Manic Panic Style Asylum

So glad this store is down the street from me. The girls are always very sweet and the store has great items. I always know I am gonna find something to buy!

I have a black, dark purple, pastel purple balayage –rather I had. I didn’t follow my amazing new stylist’s instructions and have washed my hair in hot water multiple times because I couldn’t stand a cold shower at first. Well, I’ve learned my lesson and planned to take her advice and buy a purple dye to mix in with my (purple) conditioner to help extend what I have left of the purples.
I am so happy I found Manic Panic’s retail store! I have been looking for their products in store at places like Ulta and haven’t had any luck. By sweet coincidence I was on Melrose and noticed the storefront of Manic Panic and immediately made a bee line for it.
It’s a small store but don’t be fooled; it has every hair product anyone with (or wanting!) colored hair, could need. I was greeted instantly upon stepping through the door by (in my head’s version) a Tokidoki mermaid. I wish I had grabbed her name because she was very helpful when I asked for a recommendation as to which purple jar I should get. She also educated me about why purple is the hair color that fades the fastest.

Cute little store, with nice gothic clothings. Staff was really friendly and gave us some tips where to go out in Los Angeles. Thumps up

I’ve been in here twice to pick up some hair color. I’m trying to be hip and jump on this awesome bright hair trend. The girl who works in here (I didn’t get her name — :-(with teal/​green hair) is AWESOME. Both times she really took her time with me to explain the process and what to expect. She even helped me picks great color that will work (show up) with my darker hair. Great place and great service! Thank you!

This place is rocker heaven they have koooool hair dye, leather jackets, wild t-​shirts and apparel and some rocker vintage punk mags the cashier is really friendly and they will special order stuff if they do not have it in stock they have kool belts and wristbands too etc etc… soooo cum on by they would luv too help you with your shopping needs…

I loved my experience at Manic Panic. Marley cut my hair and she was very nice and more importantly, I LOVED the haircut she gave me. It is perfect. I wanted a little more of a punk hairstyle, which honestly isn’t really my style and she compromised and gave me a really hip cut that is more my style. I really love it. I have to say that I have been looking for a place to give good/​hip cuts at a reasonable price. 40 dollars is very reasonable.

What an awesome find! My daughter has been dying for a certain hair style and after she attempted to do it herself I was in a panic. Not to mention her graduation was only a week away! We searched for the perfect salon and we found manic panic to be exactly what we were looking for. We did show up late cuz I had no idea the salon was on the boardwalk even tho I’ve been there a million times. Marly was patiently waiting when we arrived not to mention she was the perfect fit for the style and cut we were looking for. I didn’t know what to expect but Marly knew exactly what my little girl wanted and that was a plus for me. Not only did she completely keep me calm but made my little girl so excited to find her. I can’t say enough on how awesome Marly was! Not only did she give a cut but also educated my little girl on the hair cut and also took the time to show her how to do it herself. From teasing to hairspray to proper maintenance of the style. There wasn’t a dull moment from the minute we arrived. They were a match made in heaven! I can’t thank Marly enough not only did we leave there with my little girl singing her praises but she made her graduation pictures come out great with her new haircut!!! Thank you so much Marly for my daughters Johnny Thunders do and for an awesome experience she can’t wait to see u again:) Stay Golden…

Its a shame that this store is tucked away on the venice boardwalk. They have cute clothes and accessories. I believe its one of the only if not THE only Manic Panic retail stores. I know other places carry their product but this is their own store. I am a frequent hair dyer so i can spend a lot of money in this place.
If you like Manic Panic, you should stop by. They carrie all their make, hair dye, and nail polish. It’s a sub-​culter girls wet dream!

I went to this place to get my hair done.(COLOR ONLY).
My hair was already dark brown. I asked for all black with red streaks.
It took her 6 HOURS!!! WTF? Did not use no toner nor conditioner. she wasn’t going to blow dry nor flat iron it! Shitty flat iron… There was black dye on my ears… my forehead and on the back of my neck!!! And she didn’t even take it off! I had to go home to scrub it off!
I paid $ 135.00 for this!!! What a rip-​off!
I cried when I got home…
The hair color came out some what decent…

Store stocks all my favorite shades of mayhem. When I need color, this is the place I count on. And count your dollars only 7 buck all day beachfront parking next door? This is LA and I am stoked there’s a lot nearby.

Quirky store hidden in the brick Gingerbread Courtyard off the boardwalk. I walked here with purpose after direction from a local hair salon on where to get these hair extensions I wanted.
The store carries all sorts of funky, goth chic accessories, makeup and wear. There’s a current focus on Halloween costumes, but I suppose if you ever wanted something cool and were close by, it won’t hurt to stop in to check out the items. I ended up getting the extensions I wanted, plus a nifty $ 5 ring.
The girl behind the counter was nonchalant at first and friendly/​conversational near the end. Some (definitely tourist) people walked by and commented on the store name in a somewhat degrading fashion, and the girl made a, if anything, comparably belittling reply. I like it — a rock punk store with attitude and items to match!

While this may not be as big as the one in NYC this was definitely a treasure for me to find when I was visiting Venice Beach. The staff was really friendly, they even had some sales going on for all the blue merchandise. I wanted to buy alot of things but was trying to keep my budget tight. I did leave with a wonderful Misfits cardigan and a complimentary nail polish. Can’t wait to visit California again and will definitely make another stop here.
