I love this place for everything but their Sound. Full disclosure I sat in the nosebleeds for the 6⁄21 show of Cage the Elephant. Security and staff were awesome and helpful. I enjoyed talking to all of them as I moved about the theatre. My only complaint and it’s a big one is that the sound up in the nosebleeds is god awful. The best I could do to describe the experience is that it sounded like I was hearing the muffled sounds of a band from outside the venue. I have a friend that saw Dylan the week before in the same section and had a great experience. i guess the take away is buyer beware if you going to see someone that is loud.

Though I’ve loved Bob Dylan’s music my entire life, I don’t attend a ton of concerts, and haven’t seen him perform since the 90’s. The quality of sound and company at a crowded concert doesn’t generally appeal to me, and after a recent acoustic trauma, I came armed to this show with industrial-strength earplugs for my Row #2 experience. I never even had to take them out of the package, however. The Shrine Auditorium acoustics certainly must have contributed to the quality of sound, but I suspect that in any environment Bob Dylan’s current band produces only the enchanting sounds of true experts, without any of the noise that sometimes accompanies the amplification of lesser skilled musicians. It was perfect. Watching Bob himself was as wonderful as hearing him. He alternated between crooning Sinatra standards with a sweet and skillful voice that is different from and more exacting than any other phase of his musical career, and rocking out a myriad of upbeat tunes from his own songbook on his baby grand piano. He performed with a devilish grin on his face and a spring in his step, and engaged each song, as well as his band members, with genuine care and what looked a lot like affection. The audience in the front rows as well as throughout the auditorium was a mix of fans from their teen years all the way to the«unable to walk the stairs to the restroom» ages. It was incredible, albeit at times annoying, to hear young twenty-somethings screaming«Bobby-D!» and«Sing it Bobby!» in the middle of his performance with the same impassioned fervor that their grandparents’ generation had during his 1960’s performances. It is remarkable to me that one artist can move generation after generation, myself included, so very deeply through intelligent and provocative sound and lyricism. I’m so glad that I went to this show, and I am so grateful that musicians like Bob Dylan exist.

So when I looked up the Shrine on Google I noticed a ton of photos of the auditorium. I’ve never been so this whole time I thought we were seeing Thrice in that auditorium. I had no idea they had an expo hall(which needs updating IMO). It was alright though. Thought it’d have the same fanciness as the auditorium. I’ve been to a few others concerts and they were in the same setting as the expo hall here, grungy and out of date. We got there early enough that the lines weren’t too long and there was still parking close by. Parking is pricey but it’s literally right next to the Shrine. The entrance looks historic but when you get to the hall it looks old and in need of refreshing. The restrooms are like a mile away from the hall but there are plenty of stalls. It got so warm in the hall after thousands finally huddled up for the start of the show. Thank goodness I wore shorts and a tank and even then I was sweating my pits off.

This will be a review for both the Shrine Auditorium and the Expo Hall Auditorium: Saw Dave Ramsey’s Smart Money Conference at the auditorium PROS: The staff were very organized, seating was comfortable, I went during the summer so the Air-conditioning was perfect. Restrooms were clean. Sound was good for a conference* CONS: Parking was like a maze. Staff redirecting you towards where to go(on a Saturday) Parking was the reason we were late but it was free. The balcony seating was quite too far from the stage. You will really be left with watching the screens. Seating on the balcony was quite steep with no leg room. Not good for those with acrophobia. Expo Hall: Saw THRICE play June 2016. Friday PROS: The interior of the expo is beautiful! The stage and the lighting was nice. They had refreshments on the left and right of the bottom hall, and one upstairs which was great to avoid crowds. The place is huge. Staff and security were well organized. CONS: Parking was terrible! Save yourself the trouble and pay $ 20 to park at their designated lot. They had the lights and sound engineers set up with a railing around them in the middle-back of the main hall. It was quite a random set up but it helped short people like me because I was able to stand right by their set up, and block people from standing directly in front of me. They have a balcony section which was nice. ¼ of it was used for VIP’s only. The balcony is only good for those who can be right on the railing. If you can’t be by the rail, then forget the balcony. SUPERCON: The Air-conditioning… what air-conditioning. IT was hot in there! SUPERSAIYANCON: THESOUNDSYSTEM. I was there to rock out with one of my favorite bands ever but the sound just didn’t seem right. I’ve seen them play other venues before and I know how awesome these guys are live. The shrine just didn’t seem to bump them right. I don’t know what it was exactly… I know how tough it can be to make the room sound right but as a big venue, I would expect for them to get the sound right. Overall, Please fix your sound system and AC in the expo hall! It’s not like I have a choice with venues as it’s up to the artists I like. But It would be great to have those fixed before I my next visit =D

My parents brought us to the Shrine a lot when I was a kid, but now I seem to be brining myself to the Expo Hall quite often as an adult. I saw both a Bastille and Grizfolk show and a private Pitbull show at the expo hall. They were totally different experiences and both were awesome in their own vein. I would never hesitate to see a show here or book the space for a large event.

One of my favorite concert venues in L.A. I’ve been to shows in both the Expo Hall and the Auditorium and had an amazing time in both. It looks like the venue has had some recent upgrades(it’s come a long way since I attended the BET Awards in 2010). In the auditorium, I’ve sat in both the Loge and the Orchestra, and the view was excellent from both locations. The staff is friendly and helpful. I forgot to print out my tickets at home, and the box office was more than helpful with helping me print them out. The seat numbers are a little weird… odds on one side, evens on the other. I was a little confused when I got there, but the gentleman at the guest services table pointed me in the right direction. The Expo Hall is tons of fun. It’s a GA Standing room so first come first serve. I enjoyed my spot at the back of the floor and saw the stage just perfectly. I love what this place has transformed into and can’t wait to enjoy more shows here!

I always have a great time at the Shrine for shows, the box office staff is amazing and always super helpful and professional. My favorite shows here have been Motörhead, Dillon Francis, and my all time favorite is Lena Del Ray. New Order was awesome, Jamie XX, and most recently the 1975. Always have a really dope time at Festival Supreme too. Aside from the heat, Dethklok and Dier Antword were stellar. It was funny listening to them next to a church. Aside from the screaming girls and star struck concert goers pushing their way to the front, I can’t complain about this venue at all. Keep it up Shrine!

Parking was easy. because I didn’t mind spending 20 dollars to get into the garage next to the Shrine, and I showed up 2 hours early. Traffic was ok. because I left before the LAPD started directing traffic into a gridlock. The audience experience was ok. because I paid nothing and thus expected nothing. Sound was excellent and the view from my seat was fine. Because it was dark and I have terrible vision I couldn’t see the various things others have complained about, like how run down the theater and seating area were. Restrooms. have to go down and up a flight of stairs to see some dated and mildew crusted stalls. Concessions. they were there but I didn’t bother because they looked understaffed. This place definitely needs some renovations and it could potentially be a nice venue that I wouldn’t go out of my way to avoid.

Quick review for the Shrine. My wife got ticket’s for KROQ’s April foolishness comedy show. She got us great balcony seats in the center, the Shrine is an old and very iconic Los Angeles landmark with beautiful architecture, but the seating is God awful. My seat was a mere 4 inches from the seat in front of me and that left no room to move my legs or strech out one of my many cramps. I have had more legroom on a Southwest airline plane than what I had last night!

Decent venue! Restroom: ample number of stalls and we didn’t have to wait very long for the ladies room. There was a kind woman, handing out paper towels. Drinks: definitely head upstairs to buy drinks as the ground floor bar lines were crazy. I was able to quickly buy drinks but they were rather weak for DTLA prices. Get your pre game on BEFORE entering the Shrine. Drink game here is a bit of a rip off. Venue itself: pretty nice! We were able to land orchestra seats and were pretty happy with our experience. Parking: $ 20 to park in a school next door. Great proximity. The road to the actual lot is narrow so that’s the only thing I disliked. We left early enough to avoid traffic but I could only imagine how bad it got if we didn’t get out of there quickly. There wasn’t anyone directing traffic and it had the makings of a traffic clusterfuck.

I saw Purity Ring here not too long ago. We had GA tickets and were able to secure a pretty awesome spot to view the show. Drinks are expensive, but who is expecting otherwise? It’s a concert and you are part of a captive audience. They search and pat you down on the way in but in my experience THEYDONOTCHECK IDs which is great news for those of you who are lucky enough to be attending the upcoming Radiohead shows. See you there!

This venue for a concert is awesome. The place just reeks of history(and possibly vomit too?) but it’s beautiful. I expected that a place as historic as this one would have antiquated air circulation and prepared by wearing short sleeves. Good call. I was sweatin’ to the oldies. Upon entering, the group needed to make a pit stop which were located on the floor below us. This place is huge! Afterwards, we went up to the 2nd floor for drinks. The drinks were super expensive and not that strong. Hello. $ 36 for 1 beer and 2 small vodka n water?! We got 20th row seats on the first floor which were good. The acoustics and the view was great too. Note: Parking was $ 20.

The event staff was very courteous and accommodating for ADA. Parking for $ 20 nearby, totally worth it, the lot is well lit, secure, and around the corner. The bathrooms were cleaner than I would have expected with attendants who had just about everything you could want/need. The drinks were pricey but nothing too outrageous considering the event/venue. The show itself was phenomenal! I would easily attend another event for a performing artist here in the future!

Honestly before attending the concert(G-eazy) I read reviews and it scared me a little, thought I was not going to enjoy myself at all, but I did, well I mean it’s G-eazy helloooo! But cons are, if you have a good view and people see that you have a good view they will go in front of you and take your good view away from you, which can get annoying, especially if they are tall (Advice)stand in the back, although you will be a little further back, you will see the stage and get to see the performer better then being in deep in the crowd, where the best view is the persons head in front of you, and it’s fresher! (Food)They have tater tots! And chips and pretzels, we got tater tots, and they were pretty gooooood(food is pricey) but what is you gonna dooooooooooo as for parking, I parked at the USC parking, it’s 20 $, and I already prepared myself to pay that much for parking, It was literally right across the street from the shrine, so it was all guccci(better then trying to find parking outside, talk about struggle)! Getting out of the structure takes some time, like 15 min tops! But just bump your music and be patient «715 W Jefferson Blvd to be exact of parking entrance» Going in and checking, Concert started at 8, and we got there at 8:30, when we got there the lady just told me to turn around, checked me out a little, she didn’t pat me down, and she just flashed her light in my bag and that was it, as for guys, idk if it was just because they finished checking all of the early people who came at 7pm, and they were just over it, but that’s all she did! Welp have fun!

Came to the Shrine to see Milkychance back in August. The Shrine was an alright concert venue — it is much larger than the Wiltern or Troubadour but the sound quality was just horrible. I’m not sure if I’ll ever come back to the venue unless a bucket list band is playing here. Getting here/parking is a pain too. It is located next to USC so the surrounding area is not very safe. We didn’t risk street parking but didn’t want to pay the astronomical $ 20 parking fee. Luckily, I was able to borrow a USC parking pass and was able to park for free on campus. Other options include the Metro(but again, I wouldn’t walk by myself at night since the station isn’t situated on campus). If you can swing it: you can buy concert tickets at their box office and not pay the stupid service fee(grrrrrrrrrrr…such disdain) — Thursdays from 12−5pm(cash only)

Whenever my friends post pictures on IG or videos on Snapchat of a concert hosted here, I always think that the Shrine is like some sort of warehouse. After coming here, I realized it is not, haha. I went here recently for an Odesza concert, kind of a spur of the moment shenanigan. Going through security was pretty easy and fast, and walking inside the Shrine was pretty cool; I didn’t expect it to be so fancy! It kind of has an Middle Eastern/European«shrine» atmosphere in the lobby. When I walked in the actual hall, it’s actually pretty cool and modern, with multiple bars and a huge space for the concert go-ers. My friend and I enjoyed the Odesza concert, dancing the night away. Leaving the concert was as easy as entering. As for parking, we parked across the street at a USC parking structure, which was super close. They charge $ 20 for events, but if you mention if you are here for something else other than the concert(like visiting a friend on the campus — make sure you have a building in mind), you can get a discount, like $ 12. Have fun and be safe!

Really awesome venue. Cavernous but acoustically sound, it really has great areas to enjoy music. The balcony, specifically, is awesome and if you stand ‘center stage’ on the back balcony it’s one of the coolest sights I’ve seen at any concert. Really fun venue, good work here.

Now that the venue’s been redone, this is easily one of my favorite locations to catch a show. From the upstairs rafters to the copious amounts of room to dance at the back, a plus seating area inside and a litany of room to move and groove outside when the dance floor just gets too hot — the Shrine is where it’s at. Recently, I’ve seen Dillon Francis, Beats Antique, Shpongle and Gareth Emery at the Shrine — but thanks to Goldenvoice, it’s always got a kickass lineup and a great vibe.

I go to a lot of concerts(I’ve been called a concert junkie quite often) and the Shrine consistently is just an ok venue. It is not my favorite for both rock and electronic music concerts by far. Whenever I find out an artist I like is performing in LA I get excited and then I get slightly disappointed that it is at the Shrine. So far at the Shrine I have seen Above & Beyond(May 2012), Porter Robinson(September 2014), The Neighbourhood(October 2015), and Gareth Emery(November 2015) in the Expo Hall. In the Auditorium I have seen CHVRCHES(October 2015), For the Expo Hall, if you are a hobbit and want any sort of view without going to the second level, then GETTHEREEARLY. Please do not be that one person that tries to push and shove there way to the front when they clearly did not come early. Or prepare to stand further back where it is less crowded. The sound is very loud in the front especially if you going to an EDM show so bring ear plugs or prepare to have your ears ringing. I still prefer the Hollywood Palladium over the Shrine Expo Hall for both rock and EDM concerts. The auditorium was just ok. Not my favorite still since the line of sight isn’t that great compared to other seated venues like the Greek and the Hollywood Bowl. The seats are old and very tiny. I’m pretty petite and I thought the seats weren’t super comfy. The walkway is also very tiny if you’re trying to get to the center of a row of seats, which is annoying since you have to stand up to let people pass. There are restrooms downstairs and in the back of the Expo Hall and there is rarely a line for the ladies one, which is a plus! Security is very slow. They check all bags and pat you down. If the show is sold out, the line for security can be long. There is parking at the venue but it makes my wallet cry a waterfall. I always look for street parking by USC and have been lucky enough to snag a spot each time I came here. However, since the area isn’t exactly the safest, make sure you have someone with you at night. For tickets, the Shrine uses AXS(similar to Ticketmaster so there is a virtual queue). If you live close to the Shrine and the show isn’t the kind to sell out instantly, then go buy the tickets at the box office and save yourself the ridiculous ticket fees. AXS usually charges over $ 10+ in convenience fees.

I loved this venue! Getting in an out was not a hassle at all. When it comes to music venues, my main things are: 1. Can you get a drink in a reasonable amount of time? 2. Can you get in and out of the venue in a reasonable amount of time, and safely? 3. Can I use the restroom in a reasonable amount of time? Well, I had no issues with any of these requirements for me. I had enough room to dance and enjoy the DJ. and I enjoyed 324oz Stellas and had a good time!

«Oh, can you feel my heart? «I think I feel it, too» — — — — — — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — – Quick Review™: Try to avoid the box office if at possible. Try to avoid getting too into it in the pit where you end up in the front row against the stage(which is insanely high). Try to avoid the seating in the back of the orchestra underneath the mezzanine(where the sound is garbage and cameras are set up to obstruct your view if in the first row). Try to avoid practically everything including expectations because this venue has proverbial warts and its staff at the box office is atrociously unconcerned with customer service. — — — — — — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — – Ah, I like the Shrine. It’s old, it has character. It makes me wish we had a Shrine of our own in my town. Step one: Tickets Get your ducat[s] via the world wide web. They use AXS. AXS employs use of the virtual queue. Just relax. And keep trying. Pro Tip: winners never quit. Step two: Parking It’s free. There is definitely tons of free street parking in the neighbourhood if you know how to drive(and parallel).(Easily located in Fraternity/Sorority rows of USC.) Otherwise, there is a parking structure where they charge some amount(20 $, 25 $, 30 $? I don’t know; I like to spend money on other matters than where I leave a car). Pro Tip: do this early or you apparently will be sorry. Step three: Venue Gates You gotta get passed them to get inside. Be mindful of what you’re attempting to bring in. CSC and Staff Pro may not necessarily recruit geniuses to fill open positions; however, some of them have been around the block. Pro Tip: keep the drugs at home. Step four: Explore You have to wander around this historic venue. Go to the different floors if you have an assigned seat. If you are GA, well: see if you can do so afterwards. Pro tip: don’t get too broken up about not being at the barrier here. The stage is entirely too high. Step five: Rock Out Inconspicuously slip in your protection and listen to the sweet, soothing sounds of whatever you are here to listen to. Pro tip: always wear hearing protection. — — — — — — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — – Sound It is better than the old Forum.(Don’t know about the new one.) Unless you are under the Mezz. Forget about it if you are under the balcony. Lines of Sight The orchestra located behind the aisle, or rear orchestra(under the balcony), is not good. I mean not goooooord. The pit is an actual real depressed pit and is, well … not goord. Lines of sight are not goord since the stage/tarima is really high and the pit is depressed. Miscellaneous Water fountains on each floor. Male restrooms are an outrageous experience with those wacky floor urinals(don’t pee on your feet). Not sure about female restrooms; YMMV. — — — — — — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — – Box Office They informed me for one event that they did not have two tickets, only one. They told me this because they had a single that they needed to sell. While I was wrapping up my purchase, the couple in the window right adjacent to me were talking different options for pairs of tickets. The kids who sat next to me during the show got their pair well after I was sold my single as well. This row in the orchestra was five seats hence the need to bamboozle the lone single to some sap(me). It gets worse: they sold me an obstructed view seat at full price even though I was not informed in any way, shape, form, or verse that it was obstructed. Then, when I pointed out that I was in an obstructed view area due to the production of KROQ: essentially told me to go kick rocks in regards to expecting any customer service in regards to remedy. They did however — ever so benevolently — offer a «refund.» Refund of what? The ticket price is the least of the expenses when it comes to an out-of-town traveller here for a show. Cool venue, one of the worst box offices on planet Earth. The box will go out of its way to break hearts on show night. — — — — — — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — – Rating: Three-stars, «A-OK.»(Because I am nice guy.)(Ask the Coachella board.)

Heads up: PARKINGIS A HASSLE! Make sure you arrive at least an hour early for parking so you can catch the opening band on time! We were stuck in traffic around the venue because a long line was forming outside of the garage. We didn’t have the patience to wait so we left the line and later found out it was full at one point and the attendant outside the garage stopped the cars from going in. He was also spending a lot of time jotting down info of every single car!!! What’s the point? Also, it’s really bad how there’s no one in the area to direct traffic and no obvious signs indicating where to park. We ended up parking near subway and cold stone at the 2 hour parking curb and was expecting to come back out to add more money in the middle of he concert. That’s the only way we could manage to still catch the last song of the opening band that we wanted to see! It’s the most terrible parking of any music venue I’ve been to. Just terrible. The venue itself was pretty big, mostly long and not too wide. The acoustics was just okay because the sound was not enough to fill up the space. It didn’t wow me at all. We didn’t stay long so we didn’t bother to get a drink. There are signs that clearly tell you where to buy them. The merchandise has no line whatsoever, just a giant big mess of people crowding up the tables from every angle that block out the merchandise section, kinda like how it is when you wait to order your drink at a busy bar on New Year’s Eve, well at least I had cash ready in my hands that caught the staff’s eyes so it didn’t take me long to get helped. The acoustics were just okay, parking was extremely ridiculous, lines at merchandise were a mess. We missed the first 15 mins of the opening band that we wanted to watch and they only performed for 24 mins. If I can, I would avoid this venue at all cost. Ugh.

The Shrine Auditorium isn’t as bad as people make it out to be! I came here this past November and saw Bastille. They were amazing and totally used the space to their advantage. When the lead singer Dan Smith ran into the crowd, everyone gravitated towards him, so naturally I got swept by the crowd and somehow ended up about 5 – 6 rows closer than I originally was! It was awesome. Anyways, the Shrine has two floors, and if you want to be in the front or have a really good view of your artist, at least on the first floor, it’s first come first serve(standing too!). The space has an intimate feel even though it’s fairly large inside. Hmm, oh, they got drinks, yay! The bartenders were friendly(at least the ones I ran into). Naturally since this is LA, drinks are expensive, but I thought it was worth it. Parking is not so bad. The shrine is located right next to USC, so if you want to try and find street parking to avoid paying, it might be a bit difficult. I circled around for like 15 – 20 minutes, gave up, and decided to park in their structure, which was shared by USC students as well. They do check bags and do a quick pat-down here too, but it’s understandable if you think about the area you’re in.

Freshfest2015* Kday Parking $ 20 not bad. We were literally 20 ft from entrance. Lines were short. Pat down was thorough & quick. We didn’t take shoes off. lol Drinks $ 20 for a double shot. fml. It is what it is! So it’s obvious at a rap/hiphop concert you gonna have troublmakers. Why does it have to be like that? If it wasn’t for the LOVE of the music my experience at the Shrine coulda’ been dangerous. I had already purchased my tixs. Lodge/loge level. I played a game and randomly won FRONTROWTICKETS. AWESOMERIGHT??? like the best seats you can get. The security in my area was awful. I got kicked in boob by a hoochie that jumped on stage. The security literally left his spot and some guy squeezed his ass in front of me. But there was no security clearing the space. Another couple tried to get security but he ignored them. We had these 2 chicanos. Pushing and dogging. So honestly my date had to choke that fool out and then a few guards came up escorted the punks out. They were drunk. Some blk guys backed up my date and literally made sure we were safe and didn’t get kicked out. Mad respect! It could of got really ugly… The lighting was terrible. Literally burning our backs like the sun! The sound/speakers were wack. Front row should be able to hear clearly. Our friends that we gave our loge tix to also mentioned how bad speakers were and how hot it was. I made the best of it. No one was going to ruin my Front row experience. I don’t know if I’ll come back to shows here. It really depends who’s performing.

I like this venue simply for the history and décor. I spent a great deal of time just hanging out on the stage not being used haha. Parking here is $ 20, which is expensive but pretty standard for what I’ve learned about LA since moving here Drinks are also expensive, $ 10 for a vodka orange. Another LA or rather big city thing so I wasn’t shocked. It was the last drink I bought. I had never been to this venue before and was coming to see Motörhead and Saxon. I arrived early to the area to find parking and I noticed that parking closer to the venue was $ 20 and I said heck no! I found a great metered parking spot within walking distance and luckily I have a handicap plaque so I didn’t have to pay anything. Once up near the entrance, they separate the guys and the gals to give everyone a good olé pat down to make sure we aren’t concealing any contraband or weapons. I didn’t mind as I figured, better safe than sorry. Once inside, I asked if there was anyway to make my way up to the balcony level as I cannot be amongst hoards of people. Knowing from previous experience attending Motörhead shows, I knew there would be a lot of pushing and shoving. The staff was more than courteous and kindly led me up to the ADA section. The view from up there was amazing! You could see the bands and all the craziness happening below so much better and at your own comfort. Also, there’s a Bar up on the balcony level too which I was thrilled about since it was mayhem to try to get a drink on the General Admission level. The bartender was an Irish lad who didn’t laugh at me for ordering Jameson and ginger ale; Jameson is one of my favorites, however, I learned later that night that the respected whiskey of choice in the music industry and at a Motörhead concert no less is of course, Jack Daniels and coke so I ordered that on my next round. Between intermissions I was able to go up and down to the smoking outdoor area and whenever I was ready to head back, there was a lovely lady in an elevator waiting to take me up. The outdoor level was pretty huge and refreshingly cool considering it was hot indoors. I had a great time! The staff was so nice and accommodating. I didn’t know what to expect as I was told this Venue was basically a dance hall but having the option to experience the bands from up top and at a safe distance really added to the experience!

Awesome venue near USC. This venue hosts many different kinds of events and is known as historical cultural monument to the city of angels here in Los Angeles. I came this past weekend to witness, Invicta Fc which is currently the only women’s MMA organization. It was held in the Expo hall which has a capacity of 5,000. It includes a balcony and open patio area. For this event security and all workers from the shrine were on point. Bartenders were super busy as well. Alcohol was pricey. For example, a 16 oz beer cost $ 11. I would recommend parking away from the venue. The area is patrolled and safe as it surrounds campus life and college town. overall, I really enjoyed coming here and would love to experience a different type of event here someday.
