Expand your mind. Let’s reach out to the Middle East instead of marginalizing them. So many Americans find ways to hate strangers, be afraid of them, and go to war out of that fear. How bout we get to know them. Then they won’t be strangers. They have culture and humanity just like we do. Here’s a good place to start.

I went to a music event there last weekend and really enjoyed it. It’s a pretty laid back place, and everyone was super nice. I would recommend an event there if it looks interesting, or if you want to learn about the art and culture of the Levent or the greater Middle East. I hope to go back.

I am so glad to have discovered the Levantine Cultural Center! I attended the Café Arabesque concert last week. I am a musician and go to concerts whenever possible, but it’s been a long time since I got to experience music in such a wonderful environment. The space is small and intimate and there was an atmosphere of a gathering more than a formal performance that did not sacrifice, but only enhanced the quality of the performances. Really, it was 3 concerts in one. Alfred Madain and the band Bedouin X opened with some classics from the Levant. They then shifted gear and covered some West African music, Alfred singing some songs in Arabic. Fantastic. After intermission, the two guests from North Africa — one from Tunisia, one from Morocco — played their related, but quite different instruments, sang, and inspired us to dance. Altogether, it was 3 and ½ hours of… mmmm mmmm. The space and music fostered a communal vibe, and I got to meet some new and interesting people. It was great meeting so many friendly folks. During intermission I checked out their library. Apparently they are open during the week as a not-quite-café(some tea on offer), book store, and resource for information about the Levant and surrounding area. I wish they were closer to my neighborhood so that I could just go and hang out there. I look forward to returning for more cultural events. Keep up the good work!

I love the Levantine Cultural Center. They have the best events and I especially like the comedy show«Sultans of Satire,» which performs at the end of every month. I’ve met some very funny Arab comics. Laugh out loud funny. I plan on going again this month!

Sarah’s War; Great story, great acting. A very moving story, very well presented. Intimate, small theatre, the cast is right there in front of you! Creative excellence!

I am thrilled with Levantine Cultural Center and so happy that I live nearby. As an Iranian Jew myself, I’ve enjoyed their cultural and political events, since I moved to L.A. It’s a window into the often misunderstood region that is called The Middle East. I truly wish we were all engaged in the constructive dialogue that is promoted by this center. Thank you for bringing Sarah’s War to stage.
