I live in the area and tried a few places — I was surprised how talented are the stylists are. The haircuts are fair in price, the stylists remember your name and its almost like cheers, but a hair salon. I would recommend the location to anyone looking for a great haircut. I am more of the like to spend lots of money cause I think I am going to get better service, etc. This place is great! 5 stars all the way! Thank you!

I have been Going to Dawn Wade for years now. Dawn is amazing with color and highlights, my hair always looks great! i get compliments on my hair all the time. She uses great products so my hair never gets damaged even after bleach. Currently, Dawn gave me the most perfect ombré highlights. Dawn is not only a talented stylist but she has an awesome personality and when i get my hair done it never feels like a chore or an errand because she is soo much fun! if you want beautiful, hair color, ombré, highlights or a great hair cut ask for Dawn.

Ask for DAWN W. I love her! She does great color and is always a fun time :) Her prices are reasonable and she listens to what YOU want.

Highlights for the holidays mean I must book early with Reba cuz she’s in demand. I block out two and a half hours, although start to finish, it’s usually closer to two.
Over fifteen+ years Reba has adjusted my color formula for outstanding results that last until it’s time to do it again due to her tight meticulous weaving technique. Think three colors and close to 100 foils!
Yesterday, Reba and I recruited L & R’s, stylist Amos to document my transformation. Amos specializes in both color and hair extensions plus his photog skills are mighty.



Sitting to be pretty for any length of time is downright comfortable here AND parking is NO stress in the ample, free lot.

This is an awkward review to write and I’m not even sure it’s the right forum for this comment but I was so completely blown away by my recent experience there that walking out I was nearly speechless. Some Riva or Riba lady who works there was overheard spewing the most vile, hate speech against minorities, President Obama, democrats, the mayor — I thought I had walked into 1952! Why in the world this woman is allowed to open her mouth in public is beyond me but it completely ruined my experience there.

This place is awesome… I just move to this area n I found this salon… I freaking love it already. People is friendly, excellent customer service n that best of all excellent stylist n skin care professional like Amos and Jen… U have to try this place u would be in love after ur first visit.

been coming to this plaza for a while. after passing this salon numerous times and inquiring about pricing i decided to give it a try. they were very accommodating as i was a walk in. the stylist that did my hair, (think his name was amos) was vey friendly, funny, but most importantly did an amazing job. i got a full set of highlights for an awesome price. I’ve since referred my co-​workers to this place and vow to come back! I’ve definitely found my new stylist!

Love, love, love this place. Rita’s been doing my hair for over 20 years and both she and Laura are fabulous. They have both been at this location forever (used to be La Mirage Coiffure), but when the old salon closed, they bought it and turned it around entirely. They also have stylists who do Brazilian blowouts and Jen, the aesthetician, is great.

I love going to see Rita for my haircut and color. Like all these reviews say, everyone in this salon is very warm and welcoming, especially the girls but even the customers. They have successfully created a very sweet but sophisticated environment. After going several times, I have seen that work that has been done on my hair and on the other patrons and it is apparent that Rita and Laura are very experienced in their field. I love my style every time and have been very impressed with the color work Rita does. I also came to the salon right when they were in their transition period, so its been neat to get to see all the work they put into making the salon their own. It was quite a serious update! But like I said before, the welcoming environment is a major factor for me. I am used to small salons that really get to know your style and show you care and consideration every time. I’ve visited many salons in LA that want to charge very high prices and get you in and out as soon as possible. I appreciate Rita and Laura’s great prices and real personality. They also now have a girl that does facials for cheap so I cant wait to try her out!

I came here last Friday and got a great mani/​pedi from Cathy. Not only do my nails still look pretty good, but she got it all done during my lunch hour, cheerfully fixed me up when I mushed my freshly painted nail into her fan, and offered up some tasty-​sounding recipes.
While Cathy doesn’t have a spa chair, she put a clean liner into a footbath with a jet, and I was quite happy. Her entire area was very clean. She’s the only nail tech there, so call ahead for an appointment.
I gather that the current owners of this salon bought it from the previous, not so conscientious, manager. These gals have a terrific attitude — they were warm, friendly to regulars and newbies, networking to beat the band, and glad to give me the Unilocal discount. Plus, they had some cute Halloween decorations going on
They also have someone there who does eyebrow threading. I’ll be back to check her out.

I had passed by this place on numerous occassions on my late nights home from work and was curious to find out about this new salon. Unable to find much information, low and behold a Unilocal review exisisted, so I gave them a call to set up an appointment for a very overdue haircut.
The woman who answered the phone was one of their volunteers, a very sweet woman who was able to get me a spot with Rita at 9:00am on Monday, perfect time for me to pop on over before I started my work day.
This salon is located in a mini mall nestled around the corner of Gateway and Barrington, where many random dining options exists, but otherwise a mellow property during the day. I’ve been to many salons and although I feel it’s important to go with someone who knows your hair and continue to patron that business, there has yet been a place in LA that seems to give me a down to earth, yet caring experience until I visited this hair studio.
Rita took care of me, from the inital wash, condition and rinse, to the hour + she spent on my hair, in the end my hair is shiny, clean, cute and easy to manage, ahhhh…
Rita and her partner Laura have been in the business for 20+ years and it is great to have a business like this in MY neighborhood, they offer a number of services, but since I’m a pretty low maintenance gal, getting a good hair cut and being taken care of well is more than enough to keep me as a happy customer.
Friendly, down to earth environment and in such a hectic city this is a nice getaway from the usual LA attitude.
