I suck at party planning! So with my birthday approaching on the coolest day ever, 10÷10÷10, I knew I had to do something awesome to celebrate. Then I came across the Outdoor Cinema Food Fest website only to find out that the coolest movie ever to come out of the 80’s is playing the night before my birthday! BACKTOTHEFUTURE! It’s as if the event planning gods were looking after me :) Knowing I would have a big group, I waited until I got all my RSVP’s so I can purchase discounted«Group of 4» tickets online. Unfortunately, the night before the movie those group tickets were sold out. :(…HOWCANTHATBE? Individual tickets were still on sale. Well at $ 8 a ticket it’s still a bargain. This event has two different locations. We were at The Corn Fields near Chinatown. Everyone in my party, including me, didn’t know what to expect. But we all had the same reaction: WOW!!! We arrived an hour before sunset and you can see the most beautiful view of Downtown LA behind the screen. The screen is HUGE so there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Unless you sit behind someone that brings in a tall lawn chair. They have rules posted on their site about bringing in chairs no higher than 6 inches off the ground. They really need to enforce that better. My group laid out tons of blankets on the grass to claim our spot. At least 10 food trucks were lined up for the event. They even have a bar with very good chardonnay. I didn’t get a chance to browse the food trucks but my awesome friends brought me back a veggie taco from a Korean fusion(but not Kogi) truck, tabbouleh from a Mediterranean truck, and french fries from the Shrimp Pimp truck which had this amazingly long line that Jin Y. was in forever! One of the major highlights of my evening was the DeLorean! Yes the actual DeLorean used in the Back To The Future movies reassembled to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease. I placed my donation in the Flux Capacitor and proceeded to get photos of my BFF and myself driving the DeLorean! When the movie started, the picture quality was good, the sound system was good, and I was in good company. Not just the friends I invited but I absolutely love it when large crowds of people laugh, cheer, and applause in rapport in each other! Especially for a shared love such as Back To The Future! P. S. The weather was PERFECT that night!

This was so much fun! Am I really the first one to review it?!? Please let me know if I missed it… I went on opening night at the Grand Hope Park which is basically FIDM, which is right across the street from our loft! I even went home mid way to use the bathroom instead of the port a pottys! They were nich though and plentiful. Watching a movie outdoors with good food, neighbors, and a full bar! Come on! Plus the fact that we walked, you can’t beat it. It cost $ 8 to get in and unlike the Cinespia Cemetery Screenings, you can’t bring your own picnic or wine. Instead they have a bar and like 4 or 5 food trucks offering everything from $ 3 hotdogs to asian inspired tacos and smothered fries. KOMODO tacos rule! A fun evening and it was really well organized. Check out their website and the pictures! It’s every saturday night through August at different parks around the city. Thanks guys!
