Thoroughly mediocre. Responsive to email, but pretty uninterested in my life and issues. For anything involving discussion unrelated to medication, he will refer you to a therapist.

Weingold sent me a bill from a visit 1.5 years ago after I had already paid him for the visit. Be cautious of his billing or any mail coming from Sharp Management Group in Huntington Beach. They are sending phony bills in the hopes of collecting mounds of money for Dr. Weingold. Greed runs rampant in this capitalist medical business. Awful practice.

Dr. Weingold is an exceptional physician and a wonderful person.
Psychiatry is a journey to learn coping mechanisms and find solutions to some of life’s issues. There is work to be done, and the responsibility must fall primarily on the patient with the guidance of Dr. Weingold. People who have left negative reviews have clearly not put forth the time, or effort, to have the privilege of working with Dr. Weingold. Notice the word «work.» If you are not willing to face some harsh realities don’t waste his time. If you want to get well and take responsibility for your life,
make an appointment. Dr. Weingold has saved my life, and I wouldn’t be functioning without him.
I have no doubt he can do the same for you.

Dr. Weingold is the most non BS doctor that I have ever been to. He is so direct with his observations. He is not one to put up with denial or lack of personal insight. He is exactly what I needed at the time that I saw him.
He won’t coddle you. However, if you need a hand to pull you out of your pit-​of –despair, Weingold just might be the doctor for you.

Without going into detail, this Doctor got me into trouble with a medication, because he was not knowledgeable of its true effects and outcome. and, he was extremely rude and insensitive during our termination. Be careful.

Dear Dr. Weingold,
You probably need to find yourself a new receptionist. I just called in as a referral to be a new patient and I was trying to schedule a consultation. Your receptionist was VERY rude, sounding like I was a nuisance to her day. She blurted out that the only available appointment was a month away, as if to shoo me away from your office. I said that date would be fine and then, after a few exchanges where she complained he couldn’t hear me and was rude again (she obviously needs a hearing aid too), she asked what my insurance was. I told her. She made me repeat it twice because she couldn’t hear. Finally, when she got it she berated me about whether I had spoken with my insurance about out-​of-​network coverage. I explained to her that my understanding was that as long as the provider accepts my insurance it would be fine (which is how my insurance works!). She then decided she had to belittle me and tell me that I was wrong and that’s not how insurance «works.» I stayed calm and replied that mine does work that way, and as I was attempting to explain how mine works she cut me off, to which I told her she was being quite rude. Naturally, she got defensive, told me again «that’s not how insurance works» and I tried to explain how mine works and then she hung up on me. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! I could never imagine any professional’s point person to be so rude and clearly miserable and awful. If she doesn’t want to do her job then you should find someone who does. Unbelievable. I’m sure you don’t even care since you clearly have no desire to get new patients in the door. I’m sure you have plenty of patients anyway since your next appointment is a month away, so you’re clearly not hurting to pay the rent. But I hope you are the best at what you do despite the fact that you have poor taste in the people you entrust to be your practice’s façade. I will obviously be seeking another referral since this is too bad of a taste in my mouth to attempt to proceed past that miserable creature that sits at your front office.

I have been to a few psychiatrists, and Dr. Weingold is great. He doesn’t bs with you, but he’s also never late. He listens to what you have to say, and doesn’t see you an unnecessary amount of time if what he’s doing is working. What especially impressed me is that when I told him a particular symptom, he not only knew what I was talking about, he had read recent research on it and searched his office until he found what he was looking for. That article lead him to prescribe something no other doctor had tried – and he was the first doctor in 18 years to actually minimize the symptom. I have also found him to have a dry sense of humor, and his billing/​scheduling person has been nothing but nice to me. I wouldn’t go to Dr. Weingold for intensive talk therapy… but that’s not what he’s advertising!

Dr. Weingold is caring, compassionate, and most importantly an excellent & thoughtful doctor. Dr. Weingold has been my Psychiatrist for many years and he has helped me through many difficult times in my life. Dr. Weingold is old school — his focus is on making his patients better and helping them with medication needs. He is not a life coach, although clearly some people don’t know the difference (Jess R.) He is always on time and I never have to wait. This makes it very efficient to make an appointment before work. Parking is ample both in the underground lot and in the free structure across the street.

I have been a patient of Dr. Weingold’s for many years. He saved my life or certainly helped me save it myself. I’m stunned that there are even reviews for Doctors, as if they were akin to restaurants or hotels. But since there are I feel I must participate. Dr. Weingold is as good as it gets. Don’t mistake a calm demeanor for an uncaring one. If you want someone touchy, feelie go see a life coach, not a shrink. The man is incredible and no, I’m not crazy!

I was so happy to finally find Dr Weingold. He is very kind and extremely supportive. He has helped me so much, I don’t even know where to begin! I was going through a really hard time and he was able to figure out how to treat my issue quickly. I feel like a new person. Thank you Dr Weingold!

After finally getting in touch with Dr. Weingold, I was able to get my records back.

I have met with Mr. Weingold a few times and he is pleasant.
He is what I think a doctor should be.
I only wish his office were closer.

I don’t understand the positive reviews for this physician. He can not be trusted. He disclosed information abut my childhood to my husband. At one point, I called his answering service to discuss this situation and his wife, Chris called me back to talk to me. She asked if she could «help». BTW, his wife is not a doctor. If this isn’t scary I don’t know what is! Do yourself a favor and find someone else.

Love Dr. Weingold! He is quick, to the point, effective AND every now and then he’ll crack a little joke with his dry British-​esque humor. I’ve tried another psychiatrist since moving to LA and it was not a good experience. I say three thumbs up for Peter! :) P. S. his address is in the city of Los Angeles NOT Beverly Hills. Its across the street from the Ivy.

I am absolutely shocked by the poor reviews Dr. Weingold has received. 1 star due to his receptionist… really? That has NOTHING to do with him as a doctor! And 1 star because he «gets the job done» (a good thing, I reckon) and because of parking (plenty of free parking on the side streets, FYI)?
I’ve been seeing Dr. Weingold for 5 years. He is my brick and I’m grateful to have found him. He has unbelievable credentials – and that «rude receptionist,» well, she was specifically hired by Dr. Weingold to fill out all the hideous paperwork for insurance companies so you do NOT have to pay the fortune other doctors charge because they refuse to deal with insurance calamities. He is flexible and caring.
Don’t misunderstand his reserved personality when you first meet him. He’s truly assessing you as a patient and is not there to chit-​chat. He becomes very warm and has a dry/​intelligent sense of humor once you begin sessions. He also has a «no-​bullshit» sense of therapy… he tells you how it is and makes you think! Also, because he is a Psychiatrist/​MD not a Psychologist, his ability to monitor medication whilst in therapy is priceless. Otherwise, you’d have to go to a separate Psychopharmacologist, which is not beneficial since the latter doesn’t know you (or monitor you as a patient…)
At the end of the day, you either feel the match or you don’t. But to give a top doctor crummy reviews because of parking and a rude receptionist… c’mon!!! And as for…“he only wants to make sure your check clears” attitude… NO WAY. He never brings up money — full-​stop! Again, that’s why he’s paying a secretary to deal with billing (what do you expect – the service to be free? Does your car mechanic, dentist or rent get paid magically?)

Dr. Weingold gets the job done. With so many psychiatrists out there who do not know their subject matter (trust me, I’ve seen it all with helping my husband through panic disorder), he has been great. Whenever we have had emergencies, he has called back immediately, even on a weekend. He spends a long time with you each session whereas other psychs we tried only cared about our insurance and rushed us out the door. So many doctors are misinformed about anxiety medication, but not Dr. Weingold. He has truly helped my husband overcome many obstacles and we are now able to travel! I’m sorry if others have had a bad experience. Yes, he is not the most social, warm doctor, but if you need help and an expert at medication management, he will help you. He is also one of the rare psychs in LA who takes insurance. I’m so sick of these jerks who charge $ 200 – 300 a session. To me, that says it all. He truly does care.

After being refereed to Dr. Weingold by Cedar Sinai Psychiatry department I left a voice-​mail message asking if he was accepting new patients. I received a call back from his receptionist who was condescending and rude. I was so taken aback by her snotty attitude, lack of professionalism and unwillingness to answer my questions that I refused to schedule an appointment. If her behavior is indicative of the quality of service provided «no thanks». I figure I’ll same myself some time and aggravation by continuing my search. Text book example of «you never get a second chance to make a first impression».

not particularly warm or anything but gets the job done if you want mediocre care. parking is a pain, as per usual in the hills of beverly. i felt like he didn’t care about me, just cared if my check cleared.
