Definitely my favorite LA food truck by a really wide margin. The Gumbalaya and the chicken & sausage gumbo are both out of control. The wife loves the po boy as well and has spoke highly of the bisque. To top it off, there are lots of great hot sauces to put on your soup or sandwich, FOLLOWDARULES!

They gave us a sample of the sausage and corn bisque. It’s amazing, it’s a must try. This is why I’m giving them 5 stars. They actually give you samples.

First time eating Ragin Cajun on wheels. Had the chicken and sausage gumbalaya and it was delicious, especially with the spicy garlic sauce! Awesome service, free samples and the owner came out to check how we enjoyed the meal! Definitely will be back!

Wow their bisque is to die for! I have it atleast once per week when they come to Burbank. I love Cajun food and this truck outdoes anything I’ve tried in Louisiana. Plus Stephen, the owner, is so awesome. Definitely recommend!

Mini Cajun combo: Half Shrimp Po Boy & Chicken and Sausage Corn Bisque. Open the Po Boy, put Spicy Garlic sauce, then dump cocktail sauce into Po Boy… that is all you need to know about this place. The owner of the Ragin Cajun is a very kind and great man. He is always working hard to get people to give his cajun food a try. Most of the time people get hooked and order the Chicken and Sausage Corn Bisque(you cannot go wrong with this). There are many sauces to choose from, the spicy garlic is my favorite, but I am sure all the other ones are just as good. The mini combo is only $ 7 + add an Atiba(Louisiana Cane Sugar) Rootbeer for $ 2 more and you are golden.

service//***** super friendly~ as we approached the truck we were called over for samples! after you order there are explicit instructions to pack up the various sauces… spicy garlic. raspberry chipotle. cajun aioli food//***** *note* only the actual restaurant serves crawfish the combo plate is the perfect intro… i chose the one w/catfish po’boy & cup of chicken sausage gumbo their gumbo had heat without being obnoxiously spicy… like the kind that make your eyes well up relentlessly catfish po’ boy was interesting too… i’m glad i took that advice and got multiple sauces to pair with the sandwich… each sauce gave it a different personality ~*~ i usually don’t like food trucks, but this one is something special… makes me want to go the store… cuz they have crawfish AND alligator =9 ps. and if you don’t believe me… my teammate Brett D. gave them a thumbs up… and he is from LA as in The Big Easy… he would know

I chose a ½ & ½ po’ boy and by far preferred the shrimp! I also tried each side with a combination of the cocktail sauce that comes with the sandwich and the spicy garlic sauce and hot sauce. I ended up eating the shrimp out of that side of the sandwich dipped in the cocktail sauce and spicy garlic sauce. The bread was REALLY good, I liked it a lot, I just didn’t like the lettuce and tomato with the shrimp. Now I know right? I also had the chicken, sausage, corn bisque. Some of the bread from the sandwich was torn off to dip in the bisque and that was delicious! I also tried dipping a hush puppy in the bisque, good but not as good as the bread. I didn’t enjoy the hush puppies on their own but I thought they improved a lot dipped in the bisque. Be warned the spice in the bisque keeps building and is very tasty! Next time I’d probably get a cup of the bisque and an order of shrimp. I washed it all down with the satsuma(orange) swamp pop which was one of the better orange pops I’ve had in a while! The owner and staff are all very nice. Everything is made to order so be patient people!

My taste buds were craving for some kinda po’ boy, and luckily for me, Ragin Cajun On Wheels was just around the corner! I ordered the«Mini» Cajun Combo — any half po’ boy with choice of cup. I decided on the shrimp po’boy and the gumbolaya. There are five different side sauces you can try your meal with. I decided to check out their garlic and their raspberry chipotle sauce. I didn’t expect much — after all, my meal was only $ 7. Took a bite of my sandwich and BOY, was I impressed!!! It was even better with the cocktail sauce it came with! I also tried a few bites with the garlic and raspberry chipotle sauce and made a difference as well! The gumbolaya was full of flavor as well. The entire meal didn’t look like much, but it was well above worth it for $ 7! Will definitely try them out again!!!

These guys were at Glendon & Wilshire in Westwood today and I gave ‘em a try. In a word: superdeliciousnessosity. Well, it’s a word now. I went all big spender(lol) and had the $ 14 combo, which included a large portion of their chicken-sausage bisque over jambalaya rice, 6 or 7 breaded fried shrimp on the side with a lemon wedge, and half a slightly-toasted French roll. The order was ready within about 5 – 6 minutes. The bisque was really flavorful… not too salty, not too spicy, but there was some residual heat I’m still dabbing off my brow. Plenty of meaty meat between the chicken and the sausage. The shrimp were properly cooked and not rubbery or too greasy — definitely a win. The French roll definitely added to the overall beige-ness of things, but was useful in getting all the tasty sauces mopped up, and hey, I’ll have some veggies tonight as penance. The only reasons I withheld one star are twofold and kinda minor: I would have liked the bisque to be a little hotter — temperature-wise. It wasn’t cold or tepid, but it wasn’t truly ‘hot’ as served to me. And the French roll would benefit from being toasted a little longer. Will definitely seek these guys out if they come back thisaway.

Rajun Cajun is what’s good. Oh man. I haven’t had cajun food this good since the summer I spent in NOLA. Seriously, seriously awesome. And get the bisque to go with whatever you’re eating. And drown everything in their hot sauce. I will definitely be back.

Nothing says New Orleans like Britney Spears, Mardi Gras, «Who dat?» and Cajun cooking… except maybe the owner of Ragin Cajun… who is a loud and charismatic gentlemen, who knows the recipe for awesome Cajun food. At the Food Truck stop at Irvine Lanes on Tuesday(Guy says he’s there every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the Month) comes some laid back tunes playing over the speakers outside his truck. Samples of his bisque are given out after he entices you with a «come try this sample!» and boy, hook line and sinker. Fried catfish and shrimp, po’ boys, Gumbolaya(gumbo and jumbolaya put together) Dirty rice and Beans. you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, so whatever sounds good, eat it. And what’s fried food without some hot sauce? He has the different hot sauces with the raspberry chipotle, chipotle, garlic, and spicy Cajun. ALL of it is great. That vinegar hits, with a touch of lemon, and his(and this is the first time I’ve done/seen this) putting tartar sauce in my cocktail sauce… OMG. I think i’ll be doing this more often!‘ I did recognize him from the Food Network Great Food Truck race… but I didnt’ follow the whole season. He said he was robbed, and I believe him… because in this parking lot, I don’t see how anyone could have competed with him! He also had something called Swamp Soda… No HFCS, all Pure Cane sugar sodas… Love them. The ginger ale is what I got, and I could have drank 3 more bottles… Will have to try the other flavors next time. PS: Gotta try his B&M off the PCH Next time!

It seemed that the guy outside was offering everybody a sample of corn bisque, except me. Even though I laced an order. It was then I decided, that if offered, I didn’t want a sample. I mean I was standing right next to him as he was offering samples to everyone else. I ordered a $ 10 shrimp Po’ Boy. I give one less start, because the sandwich wasn’t completely cut in half. I had to tear it, and in the process lost one valuable live if shrimp. The right half of the sandwich was good, but the left only had three pieces of shrimp. It should have been more evenly distributed between the two halves. The roll was fresh, light and delicately crispy. The add on sauces were flavorful, and the red rue sauce was good seeing a nice zingyness. I would try it again and hope that the guy outside the would be nicer to me. And shouldn’t food prepared from a truck be made so it’s easy to eat? Not have too tear apart a sandwich with knee hand… a sandwich that was supposed to be cut.

Friendly guy working the truck. Offered up some tasty chicken corn bisque before I could say hello! I got a cup of the chicken bisque and the red beans, rice and sausage. Also a cream soda. The chicken bisque is very delicious. Full of creamy goodness. Loaded with chicken and corn. It has some rice too. I was definitely pleased with it. The red beans and sausage was good. I liked the chicken bisque over it. Maybe ill try to gumbo-laya rather than the beans n rice. The soda was good. It’s a brand called Swamp Pop. Good way to end that meal. Oh yeah I forgot they have an assortment of hot sauces to apply to your meal. You should definitely try them. They range from garlic, raspberry to their own branded hot sauce. I had the branded hot sauce which was tasty and the spicy garlic. Both werent that spicy.

This review is from a girl with Cajun blood running through her veins… I had a chance to try 3 of their dishes. The chicken & sausage corn bisque was pretty good and something that I had never had before. But, it was a too spicy for my tastes. The shrimp po-boy was okay. The shrimp were crispy and the batter was flavorful, but the bread could have been better. Po-boys should have toasted french bread that’s flaky on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. I was excited to try the gumbolaya, something else I had never seen before. But, it was EXTREMELY salty. I hope that was just that batch and not how they normally make it. I’d be interested in stopping by their restaurant and getting a feel for something else on the menu, especially during crawfish season.

Cal State LA now has food trucks and that is awesome. I usually bring my lunch, but was in such a rush this morning to leave, I decided I’d just get some grub at the boring cafeteria. As I was making my way to decide between El Pollo Loco or Sbarro, I saw this truck. Rajin Cajun. Hmm. Well, I’ve been to NOLA and I’m all about po’boys, so I wanted to see what this truck was working with. Checked out the menu, boom, shrimp po boys. Perfect. Half a po’ boy for $ 5, full for $ 10. As I was waiting in line, the owner of the truck kept going around and handing out this corn bisque sample. I really had no desire to try it, but he was so adamant about it, I did. Hot damn. That thing was soooo yummy! I almost NEVER eat pork, so for me to have eaten this and really dug it was huge. So tasty and had some serious kick. I needed more, so my order of a half of po’boy just became a mini combo with a cop of this amazing corn bisque on the side. Food came out pretty quickly. The po’ boy was good, but not great. Again, been to New Orleans and I know what po’ boys are about. Would I order it again? Yes, def. While it’s not the best po’ boy I’ve had, they have the basics down and with the sauce options they have, it can taste pretty good. The bisque was an amazing accompaniment and my mouth is still tasting the flavor. I would definitely order from this truck again. I peeped their hush puppies on the menu and really wanted to give them a try too, so I’ll have to go back for sure. Really excited that CSULA now has trucks on campus. Maybe I’ll have to forget my lunch more often.

I’m not RAGIN for the CAJUN Let me start by saying that my fam both sides are from NOLA so it sort of goes without saying that if you are from there or are of first generation that is from there but born or raised else where you SHOULD know the heck you’re doing in the kitchen! It’s sort of a birth right thing! I typically DONOT go to «So Called» soul food places because they SUCK! Plus it is rather irritating that people call it «SOULFOOD». Its food for peet-sake with H*LLA seasoning you can’t get anywhere else. The English like there franks, the Irish like there fish and chips, Californians like there bunny food and we Southerners like our seasoning and seafood! So when I saw this food truck I’m NOT impressed and I was just going to walk on by. Why be disappointed YETAGAIN by someone PROCLAIMING from the mountain tops that that can cook Southern style food mainly form Louisiana because the truck is named RAGINCAJUN! I was stopped by this guy outside the truck handing out samples of chicken, sausage and corn bisque. So I decided to give it the olé college try but I wasn’t going to hold my breath. It was good a bit on the spicy side for me but I think it could have used more actual flavor instead of HEAT! Surprisingly enough it wasn’t too bad but I have had better! You generally eat that over rice and then my parents would put a meat and a veggie with that for a balanced meal. The samples intrigued the mom-n-ator and she dove in with her 20⁄20 question of what do they use in this and that! I hope ya’ll studied up cuz she knows her stuff! The sample guy really didn’t seem to know anything but offered her a sample of the red beans and rice! They were just ok but nothing to shake a stick at! The beans could have been cooked a bit more because beans should be a soft but not mushy! A fine line. The rice was a bit on the crunch side and I for one HATE crunchy rice! But the mom-n-ator being kinder then I decided to order the shrimp po-boy and some red beans and rice! I didn’t say anything because the fact that she is eating is WONDERFUL! The po-boy was $ 10 alone and the red beans and rice were $ 4 for the cup alone. Together it should have cost $ 12 since that was The Cajun combo deal they had, which is any po-boy with any cup. So why the heck was I charged $ 10 for the po-boy and $ 4 for the cup of red beans and rice! Ok NOW we have a problem. Minus 2 stars for over charging me! SO they make the order to go and we are on our way… only to get home and see NOPO-BOY! There was a box of shrimp but NOLETTUCE, NOTOMATOES, NOMAYO and NOFRICKINBREAD! Any just about ANYCOUNTRY on EARTH a SANDWICH has BREAD! It’s one of the main ingredients to makein a SANDWICH! Not really sure how could you get that WRONG! Minus another star. The mom-n-ator thought the food was ok but like I said she has had better! Probably a GOOD idea to use Blue Runner beans and NOT fresh if you’re NOT going to cook them fully, which by the way the cook had NOIDEA what BLUERUNNER beans were! How could you be from the GREATSTATE of LOUISIANA and NOT know about Blue runners. This way you can get the GREAT taste without all the hard work and hours of cooking the beans! Can’t say I will be back to this truck! I don’t think I will EVA be that desperate since I was raised by Paula Deen and Emeril Lagasse.
