One of the most bland burritos I’ve had to date. It’s a very boring burrito with rice, beans, meat, cilantro, onions, and(supposedly) salsa. They ask you about salsa(mild or hot) but I literally didn’t taste any salsa. The onions tasted a little crunchy, and the canitas was not shredded and was very dry and bland as well. It comes with a small handful of chips and salad as well, but there is no salsa or sauce for the chips(maybe you have to ask) and the salad is just a pile of lettuce. I had leftovers but I ended up just throwing it away because I didn’t want to eat it anymore. The positive is that despite being at the Farmer’s Market, they do accept credit cards(via Square).

There are two things I look forward to every Friday. JEANS and TACOS. Tacos Ocotlan has a stall outside of the Bank of America building in downtown LA for the Friday Farmer’s Market, and it’s been such a godsend. Delicious, juicy asada, al pastor, and pollo tacos, drenched in a spicy salsa with a formidable kick. My only knock would be that sometimes the meat can be dry and the sides can be salty. But you’d be hard pressed to find anything better on bunker hill.

For years, Thursday held no significant meaning for me or my coworkers. All that changed when we started going to Tacos Ocotlan at the Century City Farmer’s Market. Now, and forever more, we have abandoned the generic«Thursday» label and replaced it with the glory that can only be referred to as «Burrito Day.» It is the highlight of the week. The reason for getting out of bed in the morning. For only 7 bucks, you get a giant burrito stuffed to capacity. What more could an office worker want? Today is Burrito Day, and I’m 4 hours away. Time has never moved more slowly.

Straight out of East LA! Rather than making the trek to the other side of the tracks for lunch(and river in this case), I’m fortunate enough to have East LA come to me every Wednesday at the Farmers Market in Pershing Square. It’s great, no driving, not using my entire lunch break to get to and from — just a quick walk a few blocks from the office to bring back a hearty lunch. This Wednesday was no exception to calm my lunch hungers and I went for the 5 taco deal($ 7). These puppies are the real deal, street tacos loaded fat and wide the meats, cilantro, onions, and salsa. Here’s the run down: (2) Al pastor — The pork was soft & chewy, the pastor flavor was A+. (2) Asada — A moist beef consistency, not the best ever, but good enough. (1) Pollo — the chicken was bland and dry. Would pass in the future. This was the only taco that needed the salsa help it go down. As far as street food goes, these were pretty damn good. Considering that lunch at the Farmers Market will run you anywhere from $ 5 — $ 15 depending what food stand you’re at, $ 7 is well worth it. They advertise the chorizo and papas options on the banner/menu, however, each time I’ve come back to order, they never have either! One can only hope for the day that the chorizo & papas will make the trip to downtown.
