Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles

I never imagined this horrible service.
I expected a special, real standout recipe.
The chicken was ordinary.
The waffles were ordinary.
The bill was what I’d expect to pay for extraordinary.
I’m going to look for something better.

I had breakfast here yesterday (1÷30÷16) w/​my BF. We went through the alley to find the parking lot, the entrance is kind of confusing. It’s blocked with cement posts, so you’re left not really sure where to enter through to park. So we were directed to a lot around the back, appears to be a church. We walked into Roscoe’s & were seated pretty quickly. It wasn’t that busy yet. It was around 9 – 9:30am on a Saturday. No big line outside, yet. Alejandra was our server, she gave us our menus and quickly disappeared. It seemed like everyone around us was getting faster service. The water is by request only, we didn’t know that until we paid for our food. There’s a sign posted by the entrance. We didn’t wait in the entrance area for that long, to have enough time read all of the posted signs. Either way, a gentleman eventually brought us our drinks, lemonade that is. Pretty good, nothing to «wow» about. It’s fresh squeezed. I like my lemonade kind of tart, their lemonade is on the sweeter side. Alejandra eventually brought us our food. I had the Obama combo w/​a waffle & a side of mac & cheese, my BF had the omelette & waffle. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it has the chicken in it. We usually share my mac, it’s really good, just a little small, for about $ 5.40. Kinda high, but really yummy. Overall, the food was yummy, the service was ok, the price was $ 39.02. +$ 5 for Alejandra. Not my choice, my BF’s. Lol!

If I didn’t have the worst server ever I would’ve gave this place a 5-​star review. The food was delicious! Waffles were so fluffy and the chicken was perfect. I also got a side of mac & cheese since I’ve heard that theirs was amazing. It really was!
The only thing that made this experience not AMAZING was the HORRIBLE server we had. She was really rude and not friendly at all, I think her name was Kila. Even when I said thank you she just stared at me and walked away. She came to our table twice, once to pick up our order and another to bring the check. Other servers had to help us out with things we needed. And no it was not busy at all! For the first time ever I didn’t leave a tip, that’s how horrible her service was. As for all the other staff they were amazing, super friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend, just hope you don’t get Kila.

Exactly what I was looking for. I love love love their waffles (have a little bit of cinnamon toast crunch flavor) and the fried chicken is solid. Location looks a little sketch from the outside but inside is clean and homey. Service was friendly.
Definitely make sure you share! Even a number 1 (¼ chicken and 2 waffles) is almost enough for two people. Will be back again.

I frequent this restaurant regularly and I am always satisfied with the chicken and waffles. A friend suggested that I try the chicken, chili, cheese fries and raved about how her boyfriend LOVED them. Biggest Mistake Ever!!! The chili had the look and texture of dog food, nor do they use real cheese. I took 2 bites and felt my stomach churning. I ended up throwing the food in the trash. What a waste of $ 10.00. I will still go to this restaurant, but I will stick with the Obama Special…

When I used my phone’s Unilocal App to locate restaurants near my work place, I was elated that Roscoe’s was within a 5 minute drive. So, for lunch one day, I phoned in my order: The #18 (one thigh with Waffle), an extra side of thigh and a side of potato salad. I made my way over right after phoning in my order and was lucky to find a parking spot in the strip mall where this Roscoe’s is located. Parking on this lot is based on luck. My order was ready by the time I walked in. My total for my order was $ 17, which I thought was a bit pricey — given that for around the same amount of money I could have gotten a family meal at any fast food chicken eatery. Once I got back to my work site, and opened my boxes, I noticed that the chicken had melted the styrofoam container — the chicken itself was a bit on the overdone side. Although the waffle was a bit soggy, it was quite delicious.

Enough can’t be said enough about Roscoe’s. They have great food and service to match. Certainly can be busy at times, but that’s just a testament of how good the restaurant is. We live roughly two hours away and have on more than one occasion made an excuse to make a trip to Los Angeles just to get some Roscoe’s. It’s probably good there is not a location closer as I’d be there every day. They even offer a military discount which is appreciated.

Kinda pricey and sometimes the wait for the food is a little too long, for real. But to put it simply, the chicken is the bomb!!! The grits and the mac and cheese, the waffles are pretty good too!

We came here for brunch right before our flight out of LAX. The parking lot was small but we were able to find a spot since it was still early. The food came quickly and was delicious! We got the half order of fried chicken and waffles as well as a side order of potatoes and gravy as well as candied yam. The chicken here is soo crispy and tender. The waffle is well, just waffles, but the side orders are also so tasty! Wish there was one closer in Ventura county!

Where to start, parking is horrible there. Being a busy spot you would think it would have alot of parking NOPE! Next the wait wasnt bad at all 5−10mins. When we got seated that is where our nightmare started. There was a married couple in front of us married couple behind us and another couple behind them now we were second to be seated out of the group. The first couple their orders were taken before us, the couple behind us and the couple behind them and on our right on the other side as well… By then 15mins passed the couple next to us had their drinks the people behind us as well… I was mad that all servers would look at us and pass us by. Poor lack of service. Finally one server approached us and had a attitude and asked «has anyone taken your order» seeing we had our menus in hand our check they use on our table should say NO!!! By then I asked let me speak to the manager 5 mins later Rica the floor supervisor approached us and ask how she could help. I had my keys in hand two KIDS super hungry… Now I told her what was wrong and she was sympathetic but asked «are you going to stay or go» Since we waited so long we stayed…
Food: waffles were small and cold
Fries were stale and salty afk!!!
Chicken was the only thing good…

After all these years I finally got to try Roscoes infamous chicken and waffles and I must say that I am addicted. I would drive to LA every weekend just to eat it.
I ordered the waffles with chicken breast with a side of mac n cheese and corn bread. Their chicken is so crispy!
The service was great as well. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I hear that Roscoes is usually always super busy but there wasn’t a wait when I came in. Food comes out super fast too!

Out of all the roscoe that I been too… this is the best place because of the the friendly service and great foods… we got our table the moment we arrive and it was on a sunday… the manager was nice enough to share some joke… the waiter give me a military discount for my service.

Nothing special here. Service was ok. The food came out before the eating utensils were put on the table. I loved the lemonade. The food left much to be desired. My husband usually says, it was «eatable». Today, he says it wasn’t that (eatable), but he ate it all.

We’re from Vegas so coming to California, we just had to stop by Roscoes!
This particular Roscoes probably can get the award for Best Staff! From the moment we get into the parking lot the nice man helped us find parking. He was defiantly holding that parking lot down. He was very welcoming.
Then we sat down right away with no wait which was unusual too because when ever I go to Roscoes I always have at least a 15 – 30 minute wait. Maybe we just came at the right time.
We ordered I got the Carols Special of course with smothered chicken with a side of Mac n Cheese. YUM! The Kitchen Manager came out and asked us if we were doing ok and chit chatted with us for a bit. He was even helping his staff clean tables. He was a nice guy, wish I remembered his name!
Overall great experience, great food as always, and great company!

I have forgotten how good Roscoe is. I could never understand my brother’s obsession with Roscoe until this past visit.
This is my first visit at this location, usually we go to the one in Pasadena since that’s closer.
Before heading back to NC, my friend and I stopped by here for brunch. I am so glad this was how I spent my last couple of hours in LA. What a great way to end my short trip home. We were there at around 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and got seated right away. The restaurant was very clean with lots of Obama related deco.
They’ve added a couple new item combo on the menu, but overall it was as I remembered. I ordered thigh with waffle combo and my friend got the Carol C Special (breast & waffle). We also got an order of mac & cheese and greens to share. The crispy-​fried, well-​seasoned chickens and waffles along the sides came out shortly. After a quick few snapchat shots to show off to my nor cal/​out of state friends, I dug in. It was so good. The chicken was juicy and moist with a nice crispy crust. The seasoning was on point. The waffle was very good too. We both enjoyed the mac & cheese and the greens. I had no complains, other than the size of my stomach being too small and not able to fit everything… The mood in the restaurant is so cheery because everyone was enjoying their meal!
Service was great. They provide hand wipes at the end of the meals to each person to wipe cleans their fingers (after sucking them, of course). I ordered a Carol C Special to go to bring it back to my friend. They packed the food very nicely, with the utensils, syrups, hot sauce, and butter in a separate paper bag. I opened the container in the box on my way to the airport to let the food cool so the food doesn’t get soggy. Even though we just ate, the tantalizing smell of chicken and waffle made us want to gobble up that to-​go order. I am going back to SoCal at the end of June, and I am already making plans with my friends to go to Roscoe!

Anybody who knows me, knows how I feel about service! Let’s start there! Service was warm, welcoming and on cue! Great service.
I’ve heard waay to much about Roscoe’s in LA NOT to go! I walked in to what felt like a local small town restaurant somewhere down South with the comfort food smell to match!
I came in on a weekday late morning with some friends. I had the fried chicken breast SMOTHERED with the waffles and a side of Mac n Cheese! My smothered chicken was BANGING and the mac n cheese was ignorantly DELICIOUS! Food was everything Paul Deen wish she could make! Loved it! Definitely a must visit gem!

I was highly recommended this place by an employee at a local record shop in my home town who is such a fan of this place he bought a t-​shirt from them.
It’s a greasy spoon/​hang over food. It is what it is.
I loved the attitude of this place, a charm that I haven’t seen replicated at home in Vancouver.
A shit load of food for a very decent price.
This place made go from East Indian to Southern in 0 — 60. It’s been 20 years since I’ve had fried chicken and f*ck have a missed it. I think my waist missed it to.
Soul food at it’s best. I even made up a song and dance for this place I was so excited.
Portions are big that two Canadians can share a dish.

Man I love roscoes! I usually go to the location in long beach but this one is a bit closer to home, so ehh why not give it a shot?
Same delicious quality food so I can’t complain! The waiters here lack in customer service but idgaf. Just bring me my food and let me eat!
I always get the Obama special but this time I got 1 waffle and chicken breast. Forgot what combo # it was. Oh and extra syrup please! Nothing I love more than drenching my chicken in sweet syrup mm mm mmmm!
There corn bread is also very tasty! Mac and cheese is a little different. Not that its lame but its got a soul food feel to it. Cheese is a lot different, but its still amaaazing! Gotta try it definitely recommend! :-)
