I called on behalf of a non-profit to inquire about renting the basketball court for a few hours 2 days from now. I had spoken with 4 other parks this morning and they all were will to work with me but the spaces were already occupied. I know it is short noticed but a very rude man answered the phone and sounded like he was laughing at me. The man at Robertson Rec Center said that it was impossible to do anything on such short notice, it takes weeks and several signatures to get something to happen.

Mom’s perspective here: I came here with my husband and 18 month old on a Sunday afternoon for the playground. There was trash scattered throughout the sand and I would not let my kid take off his shoes to play in the sand because I felt it may not be safe. There were two men sleeping on benches in very close proximity to the playground. When one of them woke up and stared at us, my husband requested we leave. The play yard was small and the basketball courts were full of grown men playing games. I was the only woman there. I would not feel comfortable here alone with my child. Needless to say, I will not be back.

Nestled on a nice stretch just off Robertson, it’s cute. Really, I have not checked out the facility extensively, so there’s not too much to say as yet. As a venue to conduct a meeting, it is OK. The LOUD basketball game adjacent to our room was at times distracting. There’s a playground area, too. And the area is relatively calm and quiet.

Great recreation center! I’m surprised it hasn’t been added here until now. It’s not a large place. There’s two full basketball courts outside, one hardwood floored court inside, a kids playing area with sand and things to climb on, a handball court, a few pieces of exercise equipment(pull up bar, swinging rings, horizontal bar), and some picnic tables in a grassy area. It’s a police check in station, so it’s relatively safe-ish. I come here to shoot hoops and only see shady things going on once in awhile, like people smoking joints or sleeping in the bushes. There’s more information on the website link. At a glance, the center offers after school programs, piano and ballet classes, and youth basketball clinics. Per the website: Public Information: Building reservations are available and reservations can be made up to three months in advance but at least 14 days prior to the event. Facility Features: Basketball courts(lighted/outdoor), childrens play area, community room, handball courts(unlighted), indoor gym(without weights), picnic tables.
