We have family in the Louisa area and we have passed the sign for this place many times. Today we stopped. We started with iced tea and coffee. Both were good. We ordered fried pickles, fried chicken livers, half portion of roast beef open faced sandwich, fried bologna sandwich, and green fried tomatoes. The pickles were very salty, so much so that we couldn’t eat them. The livers were excellent as were the green fried tomatoes. The roast beef sandwich was very good. The fried bologna was good but it needed 2 slices of bologna because you could barely taste it. We also had chocolate peanut butter pie and lemon merrainge pie. The pies are not made on site but were very good. Service was great and everything was clean. Total bill — $ 29.38 not including tip. Four stars because the pickles were too salty.

I am from out of the area, California, actually on the other coast. I looked up this place on line, and I said better than the chain fast food or chain restaurants. WOW, friendly, great food, reasonably priced. Try the fried apples, OMG that was Goo… d! We raced to get there in time, they closed at 3:00pm. We use to live near Louisa when I was a child and it was great to find a place like this still is still around. Down home cooking, Down Home Grill.
