Today I needed something to do since I had the day off, so good old Unilocal came to the rescue. I headed downtown to Phantom Gallery, upon arriving I was disappointed because the doors were locked«around 1:30PM on a thursday.» Maybe this place is only open at night with all the bars and clubs in the area. It wasn’t a total loss though, they have huge windows on all sides, and I could easily see the names of the artists and the artwork from the street. When I was a little 1 year old my mom had my baby shoes cast in bronze, and my sisters baby shoes when she turned one, and my brothers when he turned one. This may sound random and strange to you, but they’re actually quite beautiful. Firouzeh Neman has his work up at this gallery now, and his baby shoe drawings reminded me of something from long long ago. The gallery is kind of a large hole in the wall, I didn’t get to experience the Salas, Chips, Cheese, and Chocolate candy that Jennifer had when she went. I’m sure when they are open they have music, and a nice environment. Perhaps I should have searched out a number for them and called first, but I didn’t. If your in the area and they are open you should definitely stop in and check it out, they also have bronze sculptures and a number of other interesting mixed media pieces.
