Needed to grab some beer before a party and they have a good selection. Too bad they have to keep all the beer locked up though! Also fortunately they had a public bathroom. Highly recommended for your getting beer and dropping the kids off needs.

Great little neighborhood market with a solid selection of Produce, Beers /Wine, Homemade Goods(Salsas, Cookies, Amazing Sandwiches!). Luckily stopped by here on my way home and was surprised to find a store with two personalities a traditional neighborhood market with pride in its products it selects and Gourmet Style stations offering good eats and coffee. The staff was very nice. I had the Fried Chicken sandwich which was made with either ranch or bleu(went for the bleu) and it was real good, the bread was great too. The wifey had a pesto sandwich which she loved as well. These guys take pride in their sandwiches. They also had a great broom selection, those Fiori Brooms are the best!

Working very close we come here almost every day for coffee and drinks. Love the new intelligentsia coffee and the juice bar. This place has everything you need, great beer selection and fresh veggies. I love their guacamole. Rana and her staff are the best!

What do I like about this place? Well first the girls at the juice bar are always really nice and helpful. Then I like to walk around and take a look at the variety of things they sell at the store. I can always find something new and good. They bring stuff that u can’t hardly find I other big retailers. And last and very important… It’s just around the corner from my house so I support my neighborhood business

Love forever. That’s all I wanted to write but Unilocal wouldn’t let me post so little. Maybe they should learn that less to say might be the best review of all. To reiterate. Love. Forever. We’re going on 3.5 years now. Keeps getting stronger and stronger.

I love this place. It’s such a great fit for our neighborhood, and the deli makes consistently awesome sandwiches with great ingredients and manages to do so affordably. Their coffee and juice bar is excellent as well, and for a small market they have a good selection of product to keep everyone in the hood happy and fed. And, the people who work there are all very nice, so I definitely recommend supporting this local business as much as possible.

I wish there were markets like this in every neighborhood. Best deli sandwiches at Monte 52(which should be open later btw) Little fruit treats. Juices. Ice cream. The best beverage selection in the cold cooler. Best chips. Best. Best. Best!

Never had to wait 1 hour for a sandwich. Should have a better system in place to expedite the orders .i would give a zero but I guess you need one star for food.

The market deserves 5 stars. They have Unique variety of items, from win, kombucha, vegan mayo and all the way to shampoos and deodorant with many cruelty free options. The produce is always convenient and Fresh The deli deserves 5 stars too. The sandwiches are great with two vegan options. The sides options are very delicious. Now for the not so great. Coffee/juice deserves only 3 stars. The plain hot coffee and Ice coffee deserves 5 stars but for the lattes I can’t even come close to that. For 5.25 a soy latte with intelligence coffee I expect a great high end product and honestly it’s not even close to that. I would rather go to terra Mia for a latte down the street. The flavor and taste is just so poor here. Honestly I have tried many times and have had different baristas make them but it’s not their fault, I believe it’s the machine they are making the lattes with. You need to invest in a better espresso make for the price of your lattes. I even would say Starbucks has better lattes then here. If you don’t believe me buy a latte from here and then go down to 56th and and monte vista and try a latte from terra Mia you can’t taste the quality.

La Tropicana is one of those little neighborhood markets that doesn’t look like it could be too much from the outside until you go in. First, let’s start with the beer selection. This is not your typical Bud/Corona/whatever else the hipsters are into nowadays. They have local beers. They have beers from places I never even heard of. Same with the wine selection. Now, let’s get to the coffee and juice bar. I never had the juice bar but my husband recommends it so I take his word for it. The coffee, however, is very nice. I recently had the chocolate milkshake with a shot of espresso in it and Lord have mercy… I was about to do a praise dance in the middle of the store. Fresh produce, very friendly people. Also, when you check out their juices in the refrigerators, like where you’ll buy sodas and waters, check out the tea selection as well. Highly recommend.

3.5. Friendly little neighborhood market with limited selection, but in this neighborhood choices can be a bit limited. On a Saturday at 3:00 p.m., there were no deli selections, which I’m not sure is a weekend thing or just an everyday thing; it was disappointing, since this was something I noted on the Unilocal page and website as a featured item. One thing this place has in its favor is a decent beer selection, and we thoroughly enjoyed our Telltale Heart IPA. Note you gotta find someone to unlock the beer case for you, ’cause there is no honor system. Ice cream selections are fantastic, with McConnell’s Eureka Lemon & Marionberries(representin’ the Tri-Counties! Er… it’s a Santa Barbara company); and Talenti Gelato. Staff is very friendly, but that also means they will carry on full conversations with each of their customers, and time is not a factor. It takes me back to being a kid and going to the tiny little market on a corner of my grandparents’ neighborhood in Eagle Rock. I’d visit again, but would like to know when the deli is open.

Great little neighborhood market. They have tasty fresh produce, and interesting selections of it. Some plastic bins for dry beans and rice, canned goods, a butcher, a deli(sandwiches are fresh and delicious, but you must inquire about their operating hours because I think they’re different from those of the store itself), and now a coffee/tea/smoothie/juice and ice cream bar as well! They have a great selection of beers that they keep locked up so that the staff has to walk into the cooler and get whatever you ask for(which generally happens very quickly). There’s a selection of wine as well as various home essentials in the next two isles, and a bunch of odds and ends including smokables behind the counter. They keep some clearance items by the front along with other candies, juices and a revolving variety of treats. The manager(s?) stock the store according to the neighborhood demand, which I think is great, and you get to shop more like a European(for today and possibly tomorrow). Come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve tried any of their loafs of bread(other than the sandwich buns, so I cannot say for sure, but I think they also bake. And if you came walking, and your hands get too full, they even sell carts with which to wheel your stuff back home.

I am so grateful for this market! The butcher is fantastic, choice meats, responsible — I love that they get a whole pig and you can sign up to buy the parts you want; they even sell the bones. Awesome. Monte 52 deli in the back makes the best breakfast burrito and some killer sandwiches. Their roast chickens(call to order) are juicy and delicious. The juice bar is INCREDIBLE — perhaps my favorite part of the market. The Hulk or Vampiro are my go-to items. I hear they now stock Intelligentsia although I’m not a coffee drinker this I’m sure for some people is a step in the right direction… Produce could be fresher on some days and some specialty packaged items are getting a bit too pricey for me, but hey, they get to choose their targets and I am happy for them! It’s an awesome friendly spot! Keep it real.

Love this market. A great example of a local family run market that caters to the historically Latino community and the new hipsters coming to town. Awesome produce, bionicos, sandwiches, decent liquor selection and a simple selection of home essentials. They got a little bit of everything and friendly staff!

This place is fantastic! Small town vibe in the big city. Great produce, meat and beer selections and a juice bar that isn’t outrageously priced! And the deli Monte 52 inside is amazing! Some of the best sandwiches in the area! The owner is bright and friendly and seems to try love her work and business. This is contagious. All the workers are friendly and I usually see the same employees which says a lot about a place. So glad this shop is here!

Over the years of living in HP I’ve stopped in this market every now and then basically to grab drinks and snacks, I’m not sure if they’ve gone through a recent ownership change or they just decided to try something a bit different but they’ve gone through some changes, and sometimes change is a good thing! First to the other reviews the mentioning Meat and Sandwiches/food — Monte 52 Sandwich Shop has their own review page! Fresh squeezed Juices, Smoothies, Ice Cream, Bionicos, Organic Produce, and other typical items you’d find in your neighborhood market. They also have a good selection of your«Hipster Beers». And don’t forget those Chocolate dipped Coconut slices, Strawberries etc at the counter! ((((Now I must lay the smack down!)))) TURNYOURREFRIGERATORSDOWN… many times I’ve gotten sodas from you that are b-a-r-e-l-y cold… *Prediction — Between the Market & Monte 52… This will be the next Hipster hang out in HP Monte 52 Sandwich Shop — Review to follow!

My neighborhood grocer. Best produce and organic meats! I’ve lived down the street for a year now, slowly but surely Tropicana is carrying more and more items that appeal to us younger HParkers. Don’t be fooled by the bag of gluten free«Pirates Booty» though. You can try the homemade ceviche or salsa, guacamole and fresh pressed juice. I always give in to the chocolate covered coconut slices at the counter. The staff is so friendly.

So pay via debit card and I was dinged 50 cents. Why would you not tell me first? That’s just rude. I could have just gotten cash from my car. Don’t use a card if you spend less than $ 10.00. Good place for stuff in HP90042 The store is true to it’s roots with a mix of what the demographic of HP needs.
