Wonderful atmosphere! The owner came and joined us at our table and told us the history of the place. They bring the bread straight from Europe to be cooked in their specialty ovens in the kitchen. the pulled pork sandwich. was very cozy place where you could spend time relaxing, talking with a friend and enjoy without a rush to get in and out. Beer and wine is available as well and there is an outside smoking area for those who want to have a smoke. I see it’s reported closed I hope is b accident and that is still there

So I agree that if this place were somewhere else, it would probably deserve the 3 star average that it currently has. The sandwiches are decent, but they aren’t amazing, and the prices are reasonable, but again, not amazing. But for the relative wasteland of good, affordable, quick food in the near-the-Pantages area, the sandwiches were *very* good, and *very* affordable. Still not terribly tapas-like — they’re basically just little sandwiches — but they’re not bad little sandwiches, even if they did take a little longer to get to us than you might expect given that, again, they’re basically meat and cheese on bread.

Came here with a group on a Tuesday evening. I tried the cheese and olive oil montado and the tortilla espanola with tomato & chipotle aoli one. Nothing was bad, I was just not impressed by any flavors(and the cashier had said the toritilla one is cut up, but it wasn’t — not that it makes a difference in taste, but it was prepared the same way as the other one — just an fyi). My sangria had no fruit and was just sweetened red wine, definitely nothing to write home about(at least it was only $ 4) Probably would not go back nor recommend.

It’s clean, it’s cool inside. Not the friendliest, and you serve your own water. Place isn’t all that exciting and the price is on the high side for what you get. The little sandwiches are tasty. Our waiter told us the menu was wrong and we ended up getting a mixed platter. One of the sandwiches we never figured out what it was but they were all good. Not a fantastic place to go but it sure was nice to step out of the muggy heat and crowd.

I’ve yet to be here later in the day, but it’s a sweet little morning spot. The montados are the perfect size for a breakfast bite, and there’s a pretty rockin’ selection. In terms of coffee, I wasn’t impressed(you can’t do a café au lait, really?) but still solid. Would definitely swing by again for a fast breakfast before work or as a quick stop on a walk.

Trying to pass time nearby Create and feeling for a snack+drink, we originally were going to try to get into The W, but Solo Tapas’ sign caught our attention with their Happy Hour chalkboard sign on the sidewalk. I’ve never experienced a tapas restaurant like this. It has an very interesting atmosphere… Almost like a Chipotle that has a wine wall and serves alcohol. The menu was overwhelming because of all of the choices. The server/host was super helpful, but talked A LOT. It took a long time to get our order in through him. But he was very nice and knew that we weren’t from LA. I’m not too familiar with this style of tapas, but all I gotta say is… THETINYLOAVESOFBREADARESODAMNCUTE… and tasty as well. The concept of this place and their menu is intriguing. You can have sandwiches, or open faced sandwiches, or have them naked(deconstructed) on a cheeseboard. It was a great choice for pre-clubbing snack since it wasn’t too heavy. They offer other kinds of small tapas, but not really like a typical tapas restaurant. Happy Hour is every day and the drink special were really good from what I can recall. We ordered 3 naked sandwiches and 2 glasses of sangria for a total on my receipt of just barely over $ 16. STEAL. I wouldn’t mind coming back here again next time I’m in the area.

We had a reservation at a nearby restaurant, but their air conditioning went out and it was 98 degrees in Hollywood and we just couldn’t do it. So we went in search of food before our show at the Pantages, and ended up here. We looked at the menu and it seemed intriguing, so we went for it. This place mostly has these cute little sandwiches of various combinations. I ordered a #29, which was grilled chicken, caramelized onions and salmorejo sauce, and a #50, which was pulled pork, crispy onions, and aioli. I also ordered Spanish brava potatoes. My chicken sandwich was really good — the bread was amazing. The pork sandwich was not as good. I think it was the aioli that gave it a kind of slimy consistency. The potatoes were okay.
My hubby had the pulled pork and also a couple of sandwiches with prosciutto. He liked the prosciutto ones so much he ordered another. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We’ll probably try it again the next time we go to the Pantages. It’s a great concept and I think you just have to try different items until you find the ones you really like.

Exceptional Tapas sandwiches made with bread directly from Spain. How do you ask they get fresh bread from Spain? Well, first they make the bread from all natural ingredients — no preservatives and bake it(but not all the way) and vacuum seal for transport. Once here, they cook it all the way through for freshly baked bread from Spain. Pair any of the pulled pork or BTL sandwiches with an Estrella beer, the lager of choice in Spain.

Solo Tapas’ concept is simple. You order at the counter and find a seat. The thing that stood out here was the bread. Supposedly the dough is flown in from Spain and made fresh daily. The bread was nearly perfect with a nice crunch & chewy texture. I tried the BLT, pulled pork, and a vegetarian. My favorite was the BLT. I loved the garlic spread! This is a spot to grab a quick bite during lunch or before a show at the Pantages. They also have a full bar/liquor license as well.

I like this place. My sister came here last year and has been telling me about it for awhile and we finally were able to go together today because there happened to also be a groupon deal for it. We were able to get $ 20 worth of food for $ 12(plus an additional 20% off with the groupon special now) — a pretty snazzy deal! We went around lunch time today, it wasn’t terribly crowded inside, there was just one person ordering food ahead of us and maybe 2 tables that were seated. We looked over the menu and asked a few questions about what the special sauce was etc… and we were just in time for their happy hour(apparently it’s only on Tuesdays?) which started at 12:30pm– perfect timing! Basically this meant we could get the mini sandwiches for $ 2 each(any type including the fancier ones). My sister and I each ordered 3 mini sandwiches, all wheat bread(love that option). I ordered the #21 Serrano Ham, Manchego Cheese and Salmorejo Sauce, the #23 Tortilla Espanola, chorizo and Salmorejo Sauce and the #8 Smoked Salmon and Olive Oil. I liked #21 and #23 the best, someone recommended #8 on the reviews but there wasn’t much happening in that sandwich so I didn’t find it very exciting. The Tortilla Espanola was nice because it was a little heartier than the other sandwiches. The bread was served nicely toasted(as requested by my sister) so it had a great crunch to it. All of our sandwiches were served with a side of evil potato chips. Since we also had some money left over with the groupon, I ordered an iced tea and my sister a large iced coffee(which ended up being cheaper than my iced tea what?) and a side of olives. All of that food and we only paid an extra $.38. Not too shabby! The bathroom was clean and they played random 90s music. Overall I liked my experience there and I think it has a lot to do with what time you go there– obviously don’t go during the rush before a show at the Pantages– you are setting yourself up for trouble folks. I would definitely stop back again, especially since it’s next to the metro and I may be starting to use it more often for work now :) Time to try their breakfast!

DONOTCOMEHERE!!! I cannot believe our experience!!! We met up with some friends after a party at ‘the W’ for the oscars. Our friends had leftovers that tasted like theee best phili-cheese-steak I have ever sampled. Seriously ALL our friends(8 people) ate, paid and left, my husband that placed an order 30+ mins ago and I were still waiting for our sandwich and fries, NEVERCAME!!! After approaching their staff again with our receipt in hand, they apologized and offered to make it togo. Uhm, NOTHANKS!!! are you kidding me??? I cannot wait to see this charge show up on our bill, as I will be irate. I am so completely irritated — and from the westside(probably not back on this side of town for months)!!! HOWHOWHOW in the world do they just forget an order of a sandwich and fries? SKIPTHEMALLTOGETHERANDHEADSOMEWHEREELSE!!! DONOTCOMEHERE!

Went before seeing Book of Morman. The food was very good, but the menu is a little confusing and the man who took our order explained it as if he didn’t understand it either. It was VERY crowded and felt a little hectic. Not that many vegetarian options either, but I didn’t factor that into the score. Just wanted people to know. :)

Came here after watching Book Of Mormon at the Pantages. I would probably like to give them 3.5 stars if I could. They had a late night happy hour which is pretty awesome. Montado sandwiches apparently are tiny little finger sandwiches, and they have a variety of them. I had a bite of the smoked salmon with olive oil. Plain, but good. Decent selection of beers. They had a couple of IPAs, but were out of one of them. I ended up getting the Union Jack IPA, which is one I happen to particularly like. Service was friendly and quick. This place isn’t amazing or anything, but it’s a great place to stop by for a quick bite and a good drink after a show at the Pantages.

What an awesome place to eat lunch! Not only all the food is freshly prepared but the portions vs prices are very generous for Hollywood area. For only $ 12 I got 3 mini sandwiches and fries. I was already full after my second sandwich. Overall the service lacked a bit as the our order got mixed up and our water refills had to be asked several times before they got done… But I will for sure go back there again. Plus it doesn’t hurt that I got 3 miles on my American Airlines rewards for every dollar I spent. PS. Pulled pork was and shredded chicken were my favorites!

This was very interesting… I came here with my friend who used to live in Spain. She didn’t think it was authentic but still thought it was good. It was a nice spot to eat at bc it was across from Pantages and it was affordable. We got a glass of house wind each. Imagine mini sandwiches. I got the chorizo(salami) and cheese kind, naked(deconstructed). Yum!

I ventured to Solo Tapas as part of a food tour and being that it was a new establishment in Hollywood, I was excited to try a few of their offerings. One might expect that they would serve a variety of tapas, but actually, the majority of the menu is dedicated to the montado. The montado is a spanish-style sandwich on a baguette that they apparently fly in from Seville daily. The menu boasts over 60 montados filled with combinations of meats, seafood, cheese, potatoes and sauces. We tried the chorizo and olive oil, tortilla with bacon and chicken with chipotle aioli. The baguettes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwiches took me back to my travels through Spain with the exception of the quality of some of the meat. If they season and cook the chicken, it would really elevate the sandwich and make the filling as good as the bread. This is a cute idea and if they focus as much on the ingredients as they do on the bread, this place could justify their prices and really do well.

A perfect lunch place for woman. Super small but tasty little sandwiches for 2 – 3 bucks. I would need about 10 –15 but most woman when they eat with their friends eat like birds anyway so they will love this place. The montados list is extensive and very intriguing and appetizing. I would like to try all of them. The small little morsel I had was delicious but not only was it small it was a double«wish sandwich»!!! Not only was it tiny it had nothing in it. Anyway I would go back just because it was so different and appealing.

Dropped in for lunch the other day to check the place out. it happened to be Tuesday when they have $ 2 specials on the montados. I thought, cool, an actual special. So we loaded up on 4 sandwiches and some sides that we thought looked interesting, thinking we’d have to roll ourselves out of the place when we were done. A couple of minutes later… It all came on one tray. I looked around, thinking there was another tray or something, but sure enough, there were 4 sandwiches there. I didn’t expect them to be only 4″ long(that’s what SHE said), with ½ a slice of protein/whatever inside. It’s about 90% bread. Oh, they came with salty chips, too. Speaking of bread, we chose whole wheat for some of the montados, and wasn’t aware that choosing whole wheat would have an additional cost until I glanced at the receipt. Really? It was clearly our first time there, that should have been something that the cashier should have mentioned. Pretty sure I didn’t see this on the menu, either. If it was there, it wasn’t apparent. There is a lot on their menu. Looking at some of the other reviews, a lot of them mention the service being poor. That wasn’t my experience this time; the staff was friendly and prompt with our orders. Sure, the concept is unique and they are in a prime location. However, it was the tray of lackluster sandwiches that will likely not see us back.

While they call it a tapas bar, the selection is somewhat limited. The vast majority of their menu are montados(small sandwiches). They have a large assortment of them. They also have about a dozen different sauces and all of the were quite tasty. They owner, Kye, was kind enough to send me a plate with all of their sauces so that I could sample them all… and I liked them all. I ordered a 4 montado platter… Tortilla(Spanish omelet), meatball, jamon & cheese, chorizo & cheese montados. The tortilla montado was a bit bland and I had eaten this one first… I wished I had gotten the sauces to dip the tortilla montado in. With the addition of the sauces, that made all the montados quite tasty. They have a pretty interesting concept restaurant here. First, they have a great location being right next to the Hollywood/Vine Metro Station and across the street from the Pantages theater. They have a LOT of montados to choose from. I’d say, too many at around 60 or more. Prices are quite reasonable starting at $ 2 each. It should prove popular for people on the go who just want to grab a quick bite or a drink. They also have a small outdoor dining area with a couple tables and FREEWIFI! We had a group of about 20 members of L.A. Foodies and their order/payment system is very Meetup group friendly. Each person orders at the counter and is given a number. A server will bring out your food/drink order to you and when you are ready to leave, you go to the register and pay individually. Works great for our group, no hassles with splitting the bill or squabbling over how much to tip. If you go with a few friends and place your order all together, that’s fine too then you will get one tab for your whole table. The management and staff were very friendly towards our group, as far as the food… I’d recommend getting rid of the potato chips and replace them with something cheap and healthy such as celery sticks and maybe a couple radishes because with the montados, you get plenty of proteins/carbs but not much veggies/greens. I’d also reduce the number of montado choices… it makes it harder for the patrons to decide what to order and slows down the ordering process. I’d also have a few daily special montados so when you get some great Spanish cheeses or ham, you can get us to order more of them.

My friend and I stumbled into Solo Tapas as we were looking for a place eat before heading to the Pantages. From the outside, Solo Tapas looks like a sports bar with a huge counter which I mistook as a bar and the televisions plastered on the walls. Looks are deceiving as I found out. The inside(although looks very bar type) is actually quite cozy. There are bar tables and booths to sit at to socialize with your party. My friend and I actually had a good conversation as we ate there. Thus, the noise level was not too loud and distracting. The service here is good. Our server was prompt to bring out our order with a smile. Doesn’t help to mention that our server was way cute too. Solo Tapas serves tapa sandwiches which you order at the counter(which I mistook as a bar) when you enter. There are tons of combinations to order from. We dined there on Tuesday and they had a promotion«$ 2 Tuesday» for any sandwich. The prices for the tapa sandwiches are slightly higher than $ 2. Just keep in mind that the sandwiches will be small. Overall, this was a welcome encounter in Hollywood
