South Willard

So i shopped online from this store from the east coast now living in LA I’ve been there twice and both times I bought quite a bit and with very little assistance or help from the staff. Last Sunday I went in for some Gitman shirts and I believe it was the owner in there talking to a couple that was visiting — maybe 20 mins went by and I had to walk up to him to ask for a size — and later it was equally disappointing checking out. he was so into his friends. I will just buy the Gitman Vintage shirts from Gitmans online shop and likewise my next pair of Quoddys.
NEVER AGAIN.

Rude and unwelcoming employees! I thought I would give this place a try a second time around, but was an even worse/​uncomfortable experience. There are other places who carry the same designers in Los Angeles with a better ambiance and vibe. This so called menswear enthusiast boutique shop needs to work on their customer skills and personal style How can you sell designers like Band of Outsiders and Gitman Vintage and not do their brand any justice. It’s a shame. I really wanted to like this store.

it’s on 3^rd St so the parking is street parking, but i usually find something close. it’s metered and is monitored so feed the meter.
it’s a small hip store that is curated because you don’t have time to figure out what is the coolest male clothes and haberdashery available from the u.s. in the u.s., which is what’s in there.
i bought a pair of dark green quoddy boat shoes that if i wear and don’t get a compliment, it’s a rare day. they are so super cool and the price wasn’t outrageous – reasonable for the rarity and quality. the leather is amazing. apparently, they are made at the last u.s. tannery in america.
the two guys that i have met that work there (david and the owner) are really really cool – none of that attitude you get at so many stores. these guys are down to earth and don’t pretend that they don’t know or can’t comprehend that $ 250 for an oxford button down is a lot of money. but, they can tell you why it’s $ 250.
the only thing i will note is that if you are big or tall, you might have a tough time with the shirts and pants. I’m 6’4″ 190 and they don’t have much that fits me, although they did have a size 13 shoe. this may have changed since i’ve been there several months ago. i do, however, think they can order just about whatever you need, and i believe they have a website where you can order too.
The gifts and curio that they have is the same as the clothes: curated, american, high quality, masculine, stylish. the kind of stuff you’d want someone to give you – books and wallets and beanies and things… south willard. i dig it.

I am glad my grandfather is dead. If he was alive he would want to steal my new Quoddy shoes I just bought from South Wilard.
This store is great (coolest shoes, best ceramics, nicest staff, greatest design, and smartest blog!). Since my grandfather is in fact dead, I will sprinkle some of his ashes on the floor next time I go. He would want it that way.

If your a menswear enthusiast, South Willard is a must visit in LA. A nice boutique that carries exclusive pieces of premium american made brands such as Band of Outsiders, Gitman Vintage, and Quoddy.

I went to South Willard to buy some shirts. The selection is great if you like Band of Outsiders, Gitman Bros. etc.
Service:
The guy at the counter was extremely helpful. He was not afraid to comment about fits and colors when asked. One of the Band of Outsiders shirts that I bought had a small defect in the collar. I brought the shirt back, but they didn’t have any more in my size. South Willard fixed the shirt, then send it to my house within 3 days! To me, that is fantastic customer service.
Price:
I went to Fred Segal to check out their selection of shirts. The same Band of Outsiders shirts that I bought at South Willard were $ 25 – 45 more at Fred Segal.
I plan to stop here first for all of my future seasonal shopping.

One of the greatest mens’ stores in LA, if you have the $$. If you don’t, figure things out and then come here and buy Band of Outsiders.

You are bound to fine some unique gifts at this eclectic shop.

Agree with everything else that has been said before, South Willard is an impeccable men’s store with a comfortable atmosphere.

I’m a mail order customer & huge fan of this little piece of heaven. I enjoy their easy to use website and blog. Ryan makes great picks for this store (including the all-​time best moc ever: the brown suede/​red sole Quoddy) and is always responsive when communicating via email. I look forward to visiting SW in person someday.

i really love this store. whenever i’m there, i feel like i’m somewhere special. they are very much my style (or at least what i aspire to), raf simons, band of outsiders, etc. and affordable during sale-​time. a lot of it can be found at barney’s, but i come here first. i’d rather support south willard.

Very nice store, VERY VERY VERY nice merchandise, if you want a truly unqiue and upscare Men’s boutique that carries nice merchandise this is one of the best. Raf Simons, APC Dries Van Noten, etc. Nice selection of modern and euro designers with a friendly layout. I haven’t really bought clothes here, but their ART BOOKS Are incredible! The owner Ryan is a very nice guy and from what I am told many celebrities, including BECK shop here! Check it out !

Nice store, extremely small though with a limited selection. Got some cool common projects for a good deal… hard to find them for me since I got big feet. oh yeah. dude working here is pretty helpful.

South Willard is a very special little shop.

This place had everything I was looking for! Unfortunately, not all of it was in my size. Although, I was able to buy some amazing Band of Outsiders pants, and the gentleman that was working there was very helpful and polite. Even though they did not have everything in my size, I have to say that this place is definitely my new favorite men’s clothing shop in Los Angeles.

They not only carry the best Designers, they have good taste so they select the best from each Collection. Great clothes, good music, helpful (and unassuming) staff and the best selection of books. APC, Band of Outsiders, Bless, Common Projects Patrik Ervell, Veronique Branquinho, Stefan Schneider, Raf Simons, South Willard and Tagbanger. The best Mens clothing shop in Los Angeles, period.
