I was sick so I opted for a salad to get some greens in my system. The Italian Chop salad was spectacular. Well portioned and refreshing! Filled me up(and most salads do not) and gave me some energy for the rest of my day. I also got the special Tuscan latte which had rosemary and caramel. It was sweet– which I liked because I personally love my coffee sweet. The patio seating was nice. Perfect place for a lunch date. «Very LA», my friend said.

As a first timer, I have to say that the food was delicious. I ordered the turkey bahn mi sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of spice paired with refreshing vegetables, fresh bread and tasty turkey. I also ordered the chewy molasses cookie. That however wasn’t so chewy, more crunchy and was quite flat — appearance and taste wise. My friend ordered the Double B-LTA, which he can’t get enough of, and the latte, which was delicious and smooth. The restaurant is cafeteria style. You wait in line, which can be quite slow(maybe because it was lunch time?), order, pay, take a number and choose your table. The wait time was fast. Our orders came out within 10 mins of us ordering! Seating is perfect for LA weather. The outside area is perfect for a spring/summer day or a warm winter day. It’s an even better perk that the seating allows you have room for your pup. Overall, I’m a fan and will be coming back regularly.

Not really good for traditional brunch since they have a distinct breakfast and distinct lunch menu, even on a weekend. We got there around 12:45 when breakfast was already over, which is fine but I usually like brunch from 11−1ish. The line wrapped around the door but they were pretty quick to take orders. They have a huge outdoor seating area with heaters located on a busy but walkable street. I did not see a lot of huge tables for our group of 5 though, but in their defense the place was packed. I got the caramelized onion & bacon quiche and was sorely disappointment. It looks really good from the outside, but once you cut into it, there’s a weird, tasteless texture. It was like the outside was overcooked and the inside was barely cooked. It did pair nicely with the mixed greens which I was very thankful for since the crust on the quiche was dry and uninviting. I also tried the italian salad that my friend ordered, which was a huge plus point. It came in a GIANT bowl which is very exciting because I get really disappointed when I order a salad and get a grand total of 3 leaves on a tiny plate. I think I might give this place another try for lunch when I’m craving a salad, but I will not be coming back when I’m craving a traditional brunch.

Such a gem of a café located on La Brea. Food is delicious, tastes fresh and they have great baked goods. I come here all the time just to get the maple pecan granola for home, it’s amazing. Only reason I’m giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because of the lack of indoor seating area, which is useful on a cloudy or chilly day. Otherwise the outdoor death area is charming.

Was in the mood for a really good salad before heading to LACMA and my cousin recommend Sycamore Kitchen. It is located in between 2nd and 1st street on La Brea. I don’t know if they have parking, but there was plenty of metered parking around. It’s a bit south of the sugarFISH there. They have a pretty big patio area and a good sitting space inside. We opted for inside since we had a baby with us. You walk in, order, get a number and sit down. They bring your food to you. I ordered the Italian Chop Salad and it did not disappoint. The lemon vinaigrette paired nicely with the almonds, tomatoes, beets, chicken. The kale, cabbage and raddichio made it a very full salad. Just what I was looking for. My sister ordered the double BLTA and loved it. It’s a meaty dish. The only thing we didn’t like was the country bread(I hate country bread). My cousin ordered the Fattoush Salad. It was super light, tasty and healthy dish. The iced hibiscus tea was a little too sweet for my taste, but nothing a little water didn’t fix. Their other items look really good so I will have to come back to try that. Service was fine. No one is really serving you though. Just dropping off and cleaning up. 3 entrees, 2 teas, coke(mexican coke), and coffee came out to roughly $ 68. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Sycamore Kitchen — For breakfast I was torn between the«Scambled egg & Chorizo sandwich» and the«Cured Salmon tartine.» Went with the tartine but will be back for that Chorizo sandwich soon. I like their location and their staff is friendly and nice.

I thought this place was terrific. I met some friends for lunch and though there was a bit of a line ahead of us(maybe 15 people?), the cashiers kept things moving and we were quick to get to the register, and food came out fast, too. The food was AWESOME. I’d go back ANY time…

I finally got a chance to try this place for breakfast because I got up early enough! I came here on a Saturday around 10AM and this place was filled with people already. The line was out the door, but it only took 10 minutes to order. Once you walk in, there’s a display full of freshly baked pastries and desserts. I seriously wanted to try everything… but I held off on it! The pork belly hash comes with roasted peppers and onions, potatoes, spinach, and two sunny side up eggs. This dish was cooked and presented well, except the pork belly could’ve been more flavorful. The scrambled egg and chorizo sandwich was good only for the first couple of bites. This became heavy and oily, very quickly and I couldn’t finish it. I would avoid this if you want a light breakfast. The Salted Caramel Pecan Babka Roll deserves a 5⁄5 itself. It’s a decked out version of a cinnamon roll, so it’s obviously delicious. I recommend this for all you sweet tooth individuals out there! The staff are friendly and efficient. There’s metered parking on La Brea but I parked at the Ralphs a couple blocks away. It’s a nice walk for free parking :) Overall, I love their Babka Roll and was slightly disappointed with the breakfast items ordered. I recommend this place for breakfast as there’s delicious pastries and I loved the ambiance.

Salt Cure was closed for some reason, so my bf and I scrambled to find another brunch spot. Sycamore Kitchen was also on the LA Eater brunch hot spot list, so we came here. We arrived promptly at 11am on a Sunday morning, and parking was super easy on La Brea in the meters. Only $ 1/hr too(although only you can only pay for 1 hr at a time… bummer). Line was pretty short, only to the door. However, after about 10 – 15 minutes of waiting in line, the queue stretched down to the halfway point of the patio to the other property door. The line took a long time, considering that there were so few people in front of us. But only one cash register, which just slows everything down. The format of this restaurant is pretty much identical to Republique, if you’ve been there. You wait in long line, you get hungry waiting there, and there are pastries staring at you behind the beautiful glass, and you decide to order one in addition to what you originally saw on Unilocal. Then after you order, you sit down with your order. For 2 cold brew stumptowns, a Scrambled Egg-chorizo breakfast sandwich, the Jeruselum rice bowl, and the Salted Caramel Pecan Babka Roll, it only came out to $ 40 without tip, which seemed like a deal to me. Food took a little long to arrive — idk why they couldn’t just give us the cold brew and pastry right then and there, like Republique does. Maybe it takes longer, I don’t know, but it took about 10 mins for those«simple» items to arrive. We didn’t get our real food until 11:35am, but I don’t know how long we were actually waiting in the line to order our food. The scrambled-egg chorizo breakfast sandwich looked amazing in pictures, and tasted just as amazing as I had hoped!!! The eggs were perfectly fluffy, the chorizo was flavored just nicely(not too spicy, moist and not dry at all), and the bread was thick, soft, and only slightly crispy. It was an orgasm in my mouth — I’m glad I have a photo to remember it by!!! My bf got the Jerselum rice bowl, but instead of rice, it was lentils. I mean, overall the dish was pretty good, but… healthy, we decided. I guess this is a good dish to get if you are trying to stick with a healthy option. Good people watching here — I would keep getting distracted looking at people, and their cute dogs & puppies, and their cute babies. Beautiful weather, and beautiful lighting for food, and wonderful tasting food. I’d want to try their lunch sandwiches next time.

This place is the perfect morning chill spot. I came here in the AM with my friend and her dog. It was nice b/c they had an outdoor patio so the dog was no problem! Its not too packed and loud, perfect for morning chitchats with friends. They have a wide selection of pastries and baked goods which I was really tempted to just buy one of everything haha but I resisted. What I tried: Pork Belly Hash: Yummm. Don’t be deceived by the name, this isn’t a greasy, heavy meal at all! I really enjoyed it because it was savory and flavorful, yet light on the stomach. The pork belly were not big chunks, they were thin, and nicely crisp. Tossed with potatoes, spinach, and bell peppers, the flavors were very well balanced. AND it included not just 1… but 2 sunny side up eggs… yea. don’t even have to explain the yolk action that happens. Salted Caramel Pecan Babka Roll: So glad I was able to get one fresh out of the oven! Just visually and by the sound of its name, I was expecting a sugar overload. BUT to my surprise it’s not overly sweet at all! It’s purrrty damn good. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who comes to visit! It’s nutty, not too dense, warm and soft inside, with touch of crisp on the edges, so goood! Iced Cubano: sleep deprived me picked this one b/c I saw«quad shot» and needed to wake up! It was good, loved the hint of cinnamon you get after each sip. I would recommend this too someone who prefers their espresso on the fruitier side. I would describe this drink as lowkey strong because of the quad-shot, but tastes light and fruity and is lightly sweetened. Vanilla Latte: This is to die for. perfectly sweet and creamy, not heavy. it’s just amazing. get it. just get it. This place is keeper in my books. Love the ambiance. The staff are just so friendly and into the food as much as I am haha. Just a great place to spend your morning or afternoon.

I love the vibes at this place. Everyone is very friendly. I do with there were more tables; they have a lot, but for how popular they are, I wish they had more. I got the granola with yogurt. Their granola is delicious! My friend got the Jerusalem Bowl and loved it. We also got the Rice Krispy Cookie, Oatmeal Cookie(I think), and the PB& Chocolate cake. I was disappointed in both cookies. They were VERY hard. Barely was able to break a part off to eat. It was also very heavy on the butter; that was really the only thing I could taste. I’d go again to try their breakfast and other desserts that aren’t cookies.

I live in this neighborhood and have been here before, but it was a while. My friend Sonya was in town and wanted to meet up for brunch, so I suggested here. What a great decision! First off, when you arrive, there’s a large outdoor seating area, so you can enjoy the beautiful SoCal days. You file inside, alongside a very large and tasty display of desserts, and place your order there, then head outside for a seat. When your food is ready, they drop it by your table. My friend had already ordered, so I perused the table and then joined her. For a beverage, I opted for the Ginger Limeade, which was delicious! Highly recommend. She had the fried egg tartine — which is avocado hummus, arugula pesto, tomatoes, spinach, topped with a fried egg and I had the cured salmon tartine which is avocado, capers, hard cooked egg, radish, and crème fraiche along with cured salmon. I would recommend both of these! They were fantastic. I can’t wait to come back here and try one of the desserts as they also have a fully featured coffee bar. The salads also look amazing and I can’t wait to try those too.

I love this place. They have great food with great service. Almost everything on the menu is on the healthier end so it’s easy to come here and eat healthy food. You can’t go wrong with any of their salads. They’re all delicious. They have an outdoor seating area which is great for nice LA weather :) I also love their coffee which includes free refills! But be careful, it’s pretty strong

The cookies are SO good here! I came in for a quick sugar fix while shopping on La Brea and had some coffee and one of their rice crispie cookies, a mix of a chocolate chip cookie and rice crispie treats, it was so darn tasty, I could have eaten a few more. Coffee was also excellent quality and brewed perfectly. Service is super nice, they have a ton of outdoor seating and the space itself is minimalist but cool. Nice selection of pastries, both sweet and savory and a lunch/dinner menu as well. I will have to come back to try some of their real food next time, but the desserts alone are worth stopping in for! The validate parking in the lot behind the building for $ 1 an hour, otherwise $ 5, worth it!

Pretty solid brunch spot. I ordered the pork belly hash, and my friends ordered the salmon toast and the scrambled egg and chorizo sandwich. Each dish was flavorful and reasonably priced, and I was satisfied with our dishes. I really did like the indoor and outdoor space, and there was plenty of seating around 11AM on a Saturday morning. Pork belly hash: $ 11 + tax/tip = around $ 13 total. +Cool exposed brick and great indoor/outdoor seating +Flavorful dishes(Would recommend the pork belly hash and/or chorizo sandwich) +Outlets inside! Yasssss +Dog friendly +Reasonably priced –Parking sucked :((Street parking or meters) –Flies everywhere… obviously, this isn’t the restaurant’s fault but there were a lot of them around our food as we were eating outside so we eventually moved inside. Not a huge deal. –Food was good, but I’m not too sure that I would return unless I’m in the area and looking to try their pastries.

I came here for a quick lunch with a girl friend. The food is so good!!! I got the Bacon Mozzarella Sandwich(one of their specials of the day), and my friend got the BLTA. We swapped a small piece of our sandwich with one another. I also got a bag of their potato chips. My friend’s sandwich was delicious… but I’m so glad that I went with the special. The bread was fresh and delicious and it was toasted to buttery perfection. The mozzarella melted into the bacon, carmelized onions, and the greens in the most perfect way. You know… When you take a bite and the cheese follows your lips FOREVER~~~~ After my first bite, I instantly texted the hubby and told him that we have to come back here for breakfast. I can’t wait to go back!

Sycamore Kitchen is a solid 4 star brunch place. You’ll get what you’re looking for — satisfying food, a fun brunch experience, decent parking and a true LA vibe — and it’ll be a return-worthy spot for a Sunday brunch. The SK was a great brunch experience. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious with a large outdoor patio(dog friendly!). It’s busy and bustling on Sunday morning. Parking is not difficult since there are many metered spots available on La Brea. You will however wait in line for about 20 – 30 minutes to order. The menu is great with yummy brunch concoctions for both those with sweet teeth(also a well-stocked pastry display) and those who prefer the savory brunch route. My friend tried the mushroom and goat cheese quiche, which was tasty and a large slice that filled her up. I had the fried egg avocado spread toast(fancier word that I can’t remember) which was super tasty as well. I also highly recommend their peach pie for anyone who is a fan of either peaches or pie. SK will hit right in the mid-range for LA brunch — expect to pay $ 5 for orange juice and over $ 10 for any one of the brunch dishes.

Noobodyyy should walk out of this brunch spot without having had tried at least one of their pastries. I could care less for everything else. That’s not to say that their Jerusalem bowl wasn’t delicious, but just didn’t turn out to be my ideal bowl of morning fuel. If you love lentils, get it! I just found the dish to be bland, also lacking balance/too lentil-y, but nothing some copious splashes of Tabasco couldn’t jazz up. But the pastriesss! If the lines at Republique are too long during peak hours, just come here for your pastry fix. It’s right down the street, no more than three to four blocks away. — Savory tart with potatoes, bacon and cheddar cheese. Freshly toasted upon ordering. Delicious and flakyyy. — Plain kouign amann aka buttercup. It’s basically like a croissant with a sugary coating atop, also mindfully layered within. Both were so delicious that I picked up the same two during my second visit. Hoping to try Sycamore’s other bakery goods one day, but with Republique’s bountiful pastry line-up and delicious everything else, can’t say it’s going to be anytime soon. I’ll definitely have them in mind, though!

Ok so let’s talk salads because I’m on a health kick right now. I ordered their Mediterranean salad to go. This is hands down the BEST salad I have I ever had. Grilled chicken is tossed in with arugula and crunchy radicchio, kale, hazelnuts and blue cheese. For a little sweetness that in my opinion makes a good salad a delicious salad, they add chopped up dates. I am actually eating the leftovers and let’s just say that it keeps really well in the fridge for a few hours! They give red wine vinaigrette on the side. But you know a salad is really good when you hardly need to drizzle dressing on it. What I specially appreciate is that their takeout service is just as presentable as their dining service. Everything is biodegradable and they wrap the cutlery in a napkin. I don’t know any place that does that. After I ordered, I saw that they sell Stumptown coffee. And of course, I had to have it. All espressos double shots? Uh yes please! The latte is one of the best! Smooth and bold but it definitely doesn’t leave that bitter aftertaste. As far as desserts are concerned, I tried the ginger ale bread and lemon tart. I didn’t like either of those much. The bread could use a little spice. The flourless lemon tart is not a tart; it’s lemon curd spooned inside a cake sponge, not a shortbread crust. But I’ll come here for that Mediterranean salad any day! So basically 4 stars are for the salad and the latte.

I came here at 4:30 to try their pastries out and it is half off so why not! I thought the pastries were a little on the sweet side for my taste. Also the food seems a bit overpriced for what you get. I haven’t ordered any meal food but looking at the menu and seeing what people were receiving at tables near me… seemed overpriced. I am glad I tried this place out for their desserts and it was worth it with the 50% off discount. But I think I will go elsewhere for pastry goodies.
