This was something new and different loved the ambiance and the bloody Mary was spicy

Great pub nestled in DTLA. The restaurant itself is pretty large, they are able to have a large dining room along with a equally large bar area! They have monthly beer rotations where they bring in different draft beers on tap. The food was amazing. We ordered their Bang’n Mash and Flat Steak both which came out perfectly. The sausages in the Bang’n Mash tasted amazing, I personally enjoyed how much pepper went into the sausage, the mash that came with it was just as great! For the Flat Steak, we asked for MEDIUMRARE and they delivered MEDIUMRARE. The steak was lightly seasoned giving you more of that meaty flavor which I personally love. The Chorizo Mac n Cheese that comes with the steak were great and the chips they add on top of the mac n cheese gave it that extra umphf to make the dish truly great. Now parking, parking sucks. You’re lucky if you can find street parking otherwise you park in the surrounding parking lots. I parked across Flower St which gives you a $ 9 flat rate after 4pm. The other lot I saw charges $ 3.75÷15 minutes. There are a few more parking lots surrounding the block Public School 213 is on but I didn’t check their prices.

18⁄100 Unilocal challenge. * Price: not too bad for DTLA standard. Appetizers about $ 10, main dish is about $ 20+. 3+ star. * Ambiance: casual, sportbar type but more chic and modern to fit in the hip DTLA. 4 star. * Location: within walking distance from Pershing square. Hard to find parking. You can park at the building across the street but expensive! So take Über or train. 3 star. * Meals: modern Californian cuisine with a large drink menu! Everything is fresh and tasty! Good for large group! 4 star. * services: friendly and pleasant! 4+ star. Came here for a friend’s bday dinner after our treasure hunt activity in Pershing square! From outside, it is dark, old school with the neon sign… However, inside this place is pretty nice and modern. There are many large tables for large groups, big screen TV for sport channels. The menu cover looks like a school notebook… But that is pretty much it for«public school!» Food is great here… I wish our public school serves these kinds of food… Everything is healthy, tasty and fresh! Since we have a large group, we ordered mostly shareable dishes. — spicy humus with flat bread: pretty standard. The hummus is freshly made with a dash of red chilly and full chickpeas. — poke with banana chips: really yuumy — cutting board: salami slides, figs, cheese… Its good for sharing — crispy Buffalo cauliflower and wings: very good, the bread is perfectly cooked, very crispy but soft! — pizza: thin crust, freshly made Overall, this place is definite good for a large group to hang out and having good time! We definitely come back to check out their brunch menu!

I’ve been here a few times now and it has not disappoint! Vibe was always chill and I love how they have so many TV’s(just wish they were bigger for the NBA finals)! The HH food and drink selection were good(love the poke!!). I’ve never tried their regular menu food so can’t comment on that but I would highly recommend coming here for their HH/sports watching!

Public school’s pretty solid for some small bites and a beer — the bar area can get a bit crowded sometimes but the dining area is far enough to have a nice convo without having to yell across the table. My fave dish is the Mac & Cheese, the tuna poke chips are a close second. Cauliflower and tater tots are decent but I’d only order them again if I was really in a fried food mood. The wait staff is super friendly and were patient with my lack of beer knowledge — my first time there, they let me try 3 beers before I ordered.

4 is about right. I love the theme of this restaurant. The menu literally looks exactly like an elementary school composition notebook, and you really do feel like school is in session. The interior is nice and clean, with a modern feel to it. Came here last weekend for my first time at any of their locations. While I didn’t order any food, a few of my friends did, and I did indulge in a School House IPA, priced around $ 7. My friend to the left of me ordered the Flat Iron Steak, which comes with their Chorizo Mac n Cheese, for $ 27. The ladies across from me ordered the Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower, priced at $ 8. From the small tastes I had, I could tell that the food here was quality. Everything I tried tasted great. While this is probably a great place for happy hour, outside of it, we generally felt everything was sort of over-priced. That being said, I would definitely come back here again, and recommend this place to others. With various TVs spread out throughout the restaurant, it makes for a great place to catch the game. Walking distance to LA Live, Staples Center, and the majority of downtown, there is plenty to keep you busy after your visit. Go ahead and check this place out.

I’ve been to Public School 310 in Culver City many times, but 213 was much more cool! There is a lot more school-themed décor, including a whole wall of real microscopes. We came in Friday night to watch the NBA finals and the place was packed as Happy Hour was ending at 7PM. It turns out the HH deals are incredible, with quality appetizers ranging from as low as $ 4 to 7. The food, however, is pretty darn expensive when it’s not happy hour and not such a good value for the portion you get and the uniqueness of the food. We drank some pilsners which were reasonably priced, but my hummus app was a whole $ 9(normally $ 4 during HH) with an okay portion as they spread it out really thin in the container. My friend got fish and chips which was also nothing to write home about. I was surprised that a lot of the dinner entrees are around $ 25…way too much for a casual, albeit hip, gastropub. I said to my friend that if I wanted to pay $ 24 for a fried chicken dinner, we may as well go to Ledlow where it’s much fancier. Pretty cool that they have dart boards and shuffle board. I would return but just for happy hour.

I’ve come here at least 20 times in the past 6 months, I believe it opened late last summer. Amazing, fresh, delicious food in the dining room. The bar food/drinks/happy hour are equally amazing! The atmosphere keeps me coming back, not to mention the«BEATTHECLOCKDRAFTBEERS» every Wednesday night beginning at 9pm w/$ 1 draft craft beers. At 9:15 they go up to $ 2, at 9:30 $ 3, etc. Their«almost» bottomless mimosas and brunch on the weekend as well is frickin great! They have a bunch of games to play and activities to partake in, so fun! Try it if you haven’t, and if you want REALLY great service, as for Jasmine.

I’ve tried the quinoa and chicken salad and the salmon plate. Both are healthy and yummy, however the salmon is particularly delicious, so I recommend that over the salmon. It is super filling but healthy so it’s a good dinner choice, although I did order it for lunch. Love the super cute theme. It’s hard to have a conversation during the day because of the building itself … So that paired with the loud music makes it hard to meet during lunch or converse across the table without having to repeat yourself. Great food nonetheless. 4 stars.

I live right above this place and come here often. I am reviewing the salmon bowl with quinoa. The salmon was pretty good, but a little overlooked. Also at 18 $ it was pretty pricey for a regular lunch option. The quinoa though was well cooked and I appreciated the Brussels sprouts. So come here for more of a sit down experience with good food and good drinks.

I came here for Brunch with a friend of mine. The location was nice. Hardly anyone was there which was good and bad at the same time. Here’s why: When its slow management feels that if they have 2 people on the floor they could be able to cover all the tables. Wrong! Its Brunch & bottomless drinks for $ 10. I don’t blame my server, I blame the management. I got up 2x to order from the bartender because my server was taking care of other tables. By the time, my server came to us, I already got my drinks in my hand. It happens. & The GOOD part is when its really dead your server will get to u in a jippy. My buddy and I shared the Jidori Chicken with Green Chili Verde Gravy & Waffles. Also a side order of Bacon Cheddar tots with Sriracha Ketchup. Also he ordered the bottomless Mimosas & I tried the Bottomless Micheladas(which I didn’t like), then got the BeerMosas & it was the BOMB. After we did all that we played a game of Darts, paid our check, & left satisfied. I shall be back but at the one closer to where I live.

Delicious food/drinks with a cute theme. Them menus are composition notebooks and the napkins are loose leaf paper. The atmosphere is like a modern version of a science lab, complete with the compounds of beer written on a chalkboard above the bar. I ordered the bbq bison burger. It didn’t even look real! It was a very adequate fist-sized, good quality burger. A must try are the tator tots! Everything is baked inside it’s mindblowing.

Saturday night DTLA. I was meeting up my friend and decided to get out of the SGV and head towards DTLA. I met him near his place, parked my car and decided to walk over. He suggested Public School and I’m happy he did. The restaurant/bar is quite spacious and while the bar area was pretty crowded, we decided to sit on the restaurant side. No wait but definitely not empty. We looked over the menu and seeing what others have ordered, we got the Bacon Cheddar Tots, Chorizo Mac and Cheese and the Bangers and Mash as our entrée. Everything split between us. Of course being a Saturday night, we needed libations(love saying libations) I ordered the Mule Kick and my friend ordered a draft beer from the rotating list. The tots and Mac and cheese were absolutely delicious. I liked the Bangers and Mash but my friend enjoyed it a bit more. We did also order the Brown Bag of Fries because who doesn’t love fries! Overall, a great night of food and drinks! I know they have a happy hour so maybe one of these days, I’ll come out and check it out. Note-so heading towards DTLA from SGV will take about 30 minutes with heaviest traffic on the 101. So be prepared. Also, I didn’t park near the restaurant but you’ll pay at least $ 10 or more. It happened to be a LA Kings game so parking was $ 20 in the lot near my friend. He knocked it down to $ 15. Still… not cheap.

Came here with a big group. Got seated right away and the waiter was charmingly nice. He even gave a couple free shots to the birthday boys I was with. The menus and setup is super cute here, it goes well with the«school» theme. They have a full bar(amen) and a nice selection of beers. Food: I had the Prime Flat Iron Steak with Truffle Butter. it came it chorizo mac and cheese with sea salt and vinegar crunch.((ISSUE i had with this dish, WHYISTHERENOSTEAKKNIFE? My friends and I had to use the standard butter knife which were pretty blunt… to cut into the steak. I started to get tired of sawing up the steak that at one point I didn’t want to eat it anymore because it was so annoying to cut.)) The steak itself was a bit tough… it was cooked well but it didn’t have much flavor. I would have rather eaten a steak somewhere else. But the chorizo mac and cheese was amazing. Nice creamy cheese with potato chips sprinkled on top. The thing I liked best about this joint was that they had games everywhere. A giant sized jenga and throwing darts that you can play with your friends while drinking from the bar after you finish your meal. It was a interesting and cute place to visit. I think its a great spot for a first date. Parking is tricky, I had to park a block down for $ 7. But there are lot of bars nearby so its a fun place to walk around and bar hop.

ding ding schools in session bishhhhhh! I love how much time they spent on the small details to make you feel like you are back in grade school. Everything from the composition menus to the line paper napkins, dare I say«cute»?? PASS! The Food was above average. The bison burger was a little gamy for my taste and lacked flavors that you expect to be there. They may of needed something to punch it through, maybe blue cheese? The pizza was a grease pie, but its kind of my preference. YEEEE I love the location and décor of the place. They also have cool games like darts and shuffle board. I definitely wouldn’t ditch school if this was it.

Ok so I had been meaning to come to this place for some time now. They haven’t been open too long and I have heard good things about their other locations. First, the food here is tasty, they have many options and a little bit of everything for everyone’s taste. I chose the BCC Burger which I must say was outstanding, just not as easy to eat as you would think. So if you are a bit concerned about eating here with clients and rather have something«neater» to eat that option may not work. However, they have many other options like salads and other things. So the burger I got was messy, but high on taste and it came with coleslaw that was perfectly matched up with the burger. The staff here was a bit questionable, we had a few incidents happen during our stay. First our waitress was taking longer than usual to come get our orders. Second, one of the things we ordered they completely gave us a different plate, the person that brought the food was adamant that it was what we ordered. After taking a few bites the person I was with was brought his real plate and we realized we were right the whole time. The waitress completely passed on blame on someone else, and the other person on her so seems like someone didn’t want to fess up. Although not too big of a deal it was awkward watching them go back and forth on whos fault it was. I would come back to this place only if I had to. I would definitely give it another chance though being our food was good enough to be back for it. The service may improve next time.

I dined here twice with family while visiting California. I loved the theme and look of the place. It was great that they kept the theme of school from their bar to their menus looking like composition notebooks. The burgers were delicious! All of the ingredients in the burger made every bite so memorable. I ordered the shaved Brussels and kale slaw with my burger and it paired perfectly. I wish they had a restaurant around my area that served a slaw similar to theirs because I loved it that much!

Came on a Saturday evening after having long wait times at other eateries. We had no plans of eating dinner here, but it turned out good! The wait time to be seated was 45 min, but we found seats at the bar while we waited for a table. We ordered: Brown bag fries w/mustard bbq sauce & siracha ketchup — thin cut w/sea salt! Margherita pizza: buffalo mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, & basil — thin slices Roasted beet salad: arugula, ricotta salata, pomegranate molasses, & marcona almonds Mezze plate: baba ghanoush, hummus, marinated feta, crispy chickpeas, & a vegetarian substitute for the tapenade(usually made w/anchovies) Pear cider Coconut porter All of the dishes that we had were all really good! Some dishes have VR next to them which allows them to make a meat dish into a vegetarian one. They have board games, shuffleboard, darts, & jenga which makes for a fun night Parking: it’s dtla, goodluck finding parking on a Saturday night

Very disappointing experience. If you appreciate even basic customer service don’t come here. If you do come here, make sure Rossyo is not your server. She treated us as if we were second class guest. We’ve received better service from minimum wage workers at fast-food restaurants. Her attitude was, «Ugh, I’m so busy, and I bet these people are not going to tip me well.» Have you ever had this type of server? I’m sure a lot of you have. Here I go… We made a reservation for 11 people to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, they sat us at 2 small round tables that sat 7 – 8. When we asked for a bigger table, the server said we would have to wait until another party left. Keep in mind it’s Saturday night and parties usually linger while they drink and talk. She couldn’t guarantee us a solid wait time. Why do they even take reservations? That was poor planning on the restaurant’s team and not necessarily the server’s fault. We ordered drinks and waited for about 30 – 40 min. before being moved to another table. She never brought us table sets. She took our order 10 min. after we moved tables. She should’ve taken our order while we waited at the first table so she could have put in the food request quickly. We waited about another 30 minutes for our food. My friend opted for the Bangers & Mash because the Short Rib mashed potatoes have horseradish. Bangers & Mash didn’t list horseradish as an ingredient. When the plate arrived, it had horseradish. My friend asked Rossyo if there was anything she could do, and she simply replied, «No.» One of us spoke with the manager, Steve, who said, «When the server goes to your table, tell her you can order something else or get it taken off the bill and that she can go talk with Steve.» He did the right thing. He should consider teaching Rossyo customer service skills 101. She needs basic training. When we broke the news to Rossyo, she had attitude. We said, «We spoke with Steve, and we want you to take this off our bill.» She replied with attitude, «Oh, he can remove it himself, not me.» Seriously? By now, we were irritated. We don’t care who takes it off, just take care of it. If we had a decent server, we would’ve considered returning or staying for drinks regardless of the waiting and horseradish in one plate, but Rossyo made this dinner the most unpleasant dining experience in years for our close group of friends.

Celebrating a successful corporate launch, we decided on PS213. It is well-themed in a scholastic style. We each thought the other had made a reservation. Ummmm. We hadn’t. They scrambled and in moments a table was readied. The server was spot on even if there were 11 of us, tired & hungry. Great cocktails. Everything served family-style, served when it’s ready. Loved the Mac n cheese. Everyone devoured the buffalo cauliflower guilt-free. Flat iron steak evaporated upon entry. Everything was what we wanted it to be, and we left no room for dessert, even after the manager came out to greet the mildly raucous group called US. :-) I’d go back. We all would.

Cool concept/idea for the restaurant. Takes you back to school(good and bad memories: P), menus are composition books and napkins look like lined paper. Board games are available to you(which is a great thing to play when you’re waiting for your food). Parking is a pain as expected in DTLA, so your best bet is to park in the structures around the area for a fee. I believe we paid about $ 7. On to the food… Appetizers– We tried several appetizers including the bacon cheddar tots, buffalo cauliflower, and chorizo mac and cheese. Overall, all the appetizers were delicious, but the portions were small for what you paid for and definitely not on the health conscious side. Even the cauliflower is breaded and deep fried(although this was probably my fave out of the 3). Entrees– Tried their burger. It was good and juicy, but honestly there was nothing that special about it other than it being cooked well. No WOW factor that would make me want to brave the LA traffic and bad parking to get here for the food. My friends tried their other entrees(chicken & waffles, steak salad with truffle vinaigrette) and they weren’t blown away as well. Like the theme, but did not care for the food.

Not to be confused with the actual Public School 213(PS213) in Queens, NY, this place actually serves alcohol and the crowd is a little older. ha ha First I gotta say the service here was excellent. Our server was a good dude, spot on with suggestions and he even brought us some extra food the kitchen made by mistake. Beyond that it’s beers and mad decent bar food. The composition book menu’s are a nice touch. our group ordered a frito pie pizza thing, i’m not going to lie, it was pretty good. If you’re in town on business, as i was, this is a great spot for a bite if you’re staying in DTLA.

Came here with a coworker for lunch. The place is pretty trendy and fun — menus look like notebooks, which is cute. We got sat at a long table — felt like school since other people came and shared the table. I was debating between the Grilled Steak salad with Truffle Vinaigrette and the Tuscan Chop Salad which had prosciutto. Both sounded amazing but the waiter said that he liked the Tuscan better and that the Steak with good but heavy with the dressing. So I ordered the Tuscan Chop and my coworker got the fried chicken sandwich with fries. Since it was Friday we both got the white ale. Everything was really good! My salad was nice and light(maybe too light haha). Definitely wanna come back for HH!

I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. This place is AMAZING. I came here for brunch and their Almost Bottomless mimosas(they’ll explain that concept to you when you get there). But I got so much more when I went. The waitress I had, Kathryn, was fuckin incredible. Don’t excuse my language. She had great energy, she was funny, engaging and made sure our glasses were never empty. She’s definitely there every Sunday so go then and ask for her! As far as the food is concerned, absolutely phenomenal. I got the chicken and waffles and omg. Oh! And every Sunday, the chef makes a special french toast! So you definitely wanna go there for that. Went here over the weekend to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. We went with a group of friends and ordered appetizers, dinner and drinks. It was an interesting theme, had composition notebooks for the menu and games to play. It was a small place and our table was a little crowded. Service was also slow. Food tasted good but not very memorable. I ordered the Earl of Juniper drink which tasted pretty good. I had the Shrimp and grits, it was good and big in portion. The grits were not the typical you would expect, it was a block that was fried. My friends liked their dishes, which were chicken salad, bangers and mash, and the burger.

Nice to see a new restaurant occupying the corner of 6th Street and Flower Street. My friend and I decided to give Public School 213 a try because we passed by it numerous times and always wonder how their food was. Made my reservation on OpenTable, but wasn’t needed because restaurant was quiet by 1pm. We were seated on the long bench by the window and was delighted with the sight of their menu. Lots of great items listed and there was a large selection of brewery for those of you that are looking for a liquid lunch. I decided to go healthy on this particular day and opted for the Roasted Beet Salad($ 9). The sweet waitress kindly suggest that I should add some meat to my salad and I decided to add chicken for an additional $ 5. I was served with a beautiful salad consisting roasted beets, grilled chicken, arugula, ricotta salata, pomegranate molasses, marcona almonds. But OMG… for the price I was paying($ 14), that was an awfully small portion! I enjoyed every bite of my salad, but I was starving again within 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant. Restaurant is a little bit on the expensive side. Loved the food, presentation, and service.

It was a Monday morning and my boyfriend and I both had the day off and no plans whatssoever. I had mentioned to him a couple of days before that I was craving a visit to dtla so we decided to get ready and head down there via über. After a couple of visits to a few of our downtown favorites we grew very hungry. I came across Public School 213 on Unilocal a few days prior to our outing and I was intrigued by the theme and décor of the place. I mentioned this to my boyfriend and he too was interested in going. We walked over to Flower St and entered this unique gastropub and were seated promptly. Our waitress was very nice and was able to make several recommendations. We placed an order of bacon cheddar tots while we skimmed through the cute composition book menu. Out tots arrived and they were to die for. They had a great crunch and the bacon cheddar gave them a delicious twist. They were served to us with a side of sriracha ketchup which I loved. The tots alone have so much flavor but the sriracha ketchup gives it that extra sweet and spicy kick. So good! For our entrees I chose the crispy chicken sandwich with a side order of fries and he chose the pepperoni pizza. When we first arrived the place was almost empty but by the time we placed our order there were men in business suites everywhere and a lot of groups coming in all at once so our food took quite some time to be served. The chicken sandwich was delectable. The chicken was juicy and crunchy. The kale slaw was good and the sweet carrot habanero aioli sauce was nothing like I’d ever tasted before. The fries were crunchy and plentiful. I’ll probably be ordering this again if I’m ever near the area during their lunch hour. My boyfriends pizza was sadly not very good. It was bland and the dough wasn’t what he was expecting. I tried a slice and I couldn’t have agreed more with him, it was not at all appetizing. I’d recommend you steer clear from it. Their food in general is very delicious. The pizza wasn’t of our liking but to each their own. My rating isn’t based on their pizza. I decided to throw it in my review but it does not play a factor in the four stars I’ve given to them. The four stars are based on the fact that we were kind of forgotten once it got busy. They could have gotten the full five but we weren’t checked up on again until the very end. I’m glad we were able to check out this place. Hopefully we can visit again soon.

I came here for lunch with a couple friends yesterday. At first glance I liked the interior and hip school theme inside. There are board games, darts, shuffleboard and other games in the bar area. They have cute menu ideas with the notebooks and paged napkins. This review is for their food and service. We did not order any cocktails or drafts to our table, therefore I cannot comment on their beer or drink specials. As far as the service goes, I wasn’t impressed. Water for the table took forever. We received our food before having our drinks. Little things like this need to be noted because in my opinion, that’s what keeps an establishment from being 4 or 5 star. It’s not just about the food. Having to ask the food runner for siracha because our waiter forgot 10 minutes ago, is disappointing. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at the time we were there. Our waiter was very kind, just very forgetful. I’ll get right into what we ordered to the table: crispy buffalo cauliflower, bacon cheddar tots, roasted poblano with quinoa, fried jidori chicken and green chili cornbread waffles, and cheese pizza. crispy buffalo cauliflower: these were okay. they could have been cooked longer for a higher internal temperature. they were served warm and packed a strong buffalo flavor. i would have liked the inside of the buffalo popper to be not as gritty and more smooth and melty. bacon cheddar tots: these were okay too. a little too salty. served with ketchup that i don’t even think you need. roasted poblano with quinoa: i wanted more of the poblano and didn’t get the large amount of lime rice served on the side. this dish was served warm like it was sitting there waiting to be served a little too long. in the dish’s defense, it’s hard to make quinoa impressive but i actually liked the poblano stuffed with quinoa. the problem was that i wanted to get full off the main pepper instead of a huge side of rice. the rice was a big portion almost to make up for what was lacking in the poblano. fried jidori chicken and waffles: small portion compared to other fried chicken and waffles from places like Yardbird let’s say. the bacon red-eye gravy was again, served room temperature in a ramekin. i didn’t like the texture of the waffle. it lacked light crisp edges. it was more spongy. the chicken was very tender. i would have liked maple syrup on the side in addition to the gravy. I would try this place again. I believe in second chances. It wasn’t terrible. I just didn’t find it great and it has potential to be really great.

Public School is a great gastropub with a fantastic Happy Hour menu. They did a renovation a couple months ago and expanded their restaurant space, changed their menu, and updated their look. I wasn’t a huge fan of the«recess» or «school» theme, but they revamped the space and it’s a lot better executed now. The remodel looks great and the new menu items are just as good. I also came here for brunch a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. They have an «Almost Bottomless Mimosa/Bloody Marys/Micheladas» which gives you a limited amount of carafes. I found that to be really annoying, but it was fiiiiiiine — no one needs to get that f*cked up in the mornings… ORDOTHEY?!! They make their bloody marys with a touch of vodka and all mary mix — super thick and spicy. I loved the first glass, but it was too filling to drink any more without feeling the reward of intoxication. + Stuffed French Toast — Fucking amazing. It was a waffle prepared like french toast with cinnamon brown sugar, maple syrup, and a strawberry reduction. It tasted like a churro and a funnel cake at the same time. I felt like I was in Disneyland. Just amazing. I wish it came with some whipped cream though. But that’s just me being fat AF. + Bison BBQ Burger — perfect brioche bun. perfectly cooked. Juicy tender goodness. no ketchup or sauce needed. + Seared Ahi Sandwich — This was a complete miss for me. The pretzel bun that it came on doesn’t compliment the sandwich. The pretzel bun is too thick and chewy, and the thin delicate slices of tuna just gets overpowered and lost in all that bread. Every bite I took just tasted like pretzel. i had to eventually dissect the sandwich and remove all the contents to eat like a salad. Great fresh ingredients(butter lettuce, onion, perfect ahi) but horrible choice of bread. It looked nice though! + Kale Slaw — Killer, killer slaw bruh. + Beet Salad — Fresh arugula, golden beets, pomegranate seeds, walnuts, and ricotta cheese on the side. Great salad — hints of creaminess from the cheese, sweetness from the pomegranate, peppery from the arugula, crunch from the walnuts, and earthiness from the beets. All tied together with a light dressing. I’m a huge fan of their burgers — tender, juicy, and flavorful. I would definitely recommend down the burger route if you come. BBQ Bison Burger. Just do it. You’re welcome. Their tap list expanded as well which is a HUGEPLUS for craft beer drinkers.

Back at school again but with less restrictions. I found this place on Unilocal and while passing by this place while running my half-marathon in LA(I guess I wasn’t concentrating on getting the race done…) Parking in DTLA is hella annoying. Street parking is pretty much non-existent unless you are lucky and can miraculously find a spot. There is supposedly valet but we didn’t see anyone at the valet stand so we ended up parking in the garage across Flower. It was $ 7 but they close at 11pm so just make sure you will be done with din din by then. Reservations made for 8pm. Reservations not needed because it wasn’t even crowded. Walked in and no hostess greeting us and we didn’t know what to do. Got seated and looked over the menu(mine with a huge coffee stain). I love the concept. The menu was a composition book, the napkins were lined paper, there were board games for break time. Looking over Unilocal and the menu, decided on a couple of starters and my entrée. Bacon Cheddar Tots were first to come out. I was pleasantly surprised because I’m not a huge tator tot fan. The potato was moist but crisp on the outside. The ketchup was a good touch but not necessary because the tators themselves were pretty flavorful. Buffalo Cauliflower: Breaded and deep fried with cheese stuffed inside. Less healthy that I had hoped because of the additional cheese inside. There was a hint of buffalo flavor in the cauliflower themselves so not need to dip but you can choose from buffalo sauce or bleu cheese sauce if you need more flavor. Chorizo Mac and Cheese: Donde esta the chorizo? I think it was like 1⁄50th of the dish. The mac and cheese itself was good but if you put chorizo in the name, I expect to taste it(which I didn’t). I also expect to see it(which I barely saw a handful of chopped up pieces…) Nonetheless, the mac and cheese was good, not too salty, good creaminess but maybe change the name… Steak Salad with Truffle Vinaigrette: Arugula? Truffle? Steak? I’m sold. All of my favorite things in one dish. It was too good to be true through. The argulua looked a bit wilted. Maybe a bit old or maybe wilted from the steak. The steak was cooked OK. Medium so pink in the center but pretty salty. White Truffle Vinaigrette… Didn’t taste truffle. Just felt pretty oily with the proportion of vinegar to oil. Dish was decent but I expected more. My friends ordered the three burgers on the menu and the chicken and waffles. I think of the three burgers, the bison seemed the best because it was leaner than the others. The other too ended up being too fatty. The chicken and waffles were decent. Chicken was breaded nicely and fried well. The waffle was a bit unique and not your plain waffle. If you like plain waffles, this isn’t the waffle for you. The concept was great. The vibe is chill. They also have some board games(Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Battleship) that you can borrow to play with. Service was decent. Relatively attentive but I would prefer them to be a bit more helpful. OK experience but unless I’m back for happy hour, I might not come back. Sorry. 13 years of public school might be enough for me.

Damn it! This place is not the same as public school 310. I love the kale and salmon salad but it’s not the same here. The tater tots are different too. Menu looks similar enough but execution a little different. Just dropped almost $ 30 dinner for 1 and still craving public school 310. Grrrrr. Don’t get me wrong this place is still good but when you expect 310 food or good food to fulfill that craving nothing else will do! The salad was filled with cheese and the salmon was not a good quality piece. The tots was super salty. So disappointed :(

Ambience is great for happy hour. Come here to get your downtown grubbing on I personally prefer the culver city location in terms of food taste and service It took about 25 – 30 minutes to get our food We sat on the shared tables had some interesting people sitting next to us. Made for great dinner conversation. I liked our server I think they may have been short staffed on the day we went so probably not the best day. It was dark indoors, and i like light… natural light. I will go back just to compare and see what I really think about it

I really wanted to love this place. When I first stepped in to the restaurant, I was excited about the décor. They put a lot of thought into the decorations(game boards on the wall displays, coasters were designed like binder paper, composition books, clipboards, etc). Sadly, the food was just OKAY. It feels like they tried TOO hard with the flavor profile that it wasn’t balanced well. — THEBISONBURGER: grass fed, whiskey bbq sauce, emmental, pepper bacon mushroom topping. It felt pretty average to me. There wasn’t anything special about the burger. However, I will admit that the bison meat itself was juicy, well-cooked and worth the try. — FRIEDJIDORICHICKENANDGREENCHILICORNBREADWAFFLES: I thought the flavors were all trying to compete with one another and it was less of a harmonious blend. However, the flavor was definitely interesting – something I haven’t had before. The BEERS were delicious though. I’d definitely come back for the drinks.

Let’s go back to school! Even tho Public School doesn’t resemble a public school cafeteria in any way, they really commit to their theme; menus styled as composition notebooks, napkins styled as college-ruled line paper, and most importantly, they have jungle juice! A college party staple. Need a break? They got you covered! They also have fun games to play such as a giant connect four, giant jenga, darts, and there is beer pong available on the other side of the restaurant. The drinks were good but the food failed to impress. My friend ordered the jungle juice and I ordered the crushed velvet for myself. The jungle juice was really good but suuper strong, so much so that we ended up using my drink as a chaser. We shared the ahi taco and while it was super cute(it was served with a taco holder!) and delicious, it was also super tiny and didn’t satisfy my appetite. The other stuff on the menu look pretty appetizing so maybe I’ll come back for more.

I was unimpressed. It was mobbed with finance bros for Happy Hour and the fries were bad, bad, bad. They served truffle fries with some sweet, lemony mayo sauce that tasted just awful. The fries themselves were mushy and sad. I put a lot of stake in how a restaurant pulls off fries because, c’mon man, it’s fried potato, it’s sort of hard to screw that up. The beer selection was nice, but I don’t have the patience for sub par food and I don’t share this obsession with boring ass gastropubs that all look the same and are way too loud to have a conversation in that everyone seems to have nowadays. I came here for lunch, too and it was slightly better, on account of it being less loud, but really not impressive. When you order Diet Coke they bring you a ridiculous little 8oz baby bottle and what seems like a whiskey glass of ice. I guess you just come to assume that full service restaurants with bars have soda on tap or would warn you that they are going to bring you one of those obnoxious mini bottles. The food is greasy and not exciting or interesting to me at all. There are a bunch of places like this, and the cutesy elementary school theme doesn’t really do enough to make it stand out.

First time trying this place. Came here to have dinner with two of my friends! I heard it was closed down for renovation? Not sure how the previous interior looked like but it looked pretty nice to me. Thought it was a clever idea for their menu + napkins to look like notebook papers. Cute! Right when you walk in, the left side of the place is has a restaurant vibe and the left side has this sport-bar vibe. They have darts and large jenga in the far back! PARKING: always an issue in downtown. closest lot is the one near Standard hotel. $ 10? $ 15? DRINKS: Trestle IPA by left coast brewing from San Clemente CA $ 7 it’s light bodied clean crisp IPA with notes of grass and citrus FOOD: The huntsman burger $ 15 Ground chuck balsamic Indian lettuce to anti and cheese.good. Reminds me of father office burger. Ordered the fries on the side! Very flavorful! Give it 5⁄5 stars Ahi tuna taco $ 10 Comes with avocado salsa ponzu lemon aioli and crispy wonton shells. A bit disappointing. All the flavors in the bite wasn’t pleasant for me. Can’t distinguish what it was but the tastes of the ingredients wasn’t tasteful together. I personally wouldn’t order this again.(2⁄5 stars) Cutting Board $ 15 Chefs choice of cured meat and artisan cheeses. Came with two different hams. Caramelized onions. Jam. Three different types of cheese. Mustard. I enjoyed this. It would be nice if they offer different options to choose from(4.5/5stars) Chorizo Mac and cheese $ 10 Cheesed kale and Vinegar potato chips on top. gave it a nice crunch! A Italian spice aftertaste. Pretty good.(4⁄5) Bacon Cheddar tots $ 7 Nice outer crunch with a soft inside bite. decent size too(4⁄5) Would come back here with friends to enjoy beers, games and their burger!
