of ignore-you is offered in lieu of free tap water at every table! And it didn’t take Sherlock Holmes to deduce by the noticeably piping hot state of our two sandwiches and fries(the fried catfish sandwich had an excellent texture, but was fairly bland) that our order wasn’t correctly entered initially(or placed at all); the plates were obviously rushed out only after we pressed the issue. No apologies nor explanations was ever issued. Being the optimistic sort I am, I’d like to believe I did hear something that sounded like a «thank you» when our check was unceremoniously dropped onto our table, but the mumbled sound could have easily been the hoarse exhale of a virally infected zombie mistaken for pleasantries. Skip k2… at least until they find a serum to revive their waitstaff from their undead state.

Monday afternoon, my gf and I head out to Silverlake from Downtown LA, famished and excited to try out K2 that opened three days ago. I should have read the Unilocal, perhaps and give more time for them to get things together and fine tune their staff and service. Putting that aside, at least the quality of food should be OK right? I mean, it’s breakfast. It’s not that complicated. Well, let me get to the point, it was terrible. I want to give the benefit of doubt and give another month or two to get their food/staff etc. in order. I don’t think they were really ready to open until they inspect and maintain quality control and dish out what’s really on the menu. Here is my experience. We walked in and there was no one to welcome us. We had to flag someone to finally get a permission to sit outside, a table still filled with last customers meal. It took a while before it was cleared. fifteen minutes later, we were finally able to order our coffee, french toast and catfish-&-eggs with choice of bread. I ask for coffee cake. twenty minutes later, the waitress comes by informing me that they are out of catfish. OK, I tell myself, this place is still trying to figure things out since they just opened. While I look over the menu again, she gets us another set of coffee and that she would still get that coffee cake I wanted to try. I decide to get Kokomo Chicken sandwich – it says, «grilled chicken breast, roasted red pepper, crispy onion, sesame seeds, cilantro, lettuce, tomato on a challah sesame bun.» I let go my first order and decided to find peace with the change. Thirty minutes and two large cup of coffee later, our food finally arrives(almost an hour since we first sat since first order was canceled). First my gf who is French toast expert(that’s what she orders for breakfast wherever she goes most times), gives me wtf look. It’s was cold, very dry and tasteless. And my chicken sandwich? You be the judge. I posted a picture for you to take a good look and see if what’s said on the menu describes what you get. The chicken was nasty and wasted as if the grill wasn’t cleaned for months. I’m sure it was a new grill since it’s a new place, but how do you grill a chicken so messed up? after few bites, due to hunger, I decided I couldn’t eat anymore, as if the chicken was dropped on the floor and had that grainy sandy texture, overpowered by the burnt ash. I told the waitress that I wasn’t happy with the quality of the food and couldn’t eat. She looked at my plate and without a word, apologized and said she would show it to the manager. I paid for the coffee and barely eaten french toast and left a nice tip. It’s not the waitress fault. I hope things will get better for K2. It’s a great neighborhood and I wish them well. I didn’t expect smooth sailing since it’s new, but when it comes to the quality of food? That’s sacred and you don’t want to mess with that. SERVEWHATYOUMEANONTHEMENUPLEASE! Oh by the way, that coffee cake never came… but I suspect the waitress was frustrated and forgot by whatever drama was going on in the backroom. I would too if I have to serve the kind of food I was served.
