Sushi is okay for the price. The workers are fast and acknowledge immediately which is the best part.

I came here a few times last year and never quite liked it. Today I took a chance and tried it again. Surprisingly is much better! Both rolls we ordered«crazy spicy tune» & «tnt roll» where amazing but what topped it was the order of «Hamachi Sashimi». The chef that made the difference is called Victor… Look for him!

This place is fantastic! I have lived in Los Feliz for almost 2 years and just finally went to Starfish! It’s definitely a kind of smallish restaurant that almost looks like a hole in the wall. Maybe that’s why I’ve passed by it for two years? But I was craving sushi and so we finally checked it out! I’m SO glad that we did! The servers were so friendly and attentive. Restaurant looked clean and everyone was smiling. We sat on the patio which is so fun in this area. Vermont is a fun street to people watch and hang out. I had a small dinner salad because I LOVE ginger dressing! And they had amazing ginger dressing! My husband and I got several rolls to split– the Rainbow Roll(amazing!), the Monster Roll of the tempura menu(my husband is obsessed with this!), and then one more roll off of the fresh menu. I think it was o’yshi? It was wrapped in cucumber instead of rice– anyway super good! I loved the food and the service. All of the things we ordered were so good! I’ve had sushi from Maia restaurant in West Hollywood and I think this sushi definitely is at the same level(if not better) and HALFTHEPRICE! Ambience could be a little better. I don’t know if it’s a super romantic date place. But just for your normal dinner out its great!

Always good. Never had a problem. Fair prices. Good service. One of my favorite sushi places in LA for ease and consistency. Nothing fancy but thats okay. Disco Shrimp Roll and Lemon Tail Roll are a must.

The 2016 Unilocal500, Review #157: The sushi here is great. The amount of rice that they give you underneath your fish it’s kind of tiny but, I do want to note that I don’t go to sushi restaurants to eat rice. So, I would like everyone to know that the width and thickness of the tuna was outstanding. I would go as far as to say it was sizable and the best found locally. Actual experiences: On my first visit the Sushi came out on small round white plates that were completely devoid of design or color splashes. On my second visit it came out on a wonderful platter. Keep in mind that I didn’t order a lot of sushi, just a few pieces of the three fish that I like the most. Well, I don’t know if they were out of those platters during my initial visit or perhaps the guy recognized me as a returning patron(it doesn’t matter)… but I do know that the sushi chefs are very personable and it was a pleasure to speak with the three that I spoken to in two visits. The wait staff however are bilingual to the point where communicating has to be done slowly. Anyone who has a problem with that, I think, is crazy. People who speak more than one language and are willing to ensure that your desired meal is as you like it, is a good thing. I’m appreciative of that. I come from a multilingual household and I was always taught to take the time to properly convey your intentions and to also take the time to absorb that your desire is understood. If you do this in life you will not have a problem… and in Starfish Sushi the same rules apply. Let’s fast-forward from my second visit to last night. I was in Hollywood, Los Feliz to be more exact. I’ve just come from dinner and I was walking up Vermont when I noticed… Wait for it… Wait for it… Another Starfish Sushi!!! You cannot imagine how thrilled I was to see that location. mainly because it’s right across from the place I like to go to all the time for music and drinks. They have the same menu… so please stay tuned I’m sure I will be reviewing that location shortly.

Starfish sushi has good sushi & it’s a good place to grab lunch or dinner. It’s a small place, & probably wouldn’t recommend meeting a huge group of friends here. Staff is friendly & restaurant has an A rating.

Best sushi ever. Sushi is my absolute fav, and I’m very critical with sushi and have tried just about every notable sushi spot in LA, and I always come back here. Just about every single item on thier menu is nothing short of DELICIOUS. Their dishes and rolls are well thought out, and you can tell they care about presentation. Their fish is always fresh, and high quality. You can just tell. Also, it’s the best value here. Their rolls are awesome and sooo much cheaper than other places over charging. Ordering thier sashimi salad for example for only $ 11 bucks, will get you A LOT of pieces of various tasty sashimi – you just can’t find deals like this anywhere else in LA! Their service is always quick, you can get in and out of here in 15 min. Friendly service always. I kinda wished they acknowledged and recognized us, since we come here like ALLTHETIME and give them tons of money… they don’t really but it’s ok haha. All of you people complaining about bad service are BRATS Came here prolly over 100 times and never have I had a bad experience. Will always be our number one sushi spot

Fist off the servers here needs to learn customer service, especially Helen! We have had Helen on one other visit a few weeks back and just thought Helen was maybe just having a bad day because of her attitude. But i guess not after tonights visit! We have been coming here for the past 2yrs and i have finally had the last draw tonight after my fiancé dealt with another rude behavior from the server. We on occasion have encountered a bit of not so nice or friendly waitresses here but have looked past it and have kept coming here because its close to our home. Customer service is everything when running a business, i know this personally as I am a business owner myself! We will not be coming here again.

A decent lunch spot for fast food sushi. Nothing to write home about but… the bento box, $ 12.50 for a choice of three items(I ordered chicken teriyaki, a crunch roll and a spicy tuna roll), was satisfying. A small bowl of miso soup preceded the bento box. The box itself included a side salad along with three items. The chicken teriyaki had a Yoshinoya like quality and was served with an ice cream scoop portion of white rice. The spicy tuna roll was of average quality, and the crunch roll was on the sweeter side due to the abundance of eel sauce. Nothing extraordinary really, except that there’s dedicated parking! As you head north on Vermont, look for the alley on the left just before the restaurant. It’s an entrance to a 15 car lot behind the place.

Lunch on Friday, 9÷25÷15 Having lunch a on really hot day. They have limited tables for large parties so the 4 of us sat outdoors. Service was alright where they came by to check on us every so often. It was just unbearably hot. I ordered the bento box with 2 items. It comes with miso soup and salad. My usual is to order California rolls because you can’t go wrong with that and also a teriyaki item. I decided on beef today. On another occasion, I’ve ordered the udon noodle soup. The food here is average. It’s not the best but it’s close by for a quick fix of Japanese food. I have yet to try the raw fish items and also their rolls.

Ok. So if Unilocal have an option of having a 0 star or a negative star i would. Me and my co workers went here for lunch. Ont get me wrong but the chefs in front of us are really nice and the person who’s taking our orders. It took them 30 mins to finish the orders. And so we decided to cbange it to go instead of eating there. Their freakin rude manager told us. That that is the FIRSTANDLASTTIME that they are gonna change it to go because THEYARELOOSINGCUSTOMERSANDTIPS. AREYOUFREAKINKIDDINGME??? You cant take pre orders as well and we were waiting for 30 minutes for them to get us our food, and giving us that kind of attitude i hope you have a good day! This is my first time here and definitely not gonna go back.

Sickening, unflattering LED lighting at the sushi bar eliminates any mood — like eating dinner under a fluorescent light. Steamed carrots tasted of soap. Yellowtail sashimi was cut poorly and had contained some inedible tissue in one corner of many pieces. My wine by the glass was under-poured. Bad vibes. This is the second time I’ve been disappointed. Will not go back.

I don’t know why I’ve never reviewed this place, since this is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. Every time when I think of having sushi, this is the place I think of. The must haves are ironically the Hungry roll and the Homeless roll. The miso soup is great as well. The prices are average but we’ll worth the price.

Aww, I kind of have a sweet spot for Starfish Sushi. I used to frequent their Miracle Mile location when I still ate fish, and there’s something warm and fuzzy about having a location just as close to my new home on the east side. Having said this, all my positive feelings are born from nostalgia. Now that I’m a veggie role connoisseur, I have to say, Starfish misses the mark. All their portions seem huge! We ordered a seaweed salad to share and two rolls each, and it was WAY too much. The seaweed salad went on forever, we never even saw the end of it. My avocado roll was fair, nothing wrong with it, but the veggie roll made me sad. Please don’t put lettuce in a veggie roll! It doesn’t make any sense and it doesn’t taste very good. I could only put up with a few bites. The roll was incredibly large and I just was not feeling it. Sam liked his rolls a lot, but even he couldn’t finish. While I was miffed that our dinner cost upwards of $ 50, it made sense considering the amount of food we were given per order. I think if I ever return, I’ll make due with the seaweed salad and avocado roll. Not exactly an exciting night on the town, but it can work.

I love eating lunch on the patio here. It’s a great neighborhood spot and very dog friendly. When I stop for lunch while walking the dog they always bring her a bowl with some water. They don’t have any happy hour here which is unusually for a sushi place in my experience however the convenient location makes up for it. The salmon sushi is always fresh and they bring it out very promptly. I also like their miso soup and have tried a few specialty rolls over the years.

I’ve been coming to this sushi spot since the Niko Niko days, since I worked right around the corner. A cute small Japanese Spot in the heart of Los Feliz. Upon my recent visit back to LA I had to go back here. I was a bit shocked to find that it’s no longer«Niko Niko», due to management change. However, decided to still try it out! Same atmosphere, same great low prices and same delicious, quality sushi food! I was not disappointed! Oh! And great service… I love this spot! So here’s the thing… their bento boxes here are the best I’ve ever had! And so much food that you can’t barely finish. This always causes an inner battle with me between deciding whether to get the bento box or their amazing rolls. Unable to help myself, end up getting both and sharing it with my husband and taking the left over at home! Problem solved :). My recommendations are: the bento box with my favorite crispy sesame chicken, sides of batter tempura shrimp and veggies and a roll of your choice(I usually get the shrimp tempura roll) in the 3 item combo and it’s super filling. Comes with a side of salad with delicious dressing and a cup of rice. As far as the rolls go, they have plenty to choose from, but one of my favorites are their TNT roll and the lobster tempura roll… ahhhh it’s so good! Overall, this place is still a winner and definitely worth the trip!
