Real wagyu beef! You can’t get that hardly anywhere in LA. And authentic sukiyaki that was to die for! Love this place!

The sushi here is amazing and best of all the wagyu beef is unreal. Melts in your mouth. We had the following: wagyu beef salad, sashimi platter, assorted sushi dishes and more. On the westside the sushi is one of the best. Hands down. You can’t go wrong here. If you can sit at the bar and ask for Masa, best sushi maker/chef in LA. I hope you enjoy this meal as much as we did. Please take a look at the pics. Presentation is key.

Don’t know why this place has lower than expected ratings. Maybe the name of the restaurant is just too darn long and hard to say. Free parking in the Westside Pavilion parking garage adjacent to the restaurant. I had the Wagyu steak which was actually from Japan unlike other restaurants that claim to have Wagyu but really they don’t. The words Wagyu and Kobe needs some sort of certification standard in the US similar to the word«organic». I digress. Great quality here for the price point. I also had the Sukiyaki bowl which was pretty good. Come here when looking for convenient parking and comforting your Japanese fix.

SCRUMPTIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSALERT!!! Rice Versa Teriyaki brown rice burger with Sukiyaki Wagyu Beef, pickled onion gobo roots, fried egg! Whew that was a mouthful literally and figuratively lol! I only could remember all that, because I so thoroughly enjoyed this dish that I took home a flyer for their upcoming meal specials, which this treasure is taking part in! Now I would say most of the time Beef for me is played out, but this particular beef prepared this particular way was just melt in your mouth, super scrumptious tingly alert going off in every crevice of my mouth delectable! Alll that yumminess was encased in between two pieces of Brown rice patty(in lieu of bread). This was the first time I had brown rice, that I thought was of my beloved delicious white rice variety. Low and behold BROWNRICETHATTASTESGOOD lol, now I hope you health nuts don’t go crazy on me! I discovered that those patties are a new product coming to a Whole foods near you! I also partook in some salmon and avocado dishes and their green tea ice cream, all of which lit up that special happy place reserved only for delectable occurrences of the utmost importance! I enjoyed my meal so much, I found the Chef and told him as much! The chef was a sweet and humble artist and I can’t wait to go back and have another go of scrumptious firecrackers in my mouth!

FREE3 hr PARKING in the structure next to the restaurant! We made a couple circles before we realized that there were free parking right next to the structure which was super happy surprise as it is unheard of in LA ! My boyfriend and some friends was shopping in the mall upstairs and was hungry for some Japanese food and decided to check out Wadatsumi since it was right down stairs. Adorable Authentic Japanese restaurant with a wonderful staff. My boyfriend and friends decided they wanted to try the Wagyu rice burger as they had a special for $ 39 right now and the chef even created a vegetarian special for me which was a super nice touch! I also got the Avocado rice patty dish by Rice Versa and My Gosh It was delicious ! At the end of everything we also had green tea ice cream to share and it was AMAZING!!! I love green tea everything and this was not too sweet which is perfect for me! Overall bill was not off the chart and worth a gander!

The food was amazing and the happy hour list has great hits! I tried the zabuton steak, karaage(happy hour), lemon breeze roll(happy hour), cali roll(happy hour), halibut tempura roll(happy hour), spicy tuna on crispy rice, hitsuma-bushi(signature dish), & dessert(homemade ice cream assortment of green tea, black sesame, and brown sugar vanilla)(+ maple custard pudding) Everything was mouth watering and the employees were super sweet and hospitable. They have a nice jazz playlist in the background and a T. V playing sports. The interior is very beautifully decorated and there are different things to acknowledge and art pieces to take a peek at. I definitely want to try the sukiyaki plus other specials on the«specials» list like the fish carpaccios. also. THEHITSUMABUSHIWASONEOFMYFAVORITESAND I MAYHAVETOCOMEBACKTOHAVEIT!!!(I understand why it’s a SIGNATURE dish.) the meat is so tasteful and tender and the combination of the beef, rice, and soup is just perfect. So I definitely recommend this place for a nice lunch or dinner.(& I did go for lunch & they have a special lunch menu that has different lunch sets for a reasonable price.)

This place was pretty good. Unlike some places on the west side, it is not annoyingly packed. There is street parking around but maybe I just got lucky. Went for Dine LA. Serving sizes are huge and the food is baller. Got the Chirashi bowl and a sukiyaki. Chirashi bowl was large and in charge. Fish is excellent here. Would probably recommend getting fish or wagyu beef vs. a sukiyaki or other hot item. Will definitely want to check their happy hour. Would definitely recommend people check this place out.

This is a Dine LA review! Overall: Wadatsumi surprisingly serves up both good raw and cooked dishes. Their portions seem decent for the price, at least in the Dine LA menu. I definitely recommend it as a good way to introduce people to wagyu beef. Food: 4 Roasted Wagyu Beef: The portion was decent, but the quality wasn’t the best(according to my friend). It wasn’t cut properly into perfect slices, but the meat was tender. Halibut Carpaccio was well balanced. Wasabi gave it a little bit of heat, but it was still might and refreshing. Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki Rice Bowl included a soft egg on top. I actually really enjoyed this dish. It’s like comfort food. The beef was tender, the onions were sweet, and the egg was perfectly cooked. Mixed Sashimi Poke Rice Bowl with Udon Noodle Soup: The rice bowl was well seasoned, and the fish was fresh. The udon was decent, and the broth was well balanced. Uni Tofu with Sea Urchin Sauce was NOT a part of Dine LA. We ordered it as a supplemental dish from the regular menu. This is a wonderful dish if you’re a big fan of uni. The tofu is homemade and soft, but not as silken and smooth as I would have liked. However, the texture does complement the uni well. I also like that they use real wasabi! Service: 4.5 The staff was polite, but it felt like they were a little short staffed because our waitress was running everywhere throughout the restaurant. As a result, it was sometimes a little hard to get her attention, but she was doing her best to keep an eye on our table. However, she was extremely nice and unwaveringly polite. Ambiance: 4 I really liked the décor of the restaurant. It was a balance between the traditional and modern, and the tables weren’t spaced too close together. I do feel like it might be hard to find parking unless you park in the Pavilion.

It is literally right next to Westside Pavilion. We parked next door for 3 free hours. We were drawn here during DineLA for its extensive 4 course meal dinner menu(okay it’s really three course + amuse, but I count it as 4) at $ 39. They offer sushi and beef, so pick a variety if you do multiple courses, otherwise you’d get sick of either too much raw fish or too much meat. Thus, I picked raw fish for my amuse and appetizer, and beef for the main dish. I have to admit it was hard picking between the beef or the chirashi bowl, but I ended up not regretting my choices in the end! I had a very refreshing, but slightly heavy on flavor mixed sashimi poke salad for the amuse. Since it’s an amuse, it was a mini portion, enough for two big bites if you wanted to speed up the rate of your consumption. No problem with the size, since I still had the appetizer, entrée and dessert coming up! My appetizer was the halibut carpaccio, which came in 4 pieces, prepared with yuzu and white truffle salt. Delicious, but 1 – 2 pieces were a bit chewy. My main course came on a tray, with the sliced charbroiled wagyu beef with sweet soy sauce broth sitting on top of brown rice(choice of brown or white rice) in a bowl, next to a tray of three toppings(wasabi, nori, and something else I forgot) and the Dashi broth in a small black kettle. This was the wagyu beef hitsumabushi. The broth pours out clear, looking almost like hot water, but with a slight taste to it, though not rich enough as chicken broth. You pour this into your bowl, which would’ve had the toppings mixed in with the beef and rice, and you pour as much of the broth as you prefer. It was good, but I wish the beef wasn’t as chewy and fatty as it was(about 50% of the beef in my bowl). The entrée looked like a lot, but I was able to finish it with no problem. I also had some broth left over, which I poured into the now empty bowl to finish as regular soup. Dessert was today’s homemade ice cream and after they had cleared our table, we speculated what the flavor may be. Would it be the standard green tea found in most Japanese restaurants? Or maybe they’ve gone creative and offered lychee or cherry blossom? Obviously we didn’t look too much at their main menu since that menu did list the available ice cream flavors of green tea, mocha black sesame, and Okinawa brown sugar vanilla. They brought us Okinawa brown sugar vanilla ice cream. Man was it good. Sure, some may find it sweet at the end, but it was a flavor I’ve never had and it was a sweet ending to a good meal. Oh yeah, I wanted to try their lychee lemonade with real pulp, which was the only unusual sounding item in their soft drinks section of the menu, but they were all out, phooey. =/ Service was okay. We were seated towards the back, in a partially sectioned off spot, so it may have been easy for the servers to not easily see if we needed anything. Appreciate that they were able to take three separate credit cards for our bill. Thank you Wadatsumi for providing our group with a very good reason to make the drive out from all parts of LA to catch up with one another!

Dinela Restaurant Week hit #1 Wagyu, how could I refuse my tummy this pleasure? Came here for lunch and service was polite and speedy. I think she knew I was on a schedule. I was a bit bummed to find out that their happy hour food items, drink items still applied, weren’t available during restaurant week =(But good thing they weren’t, I was much too full by the end of the meal. –Roasted wagyu beef(2oz): This was okay. The beef was sliced thinly on top of some lettuce and dressed with a tangy sauce. The beef tasted boiled, it was a bit bland for me. –Yellowtail carpaccio: Standard. –Sukiyaki: Oh man was this delicious =d Just enough sweetness and the beef melted in my mouth =d So good! I will warn you though, I felt very heavy after eating this because I ordered both wagyu options for my 2 courses. My friend felt it was a fish overload since she ordered both fish options for her 2 courses. So, the lesson is… MIXITUP! ;D

I’ve been wanting to come and try this place out for a long time and thanks to all the DineLa ads, I decided to check it out before DineLa week where it gets really crazy. I had the Omakase dinner and everything I had was amazing. Portions are large and can definitely be shared with one more person, or maybe I am just really a light eater and am used to the traditional omakase dinner that is a bite or 2 and definitely just to give you enough taste of what the chef is trying to achieve but I am not complaining, its just that its a different kind of Omakase. We also ordered on the side their Uni Tofu dish which was so good and would come back just for that. The other one that I will definitely comeback for is the Wagyu Beef Hitsumabushi. The beef was melt in your mouth and the experience of eating it with that broth was so good. My partner and I talked about it all night and how good it was. The sushi is also great but I agree with some of the other reviewers, this place is not just for the sushi but for the other cooked dishes. This is a gem waiting to explode and their happy hour prices are so good that I can’t believe I haven’t been here for those. Service is great and the chefs are super nice and friendly.

I live nearby but seem to go to every place around it — not anymore. This is pretty refined Japanese food, and very good quality. The miso soup was one of the best I have had. The sushi was fresh and well cut. Everything was very tasty, fresh, and plated beautifully. Its a nice place, and the staff couldn’t have been more pleasant. A big recommend.

Lobster Miso soup is a must try; it’s on the all day specials menu. It’s a good chunk of lobster for the price too! On the same menu, I was also a fan of the toro roll– just a word of advice, be careful of the jalapenos. If you’re not ready(I was not ready) it’ll smack you in the face! It was delicious though. I’d come back totally, but during happy hour, I spent a little too much than I should’ve but it is expected for a good sushi joint like this one.

Summary: a good quality food at Westwood price for good and bad. If you want to go or bring somebody where you want to make sure a sold quality Japanese food with beef, this is a good choice in this neighborhood. Food: they said they specialized in beef and steaks. There is no question about it, their beef dishes are good. It is in little pricy side though. If you go to American steak house, you would get more meat for more affordable prices. But beef and other dishes are good quality. If you care for it, you would be happy here. Service: we went in with 9 people in the busy Saturday night at 7. So I would blame for a bit of slow service. We were sitting I the private booth separated by the wall. servers may not have been able to see us. Even though they didn’t come for us right away, once we order dishes, they came quite quickly, so we were happy. Parking: it is the best to park at pavilion’s big parking structure and walk here. The parking lot is free for 3 hours. Tips: try their beef dish even though it is expensive, it is worth to try. If you want go cheap go Gyu-Ka-ku(arcoss from the street) for a poorman’s choise LOL.

One of our favorite authentic Japanese restaurants since this place was Torafuku. Every time my mom visits me from Tokyo we come here for lunch and dinner. She’s a regular customer at Torafuku in Tokyo and loves the different atmosphere here. The one in Tokyo is more like Izakaya style. This is a perfect place if you want to enjoy REAL Wagyu(Japanese brand beef) dishes. Their sushi and rolls are good too! I love the décor of this place how they mix the modern and traditional Japanese flavors. We always sit at the sushi bar and enjoy having conversation with chef Harikawa when he’s not busy, workers are nice and service is fast. I definitely recommend this place if you are craving for authentic Wagyu beef dishes and fresh sushi;)
