I love this park. I come here regularly to unwind from work. If you like to sit in the grass, play with your 4 legged kid, stair at the stars or just get away from things real quick this is a great place to do so. I’m a big fan of Ritchie Valens music so when I went for a walk from my glass shop and found this little gem I was pleased to say the least! There’s a great wall of remembrance for him here. If you’re a fan or not you should check this park out.

I really enjoy coming to this park. Especially since the city recently remodeled the playground. My daughters love to spray themselves with the water mist after running around a few times in the hot sun. They also have a few basketball courts here, a skateboarding section, huge soccer fields, tennis courts and a trail to jog/run on. Its close to the 5 and 118 fwys and convenience stores. I’d rate it a 5 star but the lighting at night could be better in my opinion.

Outside of the sandstorms that pick up when its windy, this is nice park to spend a few hours. I live in the area and got to admit it looks worse than it actually is. There are a lot of families that walk around the park together. Soccer teams that practice and they recently built a New playground which my kids love. There normally is a couple of ladies selling Corn cobs, hot dogs and snacks for 2 to 3 dollars. It gets pretty crowded so keep an eye on your kids, but overall its a safe community park where people respect each other. You’ll always start whistling la bamba because the park is named after its writer and singer. It would get 4 or 5 stars if they patrolled the parking lots more often for protection and if it was better lit up at night to enhance security for late night joggers and families walking.

The Ritchie Valens Park was supposed to be in honor of the late great singer Ritchie Valens but this park has gone downhill. The city of L.A. park and recreation has not properly maintained or added new features to the park. Check out my photos! There is a basic skate park, open dirt field perfect for soccer or football, basketball court, childrens playground, community center bldg. The other side of Ritchie Valens park is temporarily closed so baseball fields, pool, basketball courts are not available for public use.
