Absolutely underwhelming and overheard worker tell someone who had some issues with her vaporizer some stuff that is just not correct. Nice person applied some attention to me related to e juice. Their selection is limited and priced really low so makes me wonder. Made me wonder more when we got into the details of the juice they sell. Not really having that easy feeling getting mine from there. So the star is for how nice the worker was. Walked out without a purchase.

Have gotten multiple bongs and pipes from this place and they always break. Splurged last night and bought a new bong. Got home, filled it with water, and it immediately started leaking water. Went back this morning and the lady said that everything is final sale and she wouldn’t replace. Basic Customer Service skills, that are usually common sense, don’t apply here. Eventually, after threatening the owner with legal action two times, they replaced the water pipe. Won’t ever go in this shop again.

Laid-back smoke shop offers tobacco, accessories & e-cigarette supplies, plus a smoking lounge. We come here to buy cigars to take home and smoke on the patio. They have a good selection. Staff are friendly and it’s close by so very convenient. Never a wait and it’s in and out. Haven’t really checked the entire store out because we come in after a night on the town. This place has awesome hours. Basically only closed for 3 hours some nights!

Super bummed to have to give this place a bad review but they have a really shady return policy:(I bought a disposable e-cigarette(only one option available here) and it was either really old or junk. I’ve used e-cigarettes in the past and I know they have way less exhale than regular cigarettes but this one had absolutely nothing. I also let friends try(2 non smokers and 2 smokers) and they confirmed there was nothing going on with this one. I went back the day after to exchange it for a new one thinking mine was defective and they wouldn’t honor it because I only bought it the day before. No such luck. Apparently you have to exchange it immediately after getting it or else your loss. Two days later the e-cig is flashing because it’s done. Took less drags off this than one regular cigarette. Also, cash only? Come on guys! There are plenty other shops in this area… go somewhere else!

I recommend you go anywhere but here. They sold me a vape juice and claimed it was a shop favorite. I bought it and tried it. It was absolutely disgusting. Rotten and rancid, gross! I brought it back and asked if I could get another bottle. They told me sorry, nothing we can do about it, with a smile that made me want to puke. I’m never going here again. I hope you don’t either.

Sells me a cracked hookah and I can’t get a replacement? Not a return — just a replacement for the base. I walked in the store and told them this was my first time buying a hookah so I needed a lot of help picking a hookah and everything and I trusted that I was sold a good product. Not going to lie, it smoked well but we noticed a wet spot while smoking it because of a crack. Its a white hookah so it was kind of hard to notice but i didn’t think it would be an issue to get another one. it was the first time we used it and the owner said he couldn’t help us. I suggest going to another place where you will get your money’s worth — and not broken product. nothing worse than a store without integrity

I don’t know what else I can do to ever get the money owed to me back from these people… sue them for $ 17? I went so far as to speak with their owner who said all transactions are videotaped and the cash register amount can be clearly monitored. That was two weeks ago. All I can tell you is if you shop here keep a close eye on the till amount and count your change because if there is an error, they feel the money is theirs to keep. Came there, made a cash purchase and realized I was overcharged $ 17 by a person who was later described as the owners daughter and then on another occasion the owners girlfriend. .Been in multiple times to rectify this situation and for some reason, no one can help me but her and its been impossible to find her there again. I think this company policy of theirs stinks and a month later, I am still owed this money. It has gone so far as another employee has given me her phone number, I have left a few text messages as she never answers and the answering system hasn’t been set up yet… and i have received no replies. So yeah… meh I have experienced much much better

They carry quite a selection of Nat Sherman brand cigarettes. I was having a hard time finding shops that carry the hint brown menthol ciggs. Small little hookah Lounge attached. Will return!

The only place in Dtla to get your smoking supplies. Laid back, no frills hookah lounge included — great for a chill Saturday night.

I go here a lot because they have the rolling tobacco I like. It’s almost always fresh, but one time it was so dry that it was basically unsmokeable, and they wouldn’t let me return it :/The people working there were sympathetic, but they said the owner doesn’t allow any refunds… ever! So that’s why I knocked a star off. I really like that they sell in whole dollars. I’ve always felt if I owned a shop I would do it that way. Just so much easier for the customers and when doing the accounting. I do wish they accepted credit cards, but paying in cash does make transactions quicker, and I always just wanna get in and out since I go there so much. It’s the only place I’ve seen the tobacco I like(Peter Stokebbye). To the person who gave only one star because they wouldn’t let you smoke right by the entrance, well. can you blame them? They don’t want to smell your cigarette smoke in there. And aren’t there laws in CA that say you can’t smoke within like 15 – 20 feet of a store entrance? I think you’re being unfair. In my experience the people there are always friendly and just want to help. Sometimes I smoke a cigarette there before I leave, and I stand a ways down from the entrance. They don’t seem to mind. It’s not really a café, so they don’t really have a seating area outside. If you want to sit down you should go into the hookah lounge(which I’ve never done because when I hookah I like to drink).

Don’t buy anything from this store and expect to enjoy your cigars/cigarettes right outside their seating area, because ITSNOTALLOWED. They will personally tell you that YOUHAVETOLEAVE after they kindly accept your business. This is discourteous if you ask me. Ill mannered service.

Another small store with an amazing selection. If you are into tobacco or e-cigarettes(hookas too), this is a place to check out. Very good prices on cigarettes(better than Rite-Aid or Walgreens) and it even has a smoke lounge. Helpful and friendly staff. I’ll be going back. This rating is based on one visit. Subsequent visits may raise or lower the rating. Update: I’ve been here a year now and this is where I go for e-cigarette and tobacco products. They have non-tobacco hookas(not water pipes gawd forbid) and even some decent cigars. They are so reasonable I really don’t like to go anywhere else. Thus the five stars.

I came in initialy looking for a replacement stems but apparently all hookahs are not created equal. I stayed away from hookah row downtown and decided on this place as they have both hookahs and tobacco. They also have a smoking lounge which is cool. I was attended to immediately when I walked in and the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. My only caveat is that they take cash only(as do most places downtown) and I wish their variety of hookah was a little bigger. Hightly recommend.

«No, I’ll be short.» Of $ 0.05 from the $ 3GRATITUITY the rude and unattentive worker charged herself. I’ve been here a few times and I’ve been pretty good with the place until today. *The hookah is pretty decent. I like the variety of brands and flavors. *the other workers are nicer and have a better personality. I never minded paying gratituity for their excellent service. BUT…the short dark haired girl at the counter with the bitchy attitude? I don’t want to give you $ 0.05 of my money, let alone $ 3 of «gratitude». I’m in customer service in downtown also, it does get tiring– but be professional and do your job right. If you’re doing it well, then no one would mind the gratituity.

This store has gone somewhat down hill because now the prices are too high!!! It used to be a 4.5 star store but I have rated it 3 not 4 stars because it was big enough of a difference for me to switch buying my brand name smoking accessory at a lesser price elsewhere. I think that this is a heavy 3 but I also find that a few products [not common] you asked for you didn’t stock. I would suggest catering to your customers inexpensive wants so that they make a habit of coming back like I was with 2 of my purchases. Best of luck!

decent prices with the 10% off Unilocal deal. Otherwise average. not the greatest selection of tobacco. More Fumari selection than most places i’ve gone to, which is why I come here. The dude working there isn’t very friendly though.

I wrote two, prior reviews of this place, and have to retract my last one that reversed my initial criticism of it. This place is just simply situated in the most political-thieves-neglected, dispiriting, filthy, foul-smelling, skid row area in America, and as such, not able to provide a relaxing atmosphere, with which to have a cigar or anything, unless your version of relaxation is having psychotic dope addicts panhandle you for money. I even suffered the outrage of one of these derelicts giving himself the license to hang outside, without buying anything, and spitting into the air, some of which landed on my gym bag. I let him know I did not approve. Fucking piece of shit that not even the most liberal of sensitivities should pity. You’ve given up on your life, fine. Don’t drag my ass down with you, when I am spending money to enjoy myself, and ask me to feed into your crack habit. I think part of the problem with Underground is that they create a «musical» environment(use of term is loose) that is exclusively rooted in gutteral, ear-jarring, hip-hop, and an emphasis on hookah and pipes, which go right into the doper genre more than a Mexican Federali sting. Then, regarding the personally relevant, we get to the ridiculous, paradoxical pretense of an elite, high-end, cigar shop, achieved by overcharging for everything from the lowliest Fuente, of 8 dollars(normally around 3 or 4), to Olivas and what-not, which are priced a dollar above even a place like 2nd Street Cigars that is in a better DTLA neighborhood, with an actual, decent size selection and humidor, and enjoyable events, like the Art Walk and cigar tastings and sports. That’s another thing. Dudes, how many years does it take you to get television reception that doesn’t disintegrate into a mosaic pattern, as well as over getting burned by a credit card company, to the point where you grant your customers that facility. PALEEEEEEEASE! Also, your staff should actually KNOW something about cigars, including what justifies such huge prices.

The UnderGround Smoke Shop’s got lots of great smoking gear right off the beaten path. Where else can you find a hookah for $ 20? Service is great, but the shop itself is downright tiny and it’s cash-only. If you can get a spot outside, more power to ya, but may the gods be with you in your quest for an open table.

One of the rare places open on Xmas Eve in downtown. The seating area is small; so if it’s busy you may be sitting close to another party(not a place for anti-social types) The staff here is super friendly. Never crowded when I go. And the BYOB policy is awesome! My hookah experience is limited; I’ve had better. But USS easily has become a fave downtown haunt.

If you’re like me, then you want nothing more than to sit outside on the sidewalk with a hookah and a glass of water/mint tea on a weekday evening while staring at the people on the street. Ah the simple blessings of life. This place is perfect for partaking in said activity. The first time I came here, we stumbled upon it by accident and I was thrilled. They have FRUIT hookahs, which means they stick a whole fruit on top of the hookah to flavor it naturally, and it was the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. The experience was amazing. I had heart palpitations(though that was probably from the 5 redbull vodkas earlier in the day). The second time I came here we got a regular hookah, which came with a drink and I had a really yummy juice. The regular hookah was great too and they were really nice about changing the coals. Unfortunately, someone started smoking a cigar inside the shop so we moved outside even though it was a little cold. Price was around $ 15 to $ 20 per hookah. No alcohol but you can BYOB. Service is friendly. Lots of crazy people coming in and out of the place or walking by, since it’s 6th and Spring, so that will keep your attention occupied. My head spun from getting jerked around staring at all the fascinating people. Or if all else fails, you could even consider talking to the person you came with. The downside: bathroom was disgusting. No soap. Barely any TP, and just not well-maintained. You know it’s nasty when I complain, b/c I endured literal shitholes in India/China for a year. It’s not as bad as those ones. But this is not India.
