This place is overrated. I can’t believe it received 1 Michelin star, and the food isn’t that great. I’ve tasted better food in the Bay Area for the same price, and those restaurants don’t have the prestigious recognition. We tried several items from the a la carte menu and some items from the $ 45 prix fixe menu for the Restaurant Week menu. Our starter of the bread was okay. I like the whipped butter though. Appetizers: + Crispy Quail– MmM. so yummy! Love the sauce and the crispiness. I thought the dish had scallops, but it was made out of polenta. Very interesting. + Poached Shrimp Salad– This was not worth the price. The avocado dressing was uninspiring, and the shrimp was nothing spectacular. The duck prosciutto was really salty. Quite disappointing. + Yellow Corn Bisque(from prix fixe) — The soup had a good corn flavor, but it wasn’t as good as the corn soup that I had at Parcel 104. The crab was a nice touch. The cilantro soda was potent, but refreshing. + Also had a complimentary amuse bouche that was a strawberry gazpacho with cilantro. I didn’t taste the strawberry that much. It was more acidic. Maybe there were tomatoes in the drink. Main Entrees: + Seared Salmon(from prix fixe) — My mom sent back this dish since the salmon was overcooked, even though she requested it to be undercooked. When she received the dish the second time, the salmon was moist. The flavor wasn’t bad. + Prime Flat Iron Stack(from prix fixe) — The meat was tender. The sides of the fried potatoes and asparagus was okay. + Mer Rouge– Yum! This dish is similar to ciopinno with seafood and the tomato sauce. I sopped up my bread with the sauce. +Grilled Australian Yellowtail– I was quite disappointed with the dish. The yellowtail was overcooked by a couple minutes. In addition, there wasn’t a lot of food for $ 27. Dessert: + Blueberry Lemon Cake was all right. I liked the almond ice cream. Yum! The apricots weren’t ripe though. There are a lot of chocolate items on the dessert menu. However, nothing else looked interesting to me. I’ll say that the service is really good at this place. I would expect the silverware and the mugs before using. The silverware had stuff still on them. In addition, the coffee mug had stains on it still. We were glad to receive replacements. I think the chefs need to rethink their cooking style for fish. The two fish dishes that we ordered were overcooked. Also, there needs to be some more creativity with the food.

When I think of what my expectations are for a Michelin rated restaurant, my experience at Travese was definitely underwhelming, especially considering the other Michelin rated restaurants available. I came in for lunch with a buddy and waited for a hostess to seat us… We did not see anyone for about five minutes, I think the server was the only person on the floor for lunch so the irked feeling I get when waiting to be seated subsided and I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was busy. Looking over the menu, there were a few enticing options, I love reading menus, they entice my appetite and prepare my stomach for what is about to come. I settled on the heirloom tomato salad,(since I knew we were just getting into the great part of the season) and also the burger. My buddy had the corn bisque and pork sandwhich with fried egg. The salad was good, not amazing, it lacked seasoning, as did the soup. The bread and butter that we were served was very good. I love a spreadable salted butter. The burger was very tender and had some good flavor. My friend seemed to like the Pork Sandwich. Everything was just ok for me. Nothing really stood out. Even though it’s lunch there should be something memorable about what I am eating. I mean, seriously, I went to Bouchon for lunch and had an amazing meal. Why should this be different? They are both Michelin rated and from what I know of Michelin all the restaurants who obtain that kind of notoriety should be as good as any of the other with the same distinction. But, I digress. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not amazing, and frankly that is what I expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. I won’t mention service, because I don’t think it would be fair to rate. I didn’t see structure, I didn’t see attention to detail, but she really tried to make sure we had a good time and enjoyed everything, and I can appreciate that. 3 stars.

I went to Trevese about a month ago. I was out with my wife walking around Downtown Los Gatos and I decided that today was the day that we’d try Trevese. We had no reservations at all but luckily they had open seating available and we were able to sit outside. I must say that I’m in love with the look of the restaurant. It sort of makes me feel like I was in a movie setting. It’s so cute and chic at the same time. It was so relaxing and vibrant… The trees and the mansion itself were worth the price of the dinner. The lighting was good as well. It was a bit chilly outside and they were quick to keep us warm with some heat lamps and fire pit. We had two bottles of wine(I had no idea what it was but it was good). We both decided to have the Summer Vegetarian 5 Course Meal. I honestly do not recall what was being served to us. It didn’t really stick out to me that much. There were some dishes that were too eclectic for my taste and the combination of flavors didn’t necessarily play well for me. I do remember not being so fond of the first dish that was served to us –it was some sort of odd Asian flavored dish. Honestly, it felt more like an experimental dinner than a great one. I wouldn’t say that Vegetarian dishes are their forte. In general, it was a good experience and I am glad that we had the opportunity to try out Trevese. I am not sure as to whether or not I would go back there for dinner though.

The soft lighting, the attentive waiters. The fire pit. The mansion ambiance. The presentation of exotic bites in seductive sauces. As I dined at Trevese last Friday, I wondered: can the feel of a place alone make you feel like you are in love? Well, Unilocal friends, I don’t have the answer to that question. I do know that it was an awesome experience to eat here, but not necessarily because of the food. My date and I got the six course dinner with wine pairings. It definitely felt like an adventure as we moved from plate to plate and wine to wine. However, I do have some warnings. Warning One is that the wine pairings are minimal. It’s basically a teensy swallow in a glass. If you come in with a thirsting for a drink, you’re better off ordering an additional drink separately(yes, it makes you look like a lush, but what the hey). Warning Two: the food is not for all palates. I couldn’t handle the pork course, whatever that was. The waiter was very gracious about it and gave me a $ 25 gift certificate to use next time. Warning Three: You may wonder at the end of the dinner how on earth you just spent the better portion of $ 300 on dinner for two. Yes, you heard me correctly. This is not for the faint of wallet. Warning Four: you may end up falling for the person you take to dinner here, so I wouldn’t recommend taking your rugby buddy or platonic friend, unless you want to look into their eyes over candlelight for a solid 90 minutes. Overall, a great experience, though somehow I didn’t like the food that much. Ambience and service were very good. I would definitely come back to hang in the lounge for cocktails.

Sorry Trevese, but I had to subtract a star from you because of my last visit. Maybe I should have gotten the lamb chops again, but I wanted to eat fish. My man had his birthday celebration here, and first our server was polite, but kind of slow and seemed not quite the brightest kid out there. Then we got our food: 4 friends ordered the chicken, 1 duck, 1 fish(me), and one beef(Chris), and I believe everything was relatively alright, but nothing seemed to stand out. I tasted the tomato soup that Chris ordered and it was way under-seasoned. Then his steak was okay, and the potato pastry was the yummiest part of the dish, while the steak was a little uneven in the medium-rare he wanted it. Such a disappointing meal in a way, but not horrid. Not sure if we want to go back again. I don’t live down here anyway, so might not be too big of a loss.

I wasn’t sure if I should give this restaurant 3 stars or 4. Read on. I went there with my husband this past Sat night to celebrate our 6th anniversary. He surprised me with a Michelin-rated restaurant, which was pretty impressive. The Victorian house was absolutely beautiful. We had a 7PM reservation, but we were 15 mins late which was fine since the restaurant was over half empty. We were seated at the window seat, which was the best seat in the house. I truly appreciated that along with our personalized menu that stated on top«Happy 6th Anniversary!» They also gave our menu to us, which was really considerate. As soon as I sat down, there was a huge fly that was stupidly trying its best to get through the window by me. I was so annoyed with its proximity to me that I smashed it against the window. The waiter was nice enough to clean it up. Then another one was annoying me 30 mins into our dinner. I think it’s because it was a hot day, and they keep the front door open. So flies come in, and they love to run into the big window next to our table. Aargh! Was that annoying! My husband ordered the vegetarian tasting menu. Because I’ve been having a meat-heavy weekend, I opted for a la carte Root Vegetable Salad and Two Way Cooked Rabbit. The waiter looked a little disappointed that I didn’t go for the tasting menu as well. What can I say? I had a late lunch around 3, which consisted of a salad that was mostly chicken. The shot of complementary strawberry gazpacho was absolutely delicious. It was spicy and sweet with tiny bits of cucumber and fruity… I think it was mango. The Root Vegetable Salad was delicious, but it was quite lacking in the root vegetable department despite its name. It came with 3 thin slices of baby beets(newborns, more like it). They substituted in frisee and skimped on the watercress as stated in the menu. I guess they were running low on watercress and hoped that I was fine with the substitution. I was glad to see more green on my plate but felt a little deceived by the menu and the kitchen not informing me of the change. I’ve had rabbit entrees before but as a stew, which from now on I will only get rabbit as a stew. The rabbit pâté was delicious — moist and well-seasoned. The confit was rather dry even though it was covered in plum sauce. The sauce itself I thought was a little too sweet for very lean meat of the drumstick. Perhaps the drumstick should have been cooked a little longer? I can’t comment too much about the cooking style for rabbits since I’ve never cooked it myself. However, when I had the rabbit stew at a Basque restaurant, it was delicious. I ended up giving my husband a lot of my drumstick. The accompany«grain salad» was a little too uncooked for me. The quinoa was barely cooked, which I wasn’t used to since I cook my quinoa to the point of high fluffiness. The barley and pine nuts were tasty accompaniment to the quinoa. If only they had cooked the quinoa longer… Maybe they assumed that I had no idea even what quinoa was. Little did they know I love this healthy high-protein grain. We ordered a bottle of Pelligrino. When we ordered another bottle, the waiter told me that they ran out! WTH? That means that we have more sparkling mineral water at home than at this Michelin-rated restaurant? We then asked for their flat water. They only gave us one bottle, and we were SO thirsty after we finished that one that we took the leftover bottle of water that the next table left. Yes, it’s shameful. But we haven’t seen our waiter in awhile. The waiter also mistakenly said, «This champagne is for your first course» to my husband. He thought that the waiter had accidentally written down his tasting menu with the wine accompaniment. What the waiter meant to say was that it was complements of the house for our anniversary. Since I was pregnant, they didn’t give me a glass. But we were confused when the waiter did give us a glass of champagne. Thank you but huh? I ordered a chocolate cake with green tea sauce and ice cream. The cake was like a warm mini lava cake, topped with a chocolate cookie and ice cream(forgot the flavor). The cake wasn’t too sweet, which made me thrilled. The ice cream was refreshing with the warm cake. But I tasted the burn on the cookie, which was hard to detect my sight since the room was dark. However, i can taste the burn and had to stop eating the cookie. I also ordered decaf coffee with my dessert, but it never came out. So I canceled my order, which automatically canceled my husband’s decaf espresso. I thought they should’ve asked us if we also wanted to cancel the espresso, but they automatically canceled it. It’s like they don’t like to talk to us. What’s up with that? We were smiling and were friendly. Maybe it’s because I found a FLUORESCENTPINKTWISTTIE in my entrée. I initially thought it was cranberry. They didn’t compensate us for the entrée.

I came here for the Silicon Valley Socialite Launch Party hosted by DJ Donovan so my review reflects the event moreso than the dining, but I hope to make a return visit for their tasting menu because the food looks fabulous! The event was very well organized. There were well dressed doorsmen to guide us in, entry was fast, coat check, great ambiance, and a good mix of people. The mansion is amazing. The bar was very crowded due to the event but service was still quick as possible and friendly. I liked the bar setup a lot because you could step down into the actual bar area and the level above had beautiful wine shelves and tables. The owner and his wife Teresa(they named the restaurant after her and I think their child? I forget because I was still drunk haha) are very gracious and friendly. I ended up losing my iphone at the end of the night :(We stayed back until closing to look for it but it was a lost cause. I left my contact information and they called back the next day and left me a message. Although they did not find my iphone, I appreciate their quick response. I could tell she made an effort to look for it the next day after a packed night. Will definitely be back to check out the food and wine!

I’m starting this off by stating what is fairly well known, which is that Travese has a Michelin star. Bear in mind, other restaurants with a single Michelin star in the greater San Francisco Bay Area include Gary Danko, Fleur de Lys, Fifth Floor and Chez Panisse. I mention these venerable Bay Area eateries for a reason, which will become clear shortly. First off, Travese is in a beautiful old Victorian building. The interior is dark with tasteful furnishings and there is deck with seating available outside. Although the a la carte side of the menu had some appealing options, we elected to go with the six course tasting menu. At Travese, there are two tasting menus, one with meat and one fully vegetarian. They change daily, based on season and market availability. Here is a brief description of each of the dishes: –Scallops with carrot purée, citrus and mirin This was the best dish of the evening. Perfectly seared scallops mated with a carrot soup and a citrus and mirin sauce. A simple, beautiful dish that really gets you excited for what is to come next. –Quail with smoked cherries, Port sauce, grilled polenta cake and mustard greens Not what I expected at all. The quail was deep fried and slathered in the sticky sweet Port sauce. It reminded me almost of General Tso’s chicken for any Chinese restaurant. The quail was a tad bit overcooked. The smoked cherries were almost bitter and the polenta cake offered nothing. The mustard greens were well cooked, though, and had good flavor. –Prosciutto with carrot gnocchi with grape salad The prosciutto was incredibly salt and the ghocchi far too dense. –Grilled lamb, white bean purée and artichokes The lamb was unevenly cooked, with some pieces at correct doneness and others rare to the point of being squishy. The white bean purée had a lovely, silken texture and good flavor. The artichokes were fairly bland. –Cheese plate of Gorgonzola, Petite Basque and chervil goat cheese with honey foam and crostini The goat cheese was the winner on this plate. The Petite Basque was good, but had a sweaty sheen on it. Obviously it had been sitting out for awhile. I love blue cheese, but this Gorgonzola was just a little bit too ripe even for me. The honey foam was pointless to me. Why couldn’t we get *actual* honey? –Vanilla cake with olive oil ice cream The ice cream had a nice, delicate olive oil flavor that matched well with the Meyer lemon filling of the cake. Service was not what you’d expect in a restaurant of this caliber, or perhaps alleged caliber. Our waiter was a bit standoffish and not someone I could describe as personable. Dishes were delivered very mechanically with only a perfunctory description of the course at hand. So, overall, this was just an «eh» kind of meal, which for the money spent is unacceptable. Granted, I understand how difficult it can be to churn out new menus every day and expect consistent results. Part of honing a recipe is having customer feedback and the time to ferret out any issues. As such, I might have had a completely different experience on any other night. If Michelin renews Travese’s star, I might consider giving it another try. But, in my estimation, Travese pales in comparison to another restaurant in the South Bay that focuses on farm fresh, sustainable, seasonal cuisine, Parcel 104… which does not even have a Michelin star. Something to ponder, huh?

Really great food and outside seating area on a sunny day makes for a great experience. Oh, and dont forget the cocktails. Very attentive and friendly service. We had fried oysters served on mint leaves – unusual, but it worked. The gem salad with white anchovies and olive paste was perfect. And the seared scallops and cold soba noodles, tossed in a sweet sesame dressing was wonderful. I quite literally liked the plate clean. Our server made a great wine pairing for our dessert: icewine with a vanilla cake, olive oil ice cream and lime-tequilla sauce. Mmmmm…

High expectations this time around for a Michelin starred resto: –The interior remains fabulous & love the addition of the outdoor seating. –Priced reasonably for what was ordered, a glass of pinot, 2 apps &2 entrees, $ 135. –Food was a bit heavier than I remembered. –I was not loving the inclusion of chocolate & white chocolate in savory dishes, save that for Iron Chef. –Scallops were solid & paired nicely with the soba/seaweed combo. –Rabbit was very tender and I actually liked the breading, but the choc bread pudding was overly sweet & there was just too much of it. –Duck entrée was a trio that tried too hard with the duck press, not as good or crusty, sliced duck which lacked flavor & duck egg roll. –The Cobia whitefish, was a species I had never encountered and I was delighted to find it was a sashimi grade fish, cooked medium rare, broth was nice and light and the german spatzle was a unique addition, as many restos don’t serve it. –Service is excellent despite their tendency to hover and stare. Trevese still manages to shock me w/their ability to deliver plates of food that are out of the ordinary. Highly recommend the cobia, I still think about it.

Amazing place. The building itself stood out like a sore thumb between the Gap and the other clothing shops on the street. It felt like a going into someone’s beautiful home with beautifully decorated with lights on the trees. Walking in the restaurant was dimly lit and the lounge bar was offset from the main dining rooms. One dining room is where the kitchen is located. The other is in another room that would be equivalent of the living room. I prefer the dining area with the kitchen as it is not so enclosed or feel so dark. You also get a peak of the cooks with the hanging panels in front. This place is fine dining. Be prepared for small tasting portions, palate cleansers, and romantic aka dark lighting. We shared a half bottle of wine($ 50) that was superb. I had the cauliflower bisque with the basil soda shot and the seared scallops w/soba noodles while my date had the lamb. All were fantastic. For dessert we had the chocolate panna cotta that came with homemade peanut brittle. The panna cotta was so-so while the small pieces of peanut brittle were the shining stars of the dish. The total bill came out to $ 127.00. Not bad. I can see why Treverse won the Michelin’s Class of 2009. Beautiful place, soothing and romantic atmosphere, decadent and amazing food. Would definitely come back again to try their other dishes.

I have since returned twice for dinner and found out that there is(as of this writing)… No corkage Sunday thru Thursday. Yay Trevese! Had a really interesting appetizer… Deep fried rabbit with chocolate bread pudding and a spicy mustard sauce. I may be screwing up that description as I cannot get to their online menu to confirm but that was the general idea. It was wonderful. The chocolate bread pudding was barely chocolate… rather, it added an interesting hint of earthiness to the tender, delicious rabbit. I thought this was *really* creative and I could eat it again and again. I have also had the Mer Rouge, which is a very refined soup/stew like dish of scallops, shrimp, crab and mussels in a thick tomato sauce. Fresh and delicious. Finally, the dry aged bone in NY Steak is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Tons of great flavor on it’s own but the mushroom sauce and the blue cheese potato«tot» sent it out of the stratosphere. The lamb with cranberries and white beans, and the black cod with chervil nage have also been met with abundant praise by my dining companion. Lastly I had to try the candied bacon ice cream, which was tasty and fun… but the chevre cheesecake with lemon thyme polenta crust and peach sorbet was nothing short of amazing. With it’s friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere Trevese will likely become a regular stop on the dinner rotation going forward.

Trevese, Michelin’s class of 2009, is exactly what I expected of a restaurant in one of the most expensive zipcodes in South Bay: opulent dark-wood ambiance, semi-long wait at the bar /lounge area while your table is mysteriously being«prepared» despite being there on time, impeccable service, male patrons curiously dressed in business suits on a Saturday evening(I’ve always wondered what their stories were), older female patrons sipping wine from crystal wine goblets(ditto), and occasional couples obviously splurging a little in celebration of something. As for the food? The foie gras served with pistachio crisp was great(was not a big fan of onion marmalade). The seared scallop with cold soba noodle and seaweed salad was STELLAR. The entrée plates were a tad ordinary such that we didn’t quite remember what was ordered, and so was the assortment of sorbet and ice-cream. That being said, we had an enjoyable time. And the Michelin star was well-deserved.

We booked our valentine’s day dinner party weeks ago, and were informed it would be $ 80 per person. When we showed up, what used to be $ 80 set menu became $ 100, plus additional $ 45 for matching wine samples. In addition, the waitress offered only«still» or «sparkling» water. What do you do in front of your friends and significant others on a romantic outing? Be cheap? No. So, we took up all their gimmicks, hoping the best out of this fine restaurant, and these are what we got: 1. Extremely tiny portion of food(more on this later) 2. Four tiny glasses of wine samples — each«glass» is about 3 – 4 oz., or about a shot glass full of wine 3. «Fiji» brand bottled water at $ 8/bottle. Oh they were *not* stingy on topping off all glasses. Let’s be fair. The dishes were creative, delicious, and beautifully arranged. However, how about just one single scallop for appetizer, and one 1 oz. slice of beef for entrée? I am not kidding! The main course is just a piece of braised beef the size of a tuna sashimi! Ridiculous. Our entire party left Trevese HUNGARY. It’s not we can’t afford to eat at fine establishments. But you should get what you paid for. What Trevese did was unforgivable — cashing in and ripping off customers on special occasions. We were very willing to place our pocket and trust in them for a great time. Instead, we felt like fools leaving Trevese with and empty wallet, and ½ empty stomach.

The World According to Noelle ~Allergic Girl’s Guide to Life~ Issue 265 A Noelle Favorite =) It was a dark, cold fall evening and it was slightly misting outside. We approached the beautiful Victorian Mansion where Trevese now occupies for our Sunday Dinner. There was a lovely glow of lights coming out of the restaurant. Upon entering we were greeted graciously by the hostess. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our table for two was at the front of the Victorian near the windows. Inside one will note the hardwood floors, the dim lights, warm glow of the candle that is set on each table, dark wood paneling and overall contemporary yet stylish design. Looking at the menu He asked if I wanted to share a starter. I replied no because I was allergic to all the starters. He asked if I wanted to do the six course tasting menu. I had to decline because I was allergic to most of the items on the tasting menu(even doing simple substitutes would almost rewrite the original six courses). Our wait person was extremely friendly and listened attentively to me when I told her what I was allergic to(she even repeated the list to make sure she had it written down correctly). I had my heart set on the braised beef short ribs but they had run out. The bread was delicious it was freshly baked with pumpkin seeds. We also had a dark colored bread which was delicious as well. They also gave us two ‘allergy friendly items specially made by the chef,’ to try. Bryan had the fish which was on a small tortilla the size of a quarter and I had a butternut squash soup with bacon in a miniature mug– which was out of this world delicious. Both Bryan and I ordered for our main course the Mid West Prime New York Steak, sweet potato tot with blue cheese center, mushrooms, spring onions and beans. I ordered mine medium and he ordered his medium rare. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, the mushrooms were melt in your mouth goodness and the green beans were tasty. The sweet potato tot with blue cheese was unimpressive. Before dessert he gave me a gift. Inside the small purple box was a Swarovski necklace with a cross pendant, it was absolutely gorgeous– simple and elegant(he’s so thoughtful). For dessert we shared a chocolate lava cake with a scoop of the most amazing homemade vanilla bean gelato. Without a doubt it was one of the most delicious chocolate lava cakes I’ve ever had in my life. Our choice for dessert drinks– Port and Muscat both of which were wonderful. Our water and my iced tea were constantly refilled. Service was seamless, attentive, friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Trevese earned a 2009 Michelin Star– which is well deserved. Thank you Chef Michael Miller and his wife Therese for opening such an wonderful restaurant in Los Gatos! The dining experience at Trevese is on par with places like The Plantation House Restaurant in Maui or Ritz Carlton– which in the end leaves the restaurant patron extremely happy. Kudos to the Trevese staff you are wonderful. My overall conclusion, Trevese is a great place for any occasion– to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, just because dinner, etc. Undeniably romantic, warm and inviting ambiance, delicious food in an beautiful Queen Ann Style Mansion. Not eating here should be considered a sin. Noelle’s Notes Allergy Friendly, Noelle Approved. Delightfully delicious food. Noelle’s Post Secret

Return visit verdict is in: I still love Trevese and maintain it’s the best restaurant in the South Bay. Since dining here I’ve explored other Los Gatos spots and now revere this city as a top rate for high quality food. I was worried post Michelin star things would change and I wouldn’t like it as much but those concerns were in vain. Highlights: — Duck press box: the shredded duck seemed even more condensed this time and was accompanied by nuts and a wonderful berry sauce. In the center you run into a thin layer of foie gras filling which puts this over the top. Delish with a big capital D. Pic: — Butternut squash soup: velvety like no other – another big winner. Creative points for it coming with a tall shot glass full of an apple concoction whose sweetness and slight effervecence ended up being a good pair to lighten it up, however unconventional those flavors seemed together. — Steak: delicate yet substantial slices of red meat which were oh so juicy and delightful with the jus type sauce. Pretty much steak and potatos with done greens but somehow it managed to be anything but boring. Pic: — Wine flights: we weren’t sure which glass to order so hedged our bets with a trio. 1st cab was immediately drinkable but the latter 2 were dry but when paired with the steak stepped up. — Service: top notch professional with a knowledgable waiter who aided in our choices. — Bread: dense and spongy with an inner filling of camouflaged white cheddar within the spiral opening of a center. — Bar area: nice quiet spot to have an after dinner drink even when dining elsewhere.
Midlights: — Amuse: felt a bit risky combining olives and white chocolate, but as timid as I was to dive in, it wasn’t half bad and got better with each bite. Definitely a salty sweet combo with pureed olives at the base and a layer of white chocolate panna cotta like cap. — Chocolate lava cake: my favorite dessert to have so I’m tough on these. The inside was great, however the exterior was a bit tougher than I would have liked and hard to break into with a fork. Presentation was simple yet stunning served in a deep open white bowl. Pic: I’ve been telling everyone I know about this spot and will continue to do so.

Bar/Lounge Review: I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!(Though I was hesitant to look in the mirror in the washroom just in case I saw more than one odd-looking thing looking back at me). If I didn’t hear about the history behind the building, I would still be impressive with what they’d done with the interior of the place. Hung out at bar area. Ordered the sirloin sliders(which had been recommended to us), and the oysters-on-a-halfshells. The sliders were definitely tasty, with actual non-ground meat, and grilled onions(that were pleasantly sweet). However, being the big boy that I am, I was a bit disappointed that(1) there were only 3 sliders, and(2) the sliders were almost small enough to literally slide down my throat no-chew. The oysters were good… however, given the circumstances(1) We were socializing and therefore couldn’t eat the oysters as soon as they arrived, and(2) The oysters were served on a napkin on a place(sans ice)… the oysters were almost at room temperature by the time we ate them. Tasty(each oyster was topped with a few pearl-sized fish eggs and another topping that I still can’t identify and too lazy to look up on their menu online — assuming they have one), but I would definitely have preferred the oysters served in a way to preserve the icy-temperature necessary to provide a ice-cold oyster sliding down my throat feeling that’s key to a good oyster-on-a-half-shell experience. Note: Definitely a «higher-end» restaurant with high-end prices, but I can almost see myself trekking down to the south South Bay to try out their entrees… Oh, the raspberry mojitos they made were tasty too.(No, I’m not a regular mojito drinker, it was a pseudo happy hour special — I am man. Give. Me. Beer.)

My friends and i came here last week. We decided to go to los gatos and just pick a restaurant and we picked Trevese. First they didn’t have any tables for us unless you had reservations, which is understandable since it WAS a saturday. The manager came out as we’re about to leave and told us one of the tables at the lounge area cleared up… so we got seated. For appetizers we got the oysters shooters which was great. We also had the pan fried oysters which were the BEST fried oysters i’ve ever had! My friend got the duck which wasw very sweet and delicious — My sea bass was not the best. not very impressed. I don’t remember what my boyfriend got. over all the service was great, food was not bad. quite $$$ though. not a MUSTGO… but if you’re in the area its a nice setting to go to!

I have not been reviewing many places these days as fellow Unilocalers have provided very accurate(IMO of cours) reviews all over the Bay area and there was not too much for me to add. But this new restaurant is worth writing a review. Trevesa is supposed to rival Manresa.(I was not personally impressed with food at ever-so-hyped Manresa that much.) We went to Trevesa for lunch and had had the $ 30 tasting menu, which includes appetizer, entre and dessert. I had scallops with soba salad for appetizer and grilled salmon for entre. My friend had pan-fried oysters for appetizer and veal cutlet panini sandwich for entre. The food was really amazing(usually lunch menu tends to less impressive as dinner menu at these upscale restaurant) and ingredients were really fresh. The décor and service of the restaurant is also five stars and the outside patio is an added attraction. I hope this place would not be hyped up like others in the neighborhood, such as Manresa and Dio Deka. Expect a follow up when I try their seven dinner tasting menu!

Trevese overflows any 5 star I’ve ever given, right out of the water. On a warm summer evening taking the fresh air in, I walk up the winding brick footpath to the entrance of the Victorian Home with a sigh of beauteous delight as I look around at the eye-pleasing architecture. The yard, so neatly arranged with towering redwood trees, radiant green grass, and purple flowers guiding me to an expecting old fashion entryway, but as I opened the door to my dismay, found a luxurious bold cherry wood entrance that emanate a warm welcoming vibe. We were seated on the front terrace by the hostess. Our waitress was very attentive throughout dinner and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and described each appetizer and entre as they were brought out. I was extremely impressed by the detail she went into about each plate as if she made them herself. The wine selection is massive. As I started scrolling through the book of wine I noticed a table of contents. I thought out loud, this is too advanced for a 24 year old; let’s just ask for advice on this one. No advice needed on the appetizers for we will order all, but one. We started with Scallops, Fried Oysters, Quail, and Prawns, which is all a perfect size for two people. For the main entre try the steak or king salmon, both are delicious. Overall, I have to say my date is what made my night phenomenal, as always. I would certainly recommend Trevese and continue to dine there. Cheers!
