Primitive Modern Arts – PriMo Arts

I recently attended an Inspired Women meetup at PriMo Arts gallery after having attended a couple other events here and I have to say that it’s a wonderful environment each time.
I especially adore the selection of African and South American arts and crafts including sculptures, jewelry and clothes. A wonderfully curated space with a luxurious, home-​like presence.
The owner, Wamuhu, is always a pleasure to speak with and totally professional in every way. She reupholsters furniture and gives them new life, including some really awesome chairs, one of which I hope to own one day!

This unique oasis of art, functional art, clothing & accessories, books, furniture, etc. etc. is in a marvelous nook between Downtown LA and the Wilshire Center corridor. Wamuhu and her hubby Lane have established a business dedicated to folks who are, and want to be culturally aware and fashion forward!
I went to their 1^st anniversary celebration and bought the most comfortable ballet pumps in suede from India… ON SALE!
This is truely a dream space for shopping from the perception of a shopaholic New Yorker!

One of LA’s hidden cultural gems… you will find great African arts, crafts & fashion, often helping support local artisans and good causes in Africa. Wamuhu one of the owners, travels herself to Kenya to find much of it. Jana, the other owner, makes astounding art, especially her life-​size leather work. Located in a beautiful turn of the century building with high ceilings one finds quite an amazing selection of african and African influenced art work from large and lifelike leather sculpture to scarves and an eclectic assortment of earring’s and bags. Both the hosts, Wamuhu and Jana, are extremely informative and charming with very reasonable prices. a MUST see art studio boutique!
