And I’m back again!!! Would’ve came earlier but time just didn’t allow it. But I’m here and I’m looking forward to another great cut by Anna. I’m excited!

Originally I came in with a deep dark brown/​black triangle head shaped (from curly hair and no layers) hair cut. I’m looking to go blonde but wanted a salon that used Olaplex so my hair wouldn’t be so damaged. I found rock paper on Unilocal and it had great reviews and funky pictures of really great hair so I thought why not? I called, expecting to have to wait a while for an appointment and by my surprise I was able to get in the same day, about three hours later. Crystal is super pregnant and she still stayed past the time she was supposed to, just to do my hair AND I was a first time customer! We talked about what I wanted for my hair and she hit the nail right on the head with it. I am soooo picky, and it is PERFECT! She didn’t over process my hair and we’re taking baby steps so it’s not so damaged. The cut itself is great too. She took a lot out without making my hair to thin. I walked out with a lighter brown bass and a beautiful blonde tint to my hair. I will definitely be coming back to update my hair every 3 months or so, and rebooking with Crystal again, to be able to get the light blonde I’m aiming for! The mimosas were a great added bonus. I gave this 4 stars because I noticed a few grays were missed in my part (which really bothered me) and because of the price I paid. But, nobody’s perfect.
Side note: My boyfriend no longer goes to his original barber. Instead he now goes here to and gets a GREAT cut and fade by Jessica along with an excellent beard trim!
I recommend this place! ¹⁰⁄₁₀!

I followed Anna here from her previous salon that recently closed. She is worth the schlep to Echo Park from Mar Vista and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to cut and color my hair!
I recently freaked out looking at my grey hairs and roots coming in, and immediately called Anna for an appointment. The last person who colored my hair did it a bit more red than I wanted. Anna talked me through my options, and we agreed to stay close to the same color, but with a semi-​permanent dye that would be less damaging on my fine thin hair. She also was able to tone down the red a bit without my color getting too dark or muddy. It looks great along with the cut she gave me on my last visit which makes my lackluster locks look much thicker than they are!

I just love going to see Dawn Reid at Rock Paper Salon. BEST Rock n Roll hair stylist on the planet. Great vibes in the salon, great music, product line, front desk staff, lots of 2HR meter and free street parking. Awesome eatery right next door and urban coffee bar across the street. CLOSE to Canter’s deli… AND while all that’s good STILL the best part is going to see the TALENTED and affordable Dawn Reid… She will Rock your World!

This is one of the nicest and cleanest salons I’ve been in yet! The stylists are all so experienced and patient. The GM COLETTE was so sweet and polite. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a professional service that is definitely not too expensive. They even do Dreadlock service!

I am a fan of this location. I like the vibe and the employees are very helpful. I like their work and I thank them again for not destroying my hair/​fro. :)

After not getting my haircut by a pro for over 2 years I was more than ready to make that leap and try once more. I was skittish, nervous but overdue and my rats nest was overgrown, dying and just plain ridiculous to deal with.
I hit the streets of Unilocal and went on a hunt on low and behold I found this little gem not far from my house in Echo Park.
I called to make an appointment and was greeted with a friendly voice who was more than happy to get me in to see Anna. After arriving I was a little early but they offered me a mimosa, wine or fresh coffee while I waited and made small talk. It was an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. Anna came down and greeted me with a smile and let me know she’d be me with soon.
Finally made it upstairs, nerves were crazy but Anna made me feel comfortable and asked me lots of questions. I didn’t really know what I wanted (is that weird?) I just wanted something modern, easy to do and a cut that could easily transition from day time professional and with a little work (cuz I’m totally lazy) twist into a look that was nightlife ready.
She made a few amazing suggestions and then we decided on an amazing uneven a-​line cut with a jagged swept bang.
Not gonna lie here as I watched my long hair hit the floor I was trying not to pass out. Anna was confident, made me feel totally at ease and after some precision scissor cuts, some sweet razor work, a little blow drying and flat iron finishing .it looked amazing!
I absolutely loved it so much I gave her a hug and couldn’t thank her enough for beautifying this do once more! My hair was shiny, bouncey and had life in it once more.
I highly highly recommend Rock Paper Salon for your hairstyling needs. While I was there I saw beautiful colors being created, amazing cuts galore happening and Jessica over there even does dreads. So go check em out next time you want something great to happen to your wig. You will enjoy the atmosphere and walk out feeling like a better version of you.

Kim Cohen was excellent as everyone says! She was attentive, informative, and delivered exactly what I had hoped for. From the moment we started, I knew I was in good hands… and I can be very picky about my blonde coloring. She took what was a very dark rooty and very bright blonde combination mess and turned it into beautiful dimensional blonde highlights and lowlights throughout.

This was my first time at the salon, and they were literally able to fit me in 10 minutes after I called. How can you beat that?!
Jenn was great, asked lots of questions about what I wanted for my new cut and helped show me how to style it a couple of different ways since I wanted something a little versatile.
Colette even walked me the few blocks home with her umbrella when I got stranded in the rain. Now that is amazing customer service. You can tell they are a salon that cares about their work and their clients. I’ll definitely be back.

The second time I walked in, I was quite impressed! The last time I dropped by, the salon was TINY!!! Everybody was stepping over each other, but the services were great and the Unilocal check in deal wasn’t bad (free beer)! I loved what they did my hair and decided I would come back when the time was right. I walk in the second time and the salon is empty??? What??? So turns out they expanded! The upstairs (in the old bungalow behind the original store front) is large and spacious! The shampoo/​conditioner and hair cut was nice and I like my do, and I’ll be coming back in about 6 months!

The ratings for this place was not kidding. Anna was awesome. I can’t believe I forgot her last name already. She was one of the newest girls there. I have to say I am picky with hair and have never found someone that completely meets my expectations. That would explain why I always have to keep jumping to different salons because I am always trying to find that perfect fit. Well I found her! And I hope she stays put! I had really grown out blonde ombré and wanted a touch up, better blend and no yellow. I was very skeptical because I always am. First they guessed it would take about 3.5 hours to do my hair. I’ve been told the same before (twice) and it always lasts 6 – 8 hours. So imagine how impatient I would get. It literally took around 3.5 hours! The salon was always very upfront and honest about pricing which I appreciate. And… They offer free drinks (unlimited) on the house which included mimosa! You can see the quality of work in the pictures itself. Love the work. Note– parking is a little tricky as its located on busy sunset. The outside and downstairs doesn’t look like much but upstairs is newly renovated and super modern and cute.

Great customer service! Online booking is available, and the salon was timely with my appointment schedule.
Metered parking out front but also street parking in the back for 1 hour with the exception of street cleaning and evening hours.

Emily is amazing. She nailed the color I was going for and was super personable and fun to work with. The salon itself is very clean and pretty. I’ve never had my color done in under three hours before. I arrived at 11:45 and was out by 1:45. Emily and the receptionist were wonderful and even put more money in the meter for me. I definitely will be coming back to Emily in the future. Thanks for the great experience!

Pictures are NOT halfway through, they were taken on the last & final day, so that was a lie.
i never agreed at the beginning of my visit that it would be a two-​session process so that’s another lie, it wasn’t until I came back from seeing my color that she agreed to try and fix it thus making me come back for the 2^nd day.
i am entitled to my opinion, i paid every cent but at the end of the day a great company only grows and is successful through their customers and good customer service is not charging your customer to fix a problem that you created.

I must admit I was a little wary on the reviews of this salon, seeing all the 5 star reviews made me think they must have some kind of special if you give them a good rating on Unilocal.Seeing a salon with so many good reviews is rare. But I was really needing a trim and color, and I called at 11:00 on a Sunday and got an appointment at 2:00 with Jessica Belanger. I loved her! I live in Orange County and never seem to have good luck at salons over here, everyone kind of just does the same thing. When I told Jessica I was growing my hair out and kind of wanted a 70’s feel, she knew exactly what I meant. The cut is simple, works well with my texture, and looks rad. Simple cuts are my favorite, I don’t want something high maintenance. My bangs were also a MESS and with a few snips of her shears she made them a thousand times better. I asked her to just cool down /​freshen my color and she did exactly that. I have a fear of going to salons because I always leave with something way shorter /​darker than what I wanted, and then I have to convince myself that I like it because I just paid $ 150. Not this time. Exactly what I wanted. A+ and I’ll be back to her for sure.
The salon was in a bit of disarray when I was there because they were remodeling /​moving things around, so I can’t really comment on the environment. I don’t care, as long as I get a good cut /​color I’m all good.

I am new to LA and have been so, so happy with Rock Paper Salon. The owner Kim has helped me make a dramatic transition to a short cut, and guided me to a natural color that looked great for months (a blonde meant to transition to ombré). The cut is phenomenal, and Kim found me the perfect product to get great results at home when I style myself.
Kim and all the women who work there are fun and sweet, and the environment is perfectly relaxed. I wasn’t afraid to ask for what I wanted, or for quick changes. They are personal and attentive, and I feel super confident that I’ll get great advice and an awesome result when I leave.

I was recommended to Emily by my old hairstylist who was moving. And Emily did not disappoint. After my first appointment I have become a regular. I like to change up my color and try new things. Emily is always helping me come up with fun color creations while still keeping the integrity of my hair. After every appointment my hair is still as soft as when I started. I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. Perfect cut and color every time.

Crystal made my day. This girl did my hair so flawless. I came in with an appointment made only 24 hours prior and with super permanent purple, blue, and green hair and I left the salon with beautiful blonde to pink ombré. ONE SESSION! She rocks and so do the other girls at the salon. Seriously, girls with challenging hair fantasies, look no further!
