If you are as old as me, perhaps you remember bumbling around Myst and Riven, never really solving any puzzles, but enjoying the scenery. Well, Breakout is NOTHING like that. Yes, there are puzzles, but you will likely be able to solve 75% of them(and many people finish the whole bunch). And there’s not many expansive views, since you’re stuck in a room with boarded-over windows. But if you bought Myst thinking you COULD solve the puzzles and that you might enjoy solving them, then Breakout is the experience for you. A deceptively sparse set-up, the room contains many interesting puzzles that require both physical and mental ingenuity. You’re never really alone, as Big Brother(or Joshua, in our case) is watching, ready to help you if you need it. Our group got stuck a couple of times and required clues, but that was an issue of overthinking as opposed to clue set-up. But overall, it’s up to you, your friends, and whatever strangers they stick in your room to figure things out. This is the second escape room I’ve done and the first in Louisville. While the rooms weren’t as fancy here in Louisville(the DC room I did looked like a genuine study out of the 1800’s), the puzzles were better designed and there were a lot of electronic elements I didn’t see in DC. It was fun to have a few scares added on to the high energy created by the reducing clock. I can’t wait to come back and tackle another room. The only unfortunate issue with Breakout is that they currently only have five puzzles and they can’t be repeated(I mean, I don’t think there’s a rule against it, but why bother?). It looks like they’re constantly adding rooms, but eventually they will run out of space. When your friends have done half the puzzles and you’ve done the other half, you’ll run into issues putting groups together. But until I reach that point, I’ll definitely be convincing my friends to join me to solve another room.

My coworkers(5) and I went to breakout Louisville for the first time… we didn’t know much about it. We did the island adventure room. I can’t give details but they lock you in a room… you use clues to breakout! It was so much fun! We really had a great time and it is truly a bonding experience where you have to work together. I would love to go back!

My wife and I had a great time at Breakout Louisville. We played The Kidnapping and with our gamemasters help managed to get out by the skin of our teeth. Great time and we can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic adventure! Brilliantly masterminded! My family was only steps away from the code. We underestimated the complexity of the adventure and are looking forward to the next game.

One of the coolest experiences of my life! I love the game clue and puzzles and this was like living in the game! We went with another couple and then was grouped with two other couples. We plan on trying all the themes they have to offer and have looked into doing them in our home town. So much fun!

So much fun! I’m sure you’ve heard all the hype about this new interactive game fad. Well, Breakout Games lives up to the hype. Seriously, this is some of the most fun you can have in an hour. If you haven’t heard, a breakout game is basically one elaborate, interactive puzzle. You are placed in a room from which you have to breakout in under an hour. During the hour, you find clues, puzzles, codes, etc. throughout the room which help you breakout. At this location, there are three possible scenarios to choose from, with a fourth coming soon. The Kidnapping; the Museum Heist; and Casino Royale. My family played the Casino Royale mission. Each game has 8 available spots. My family was able to fill all the spots, but it’s important to note that the signup is open to the public. You are not booking a private room for an hour(unless you booked all 8 slots). If you’re a couple or small group, there’s a chance you’ll be completing the mission with strangers. Not a problem; just something to know. For me, it was extra-fun to be able to play the breakout game with people I knew. It’s an excellent team building exercise. You have to work together and utilize different skills to solve the clues. The concept is not easy. If we had not had all 8 of our brains working together, we would not have solved it. The props and setup of the game are really cool. There were a ton of unexpected surprises and high-tech aspects. The clues led us to do things that really made us feel like secret agents. We were able to breakout of our game in 57 minutes. You should go into knowing it’s possible that you won’t breakout. They told us the Casino Royale only has a 37% success rate, so we were pretty proud. For the next hour after the game, we couldn’t stop talking about how much fun we had. This is something you should definitely put on your must-do list. A few«cons» to be aware of… 1) At $ 24/person, it’s not cheap. If you’re just paying for yourself or a couple, it’s not too bad. But if you’re planning to book all the slots, that makes it around $ 200 for the hour. That puts it in the category of «special occasion.» This isn’t the type of thing you can do all the time anyway, which leads me to 2) This service has a very finite lifespan. 3 or 4 visits from a customer. After you’ve exhausted all the scenarios, there’s no fun in going back. So if you really love playing these games, you won’t be able to do them long term. And lastly 3) My group talked about how if we hadn’t broken out, we might have left feeling a little disappointed. After our success, we left ecstatic and raved about how much we loved it. I’ve talked to people who haven’t broken out, and they still loved it and said they had so much fun. So no biggie. Again, these are just some things that came to my mind throughout our experience. Not necessarily problems at all. A breakout game is an extremely fun way to spend in hour and spend time with your family/friends in the process. I highly recommend everyone play a game.

This was so MUCH fun! I have now completed all the available scenarios, and now I don’t know what to do with myself. Basically, you have 1 hour to «break out» of the room and complete the objective for the scenario and each scenario is different. This is a nerdy adult activity that I want to come back and do again and again. It is a great team building activity too and we learned so much about each other under pressure together. This has become our birthday activity for me and my friends this year. We started off with the kidnapping scenario, and were really not sure what to expect. We were captured by the kidnapper and had to break out of the room before he came to get us! We were so impressed with the puzzles, riddles, and clues we had to use in order to break out of the room. We did the Museum Heist next, and had to break into an art collector’s home to recover the original paintings. This was the hardest scenario, but in my opinion, the best one. It was so much fun, and so intriguing to figure out the puzzles, riddles, and clues together. Finally, tonight, we did the last current available scenario, Casino Royale. We had to save secret agent 007 before the Syndicate got to us. It was so much fun. I’m so impressed with how well done the rooms are done and how well the game masters handle the scenarios. Lastly, I can’t wait until the last scenario opens up! You should definitely check it out with a group of friends!

My granddaughter wanted to go here to celebrate her 13th birthday with friends. I was a bit hesitant at first when she described what was involved as she wanted to be kidnapped. Sounded kind of bizarre and a little much for such young kids but, she assured me it was no big deal and as described by her friends it was going to be fun. So I agreed and dropped them off there for their party. When I picked them up afterwards they would not stop for a breath they were so excited. It has been a week and she has still not stopped talking about the adventure. Although they did not«Breakout’ in the allotted time, they had an absolute ball and according to the group it was the most fun time ever. It is safe and well supervised. If you are looking for a «party idea» this might just be the place.

For $ 24/person, Breakout Louisville allows you to escape to a fantasy world full of danger and mystery. You’ll have to solve puzzles, decipher clues and work together with as team to escape from your chosen scenario(in a locked room) in one hour. You can choose from four different scenarios 1) Casino Royale 2) The Kidnapping 3) The Heist 4) Island Escape: Coming soon. Read about it on the website. The room is decorated to give a realistic feel of your chosen scenario. Anything in the room can be used as clues to solve the puzzle, so keep your eyes open. Some clues are more challenging than others but completely doable with some effort. Your effort will be worth it in the end, as the clever clues and room set up will reveal a lot of fun surprises. A great rainy day activity and family/team building exercise.
