NOTE! This is NOT a review for Suhrabal. It is the new location of Shik Do Rak(which used to be on Hoover & Olympic). Just went here tonight — it’s just as good as it was at the old location! Good food! Good service! Clean! Feed me more! FYI, the menu for some odd reason offers AYCE — but we were kindly told that Shik Do Rak doesn’t have AYCE(I think they’re using some old menus & are trying to get things set up). But that didn’t affect the quality of service & food.

3.5 stars but rounded up because you can’t really go wrong with kbbq. so all the extra stuff outta the way first: nice décor, $ 2 valet parking, hankook right across the street and paris baguette across the other street so super convenient! Service was pretty good and attentive because we went around 5 but once 7 rolled around… it was catastrophic. anything we needed took 15 minutes or more. my friend and i had finished around 7 but we didn’t leave till 7:45 because of the back of forth of the tab, as well as waiting and waiting for our cold noodles. which brings me to the food…(nice lead in huh?) the banchans were unimpressive. nothing was especially good or bad, although the kimchi and the spiced radish were standouts. i’d have given this maybe 2 stars. for the AYCE, they did butter our grill so for those of you who hate that, just tell them not to. whether or not they listen… well brush up on your korean. haha. Brisket: what you’d expect. quality not too high… and they give you TONS in relation to everything else but it’s pretty flavorful with sauce Pork Belly: only comes in one size so if you like it only thin sliced, you’re outta luck. this was okay as well. not particularly special. Beef Sirloin: these actually seemed like high quality beef. and i believe it was marinated so i definitely recommend this if you aren’t a purist. which brings me to… Marinated Beef Slices: this is the calbi and this was SUPER delicious. flavorful, tender, and relatively lean, this and the chicken made the difference between and 3 or 4 star rating Marinated Chicken: normally, i don’t like chicken cuz it dries out easily and it always sticks. this chicken did not stick and they used dark meat so it was really flavorful and moist. i’m not sure if they have white meat as an option and i didn’t ask cuz i’m a fatty and i like dark better anyways. The cold noodles at the end were super refreshing too and I loved the texture so yay! Oh, and it also comes with a steamed egg and some soy bean soup. the former was good, the latter needed rice. that’s all =)

Came here for lunch, I’ll give it a star for being cheap.($ 5−7pp) The food is very very mediocre. I had the cold buckwheat noodle soup which was alright and their bulgogi lunch combo which leaves alot to be desired. But for $ 7, can’t complain. You get what you pay for. NEXT

Life changing meal alert! — that belt is never going to fit around you on that same notch ever again! Like, I thought I liked Korean food and knew my way around it, but this place kicked the SH! T out of my favourite Korean place in Boston. I hear it’s slightly overpriced for the area, but I didn’t think $ 16.99 for the BBQ deal was all that pricy, given the sheer VOLUME of over-eating you are about to engage in – and I’m a *vegetarian* and didn’t even eat the BBQ. Warning — even if you are ordering an entrée that’s not BBQ, they typically require you to pay the price if you are sitting at the table — because you know, you’ll eat some. Which is OK with me because I get to uncomfortably stuff myself on all those fabulous sides, and then loosen my belt by one notch and ask for more. Uuuuoooohh. I got the kimchi chigae, which was _so_much more flavourful and just … made me feel so much more ALIVE than every other time I’ve had it – which made me really happy right then, but in retrospect, a little sad thinking about how I’ve been missing this hot-flashing, sweating, burning deliciousness for all my life. OHMYGOD.

I like Suhrabal more than Soot Bull Jeep. I had been a big fan of SBJ, but last few times they disappointed me. Suhrabal serves fresh meat and good banchan. Nice servers and good food! What else do you need? (Yes, they serve alcohol, too) I gained 3 pounds ^_^ Ha Ha.

Recently stopped by Suhrabal for some Galbi Ttang(Korean prime short rib soup). Sad to report, but their quality has still not improved as of late. I used to love this place, but now, it’s just so-so at best. Verdict: Galbi tang(prime short rib soup): a bit oily. Galbi chiim(braised short ribs): a bit too sweet. Banchan(side dishes): bleh. There are better places to go.

They recently changed to All you can eat BBQ. IMHO they have one of the best quality meats and expensive parts of meat. But They force you to eat cheap parts of meat. They just bring the cheap part with the parts that I order and put them in to grill at the same time. So no choice but to eat. They seriously need to change that attitude. And I got a feeling that they want to drive you out quickly. Lots of things to fix.

I like food from all different cultures, but Korean BBQ just might be my most favoritest ever! I may be partial because I’m Korean, but it’s just SOTASTY! Suhrabal isn’t the best KBBQ I’ve ever had, but they are right up there. Their meats were of higher quality than most places I’ve been to and their sides were just about as good as what my mom would make at home. In fact, I would say that their variety and quality of sides is one of the best that I’ve experienced at a KBBQ. I’ve had better KBBQ for around the same price, but you can’t go wrong with Suhrabal.

Suhrabal is the old KTown BBQ standby, kind of like your fallback date when your top choice is home sick with the flu. Speaking of the flu, did you know that soju tastes surprisingly like cough syrup and has more/less the same calming effects on your throat? But I digress. Sometimes a sick guy just needs an occasion to drink. The extended family ordered two medium orders for three(for 79.99 each) on Saturday night. The selection was nice and what stood out was the faux-kobe strips of beef and the large steak. I can’t say that it was particularly worth the price, but the presentation and service were well above average for a KTown joint. Overall, a decent place to get your recovery on via grilled cow and soju.

When I was desperately driving around K-town looking for some good korean food with a parking lot, I found Suhrabal. It was so crazy driving on Western!!! It was as if the positive messages that I was sending out to the universe worked, and all the signs lead me to Suhrabal! All I have to say was that I was pleasantly surprised by this place — the interior was a bit fancy, but the prices were more than reasonable! For lunch, I togo-ed three orders of yumminess(their special lunch combinations)!! The service was quick and they even offered me barley tea while I was waiting for my food. How sweet is that?! This only happens in Korean Restaurants! So, why was I looking for a Korean Restaurant in Ktown that had a parking lot? =Looks down sheepishly= … The truth is rather simple,… I was hungry and can’t parallel park. =(

This was my first experience at an authentic KBBQ and I thought it was darn interesting and tasty. I was with a group of 8 and we all let our host order, so I don’t know the exact dish names to reference. We had dumplings and a large pancake that reminded me of Japanese okonomiyaki. Both were good, A bowl of pickled salads over rice with beef was excellent. The shiny noodles with beef was also good. On the grill we had marinated beef which was the tastiest. Kolbi strip A-ok and pork belly delish. The pork strips were ok. The chicken flavor was boring. They serve rice wrappers that I understand not all KBBQ places offer, which were fun and yum. Before this place I had only enjoyed kim chee from a jar, but the kim chee here was the most delicious I ever tasted! Spicey, crip, and sour but the sweetness of the cabbage comes through. Truly amazing. I bored my dinner companions all night continually commenting on my amazement. My host had said this was his favorite KBBQ place, but some others at the table thought they’d had better. The difference they said was that not all our meats were marinaded. So for maximum flavor enjoyment, only order meats that are marinated. Also, those who were not blown away by this place were sitting at a gas grill, so be sure you have a table with a charcoal-fueled grill. Service was excellent(although it took a while to get additional shot glasses for scotch). I’ve been to Gyu Kaku in Bev Hills for the Japanese take on KBBQ that cost and arm and a leg, and there you have to cook the food yourself. Here, the waiter looks over your food until it’s ready to eat. And he always seemed to be right at the table when we needed more water or rice wrappers. For all the food we ate the total bill for 8 with alcohol came to a mere $ 200 before tip. The place was pretty empty on a Thursday night and valet parking was a bargain at $ 1.50. There’s a Boba Time across the street open until 11pm perfect for dessert if you have the room.

I’ve been to several different Korean BBQ places, but I had never tried this one. On this particular evening, my friend and I decided to build up an appetite so we decided to walk there. Luckily, it is within walking distance from my home. I like the look of the exterior, dark wood and some what contemporary in design. They have parking but only valet and very tight. Sorry not a fan of valet parking as they never seem to care about any car. The interior is fairly spacious and well lit though not as contemporary looking as the outside. The wait staff was very friendly and I love the tableside service bell. It’s always a pain to have to try to catch someone’s eye. They give you the option to cook at your table or to have the meal prepared and brought out. We opted for the latter since my friend had her daughter with her. The food was really good and we ate all of it. I’m giving it only 4 stars because although the food was good and the staff was friendly, the prices were no less than much nicer Korean BBQ places with more elegant ambiance.

i always wondered why this place looked always packed. and i will always wonder. because i don’t get it. The meat combo was MEH.(79.99 $ for steak, galbi, ahn chang, chadol, got sal) And so was the service. the meat quality was not that great. It wasn’t that fresh or red. Kinda dingy red/orangey color. They were too busy for our table. Had to ask for the bean paste stew ten times when they were the ones that asked if we wanted it with our meal or after. Well it didn’t matter that we wanted it with our meal because it came after we were done with our meat. They asked if we wanted one or two and I said two but we still got only one. I had to ask for water three times before I could get one refill. We asked 5 times for the salad before we never received it. Some waitress took our steamed egg custard from our big tray that they carry the banchan on(to bring to the table) and gave it to another table. Thus we didn’t get ours til way later. It wasn’t that good though. It was bland. We had two plates of rice paper but we ran out and she only brought us one as a refill. It was a very unpleasant experience. Here we were asking for simple things ten times, while another table had two servers attending to them! BS!

I actually have been here before and didnt go much cuz its more expensive and there are a lot of korean BBQ places around. But recently my friend told me their are having a sale on Cha Dol(thin beef) $ 7.99 and Sangupsal(sliced pork) $ 7.99 and best of all Soju is $ 5.99! Anyways. WEWENT, WEATE, WEGOTDRUNK!!! Woohoo!~ The side dishes are great and if you drink enough like us you can bean paste soup and egg thingy as service. We got it 4 times. LOL. It was about $ 20 a person including tip but we drank A LOT so im sure if it was anywhere else it would have came out more.

I’ll drive 40 miles just to get kalbi-jim, because, well, I have yet to find a place close to me that does it and does it well. But since few people are going to drive 40 miles to eat a stew of shortribs, dates, and chestnuts, let me, for the sake of the locals, vouch for their more familiar offerings. Their Kalbi barbecue is excellent! It’s not overly sweet, the meat is tender, and I like it that they have the ribs as big, fileted slabs, rather than«L.A.» style(across the bone). I don’t know, but it makes a huge difference in the taste. And any place that uses wood charcoal instead of a gas grill gets an extra point, automatically! Jap-chae(glass bean thread noodles) is always a good choice. They’re pretty liberal with their banchan(side dishes) and they give you the good stuff, like fish cake, dried anchovy, acorn jelly, and sundobu(a sort of tofu-shellfish bouillabaise). Not that friggin’ two-week-old potato salad that every other Korean place likes to throw on your table! Or maybe they ran out that night? So yeah, I like it. There’s nothing particularly mind-blowing about Korean food. It’s pretty straighforward. And definitely not like Woo Lae Oak – well, maybe, like the way it was, oh, 15 or 20 years ago?

There is nothing like Korean BBQ. Its the best thing ever. Especially in LA :) My family got our own private room– great service Endless side dishes, and yummy kalbi(short ribs), samgyupsahl(pork belly), & chadohlbehkgi(thin beef strips). Wrap that in some rice paper(dduk bosahm) or lettuce. HEAVEN. The place is spacious. They have koi fish swimming around in a pond by the en trace. & another fountain when you enter. Very clean establishment. Standing ovation. :)

My favorite Korean BBQ place. I’ve been a fan of Korean BBQ for 25 years. I’ve learned to make my own kim chee and cook KBBQ at home, but this place does it better than I can do myself or any other restaurant so far. The cuts of meat were superb, the cost though not cheap is quite reasonable. The bbq uses some sort of special briquettes but still gives a nice smoked flavor. The panchan was amazing. The place is very nice. I dined here a few days before the shooting and a few days after the incident. The second time, we dined in one of the private rooms which I didn’t like. I would much prefer to dine in the main restaurant in the future. But none the less, the food is amazing. I could go on and on, but my 5 star rating should speak for itself. Yes, I’ve been to Soot Bul Jeep, Park’s BBQ and dozens of other KBBQ places. Haven’t been to Chosan yet, but used to be a regular customer of the restaurant that was there before Chosan. 12⁄19: Went to Chosan for the lunch special. It was good, very good but to be fair, we had the lunch special which is cooked in the kitchen not at the grills so I cannot give a fair review of Chosan at this time.

I was craving for Korean food, and was searching on Unilocal Monday. And I found Suhrabal, after reading all the reviews. I picked Suhrabal to take my friend out for dinner. We both love it. I love their cold noodle. usually I only eat the spicy cold noodle without soup. but that night we had the beef could noodle with soup and is sooo good! Thanks for all the honest reviews. I am going to try the beef marrow soup tonight at «Han Bat Shullungtang» I will place another review there tonight. THis place has super good angus beef, no marination. but is great fresh meat. very tasty. Take my words and try this place!

I miss Suhrabal– delicious, wonderful Suhrabal. Since moving up to San Francisco(where Korean food is a sad disappointment), I have longed for their tender, flavorful Galbee and their refreshing, well-prepared selection of pan chan. Actually, my family doesn’t eat beef(so I never did) and it was the Galbee there that made me a red meat eater. That’s how good it is. Why is Korean food so expensive? No idea. Suhrabal makes me happy. I’ve never eaten anything bad there. The closest to bad is their seafood pancake, which isn’t bad, it’s just not spectacular. The great thing about Suhrabal is that I always have lots of food to take home after dinner there, so it’s like I’m paying for two meals. Extra yay. Oh, I forgot to mention, their Bibimbap is pretty tasty, too.
