I’m not a picky person for food but MSG. While I’m having a dinner with my friends, my lips reacted for the soup which is itching & swelling. Didn’t even finish it. It is from HEAVYMSG. I’m usually ok with Chinese food. That means they really use a LOT… The place was clean & modern designed. and server was good too. But HEAVYMSG… disappointed…

This place would get a solid 4 if it weren’t for their lack of service. I came in on a Sunday morning needing my soup fix after a heavy night of drinking. Instead, I left feeling even worse because of the attitude and lack of attention our server gave us. FOOD: I got their signature yukgaejang which was spicy, flavorful, and quite large. It came with a bowl of rice and several side dishes to munch on. I literally dropped my bowl of rice into the soup to soap up all the yumminess. The shredded beef was tender and the noodles made the soup in my opinion. You can definitely taste the quality of the beef in the soup. I got a spicy and this soup was freaking spicy! For a soup, this dish will leave you full and satisfied. I had plenty to take home to enjoy for later too. SERVICE: Okay, let’s talk about how awful their service was. From the second we walked in, we felt so unwelcomed. Our server didn’t smile at all and was so rude. We had to call her over every time we needed something else. When I walked to the bathroom I noticed that she was on her cell phone watching videos… «So that’s where she went…» was what I was thinking. On top of all that, we asked for a pitcher of water to be left on the table because she constantly went missing and we were getting tired of calling for her. She just grabbed the pitcher of water and dropped it onto our table. She didn’t even pour any of the water into our cups. My mom told me that the service wasn’t like this the last time she came here. But this server needs an attitude check. She was completely useless at her job. I would have definitely liked this place way more if it weren’t for that one server. Ugh.

Mandoo(dumplings) are super duper bomb diggity. I love the mandoo here for some wierd reason. Kim Bap was cold. Whatever. Dokboogi was nice!!! the gochu jang was nice and thick, not too sweet with good spice. The gochu jang is awesome over bap or the kim bap!!! and even dipped into by the mandoo. Highly recommend this place for finger food deliciousness.

This place will be my go-to place for yookgaejang from now on! Very clean-tasting without msg taking over the flavor, and perfect portion. It reminded me of the yookgaejang I used to eat at home as a kid. Will definitely be coming back! Give it a try if you haven’t.

This restaurant is nice clean environment. This kind of soup is my comfort food what I have been eating and cooking all my life, so I am very picky about Korean food when I eat out. But this red hot soup Yookgejang is so good also I can see how they cooked. There are no greases oil in meat and soup. That means when they cook, takes all fatty part off. The serving people are nice and kind. Yes, I will come back whenever I visit Los Angeles

Traditional Korean foods. Modern interior design. Taste is delicious. My favorite spicy seafood is very good. Korea town restaurant parking problem. Same here. Valet parking no choice. Best #1 korean restaurant highly recommend.

The restaurant is decent, but I wouldn’t suggest to come here for a second time. Redsoup has very clean and crisp flavors, but the food comes off as bland and not refreshing. There are salt and pepper shakers on every table, so don’t fret too much about the blandness. The first thing I noticed when I received my food is that the portions are smaller than the average yukgaejang. Sadly, smaller portions do not equal cheaper prices. As for the interior, I would say it falls under«modern» and«minimal.» White walls with abstract red decoration here and there. Nothing like the average Korean restaurants, but nothing special either. *This review is based off my experience from last July.

Had the royal yukgaejang combo which comes with yukgaejang that has beef, intestines and tripe with choice of bossam or sundae(soondae). Ordered the sundae and a separate small bossam to share. It was enough food for two girls. The food was just ok though. The yukgaejang could have been hotter and the flavor just wasn’t there for me. The bossam was nothing special either. The cuts of pork could have been juicier and thicker. The small was $ 19.50 and the royal combo was around $ 15.

I had been wanting to try this for awhile now as I am a huge fan of yookgaejang. I always try to go to a new restaurant with an open mind. But I wasn’t too impressed with this place. The restaurant itself was very clean and modern. I couldn’t complain about the service either. But the food… their menu is very limited to yookgaejang and a few other dishes… I assume to further state the fact that their specialty is yookgaejang. Which is also stated by their name… but this had to be just the most basic yookgaejang I have ever tried. The soup wasn’t thick and favorful. It just didn’t have that authentic taste. I actually can say I like the yookgaejang at Hodori better! I left feeling very disappointed… again, I had a decent meal but not up to the level where it should be for a place that is solely specializing in yookgaejang.

This place has some amazing but their has a bit too much base than what I prefer. It makes the soup a bit more watery than the usual thick. They have and combos that come with the and I highly recommend the. It’s not that spicy for my taste, but then again I do eat really spicy things. So yeah, overall, great food, great service, and if you check in, you get a free soda :)

Redsoup is a new joint in Koreatown that serves yukkaejang. Sounds weird, but it’s pretty much just a spicy soup that has shredded beef, some noodles, and lots of vegetables in it. As far as the location goes, it’s VERY clean, and even has a TV, so it’s a nice place to be if you’re looking for hot food on a cold day. The menu consists of a couple different kinds of yukkaejang, some noodles, and soondae. The menu is barely two pages long, because their know only for their yukkaejang. But it speaks for itself. You mix it with the rice, and it’s really good and surprisingly filling. I had my doubts going in, but I enjoyed the meal very much. The workers are super nice, and are very accommodating. No extra charge for extra rice, and I think you get a free soda if you check in for the first time. Not too shabby. Valet starts at around 11:30 — 11:45. I repeat, this place literally has nothing else besides yukkaejang. Not literally, but barely anything else. Definitely good though. Will be back if I’m ever in the mood for some more.

I’m honestly not a picky person when it comes to eating… but I didn’t think this place was the greatest for what it was named after(Red Soup, or yookgaejang). Traditionally, the red soup is supposed to have a thicker and stronger(in taste!) broth, and it just did not deliver to that expectation. The food in general is not bad – clean tasting food & side dishes. It was a bit bland(needed some salt), but I guess it’s better than the food being too salty. I wouldn’t choose to come here again myself unless I’m with others who take me here.

Pleasantly surprised! We came here because my parents heard a radio ad for buy 2 get 1 free. Sure, why not? We ended up buying two more on our way out. I think we liked the yukgaejang, maybe? The yukgaejang: probably the best I’ve ever had. You can taste the(quality of the) beef in the soup. It wasn’t too salty like other soup places, nor was it too spicy. It was just right and very much to my(picky) family’s liking. They don’t have an extensive menu, but it’s really not needed. The yukgaejang holds its own. They gave us a sample of the bossam and Korean sausage(the only other two things on their menu), but I’ll be honest, stick to the soup; it’s so so much better. For our two take out bowls, they also packed some of the banchan and rice. It was a very good deal for to-go! Each of the side dishes were very good including both types of kimchi: not too fermented, not too raw. The waitress was super sweet(despite my parents being a little difficult as they are). I would definitely return! Just be warned it’s a $ 2 valet lot so carpool!

Service was great: the male waiter did a great job. The restaurant is new and looks very clean and has a big screen TV with sports on it. Like how other reviewers have been commenting, my food was undercooked: my bossam. There were bits that were pink. And pork being pink? Otherwise, the bossam was good. The yookgaejang was refreshing, but I didn’t like the fact that they had intestines in it. Not the norm for yookgaejangs. Banchan was great though.

Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Atmosphere — 5 stars Price — 4 stars I have been looking forward to trying this new restaurant, and they did not let me down. Yukgaejang was very rich in flavor with a clean after taste. All their banchan was delicious. I did not enjoy their soondae however. Not digging the mushy inside. Service was excellent. The young male employee was very kind in explaining the items on the menu, and the female employee was also super friendly. I am certain this restaurant will do well, and highly recommend others to give this place a try. Maybe they’re short-staffed because they had just opened but the grandma with pink hair(very scary) in the kitchen came out several times to yell at the two young employees, and that was sort of uncomfortable(and unprofessional display in front of customers). They were just doing their job on the floor tending customers(providing excellent service), yet she scolded them and asked why they weren’t in the kitchen helping out. I hope that grandma takes a chill pill or smokes some good weed because she should praise, not scold, them for doing such a good job. I deducted a star because of that pink haired grandma. Made me hesitant about returning in case I ever have to witness that again.

On Thursday four of my co-workers and I went to Red Soup on the recommendation of a friend. Only one of our group was Korean but all of us loved it! The portion of soup we were served was huge. Us girls couldn’t finish it all. The little appetizers(I don’t know what they’re called) served before the soup were delicious! I had the soup with beef brisket and some of the guys ordered the combo soup with Pork Belly and sausage, so we all got to taste it. The steamed pork belly was tender and very tasty. The sausage was also very good. I wish I’d taken a picture… :( The service was excellent and they were very friendly. Love the casual, bright and modern décor. We also received a cute Red Soup recyclable bag! We will definitely be back!
