The only reason I am giving this place two stars is 1: for the ambiance, and 2: the dj. Other than that– HORRIBLE! Wait-staff is the worst I’ve ever seen. Rude and inattentive. The girls working are cute, but not so cute they don’t have to work. And at $ 14 a drink, I’d rather pay to break open the mini bar!

If you’re going to charge this much money for food and drinks, the service better be incredible. It’s not. We sat for several minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted anything. When she finally came, the waitress was nice enough but we ordered a burger and it took an hour to come. The waiters said the kitchen was backed up. Meanwhile there were hardly any people at the place.

Ambience/Décor: Ok, I was here with a female friend one evening during summer of 2014. It was painfully obvious this place was set up as a «date night» establishment. The management did whatever they could to encourage ovulation, I’m sure the parent-aged male clientele appreciated their efforts. In addition to the already dimmed lights, extra-small tables forcing patrons to be seated closer together, and chinese lanterns, the next step is for management to offer complimentary ovary massages. It might also be a good idea to offer an aphrodisiac-only menu for dinner service on summer evenings. Food: The food here was reasonably good. I ordered one of the burgers and it was pretty delicious. I also had the stringy fries, that was pretty good also. Drinks: I didn’t drink, but I probably should have. Service: Service was friendly and attentive.

This is a great place to come after work for like a Knisel a happy hour, a great place to meet someone new for that first«let’s meet for drinks» date, or just a place to come with the girls and chill out and talk about life. I really like this place because it’s not too much of a flashy vibe although it offers really beautiful ambience and Nice array of people that come from college students to young professionals to older business type people. The drinks are really good here although expensive you generally only need one or two maybe three if your big diet because they make them super stiff. I’ve never had a week drink here in fact I find that this is the coveted place that may be over pores on their measurement of alcohol in which you will never hear me complaining about. My friend once ordered a Long Island iced tea here and said, «oh my god this is way too strong they didn’t mix this well»… I was glad to take it off her hands if you know what I mean ;) If you’re looking for a new place to try maybe make a new regular spot of yours I recommend this place it’s one of my frequent places that I come to. Feel free to say hello if you ever see me

Closes at 10:30. The manager was very rude in wanting to get us out of here. Just ordered a drink at 10:15 and she was determined to get us out of here in 5 minutes. Sad especially that I’m paying $ 600 a night to stay in the hotel.

Service was so so. For a place charging what they charge, to have to go and carry my own stool across the bar to sit with my friends was silly. I mean, I asked the«mater DI» or doorman who shrugged and pointed at the stool suggesting if you want you can do it. Food was average, overpriced. There is much better in the area. Drinks are very overpriced, but here’s the kicker. I got charged twice, a lower and a higher. The higher for 100 even and lower at 68.28. When I called they said they’d look into it. They canceled the lower one and created a fake receipt to cover the tray at the end of the night for the 100 charge. This is ridiculous. No wonder this place used to be a sleek, cool hang out and now it’s just a slum for hotel guests and suckers. Fool me once… never again.

Crap service. Watered down sweet old fashiond’s. Rotten shrimp cocktail. 100 bucks for four drinks and an app. Wont be back.

Very nice lounge. My first time there for a group party and I was impressed from the bat. The drinks were strong but REALLY pricey. I know it’s Los Angeles but still 14 bucks for a mixed drink is a little over the top. The bartenders are really nice and take care of the customer. I would give this a 4 star but the DJ was wack. Too busy entertaining his girlfriend and not manning the tunes well. He pretty much pushed play and sat at the bar for most of the night. Then towards the end he started playing random mexican music(I’m assuming the girlfriend is mexican or some ish). Definitely a slow night when we went so very little dancing. I’d consider this place if you want to chill rather than party.

Why have I never been here in the 5 years I’ve worked in Westwood? Really beautiful and trendy spot to grab a drink and relax. It’s a big space with comfy couches and tables. During the week at 8 pm it was pretty tame but I could imagine that it gets crowded on the weekends. Craft cocktails and good beer and wine as well as a bites menu. Tried the roasted tomato pizza and it was really good. Prices are consistent with any upscale lounge in LA. I would definitely go back!

Negative: Rude service(bouncers) and overpriced drinks. Positives: Trendy, upscale atmosphere. Went here this past Friday night. My friends and I were greeted in front of the W by a very nice security guard, however, the bouncer was not so friendly. The bouncer rudely checked my ID, and had a very arrogant air to himself. He patronizingly asked me my birthday, then proceeded to say how I looked different than my ID. I am going on 27 years old and was very offended he kept questioning my ID. I then headed to the bar with my friends and was again, asked to show my ID by the bartender. It was enough to make me walk out of the bar. I understand you can’t allow minors into the bar, but I expect my ID to only be checked once. Cocktails and wine were expensive and I would have been happier at another bar(Napa Valley Grille, Glendon, etc). Save yourself time and do not go!

Low key, upscale bar with a great DJ! This place has a bit more spunk than most hotel lounges in the area. But I have no idea why the W has so many bouncers in this place… It’s Westwood! The drinks are stiff, and the service is great. Overall a great place to lounge and carry a conversation but I prefer wine bars to hotel lounges, as I prefer wine over cocktails. I also prefer the pool area over the bar area to lounge in, but I guess time of day matters. Parking is redic! $ 14 validated — yep a bit more than the cocktails. I guess street parking could work, but if you’re with shorty in 5″ heels– that’s a big NO! NO!

I stay at the W-Westwood every time I’m in LA and every damn time I drink in Whiskey Blue, which has probably been about a dozen times, the server always thinks I’m a scrub that doesn’t stay there! I swear I don’t look homeless! hahahaha. They almost always start by saying«since you’re not staying here, can I get a credit card».what! Why would you just assume that of me??? Whiskey Blue is fine as a bar, dark, large couches to sit on. Most of the servers are young and pretty dumb, not shocking. All the cocktails are pretty good, nothing too creative but strong, and it better be for $ 14 each. They have a secret outdoor space that we always try to sit in. I do love that they stay open until 2am, and sometimes the bus boys are nice enough to sneak me out food way past the time the kitchen’s supposed to close. Overall, whiskey blue is good if you get a good server, but don’t get your hopes up.

Fun place to lounge around if you’re staying at the W, or just coming here on a random weeknight. Their happy hour has a nice selection for whiskey drinks and snacks. They have a DJ on weekend nights, but it’s really more of a chill place than a #omgletsgocrazyyolo type of place.

Came here with a large group for my cousin’s 21st birthday to celebrate. It’s nice because they’re are places to sit in the corner with sofas and chairs, just come early if you want your space for the rest of the night and you can chill the whole night, seems like if you come late, you’ll be just standing around by the bar, or waiting till people leave. Sometimes 2 people can just take up a whole area that seated like 6 people. Anyways the drinks are really good! Just pricey, but I’m sure you expect that at the W, and the area you are in. They supposedly do not allow you to dance, but by the end of the night I was dancing with my cousins by the DJ. They do have music, not bad tunes except when he started playing random mexican music haha. I believe some bites to eat as well since they had a small food menu, but only till 9. Our Waitress was really nice and kept asking us if we wanted drinks also helped us move to a better place and answer all our questions! Jalapeño Margarita(3.5) — good drink, really taste the jalapeño and the alcohol at the same time, pretty strong for me though! This would have been a good 3rd drink, but not bad! Gummy Bear Shots(4) — Nice big shot! Red Headed Slut(4) — Yummy! Smallish shot but good. Also when the guys were checking my ID when I sat near the lounge area he literally just stared at it, asked for my birthday, and jokingly I said I have other cards that have my name on it, stared at it again, then asked me for another card!!! SERIOUSLY, I handed him my credit card, and he looked closely at it –___– My ID was the longest looked at in the group, I’M 23, and I sure looked like it that night… weird…They seem like they could be really strict or somthing. Weird. This is the perfect place if you just want to sit the entire night and drink and listen to music, and socialize or catch up. Not really crazy place to get drunk. It’s classy and cozy.

Not my crowd at all! Either I went on a wrong night or this is a bar for older crowds. This bar is considered an upscale bar located at the W Hotel in Westwood. Their drinks start at $ 15. And I have to say their drinks are pretty strong. They have a dance floor in the back and a nice lounge area with chairs and tables all around the bar. I went on a Friday night at around 11:00 — 12:00AM and it wasn’t really cracking. They had a live DJ by the dance floor. He played wide selection of music, which included salsa, some old school rap, and even dubstep… I was not used to going to a bar and listening to salsa music. I guess it’s about the experience.

I guess Friday night is really not a good night for Whiskey Blue… Came early for happy hour with $ 7 appetizers and $ 7 tequila drinks. The food was pretty decent and well portioned. Sweet potato fries with white truffle aioli was the star. Drinks tasted fine but not very strong. But I guess that’s what you expect for happy hour pours… People started showing up around 10pm for the bar and we thought it was going to get crowded and fun but no… I think it looked like it was about to get to decent capacity for about… 5 minutes. Rest of the time was just plain empty. It really started emptying out around midnight. We were too lazy to go anywhere else. By the time we left around 1AM, I believe there was a grand total for 20 people inside. The Décor is superior to the DJ is superior to the Crowd. There were comfy couches everywhere and they were definitely available to sit on without selling out money for a bottle. But oh wait, a guy actually invited us to sit at his«exclusive VIP table». Look around buddy, I can sit where ever I want! All the songs the DJ played were goodies but it was just a very very random mixture and order of things. And back to the people… definitely tend to be older… some even going grey… But gosh not a single good looking man in sight. And even the ladies… there is certainly no door policy here. Both the goods and the odds are poor. Will I ever come back? Maybe… because the best thing about this place is that it’s walking distance to my apt…

Whiskey blue is a pretty decent lounge. I’ve been here a couple times for events and for bdays and random outings. The vibe is pretty classy and modern. Dark lighting and a lot of reds and browns in the color scheme. If a room could be sexy, this would be it. It has a very relaxed feeling and has this resort on an island feel to it with the couches and beds in the back. Parking’s always a bother in this area but you’d be lucky to find some street parking. They definitely look at how you dress and sometimes make you wait out side just because they want to draw a line.
