It’s 1am. You’ve had a few drinks. You’re hungry, you’re tired. Who will help you? The Nacho Truck will. This is a great idea for a food truck, and the nachos are damn good. Better nachos than I could make on my own.

woah!!! nachos!!! Okay, I realize that nachos are not a meal, but the way this truck makes em they practically are. I visited this place parked outside my work and although they had vegetarian options on the menu the dude who was taking orders said he would make something extra vegetably for me. All the flavors worked well and the perfect amount of spice and sharpness. blue cheese/cheddar cheese, jalapenos, citrus sour cream… The most amazing thing is that they coat the bottom of your to go container with a soft tortilla, so all the fixings you miss become a delicious burrito/fajita thing at the end. Freaking amazing idea!!! Nachos, who knew.

I’m adjusting my score because this truck just doesn’t cover much ground very often. I’ve tried and tried to track them down and we never seem to be able to meet up anymore. More shifts or more trucks!

Home made tortilla chips are a plus but pretty much getting two for one deal is excellent. What am I talking about? Well the Friday Night Nacho in particular looks like a take on chili cheese nachos BUT what isn’t immediately recognized is that the layering at the very bottom of the tin pan is a tortilla! So you can scoop up the nacho filling with their chips and whatever is left can just be folded in the tortilla as either a soft taco or wrap it up as a burrito. Also their TNT sauce is not too shabby either. Me Like!

Tried the California Love nacho. When they handed it to me, it didn’t look like much. And probably wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew what it looked like. It tasted pretty fresh and healthier than traditional nachos. I don’t think the ingredients worked together very well. Mostly could only taste the sauce and beans. The deep fried flour tortillas that they use for chips is a nice twist, but wouldn’t order it again.

When I saw this truck, I had to check it out because I wanted to see their creativity and how they made their nachos unique. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Friday Night Lights is definitely worth ordering. Despite the $ 7 price tag for about 10 chips and a tortilla, the chili was VERY meaty and didn’t taste greasy like Tommy’s or other chili place. The Jalapenos were actually spicy and the cheese sauce was amazing. The tortilla chips were unique in that they were thicker than I was used to.

Pretty good, but definitely not worth the 40 minute wait outside in 90 degree heat. They make their own chips and individually place them into the bowl so it takes forever. Also, $ 1.50 extra for 10 small pieces of bacon bits is definitely not worth it.

I consider myself to be somewhat of a nacho connoisseur. I eat A LOT of nachos so when my friend said we should go to The Nacho Truck for lunch, I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Well, I was wrong. These were some of the best nachos I’ve ever had IF not the best. That’s saying something because I don’t take my nachos lightly. I had the California Love nachos, they were absolutely delicious. The best part is right when you think you’re done, you’ve run out of chips but there is still all that goodness that you’ll just now have to eat with a fork. Wrong! They put a tortilla on the bottom so you just wrap the rest up and have yourself a nice little burrito. Such a simple idea and yet it’s genius. From one nacho lover to another, it’d be a disservice to yourself not to go here.

So I’m on wilshire waiting and drop by ‘the mile’. Stop here and meet some cool outgoing guys. I order the chili cheese, salad… First ever appearently! They ask how it is, good but needs more sauce, no prob! He was cool and went light on purpose but happily added more. Add peppers and I’m a happy camper! Pretty good too! I’m not a salad guy, but not a chip guy either. Hey, something new a off the beaten path, wth! Only prob was dumbass verizon, took a couple tries to get card authed up but no biggie. It’s ashame I don’t come down here more or I’d be a avid customer! Sans one star for being on ‘the mile’ instead of ‘near me’…

For those of you who know me, I don’t run. There might be wild, rabid dogs, there might be armed robbers, there might be brain-desiring zombies or machete wielding murderers. I will walk briskly. I might bust out a power walk. I do not run. After searching the street of Granada Hills on First Friday, I was quite disappointed that the Nacho Truck was nowhere to be found. We had already eaten at Munchie Machine, driven a few blocks to the next series of trucks, and walked up and down past maybe 15 trucks. As we turned a corner, the beacon of cheese sauce sang to me! And I broke into a mini run(as it was nearly 10pm, when they were going to close up). Yes, boys and girls, I ran for nacho cheese sauce. It is my kryptonite. The guy taking our order was super cool and helped us figure out what to get, since they were out of some ingredients. As many have said, the large tins of nachos have a few number of homemade, thick tortilla chips, which are necessary to handle all the massive toppings with which they’re covered. Jim G. and I shared the Friday Night Lights(but with soyrizo since they were out of chili) and the Zeus. One of my favorite things was the fresh jalapneos on the FNL. None of these vinegar preserved peppers, but hot hot hot fresh jalapenos! I think the FNL is probably better with the chili, and I’d give that another go, but it was tasty with the soyrizo too. Couldn’t eat them all for sure! The Zeus was piled high with lamb and feta and a nice combo of textures and flavors. It served as a cooling mechanism to the hot hot hot jalapenos. I would prefer it with a bit less tzatziki, but it was tasty. Great service, tasty product, and it got a little run out of me! I’d say this truck is a great success =)

Stumbled on this lil gem upon leaving the Do Over on Sunday… and what a great drunk food! I soooooo enjoyed every delicious bite! Adam, you totally rocked and were a super sweetie, and I’d come back just to see your handsome face any day! The boys in the truck were super cool(and cute too!), and the service was exemplary! I love the tortilla at the bottom so that I can scoop up all the bits I missed which was super yummy! THEONLYREASON I WONTGIVEIT5STARS: I wish there were more chips! For $ 9, I feel like I was left saying, «dang, if I had more chips it’d be on!». That’s the cheapest part of the whole meal — more chips and I’ll feel like I wasn’t skated on the experience. Most of us are out here working for not much more than that an hour — I hate to think I just ate an hour of my life and came up short. My humble, but honest opinion! GOODLUCKFELLAS! You’re gonna make it in this town!!! :)

I’m torn on this truck. I thought the nachos were absolutely A-MAZ-ING; light, fluffy chips that were unlike anything I’ve ever tried, and a cavalcade of delicious toppings to boot! The service was super friendly, and I didn’t have to wait long for my food at all. But the prices are way too high given the portion sizes – I think I paid around $ 8 for my order and that was the cheapest thing on the menu!(I believe another reviewer mentioned paying roughly $ 1 a chip? Yikes!) I get that they’re using«premium ingredients» and what have you, but at the end of the day I’m still ordering bar food off of a truck – it should fill me up without busting my bank account. If they’d only drop the prices by a few bucks this could easily become one of my favorite trucks.

You can’t say that this truck is Nacho truck, because it’s totally cho truck for nachos! I have tried the Macho Nacho and I have to say, this truck beats the melted cheese out of it. While it’s not what you expect from a classic nacho plate, this has more connection to a classic Mexican joint nacho plate than anything else. I say that in the sense that they pile on just about everything. And even though they don’t have as many nachos chips per bowl, the nacho chips they use totally go with it. My biggest pet peeve about nachos is that after a bit of time all the gooey stuff literally destroys any ability to eat the nachos without a fork due to being completely soaked. In this one, the nacho chips are pretty tick with a good strength behind them so they’re able to handle the toppings. Well, they’re more like a dipping style with all the piled on goodness. Best of all is the tortilla on the bottom to pretty much leave no piece of food behind! How awesome is that? Basically this is the perfect nacho and while I didn’t think you could make a container you can practically eat, they have done the closest thing to that and brought joy to this street food eater’s life. While the prices may be a little up there for street food, the amount of food you’re getting more than justifies the price tag. You will not leave here feeling cheated or let down. You’re basically getting a burrito with the left overs after you’ve finished all your nacho chips. And believe me, there will be plenty of toppings to wrap up. This takes a different route than the yellow cheese and the stuff that goes on your nacho bowl really looks high end and far removed from what you would get from a 7 – 11 heated cheese version. Though you can get the yellow stuff, but it will come with a lot more toppings on it to make it proud of the street fusion title and has major creativity points going for it.

I spent $ 11 on an entrée that probably had no more than 10 or 12 nachos on it. That’s right; they charged me about a dollar a chip. Which is fine by me, because I drove away elated that I found what might be one of the best trucks yet. And it wasn’t about the 11 nachos chips. And some bonus carbs I will tease you about now but tell you about later. Since this is the nacho truck; let’s talk about these chips; these are nothing like the stuff you saw on the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Nothing like the chips and day-glo cheez with a «z» you see at Dodger Stadium, and nothing like they throw on the table at El Toritos, Acapulco or some other bastion of Mexi-Casu-Corp dining. These chips are triangular; textured more like an empanada than anything in the Frito-Lay family of products, and most of them had an empty pocket of air. Served plain as a snack, they might be a little better than«meh», but these are the perfect vessels to lift solid, well-made protein into your mouth. Things like Goat Cheese, Spicy Lamb, Olive Tapenade, Chick Peas, and Cucumber Yogurt. Before you stop and choose, let me point out that the Zeus, which was the dish I ordered contained all the goodies. And in big portions too! It was nice to find that they didn’t fill the foil bowl with nachos. It left more room for the other stuff. it was all hot and perfectly seasoned too. They have about 8 or so different condiments on the truck counter, and when I asked Adam, the front man which sauce he recommended; he suggested I try it first. I did, I liked and I passed on the add-ons. I was surprised to see a foil bowl; they essentially serve it in a pie tin. I am sure that the big Styrofoam Lobby would disagree, but to me this made perfect sense. What I didn’t know there was a surprise waiting for me under all that lamb and goat cheese. They line the bowl with a warm tortilla. That means that none of the other foods touch the tin. it keeps everything clean; keeps the fluids on the food, and best of all when you are mostly done, and the chips are gone; you don’t have the scrape up the last bits with your fork. You just roll up the tortilla and have a little burrito. This is a truck I am looking forward to trying again. I want to try the Flyover State, which is a dish with chili, bacon, baked beans, and bleu cheese crumbles. And when I return I am going to ask them why have chosen not to obey the wonderful new LA law that requires them to post a sign that tells people that THEREISNOSMOKINGWITHIN40FEETOF A FOODTRUCK. As this truck gets more and more popular, that sign will be more and more necessary Gourmet Food Truck #143 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in «So Cal»
