Horrible service. We ordered hot sushi, but it came from the chef cold, and we were sitting at the bar! We got our drinks after the rolls were served. They only served one of us our appetizer, then after the rolls were served came with my friends and said they were sorry they forgot. Then the chef was rude after we pointed out they messed up! Just a terrible experience every time, this one was the last. I don’t care if they are close. I’d rather drive over the hill in traffic for sushi before I ever come here again.

Okay sushi, okay service. It will do I guess just cause it’s really close from where I work. When there’s nowhere else to eat at, I go here! It is really weird how they’re Koreans but serve sushi? Hmm? The lunch specials are cool but still kinda pricey. I guess that’s just anywhere in Hollywood!

I’ve been coming here quite some times this month to this sushi place, All i can say its chill, relaxing sushi spot to hang out with friends good, My favorite plate on the menu is the chicken teriyaki rolls, and of course the miso soup ;) Great staff every time i go i get greeted and acknowledged thumbs up! Awesome pace

This place is right on the Hollywood strip, but it’s a lot nicer and cleaner than most other spots on Hollywood Blvd. I’ve been here 3 times, and all 3 times have been great. The service has always been quick and friendly. The portions and dishes are always too big to finish, and I’m a big eater. They offer quite a few vegetarian and vegan options as well. I have never actually had the sushi here, but I recommend the spicy teriyaki tofu bowl. It also includes a bowl of miso soup!

I ordered their dragon and caterpillar roll. Not the best I’ve ever had. It wasn’t delicious. Not worthy of 5 stars or a spot on hollywood Blvd.

My random sushi bar neighbor was cute and interesting … She gets 5 stars. This place, however, is not cute or interesting. They took 20 minutes to take my order with nobody here. I had to put on my pathetic face and look around for somebody to take my order. Meh. Chirashi came with standards but lacked any imagination or presentation. It felt like I got the dregs of the fridge. Until this point, I’ve never had a Chirashi without tamago or masago/tobiko. Skimpy. The jalapeño yellowtail was room temp. A sushi pet peeve of mine. Blech. The kicker is when they brought me the wrong order, blamed me for ordering the wrong thing and then proceeded to give me attitude when I sent it back. C’mon guys. I was super jovial and happy till that point… The model customer. And I know what I ordered. As I type this, I’m getting the stink eye from the sushi chefs and waitresses because they made a mistake and were too distracted to pay attention to my order. I think I may get shiv’ed on the way out. If you don’t hear from me again, you know where shit went down. To my cute sushi bar neighbor … I hope I’m alive after this so we can go sing karaōke in the PNW

This restaurant was a huge surprise for me… huge. It’s on Hollywood, slightly away from the chaos, but close enough for it to be «grouped in» with all the fast food, overpriced Boulevard restaurants. But it’s none of these things. They have interesting and unique rolls, extremely fresh fish, appropriate use of sauces, and really nice staff. They’ve also come up with creations that are made without rice and without seaweed as the wrap(e.g. the Pink Lady). Not in the mood for sushi? They also have a hot stone bowl bibimbap, which they do well with kimchi, crunchy rice, and bulgogi. This is one of my favourite dishes at Kino. My only complaint is that when it gets busy on weekends they tend to get frazzled and have difficulty organizing the tables and managing the orders. In all honesty, however, in the 10-months I have been coming here, this has only happened once or twice. Weekdays are pretty quiet and its easy to find a table.

Didnt realize how nice this restaurant was until i went to Shintaro japanese restaurant nearby. I love sushi and ive eatten sushi all over the place, this is the best sushi restaurant in central hollywood, avoid shintaro japanese at all cost! Its a good restaurant for its location and price, you wont find 10 – 15 dollar big rolls in middle of hollywood in a pretty nice environment, definitely recommend

Overwhelmed in LA. So what’s new? I’m just not an LA type. Not skinny enough. Not built enough. Not commitment-phobic enough. Not shallow enough. Actually that last one I got down pat. Jamie W. and I were in the middle of that tourist war zone that is the Hollywood and Highland Center right after a three-plus-hour bus tour with no realistic built-in bathroom breaks. In other words, we were in a mood and hungry to boot but nowhere near an eclectic neighborhood like Koreatown where we could have delighted in some home-style bibimbap. The thought of getting the car out of the shopping center garage and snaking our way through the still-life traffic was just too daunting for us to consider. Did I happen to mention there were no bathroom breaks on that bus tour? So we walked with our thighs epoxied together a block and a half due east on Hollywood Blvd and found this spot. It was mostly empty which initially concerned us since we wanted to see the health inspection score in a prominent place. We took our chances because the menu was so expansive that we figured we could find something. Like a bathroom. Which we did. But back to the food. I’m not sure why, but I was intrigued by something that I knew had to be wrong, the $ 5.99 bowl of Garlic Butter Edamame(photo: ). I’ve heard of using sea salt but garlic butter? As I suspected all the extra flavor was on the soybean skin, so you had to suck on them before discarding. At least that’s what I did anyway. Jamie decided he would still fulfill his Koreatown dining dreams by ordering the $ 10.99 Bibimbap. Not the stone bowl variety, mind you, so what came out was more of a salad with beef and an egg on top(photo: ). He liked it surprisingly though he did miss the heat. For me, I went with the $ 10.99 Rainbow Roll, which was fresh enough and quite standard issue with a combination of tuna, salmon, tilapia(an interesting switch) and shrimp wrapped around rice stuffed with crab meat, avocado and cucumber(photo: ). It hit the spot though not my long-term memory. We both scored small bowls of miso soup, but it was as generic as can be with tofu cubes a rare occurrence on our spoons(photo: ). But believe me, we could have done a lot worse in the Hollywood jungle. FOOD — 3 stars… middling variations on Japanese and Korean dishes with a bibimbap turned into a salad AMBIANCE — 3 stars… more spacious than you would expect with even patio seating SERVICE — 3.5 stars. mostly attentive though a bit confused at times TOTAL — 3 stars… not a bad Japanese-Korean fusion spot on Hollywood Blvd just in case the other options are overrun with tourists

What a surprise. Considering this restaurant sits at the heart of Hollywood, we experienced a clean, inviting atmosphere followed by courteous service and excellent food. Make sure you try the fantastic roll. It truly was fantastic.

I have no reason being harsh here only because Hollywood blvd is a $#*+ show and can be claustrophobically crowded I went here past the lunch rush Typical crowd for the blvd Large people and one large person family and BIG prices very expensive bc Location location location realize that is going to double prices for everything under the sun even miso soup I never got the waters I ordered I felt it was weird the menu said the ramen was instant, that they offered Korean and Chinese I never feel right about combining countries The spicy tuna roll was chewy the Rice was dry dry The salad I ordered never made an appearance People in my group were ready to leave when I saw the waiter walk out with it then back to the kitchen Meh it was as boring as bagged lettuce(because it was trust me because I boy bagged lettuce and all the squiggle pieces of tiny red cabbage and little carrot shreds were an obvious indicator) The chicken was about 1.5 ounces and that a generous guess It was super thinly sliced and grilled but a little greasy and weird fake looking grill marks like Mickey Ds The green apple soju cocktail was bleh it had ice cubes floating and came In martini glass from an embassy suites! And in San Francisco no less … Actually South San Fransico Airport Is this a joke? It was a poor experience but I was hungry and I’m not for or against the establishment actually more against

Kino is being added to my ever-growing list of awesome Sushi joints in the Hollywood area! Stumbled upon by accident while walking along Hollywood Blvd on my way to Katsuya I decided to give it a try rather than suffering through the heat. Not being super hungry I only ordered a miso soup and one plate of the Yellow Salmon Rolls to share and I was genuinely surprised with how fresh and delicious the food was! I really want to get back here and try some more of the menu, one taste was not enough!

Went here with a large group of about 10 – 12 friends. Service: They kept up with the groups orders and tended to us often. However, the waitresses do not have much personality or are that kind when talking to you. Also, the restaurant would split our bill but only up to 4 or 6 cards I believe. So BRINGCASH. Food: They have an interesting menu that is a mix of Japanese and Korean dishes. I ordered the Bulgogi Bento box(14 $) and my boyfriend had the Spicy Tuna bowl with rice & avocado(13 $). I enjoyed my Bento box and there were large helpings. I wish I had the Spicy Tuna bowl ! It was a deconstructed sushi type of dish with a large portion of spicy tuna. Atmosphere/Location: In the midst of Hollywood bars(across from the Pig & Whistle and the Musicians Institute. The restaurant is smaller, probably citing up to 70 guests at max. Simple and similar to most sushi spots that are in this price range, nothing extravagant but works.

I love me some sushi and this remains to be my «go to» place within walking distance. The food is consistently good and while the service can wane a bit it’s due to the students that they hire. With that said, the sushi is a decent quality. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not 5 star /5 diamond quality, but it is located right on Hollywood Boulevard. People watching galore and always a free show happening. The miso soup is always yummy and there’s outside seating available most evenings. If you go, park on a side street and enjoy the walk — it’s worth it. See you there!

I really enjoy this place. Is never too packed and the servers are always nice and efficient. The one downfall is its location. Because it is on Hollywood Blvd, sitting on the patio is a nightmare, as any time I’ve sat on the patio I’m always harassed by some random looney. The vibe on the inside is nice and calm and the music is never too loud. I come here often, actually.

TERY. This is the name of my sushi dealer at Kino Sushi. I come in, sit down, and Tery, the master, takes care of me quite well. This is my second time here and I don’t have a single bad thing to say. The sushi tastes fresh and it’s presented well. I’m a late night guy so their sushi happy hour from 10pm to 11:30pm fits the bill. I love this place!
