Is this a money laundering front for a diamond cartel? It’s certainly no viable restaurant. The food was way overpriced and not very good. The atmosphere was generally awkward if not downright unpleasant.

Lagos is the only African restaurant I’ve been to besides Ethiopian and Moroccan places but I was pleasantly surprised, based on the reviews that are on Unilocal. The food was perfectly spiced and was very fresh and hearty. The yam fufu is lovely with the variety of stews they serve up. I’ve been a few times now and the quality has been consistent. I would give the food 4 stars but the atmosphere is quite lacking. 80% of the tables have been empty and there is an odd smell of cleaning fluid that fills the air. The woman who runs the restaurant has always been friendly and pleasant.

This place would be cool if the owner wasn’t a raging witch! I called to order take out and she’s yelling at me about her being busy and they are about to close. I was only calling to find out if I could order or not. Don’t yell at me! I can take my freaking business elsewhere. She needs to learn how to talk to people. I am Nigerian and if I want better food and a nice and welcoming owner I will go and see Veronica at Veronica’s Kitchen. I wont be ordering food from Lagos African Cuisine anymore. The owner is not nice.

I won’t be coming back. I work near there and yesterday I decided to stop in for lunch. After all, I’ve never had African cuisine and was curious. When I walked in, the place was empty. Not even any staff. Granted it was about 2:30pm, but still? I looked for a moment for a menu, didn’t see one, and was turning to go, and finally somebody came up and greeted me. I ordered a lunch special, to go. Chicken with fried rice. 7 or 8 bucks. It came decently quickly, but when I had left, they hadn’t included napkins or utensils! What the hell? And the food wasn’t great either– just a bunch of rice, and three small pieces of chicken, bathed in something that tasted vaguely like cocktail sauce. I was so disappointed. Definitely not coming back here; not worth it. They may take credit cards, but they declined mine and asked for cash instead. While they do offer take-out, they do it poorly and I doubt they do much of it. Credit cards and take-out seem to be special, rare requests.

If you’re looking for sub-standard over priced African cuisine served with MAJOR attitude than you’ve come to the right place. We should have been suspect from the start as upon walking in this meager looking establishment— it was empty. This restaurant is on Wilshire Blvd in the MIracle Mile district that any restaurant worth it’s salt is bustling with patrons on a beautiful weekend afternoon. The«B» food rating should have thrown up more red flags; but we were determined to give this place a try. Unilocal has this place listed under«Ngoma Restaurant» with 3 ½ star rating and I thought this was the same place. Evidently NOT(i hope as Unilocal rarely steers me wrong– it’s now called«Lagos African Cuisine»). To make a long story short… here’s the skinny on this joint. Service: D– It took someone 15 minutes to take our order(remember no other customers were in there). Took even longer for the food to arrive. The time vacuum continued with a 20 minute arduous task of getting and paying for the bill. I got suspicious anytime someone has my credit card that long and just called my credit card company a few minutes before writing this review and sure enough… they charged my card TWICE— which I asked the owner did she charge it twice and she denied doing this. This delightful evening event was served on a silver platter of apathy and no apologies for any of the waits described above. Food: Major MEH. The chicken did not look like chicken but burnt pieces of who-knows-what. The rice was decent. Bottom Line: Don’t waste your time, money, palate, or dignity at this place!
