The cuts I get from Dorie are the best I’ve had. Her work is always efficient and looks great, and her space in Salon Republic has a nice vibe. The cuts grow out very nicely too — she really know what she’s doing. She’s very responsive when it comes to making appointments, and a great value for the price.

This place is great! Had long hair, knew I needed to cut it and wanted to keep some length, but wasn’t sure exactly what style I wanted. Dorie did a fantastic job! She pulled out the ipad and showed me a couple styles she though would work. Hair washed and cut in 35 min. I def recommend the green room. 1 of the best haircuts I’ve had!

I am a little upset… That I can’t give her 6 stars! Dorie did a fantastic job with my haircut. Not to mention super fast, I am always on the go. For someone to wash my hair and cut it within 40 minutes was great. She is very personable and professional. Her space is immaculate and very modern. I would recommend her to anyone. Cheers!

My haircut didn’t turn out great at all. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting, but it just kept growing out worse and worse and worse. I was going to give one star but the environment was nice and Dorie was nice. It’s been about two weeks since the haircut and after tonight’s shower and style, I just got so frustrated with how bad of a haircut it was that I had to write this review. I have thick hair, and I thought Dorie could figure it out, but it didn’t turn out that way, at all.

I am and always have been a snob when it comes to who cuts my hair. Dorie is hands down, the BEST male hairstylist in the LA area. This is a person who really knows what she’s doing! She listens and gives you the cut that you want (sometimes the cut that you wanted but didn’t even know you wanted), and her cuts LAST — she knows how your hair is going to grow out and cuts to accomodate that so your hair looks amazing well beyond where other cuts would have lost their shape. On top of being amazing, she’s a super sweet person — which is always great — and as others on here have mentioned, her accommodations are top-​notch! I won’t go anywhere else ever again. Since it was hard to find a good hair stylist in Downey (the one that actually was great went back to Argentina), I decided to look towards the west. After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I decided to try the Green Room a couple of weeks ago:
I was very happy with the results! Dorie does a great job cutting hair and she also recommended an awesome shampoo and conditioner.
This place definitely deserves the high ratings!

Wow! Dorie is really as great as the other reviews say! I have consistently seen excellent reviews for her in other places besides Unilocal as well. I have tried Rudy’s and Floyds many times and got a decent cut less than 50% off the time, usually requiring some kind of fix or re-​cut. There is a reason those places are $ 26 for a haircut… the are only good at one thing, a clipper cut, short and buzzed, no style. Dorie charges $ 55 which is very reasonable, especially considering her experience, her private salon (1 chair, 1 room, no obnoxious music or noise, and includes validated parking). The salon is relaxing, private, and comfortable, and Dorie has such great, positive energy, and she really works with you to understand what you want. Super happy with a perfect cut… great experience. Dorie, you have a new, very satisfied client!

Since I moved to LA I started going to a lady in Beverly Hills. She was ok, but for $ 65 I want to feel appreciated. Then I found Dorie. She is great! She listens to what you want, and gives you style tips as she cuts. Most importantly she appreciates your business and cut came out great. Very satisfied and will definitely return.

Dorie is fabulous. She is excellent with hair and has created a very friendly and comfortable environment in The Green Room at the Salon Republic. She responds quickly to phone calls for appointments and her haircuts are a great value for the quality.

I’d never been to a salon before to get my haircut, it was always the quick $ 10 haircuts for me. Well I decided it was time to get a haircut from a professional, so after a bit of research online I landed at The Green Room and couldn’t be happier. Dorie gave me a great haircut, and I got to drink beer and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm while doing it! ⁵⁄₅ I would HIGHLY recommend the Green Room for Men.

Dorie is awesome. I just moved into the area and was a bit hesitant in finding a new stylist as I had been with my stylist for 12 years. She’s got a great space, is very nice and accommodating, and very knowledgeable. She knows her stuff.
I would definitely say email her and book an appointment if you’re thinking about trying someone new or are new to the area.

Dorie is great. She listens carefully to what you want and has great ideas of her own. As others have mentioned– great perks like beverages, and movies to watch on a flat screen tv. If you want a great haircut, give her a call.

Make it short. Well not to short. Hmmm. Maybe… shit. I don’t know what I want. Make me look younger and good. Not gonna happen? Hasn’t happened? Well how about a haircut that doesn’t make me want to say my wasted cousin did it. Easy right. Not so easy. But now it can be…
I have bounced around tons of places over the years. Some good, some meh, some hide your head in the sand. Dorie is at the top of the food/​hair chain. She pretty much nailed it and made it look effortless (and feel effortless too!)
Found Dorie on Unilocal. (See it does work!) And she delivered a great cut, advice, conversation and ease that is pretty hard to find. Easy parking, private room (if you close the shade) amongst many other private rooms for personal care in the Chess & Burman Salons building.
Hey, and any woman who loves «family guy» gets my vote.
I’m not so sure Dorrie needs any more clients so I hope I have not ruined my chances of getting easy appointments next time. And there will be more next times.

Absolutely the best haircut I’ve ever gotten.
My hairline is receding, and that sucks, and I had a longish sort of scary looking mess on the top of my head. Dorie took the time to consult me on what I thought I wanted. Which I really didn’t know. So she cut it how she wanted and it totally worked. It looks the best it ever did. And I’ve been everywhere from the big shot salons in SOHO to supercuts.
Five minutes into the cut I figured, if this girl’s been cutting men’s hair (only men’s hair) for 12 years, then she knows more about my head than I do. Think Malcolm Gladwell here for a second, 12 years X 8hs a day = more than 10,000 hours. Dorie is an Outlier. That’s the person I want cutting my hair.
The place is actually an office space that was converted into like 50 private salon suites. So you don’t get overhear the gossip and glance around the room at all the other customers. You park in the lot and pull left into the valet. Parking cost a buck to valet.
Dorie is the proprietor of the green room and she’s tricked out her space with a flat TV, beverage fridge, she has a good selection of movies and TV shows to watch while you’re getting your trim.
The cut only cost $ 50. Yes that’s double what Floyds or Supercuts would charge, but it’s half of some of the other salons in BH. Whatever the cost it’s completely worth it. You’re really getting the best.
