I’ll make a long story short: DONOTGOHERE unless you like finding extra $ 400 dollar charges on your debit card after you leave!!! The hotel admitted it was their server’s mistake but still haven’t refunded our money. This happened on June 4th and it is now June 22nd. We have talked to multiple people at the hotel who have assured us this would be taken care of in 1 – 2 business days, but nothing has happened. Disappointment is an understatement. I’m appalled at the lack of customer service we have received.

Its not what it used to be… twenty year olds make everything less appealing and more trashy. Great view maybe during the day time when the kids have school so you can enjoy being an adult

Lovely views. Chill music. Great rooftop! The watermelon margarita tasted really really funny because it was made with watermelon syrup and watermelon liqueur…(I was expecting pure watermelon juice infused margarita) so the bartender made me a new different drink. I’ve also had food here during happy hour, which wasn’t too bad. I think it’s a great spot for drinks after work, or for a night out! Can’t beat the view here!

I love this lounge — it’s probably one of my favorite ones in dtla bc of the view that you get. There’s a few seating areas, an awesome pool, and really cool red canopy chairs where you literally can lounge and sip a few cocktails while soaking in the dtla sights. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere to hang for a few and chill out

This place is simply spectacular, and anything less than a 5 star rating just wouldn’t be right. All my experiences here have been very positive, and I have no complaints whatsoever. With one of the best views in all of downtown, the rooftop of the standard does not disappoint. The prices here are very reasonable for what you get. With a full bar, wine selection, and various beers on tap, you will find what you want here. To boot, they have a Biergarten in the corner with a ping pong table, soft pretzels, and well, beer! Picnic tables line this area of the rooftop, which can also be host to a great time. Lots of comfortable, lounge-y, trendy seating in the main area make this a perfect place to relax on a weekend afternoon. Walk up to the pool, where there are giant, shaded water beds that are so comfortable, one might fall asleep! Bottom line, this place is awesome, and definitely one of my favorite spots in all of downtown. I highly recommend you go if you haven’t given this place a try yet. You won’t be disappointed. The ambiance simply cannot be beat. The people here are all friendly and easy to talk to. A perfect place to come with large groups, or individually.

Came here last night for the first time. The pictures of the view brought me here . But I wouldn’t come again . $ 20 to get in, which is fair if it’s where you want to spend your night The drinks were really bad. The counts were off and my whiskey sour was all sour and a small amount of liquor . So we decided to get a Moscow muel. Keep in mind all the drinks were in small plastic cups. The Moscow drink was not traditional and the had way too much ginger . The worst of all was the dJ. The music was unbearable. He played elevator music all night. Up beat elevator music. I was there 2 hours and he played about 4 songs with words or a beat you could dance to . He wasn’t taking requests or aware of his crowd . Also the people that worked there seemed real sad. The man at the elevator was bossy. I overheard a group next to me ask a worker to turn on the heat lamp and she barely acknowledged them and she didn’t attempt to help them stay warm . I would come back here if the music was at least better. But geez those drinks. I should of just got a beer after the whiskey sour . Save your time, find somewhere else

I’ve been coming to the rooftop at The Standard for like years…(I’m an oldie but a goodie!) and the first time you’re here, and it’s your first«dtla bar experience» it’s definitely appealing and pretty! So fast forward many years later and there are cover charges and lines like its some Vegas club but not at that level… it lost its appeal. So why the 4 stars? Because… don’t come on Fridays or Saturdays. My coworkers and I recently came on a Thursday night and bam, wristband needed but no line and no cover! We went up to the rooftop, found our couch seats with heat lamps and spent the rest of the night laughing, drinking and snacking on truffle fries! It never got too crowded in the seating area so if you’re looking to mingle, it best to be near the bar area. The servers walked around plenty enough but if you don’t find someone, you can order at the bar as well. Drinks though… were varied for myself and coworkers… some found it too light and some found it too strong but everyone is different so it’s ok. I ordered the Moscow Mule and I personally have had better at other places. The truffle fries were so yummy we ordered it twice! Overall, Thursday night is our go out night among my coworkers and I have to say… coming back to The Standard… the appeal of this place is like my first«dtla experience» all over again. Tips-there is the parking lot right next door for $ 10 or park at the hotel itself but I believe is $ 15 and valet. Always, you can park on the streets of dtla. Remember… wrist bands needed for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and I believe Sundays.

If you can hear good music pumping as you’re walking towards the hotel, you know it’s gonna be lit! — - a m b i a n c e — - I came on a Sunday afternoon and it was definitely an older crowd. There was a good mix of professionals talking business over a drink and those who want to come just to have a good time. Despite the crowd, the music really sets the tone. It was still pretty early so nothing too crazy yet while I was there. Once my lady friends and I got our drinks and found a seat we just did not shut up, so the music wasn’t exactly something I paid attention to after that. Also… there are a lot of seating but there are also a LOT of people. — - d r i n k s — - [ [ w a t e r m e l o n m a r g a r i t a ] ] I had just had their watermelon mimosa downstairs at The Restaurant and wanted to keep that watermelon flow so I went with the watermelon margarita and I really liked it! I personally am a salted rim kind of gal and this paired well. I wasn’t too sure if it would, so I was pleasantly surprised! Drinks here are definitely on the pricier side, but at least you get a nice view and a great dj! — - v i e w — - Wait…this is a rooftop bar… in LA… with a pool. Need I say more? The view is most definitely on point! I would definitely come back again. I can’t get enough of their view!

Came here on my last day in Socal on a Saturday night with a group of friends. We wanted to go somewhere quieter, where we can just sip on drinks and talk. We chose to come here and it was the perfect place! Cover charge was $ 20. There are two floors: The lower floor is like a club. It is dark and plays Top 40 music with a dance floor. What I like most about this is that they also have several pingpong tables. The paddles and pingpong balls glow in the dark, so it looks really cool if a game is going on. The rooftop is much more classy. There is a pool(which is closed), water beds(you can bring your drinks in but i don’t recommend), couches with a lounge area, heated lamps, and a beer garden. The view is also breathtaking because you can see the other tall buildings of Downtown Los Angeles. I would definitely come back to hang out or just grab drinks with a nice view.

This is for a SUNDAY because for a saturday or Friday they get 0.5 stars. View is awesome. can;t beat it, specially if you looked at the other buildings sometimes you’ll get a free show… or two… yeah ask me how I know. The beer garden is pretty cool as well. Oversized and quiet. Perfect date spot. Music is not that loud so conversations can happen. The other side with the couches is über comfy. Fell asleep for a few minutes in there. The pool area with the waterbeds is pretty awesome. Really like the vibe as long as all the douchebags and douchettes are home and not bothering me. drink prices are LA prices. Don;t expect an 8 dollar beer or cocktail. You pay prime for a prime location. Also parking… yeah…20 bucks if you valet. if not, good luck finding a spot.

Visit time: 12−3p on a Friday afternoon Service: great Crowd: not too packed My sister and I needed a place to chill. This was perfect, because not only was it not packed, but the people were very nice. The food was great, the drinks were made promptly, the water was warm and the music was soothing. Taught me that there’s still so much to learn about LA. Heads up: parking is max $ 20 and there was no cover on friday.

The best thing about this place is probably the people watching. I spent a lot of my summers drinking at the pool and it’s a great place to socialize. The drinks aren’t that great, the food is okay, the happy hour isn’t that cheap, and they could use more staff, especially during peak hours. There is ping pong in the biergarten, spacious seating, and heat lamps for those of us that can’t generate our own heat after sundown. The waterbeds are okay, but I’d rather bask in the sun when it’s available. Depending on the time of day, the pool area can be shaded by the surrounding buildings. Overall, not a bad place to hang out, people watch, and meet new friends.

«DON’T SITONTHOSEWATERBEDS,» my friend shouts across the bar, paranoid about the randos making out next to us. «JUSTENJOYTHEVIEW.» And so we do. This place is still crowded on a weekday night, maybe because there’s no cover. I grab a jasmine, he grabs a beer. The view is great, even with the glass barriers, and it’s much easier than I thought to find an open space, though it’s hard to get a pitcher of jasmine if we’re wandering around the astroturf. Per usual, a go-to for all your out of town friends.

Being that I work around this place it is always convenient to walk there and enjoy a drink or two. First off, for the amount of people that come to this place(it can get quite busy from 4pm and on) I think they are lacking some waitresses and waiters. Its not easy to flag one down and try to place an order. Obviously you do have the walk up bar option but even that is busy and well why walk up to the bar when if you have a table servers should be around to help you out anyways. This is the biggest issue I have with this place, overtime they have been changing menu items and happy hour menu for the better which is good. However its the service that still lacks a bit. This is definitely more of an «upscale» bar yet you can sometimes find people in pool attire because of their top-deck pool. I would still recommend this place if you have never been because the views are really great. The food and drinks are hit and miss at times but for the most part they are fair in taste. Prices are a bit higher than at some other places but not bad at all.

When we got there we had to pay a $ 20 fee to go up to the rooftop which isn’t the best but was worth going at least once. It was my 21st so it was a special event for my friends and I. It has amazing views and it has good service. The drinks were pricy but what can you expect at a rooftop bar in the middle of downtown! All around a good trip and would recommend it to people who are looking for a good time.

Most of my stars are going towards the waterbed pod things they got going on. If you and your crew can snag one of these things, DOIT. It’s a fun, intimate space to just chat with a drink in your hand, if you can manage to not spill it when climbing in! Hahaha Other than that, I don’t think the rooftop bar is anything too spectacular. The view isn’t as great as some other rooftops I’ve been to, and my moscow mule was served to me in a plastic glass… lol. And it was pretty pricey too! For how much they charge, I would think that they’d at least serve it in a proper glass. An upside to this place is that the rooftop is very spacious. It can definitely accommodate a lot of people, so if you’re traveling in a group, this may be a good place to hit up. Otherwise, I think there are plenty of other spots in LA for better or more affordable drinks and ambience that’s equally as nice.

Forget the Ace or Perch. The Standard in DTLA had the rooftop thang going on long before the others did. This is still one of my favorite bars in all of the city. And not just because one my favorite movies was filmed here(check out the profile to guess which one). I’ve been here during the day, late at night, on a weekend night, during office hours… and there has always been a day bed or lounge open and waiting for me. Loves. The views are beautiful at night and with the biergarten now, you can add delicious smells and good eats to it too. I came here recently on a Sunday fun-night and easily spent hours just hanging out by the pool and looking out at the buildings. Sigh. Oh DTLA, you get me every time.

I’m upstairs on the roof right now 10:19pm on a Saturday night. I hear there is a line around the building and it is so boring up here. Nobody up here, they checked my wrist band 3 times. Whatever the Standard was, it is the worst place to be in LA today.

Quick breakdown: Nice rooftop of the view of DTLA and a lot of room! Food is actually decent for its price since I ordered a burger. The bartenders really hook it up with the drinks even though they were pricey. Ordered myself Hennessy on the rocks and gave me an extra shot of it! more than twice. Great environment and a place where you should dress to casual or classy. Pros: Lots of space, drinks hook ups, nice environment, and great crowd. Cons: Valet parking or park across the street and cover is $ 20

Pretty sure this is the most negative experience I have ever had at a bar/lounge in my 8 years living in LA. My best friends fiancé booked a room and planned a party of about 10 of us at the rooftop bar. We order some food and drinks. And there it was a hard thick crunch in the cheese sandwich. That sure as hell looked like a tooth(We are all nurses. Trust us it was a tooth) I was disgusted, My friends mortified! We all freaked out. We asked to speak to the manger his name was Stan. He comes over and says«so you ladies having a good time?» Seriously!!! I showed him the tooth and he said he would fill out an incident report with security and get back to us. The waitress then came by and said«can I get U a round of drinks on the house?» Stan never followed up with us, security never came and asked us questions, I even asked for the manager again and was ignored. 1. We each payed $ 20 to get into this place 2. when we asked DJ if we can request a song for the birthday girl(trying desperately to recuperate the night) he said«I don’t take request» and never even looked up to acknowledge us. 3. Seriously a «round of drinks???» The managers Stans rude disregard was awful 4. To top insult to injury my bestiesfiancé was charged to his card drinks he never ordered 5. They already had room booked at the Standard. Pretty sure they spent a lot of money and the night went nothing like they imagined. This happened in November and I been so mortified and upset about the experience that I promised I would write a review! And yES I took pics of the TOoTh!

This Bar/restaurant is a good place to go just for the views of downtown you get. The drinks here can get a bit expensive, but for the views you get, it’s totally reasonable. They also have a pool and a live DJ with a dance floor. This place is more of a hyper bar with a lounge and club feel to it all put together. During the weekdays, there is no cover charge, but on the weekends, they charge at the door($ 20). I have never been on a weekend because of the $ 20 cover. If you live in Los Angeles, it might not be worth that much to go up. This is a place to have a drink or two and take some pictures of the downtown skyline. Good place to see at least once if you visiting Los Angeles at night.

Decent rooftop lounge with opportunities to improve the bars. Open space means lots of space for roaming. The Rooftop also shares the pool area so definitely no shortage of space. One side has a focus on beer and is laid out like a beer garden; they even serve beer boots, bratwursts, and pretzels. The other side is the pool side, and has loungers and waterbeds you can mope around on. The entire experience is flanked in a 360 degree view of the Los Angeles skyline. Definitely a unique experience. Would recommend this place during summers. The bars and drinks are nothing special in terms of quality or breadth of drinks.

I’ve never stayed at The Standard, but I used to frequent the rooftop on many a drinking/dancing occasion in my 20s. It was always a blast… the music was on point, the crowd was a good mix of professionals staying at the hotel, creative types out on the town looking for a good time, and tourists, and the drinks, well, they sure did flow and weren’t insanely overpriced, as one might expect. I only ever came with a lady posse, so getting in was rarely an issue unless there was a special event. I’ve been back a few times in my 30s and it has remained consistent in all of the above(minus the music last time, but luckily my gals and I were more interested in catching up than cutting a rug). It’s one of the best views in DTLA and those tear drop water bed lounge-y things always cause a chuckle fest if they’re free to bounce around in.

The Standard, just as expected, is high priced drinks($ 15-$ 17) & a place to say, «Yeah, I’ve been». FOOD/DRINKS: City lights will enhance any tastebuds. When you’re surrounded by the city at the top floor, a club sandwich w/sweet potato fries and champagne(classy combo right?) will always taste just a taaad bit better than a club sandwich from Denny’s. Am I right? Sliders were no better, ordinary. VENUE: Waterbeds were fun they’ll totally increase some tensions and attractions but also took an extra 5 seconds to get out of. Intimate lighting, tempting pool, & playful ping pong tables. Good hangout or date spot but over-priced. Heads up(s): — For those 60 degrees LA evenings, dress warm. The breeze can take over those lamp heaters. — Parking is by the back entrance of the hotel! It’s valet but they will occasionally allow for self-park. PRO-tip: If you wanna save a few bucks or treat your date to another drink without dying a little bit inside about the emptiness in your wallet, it’s okay to go to a prettier bar down below. Your date will still like you, I promise.

The Standard is my favorite roof top bar by far. This is mainly due to the crowd and atmosphere. It’s just very fun and lively and the people there are pretty fun and approachable I would say. There is a lot of seating, I usually just head for the water beds because it’s fun to talk to strangers while you’re really drunk on a water bed for some reason. There’s also a pool. No one really swims at night, except last time when this girl was swimming and she was super nice by the way. So don’t be shy, jump in! The drinks are fair. I’ve reached a good level there before without spending too much. Well. Now that I think of it it’s because someone bought the drinks lol. Ok, yes the drinks can be pricey. The view is alright. Nothing too special except for the DTLA streets. I believe there’s a cover fee on Fridays and Saturdays? I could totally be wrong, but I think it’s $ 20? So I usually just go on TU Thursday’s. In the end, this is a great roof top bar!

Beautiful rooftop décor and pool with a great view of downtown. I came around 1pm on a Monday afternoon so we practically had the whole place to ourselves minus a few other people. The red waterbeds are fun and a nice secluded comfy area to chill with friends. In terms of drinks, I only tried the bourbon lemonade which is pretty pricey($ 14) but I guess that’s expected of a rooftop bar in downtown LA. Nevertheless, the drink was really good! My only complaint is that parking sucks in downtown LA and they don’t validate. The parking lot for the standard is $ 20 so I recommend carpooling or über

If you’re looking for a place to wow your out of town friends, bring them here for the LA scene and ambiance. The line does get a bit ridiculous from time to time and be ready to dish out $ 20/each for cover when the moment is right. The pool area boasts great views of Downtown LA and the bier-garden is the nice touch of causal when you just want to throw back a cold one and have a good laugh. It’s a great trendy rooftop bar with pricey drinks but definitely a seen and be seen sort of venue. They do have summer pool parties on Sundays — so if your itching for that Vegas vibe without the long road trip there, I highly recommend checking them out!

The RUNDOWN~~ 12th floor rooftop view of the citibank, and other sky rise buildings facing the top, which is beautiful at night since they are all lit up. The DJ plays music that is not something you would groove to, and at times I asked around and the people didn’t want to dance to it leaving even less to the imagination if you are wondering,(I even heard something very native american that played… at least to my ear haha). The music is good background music, but I wouldn’t go here to dance and it was Halloween too so I don’t think it will get better. DRINKS — $ 8 for beers to $ 10 – 15 for average cocktails/margaritas etc with anything in-between that pricing. FOOD — None to see or speak of, eat before hand or smoke to kills the urge! SEATING — PLENTY! Plenty of little long rectangular ottoman size seats everywhere, I would ignore the«limited seating» people review, because there was also a «seating area» where it is decorated with grass looking hipster appeal with a ping-pong table to boot and it is more a bench area too! And to add to this there was 3 round water beds by the pool which is up a small set of stairs on the rooftop and seating by the restrooms. If anything I was standing to get my legs moving. PEOPLE/SINGLES: I would say decent, mostly young people around there 20’s — 30’s and some college clickish groups that were hard to talk too. Just so immature or random what they said… I felt gross haha. Talking to the women here is a chore, be confident! One just stopped talking to me because I didn’t get the hint she was from San Francisco, and attended crossfit there, she literally said«ok thanks bye now» and the couple next to me just stared at them with a dumbfounded look! that was so funny! There were a couple of EUROPEAN women, and I always suggest talking with them, since they go along with a conversation for longer than 5 minutes. I did however, meet a cool girl and we talked for awhile, so it had its moments and that made my night. WHY3STARS? — Great view but it loses its appeal after awhile. — Drinks are varied and the pool is nice to look at, nice ping-pong table and that is about the best things to do there. — Music wasn’t appealing, people were clickish and not friendly, a lot of beautiful women but very shallow minded in terms of conversations, don’t expect to hold one. — Appeal was Ikea like with a touch of modern simplicity and if you bring a friend or a group of girls then it may warrant a stay, going alone I would suggest just go once to check it out, but it won’t keep you there for long. — $ 20 cover charge is not worth it, way overpriced for what you get.

One of the coolest bars in town. What better way to relax on a evening with a gorgeous view from the downtown LA. No questions this is a young crowd. The bartenders make great drinks. They have a live DJ who plays great music. If you are coming here on the weekend this place is very busy. If you are a person who enjoys great views and excellent drinks then you will enjoy your time here. As we all know LA has a lot of bars. Not too many rooftop bars like the standard. The only negative can be the parking.

Oooooh to be young again! Or young at heart! Or just a person who appreciates adventure and vintage buildings of yesterday in Downtown — you have to be open and colorful to spice up your drabby boring life. I really liked going to the roof top here. I already did my review on the building and partial rooftop, so I’m pasting some of what was said there onto here and that’s it baby! Check it out, that’s all I can say. Went there a couple Fridays ago, walked by it for years and finally got an opportunity to go. Aside from hotel, hippity dippity feel definitely applies to the rooftop. This all being a week day experience. I doubt I’ll ever go there to party or nighttime life, because my body & energy level for that has expired and I turn into a pumpkin these days. If your young, then any night and weekends are more for you. I can’t imagine how awesome the views must be at night! Sadly, unless I can manage to go during a weeknight, I can imagine how crowded it gets, roomy as it is, on the rooftop — if your young and have a vibrant nightlife, I’m sure this is one of the popular stomping grounds to go to on the weekends. I went there during lunch and it was hot and humid, but even with that going on, it didn’t ruin the experience, just made us not want to go back to work. We had lunch up there, they start at 12 noon and our waitress was in a retro type outfit — it was fitting for the hotel’s theme and she was attentive. The lunch menu is small and mostly appetizer type meals and I think two choices for a sandwich(not just ordinary sandwiches either, they were good and filling). I can see people drinking here as it’s like a playground for adults who seek adventure being in downtown. We walked around and took selfies at the water bed lounges that somehow remind me of Arabian nights, flying carpets, you know that theme, but also replica’s of red Hershey kisses, picture three middle aged to later middle aged(whatever that means) old bitty’s playing around doing photos like kids! It was fun! The pool also to die for, especially with the DTLA sky & highrises as your views. The low lounge sofa/chairs were cozy, a rooftop would not be complete with bar and garden, just so much room to explore! So if you haven’t seen it, you must check it out. Even if your a person like me, at my age who doesn’t really do the nightlife, you can explore this during the day and still dig on it!!! But absolutely go to the rooftop, or you really didn’t fully experience it. Cellphone and/or camera and enthusiasm a must!

A bit pretentious and slow. It’s a lounge so don’t expect to rage. I’d be more excited about the ping pong tables on the second floor. The restaurant was so so and sort of disappointing. Waiter was slow, a glass almost hit my friends head from the top floor and just bc you eat at the restaurant does not mean you get to the lounge for free. It is also highly annoying that the line to go up to the lounge is huge and there is seriously like 30 people upstairs. How sad is it that they have to hold up the line to make it look like it’s packed and cracking upstairs. I am ok with happy hour on a weekday at this spot but probably wouldn’t bother again on a weekend.

It’s a real sausagefest at The Rooftop at The Standard, Downtown LA. Sausage served daily at the oktoberfest style beer garden on the rooftop that is! The Rooftop at The Standard, Downtown LA is one of my favorite spots in Downtown LA and a great place to hang out with friends or take guests to experience Downtown Los Angeles scenery and a taste of the club/party scene. The hotel itself has many cool pockets of side entertainment with ping pong, pool and foosball, and offers trendy ambiance and a hip, modern, remodeled hotel. The rooftop bar is the highlight of the hotel, with awesome Downtown LA views, cool amenities, waterbeds, lounge, dance floor, pool, bars, and even a German Beer Garden complete with German sausage and boot steins. If you get too messed up having fun on the rooftop, the hotel is also worth staying at and having breakfast at the restaurant downstairs is also worth having. Check out my other review on the Standard:

Very nice rooftop bar with relaxed ambiance and lots of options. Getting here involves a short escalator ride and then the elevators at the top(look for Obama playing ping pong) will take you to the roof. Pool is on the south side and they have towels and water for free. The waterbeds are limited(I saw three) so first come first served means comes early. Plenty of chairs though and most people just sit around the edge of the pool. There is also a little lawn area that is shady and has a mini German bar with foosball and ping pong. Drinks and food are a bit pricey but it’s a rooftop. Happy hour is cheap(7 for house) so 4 – 7 is a good time. Definitely a fun spot!

This is one of my favorite spots in all of LA county. Sitting atop the Standard hotel in downtown LA, it is just a short elevator up from the second floor of the lobby. To get in, you have to show your ID at the valet area. From there, take the escalator to the second floor, past the ping pong lounge, and the bouncer will direct you to the elevator. The bar is an awesome open-air experience. You can see the surrounding building as it adds an intimate touch. You have plenty of seating in plush comfy couches, a fireplace, a bar area, three pods with waterbeds, and the pool. Most definitely a must for a classy time out with your friends, or a place to impress your date. Come by and check it out. P. S. Dress for success.

If you know me, you also know that trendy clubs with inflated cover charges aren’t my typical scene. That’s why I’m happy to report that the Rooftop at the Standard is actually a lot of fun. Here’s the backstory: In the midst of my friend’s 30th birthday celebration, I suggested dropping by a pool party. The Standard was just a block away from where we were staying, so we sauntered over with nothing but our wallets, iPhones, and SPF50. Since I’m a cheapskate who hates cover charges, I called the Standard concierge, who promptly put us on the guestlist and waived the cover charges. Easy peasy. After cluelessly wandering around the lobby for a few minutes, we figured out that the line to enter was actually outside. At ~1pm, there were only about 15 people ahead of us, and we were quickly given wristbands and waved inside. We followed the rest of the people into an elevator, which whisked us away to the top floor. My first impression is that the place was simply stunning. The Rooftop has two levels — a lower level with a bar, and an upper level with the pool. Naturally, we ran straight up to the pool level, where we quickly laid claim to a bunch of neon orange chairs in a shaded patio-type area. It was a perfect vantage point to soak in a stunning panorama of downtown LA.(The most in-demand patches of poolside real estate were the weird red cabana/pod-things with waterbeds inside, but they’re mostly a gimmick and not especially comfortable-looking.) The day was glorious, and we were all in and out of the pool for something like 5 hours. The day *really* seemed to melt away once margaritas were in our hands… …and reminds me of the only things I disliked about the place: the drinks and service. I managed to flag down a server and order a margarita pitcher for our group, but it was laughably expensive and tasted syrupy-sweet. I also don’t understand why it took 30+ minutes for it to show up either.(Isn’t a pitcher just as easy to mix as a regular cocktail?) But, honestly, I can’t complain too much about the drinks and service, since we all legitimately had a lot of fun. By mid-afternoon, the placed was packed solid with impossibly gorgeous girls and boys(welcome to LA!), who were surprisingly friendly and outgoing. I didn’t feel any of the pretentious vibe that I’d been fearing. Now that I’ve cracked the code of how to put my qualms aside and love an LA pool party, I hope to be back to the Rooftop in the not-too-distant future. :-)

Having resided in DTLA, I’m no stranger to the pool(table) area located on the main level within the lounge area, yet yesterday was my first time coming up and making it to the actual rooftop and what can I say??? Checking that off of my bucket list and spoken with all overdue sarcasm, I really could’ve had a V8. I can’t say by ANYMEANS that I was blown the heck away by this place. Irene, our table server was amazing. Her recommendations alongside her customer service and sense of humor were notable and without a doubt, star worthy. Nothing we ordered(grilled cheese, club sandwich, fries, Mai tai’s, pineapple mojito’s, etc.) spoke to me as being groundbreaking; yet our bill was $ 50! Thereon, if you’ve seen one rooftop bar, you’ve seen them all as I see it. These days, my focus tends to waft away from the aesthetics and on to more intricate details if not discrepancies. I’m more so the type to question the white stains on the pillows and inquire on whether or not it’s due to DNA-filled yogurt or??? Truth be told, this entire rooftop could definitely benefit from a facelift; that and some bathroom Botox. It’s obvious they’re promoting and selling themselves by way of their name solely. Perhaps to those traveling from Fresno or… I dunno, Hemet or somewhere, this place serves as the very highlight of their otherwise hum drum existence. For those of us that have well… a higher«STANDARD», I’d emphatically recommend NOT traveling out of your way to come here by any means. The entire roof is unable to be accessed due to renovation work. In turn, theres no pool view and everything for the most part, is obstructed. There was also no bouncer on shift yesterday and I seriously only fathom a need for one at all — to prevent patrons from leaping from the rooftop itself to their immediate deaths, …in lieu of having to await the ONE retarded elevator that beared a mind all its own. Sadly, I’ll never get those moments I spent waiting back… Add to that ^^ the«open concept» of the wildly awkward restroom and I feel as if I’ve been violated… and not necessarily in a good way. Aside of there being NODOORS, there are NOBARRIERSINBETWEENURINALS. The result of this distasteful design are two ridiculously inebriated strangers gabbing all the while holding their schlongs as they partake in «Japanese swords» while pretending to compliment each other’s(…Uhm) …shoes. Standard design concept: Why don’t we add a handful more urinals and make it a TRUECOCKTAILPARTY guys??? No. Really… Washing your hands is even worse an experience as the semi-eclectic«could be» ultra-chic, EPICFAIL of a high end fixture is shared between both men AND women; reach too far to trigger the auto-sensor for water and you could find yourself making a new compadré…OR, catching a case of chlamydia. Seriously everyone. Mounting this thing another 6 inches down could’ve made this place all the more interesting!!! Hell. It might have afforded The Rooftop Bar another star or 2! — #shake-hands-with-the-President That stated, …STANDARD, my apologies, however mine seem to supersede your’s. And for crying out loud… fix that damned upside down sign!
