What a beautiful piece of architecture inside and out! Place is so clean and modern looking! Parking is very convinient. Its right across the street for 9 dollars! Which was very reasonable. The only reason why i didnt give it the full 5 stars was because i wasnt too impressed with their sound system in the main music hall where the concert was being held… I expected better sound system and better acoustics.

I recently saw a concert here and Dudamel does not disappoint. Los Angeles did a great job getting him to be the composer, and he brings the needed energy to the LA Phil. From his hair, to his energy, to the sounds, he has kick started the classical music world in Los Angeles in a big way. So excited to see what he has in store! The concert hall has great acoustics and it looks wonderful inside and out. I recently came with my boyfriend and it made for the perfect evening. Except the parking — which I cannot help but wonder after we pay out for tickets, buy drinks at their overpriced bar, they still ask for $ 9 dollars in parking. Hellloooo — treat the consumer right, no? This parking thing aside, I love the hall, love the space, love the Gehry architecture, and am glad Dudamel is here. Just make parking cheaper(or free!).

Chamber music and wine tasting at the Walt Disney Concert Hall was a wonderful night out. This was a fun a event with no hidden surprises or fees. –Parking is a fair $ 9.00. Well worth it the convenience. –The wine tasting was convenient and as described by others. We arrived 15 minutes and took a little time to look through the gift shop before the tasting began. We received two vouchers per person with proper ID.*This is the best deal in town. Where else in Downtown LA are you going to get four glass of wine for optional tip? –The venue is beautiful inside and out. The seats were comfortable and offered a great view. We sat in the Terrace and loved it. –The action music was as expected. Professional chamber music by quality musicians. *I would recommend planning your restroom or water break thoroughly, because you may be stuck in the lobby until intermission as I was.(I missed nearly 15 minutes of the show). But I don’t fault the venue because they are insuring a pleasant experience for everyone. Overall, this venue is amazing. I plan to return in the near future.

The unveiling of this World-Class piece of architecture was the turning point in the transformation of Los Angeles from a huge modern city that did not know itself — into a city of the future that had finally discovered itself. Officially this is the fourth building in the Los Angeles Music Center(the other 3 buildings being The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Mark Taper Forum, and the Amundsen Theater — all one block north in single complex separated by a powerful fountain.) Years ago the LA Phil performed at The Dorothy Chandler(where the acoustics were — ‘I’m trying to be polite’ — unremarkable.) Then in 1987 Walt Disney’s widow, Lillian Disney put up an initial $ 50M to build a new venue for the Phil, as a tribute to her husband Walt’s devotion to music and the arts(think: Fantasia — his homage to symphonic music.). It took 15 years and $ 200M more that her 50 to make the new building happen(and its $ 110M underground parking garage) — but finally in 2003 the Walt Disney Concert Hall was completed. The Architect was Frank Gehry(designer of the fabled Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain) — but he didn’t design the acoustics — instead(and wisely) the designer of the acoustics was Yasuhisa Toyota(who did Tokyo’s orchestra hall and also the renovation of the famous Sydney Opera House.) Gehry and Toyota became a team that drew international attention and respect. Suddenly Los Angeles was on the front page of every arts magazine as a Cultural Center to watch. No longer was LA just the fabricator of a vapid Hollywood movie industry — it was NOW a center for music and architecture — newly reborn into the family of great, culturally self-aware cities. And so began the journey that Los Angeles is still on — and still the early stages of today — the journey to rebuild itself as a serious cultural center. Since the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles has been playing catch-up with other«Top» American Urban Centers — beefing up everything from its public transportation system — to the renovation of its downtown business district — to the refurbishment of its highways, its colleges, and its landmark — to cleaning up and replanting its parks — and rehabilitating its many dilapidated neighborhoods. Now there is -«The Staples Center» and«LA Live» in south downtown — the vigorous development of the«NoHo» Arts district and also its adjacent North Hollywood sprawl — and the establishment of huge synthetic urban-environments used as neighborhood-cornerstones like«The Grove», «The Americana», and the«Hollywood & Highland» complex, leading to the entire refurbishment of Hollywood Blvd. Even The LACMA(The Los Angeles County Museum of Art) recently doubled its size with additional exhibition structures and underground parking. And even in the past 4 months, the new Modern Art Museum«The Broad»(located one door south of the Walt Disney Concert Hall) opened its doors to the public in yet another architectural marvel(filling 3 floors of this huge museum with a mere 2% of the total Broad collection) — all as part of the Los Angeles GRANDAVENUECORRIDORDEVELOPMENTPROJECT — which will transform the north side of LA’s downtown business district into one of the largest cultural corridors in the nation(possibly justifying it to join other cultural corridors like Broadway, the French Quarter, and the Mall in Washington DC). If this keeps up, in 25 years — Los Angeles may well be the greatest city in America.

If you aren’t planning at least a quick visit to Downtown during your time in Los Angeles, First of all, shame on you! and secondly, you’ll be missing out on one of architect Frank Gehry’s most stunning achievements. The Disney Music hall is an architectural gem, both inside and out. Outside, the structure is amazing with the silver curved lines that are in no way symmetrical. You could spend quite a bit of time outside the structure observing it in amazement. The inside the Music Hall is even more amazing. The whole place looks like if it is made of hard wood and the acoustics are awesome. No matter what performance you see, or where you sit, you will be treated by some extraordinary sounds. Don’t worry if you’re not a classical music or a fan of architecture. The highly informative and entertaining(and not to mention free) self-guided audio tour puts the experience into context each step of the way. Don’t miss the rooftop gardens. And they say there’s nothing beautiful in Downtown!

This place is AMAZING cool! The building is beautiful! Modern! Artistic! The staff that works there is friendly, helpful and informative! The acoustics is top-notch and the sitting is well-kept, clean, and comfortable. I do not believe there is a bad sit in the house. I came here with my granddaughter for a Sunday 2PM performance. The LAPHIL was outstanding and my 8yr old granddaughter was consumed by the performance the entire time. We were not wise enough to manage lunch before we came, fortunately during intermission they offered small snacks(turkey sandwich bites & small cheese plates) for sale along with beverages. I recommend this place to all.

This is a great concert hall, one of the best. However I am giving them 1 star for the quality of the show that we saw today, 12÷31÷15. We just returned home from the WDCH after seeing Gladys Knight, very disappointed with the show. It lasted only 90 minutes and Gladys performed only for about 60 minutes. Now I realize she is 71 but why not stay at home, put your feet up and enjoy a nice cup of coffee? If on the other hand, you want to perform and tour Gladys, then put on a show, a real show and give your fans value for money. The WDCH should be a responsible citizen and present only high grade shows that last a minimum of 120 minutes; remember you charge us a lot of money, I paid in excess of $ 100 for a «nose bleed» seat. Shame on you WDCH, please act more responsibly in the future. This evening was a great disappointment, I will not be going to WDCH any time soon.

This review is for two family friendly shows on the weekends: 1. Toyota Symphonies for Youth series The good: — the price… about $ 20 a ticket, 4 shows in the series — the pre-concert activities… art creation, instrument play, cultural presentations in the outdoor amphitheater — Takes place inside Disney Hall, which is so beautiful Suggestions: — If the series could incorporate a visual in their performances, like a screen with a backdrop or something relevant to help carry the story being told by the performers. Many of the kids where we sat were losing their attention because it was a lot of talking in between playing from the orchestra. — Have the performance be more interactive, again to sustain the attention of kids. 2. World City Music Series The good: — Free series, several throughout the year — In amphitheater outside, but inside if it rains — Offers complementary art activities — Music and dance from around the world Suggestion: — Only that those in charge do a better job being consistent with their calendar and promotion. It’s unpredictable and difficult to find online. We’re huge fans of this exquisite venue, and appreciate the family friendly events that are offered.

It was me an my sister first time here an are experience started in the parking garage, we meet a nice lady named georgina and we told her how it was our new time she told us we had to visit the garden it is a must see and she was right. We visited the garden and it was very nice the plants where nice an green and the way everything was designed was very nice ae even got to see the rose fountain which was very nice. After that we sat down and we met another nice lady named jenny she happened to be a music instructor. Me and my sistsr where talking to her an my sister mentioned how ahe wanted to put my newphew in classes for violin but unfortunately it was to expensive. Jenny was nice enought to give us some information about youth orchestra groups that would be free or very affordable and it was really appreciated. All these great thing and the concert had not even started. Once the concert started it was great i wasn’t expecting the music to move me the way it did. I was able to relate to each piece in a different way and each one moved me differently. I say if you have not been here you have to try it at least once even if you think its not for you. Just come try it out an see if its something you enjoy and can relate too, i know i really did:) I will be back again and again and again it was a great experience and i want more

I came here for a tour, and it was pretty cool! They have free guided tours where you learn about the history of the concert hall, some architecture, and get to see the entire hall in detail! It was pretty informative, and although we didn’t get to go inside the auditorium, it was still cool. Definitely recommend it, since it’s in the heart of downtown and the tour is FREE!

This is a very nice venue. It’s clean and classy. For a recent concert, the scanning of the tickets when walking in wasn’t the most efficient… they scanned the bar codes of the tickets, and then physically tore them off each paper print out. This made for a slight wait and much congestion before heading up the elevators. It’s too bad they can’t just quickly scan the tickets and let people continue on their way, as most venues do. Despite this brief hold up, the venue was impressive — small and intimate, nice. Driving downtown is the worst part, and the Metro is a little scary, especially at night, so there’s not many options. We were able to park a couple blocks away, about a 5 minute walk, for $ 10 on a week night.

**BEAUTIFULCONCERTHALL** Thank you to our friends for the complimentary tickets to the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde silent movie night on Halloween. ABOUT ====== Fourth hall of the Los Angeles Music Center and designed by Frank Gehry. One of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. Home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Opened on October 24, 2003. PARKING ======== Street or valet. SHOW ===== We sat in EE15 and 16. Yes, the best seats in the house! The acoustics were fantastic. Seats were comfortable and spacious. Had such a good time listening and watching the organist, Pat Wilson, play during the movie. OVERALL ======== We now know why this is an internationally recognized architectural landmark. Beautiful architecture all around. Inside and out. From the stainless steel curves of its exterior to the acoustics of the main auditorium, this landmark embodies great energy and creative spirit. HIGHLYRECOMMEND.

There’s no place in the world quite like the magnificent Walt Disney Concert Hall. Its stainless steel exterior is hard to miss from the streets, and this iconic landmark is easily one of the finest music venues in Los Angeles. My first time at WDCH was in November 2007 to see harpist Joanna Newsom. I remember walking into the building, my wandering eyes wide opened with a smile glued to my face as I tried to consume every precious moment. The amphitheater itself has tones creating a sense of warmth and comfort, yet, it’s still embodies so much sophistication and class. I sat in my comfortable seat eager with anticipation. Then — the music began. There were no crazy special effects that you see in many performances today, as this would distract from the talent. Instead, everything was calm, and allowed the ear to focus on the brilliant acoustics created by each individual instrument in the room. The sound is crystal clear, allowing the listener to feel a sense of intimacy as if you’re very close to the stage, regardless of your seat location. Seeing any artist at the Walt Disney Concert Hall is such a privilege, and I can’t wait for the many shows I’ll be seeing here for years to come.

LAPHIL is always fantastic. I’ve never been disappointed at all. Mendelssohn and Strauss concert with Semyon Bychokov, the conductor, Renaud Capucon, the violinist. The French violinist, Renoud Capucon knows the French composer, Felix Mendelssohn, perfectly well with his flawless play. Though i have listened so many times for Mendelssohn’s violin concerto, i have never met this kind violinist ever. So tender and smooth as if Mendelssohn were one of his family. The conductor, Semyon Bychokov, conducted An Alpine Symphony with the vigor energy and enthusiasm as if i was in the forest of the alpine village. And i alway thank to LAPHIL players giving highest quality of music, and make us proud of living in LA.

Gorgeous venue! Architect Frank Gehry and acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota’s design is genius, making this concert hall both architecturally and acoustically phenomenal and one of the most well-known landmarks in L.A. Home of the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra, Walt Disney Concert Hall seats over 2,000 people. There’s not one bad seat given its vineyard style seating. I saw the Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring performed by the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra with Gustavo Dudamel as the conductor. Fantastic acoustics, beautiful venue inside and out, right in the heart of downtown L.A. If you’re able to catch a performance here, do it!

If you like architecture and/or music, you should definitely check this place out. during the day(or when nothing else is going on), they have FREE tours of the building. You can also do a self guided tour(if you like going at your own pace and taking lots of pics like I do) very pretty/picturesque(did i spell that right?) and you get to learn some cool things too. i hope to come back one day to see an actual performance

Between the Frank Gehry architecture and performances, it doesn’t get better. I first started going to Walt Disney Concert Hall for their Toyota Symphonies for Youth. This is a great reasonably priced program to expose kids to everything from classical to jazz. My favorite youth show has been a modern puppet like rendition of Peter and the Wolf. Further, they have hands-on activities prior to the show(always a plus when you have kids that can’t sit still). In the past few years, my son started participating in events held here and I’ve been backstage(security is tight). Last year, I had my most incredible experience. I had bumped into an opera singer at a restaurant and he offered my son and I free tickets to Cosi Fan Tutte. Little did I know that the singer was the star of the show and the seats were perfect(pic attached). Plus, we were invited to the green room and met all the opera singers after the show. So between the outside, stage, backstage, green room & parking garage, I have seen it all. This is a fantastic venue. Any negative? Parking. Its $ 9 underneath after 4pm and can get backed up. Valet is $ 23 and can get backed up. So, I prefer parking at a lot a block away, but you have to walk uphill to get to Concert Hall.

This place is a must-visit. Even if you don’t go inside, check out the outside area because it is amazing, from its architecture to its garden. It’s also open to the public to look around during non-show hours! I would strongly recommend seeing a show here, though! Tickets to see the LA Phil are much higher than seeing other shows, which makes lots of sense. Parking is $ 10(I think) and is underground. This is the easiest way to do it, so don’t bother parking 99 miles away and walking when this will make your life 100x easier. Dress: Dress nicely. People look put together here, in business-casual or nicer clothes. Ladies, pull out your LBDs, and men, bust out that suit and wingtips. The acoustics are obviously amazing, and the design is really incredible. It is about as «wow» as it gets, and the patios and the entrance and the hallways are all beautiful. This is a welcomed part of downtown LA and one worth checking out time and time again.

This place is so pretty, inside and out. The inside is really clean and new looking. The staff members are nice and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and there are a few snacks for purchase. The outside is great for pictures. It’s so unique. The performance area is huge and even the seats in the back are not too bad. Would definitely come back for another performance.
