Since I purchased the plan that gives me free eye exams for 3 years, I felt that I needed to return to get my money’s worth. My first visit a year ago was not great, but I could handle going back. My second visit was worse. No one seemed too interested in me from the moment I walked in the door. To a certain degree, I can handle that. But when the optometrist, whom I consider to be a professional, acts as if he would rather be anywhere but in that office, I really want to run out of there. I wondered if maybe he was just really sad that day. But when I returned for a followup exam a week later, he was the same… seeming to be rushing me through, never smiled, not friendly at all. I, too, am a professional, and it was a good reminder to me about the importance of a good attitude and a smile whenever I see my own patients. I doubt I will return. I would at least like a friendly face wherever I go. I guess that costs extra.

When it comes to costumer service, these guys are the absolute worst. My dad went there because of the good deals they offer for a pair of glasses. On his appointment day he called me because he needed my help(he’s a bit elderly and people can’t understand him that well) when I got there I asked the receptionist(who is probably the only nicest person in that building) where my dad was, she directed me to his room. When I got Into the room my dad was being helped by a lady conducting his pre-exam who was very clearly impatient with my dad, she rushed him through the last 2 exams and wasn’t clear to my dad as to what she wanted him to do. We were then told to wait for the optometrist, he didn’t make the experience any better for my dad, he was too rushing through the exams, wasn’t patient, wasn’t clear, when I had to explain to my dad what he wanted he would just sigh and get irritated… He told us to schedule the appointment for later and said my dad would not get charged for he exam that day and just sent us on our way. The receptionist still charged my dad(obvious lack of communication). Long story short… If you wanna properly take care of your vision, go with other people. Not them.

Polite receptionist but that’s where the good service ends. The optometrist flew through my check up as if there were 1000 other patients in the waiting room he had to get to – there was in fact only 1. I was in the room for maybe 10 minutes and before I could even answer his questions he was asking the next one. I had a concern and he immediately dismissed it. Not happy at all, will be going elsewhere next time.

Very unorganized. Non dedicated employees(they, including the optometrist, couldn’t give a care about customer service. Chaotic atmosphere. Avoid them.

I went there because they advertised 2 pairs of glasses for the price of one. The amount of money I paid was about as much as I have spent on other places for two pairs. They are in no way a low cost eye glasses place. Also they tell you the glasses will be in the store for pickup in 7 days but it is actually 10 or so days before you get the glasses. The people that work there are nice enough but Its not really worth the money to go to them over someone closer to your house. As stated they are not a bad store I just drove across town to get get glasses that were lower cost. My glasses for 2 pairs came to over $ 600 that is not low cost in my books.

Without vision insurance, this was a necessary option for me. I seldom write reviews, and when I do, they are generally positive. With any business, I feel like the good in things is sadly overshadowed by short tempers and petty complaints. I have spent many years in the service industry myself, and therefore strive to treat all service staff with patience, kindness, and understanding. Perhaps this is why I found management and staff here to be exceptionally kind. However, my overall abhorrent experience with America’s Best *ahem* Worst has driven me to post this critical review. PROS: Management and staff(technicians, desk clerk, etc.) were amazingly friendly, and sensitive to my questions and needs. CONS: I got the overall impression that this business is not run at the discretion of staff, but rather at the demands of a profit-driven corporate office. I was sweet-talked into the extra peripheral vision test against my will, even though it was beyond my budget and was something I explicitly said«no» to at least four or five times. The full-time optometrist, unlike the staff, was both inaccurate and unfriendly. I have been wearing glasses for nearly 20 years, and contacts for over 15. I know my eyes and prescription trends. Yes, I expect changes. But I don’t expect that my eyes will suddenly improve to the strength that they were years ago. When I noticed that my contact lens prescription had oddly improved, I kindly inquired about the change. The optometrist first retorted, then reluctantly shoved a pair of sample lenses across the counter at me, saying,“It’s fine. Wear whatever you want.” Fortunately, even management caught wind of this without my saying anything, and worked to correct it. My follow-up optometrist seemed only to care about selling me things, including laser eye surgery and a $ 165 duct-cleansing procedure for a condition that could be corrected with a warm compress. At least he got my contact prescription right after three tries. My first appointment took THREEHOURS. I then needed THREE follow-up appointments(thank goodness at no charge) to correct errors made in the first visit. These appointments totaled an additional FOURHOURS. Four appointments, seven hours in the office, six weeks from start to finish… and my eyeglass prescription was still incorrect, reflecting the way my eyes used to be back in 2002. CONCLUSION: I gave the office two stars because staff and management were so friendly, and because prices were so affordable. I also hold out faith that it is possible for others to have a better experience here. Nonetheless, you get what you(don’t) pay for. It’s a shame that my budget sent me here. When all was said and done, I took my prescription and ran, ordering contacts online. Later, a follow-up with a different optometry company found my America’s Best eyeglass prescription to indeed be grossly incorrect.
