Greetings. Last nite I ate supper here. I ordered Quesidilla Verde. It was in an open shell just barely grilled with shredded chicken inside that also had peppers and something else. No sauce or cheese covering. Talk about bland! It came with guacamole that maybe had sawdust added. Did not taste like real fresh guacamole. The meal deserved to be returned but I said nothing. $ 7.95. So then my friend and I go to the register to settle up and a six or seven year old girl checked us out my friend with credit card and I with cash. It was kinda cute – but ridiculous and unprofessional. What a waste of my time and money.

Not very good, fairly bland food. Everyone in our party had had other Mexican food that they preferred to this place.

Consistently good food and service. I mostly go during lunch, and the quick service is greatly appreciated. Building Is nothing fancy, but the place is nice and clean, and decorated well.

Fantastic Mexican food. Went right after lunch rush time and the place still had a few people! As soon as we came in they had chips and salsa for us. We we’re serve super quickly, within 8 minutes of ordering! The food was delicious. I ordered the Carnitas and they where very moist and tender. Very cheap prices to, I only paid $ 10 with tip for the food. Another great find, thanks to Unilocal

This place looks like a bit of a dive as it has a damaged sign out front and is rather unimpressive from the outside. The inside is also rather dive-y as they have inflated beer items that need more frequent dusting than they get. HOWEVER, the food is spectacular, the best we’ve found in L’ville in 5 years of trying every Mexican rest. we could. So far, after about 6 visits, it’s been quite consistent as well. If you like pork carnitas, you MUST try theirs — they are moist and so tasty, and they serve a GINORMOUS portion. We always have leftovers and get at least one more meal from the meat. We have had the same waiter every time and he is very conscientious and friendly. Unfortunately, he has started wearing copious amounts of MUSK, for some unknown reason, and he should be made aware that it does not go well with the food ATALL!!! That is such an obnoxious cologne in the first place, but it does not belong in any kind of restaurant. Our last visit this past week, we had delish pork carnitas and enjoyed also the PICODEGALLO, which they make fresh every day — much better than the run-of-the-mill table salsas, but when we went to the register to pay, no one appeared to notice or care. The owner, in a neck brace, was over on the far side of the rest. coloring with a child(grandchild, maybe?), saw us and returned to his coloring. His wife saw us as well, and I thought, «Well, she’ll come over and help us!» but no, she sat down at a computer and studiously ignored us. I think we could’ve walked right out and no one would’ve noticed for a while! EVENTUALLY someone in the kitchen saw us and sent a guy out to the register. Except for that, I would’ve given five stars for this review.

After reading everyone’s comments, being from out of town, I selected this place to experience some fajitas. Steak, of course. The chips and salsa were good(not spectacular, I’m more a fan of a thinner chip than the thicker ones here, they lacked salt, so had to salt them up a lot, but that isn’t a big deal). The salsa itself was really good(the hot, didn’t try the mild). The steak fajitas hit the spot, I had the dinner portion and it was well piled on with meat, onions and peppers. I certainly didn’t leave hungry. The reason for the knock off of a star was the service. While adequate, it wasn’t what I expected(I came in middle of afternoon, three other parties there, not exactly a heavy load). Never asked if the meal was OK and I had to flag him down to get another set of shells. And … slightly worse … his cologne was overpowering(so, sort of a blessing he didn’t come around a lot…). If I had to pick between here and my home town Jose Peppers, well, Jose Peppers would win. Locally, though, I’d probably return here as the salsa is great and the portion size is good too.

Love El Tarasco! The chicken flautas are amazing. Great service, super fast and always friendly. Have to admit I tried El Nopal across the street and will never eat there again. They don’t compare to El Tarasco :)

Are you kidding me? My daughter & I went here on our ‘date night’ bc we’re new to the area & wanted to check out something local. Saw the 4⁄5 ratings & decides to give it a shot. Everything on our combination platter looked & tasted the same. Soooo bland & yuck, to include a long, white unidentified object in the chicken enchilada. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is bc the chips & salsa were great as well as friendly service. We’ll be going back to El Caporal on Bardstown Rd.

Good Mexican food. Had a chile relleno, with taco and enchilada and sides of beans and rice. The entire dish was flavorful and tasty. Would come back again if i lived in the area.

Why are you so delicious? Seriously? What are you putting in your food because there is no logical explanation for this madness. The mushroom quesadilla is so tasty I would honestly order it as my last meal before death. No joke. The food amount is obscene, like, to the point I feel almost naughty eating as much as I do. Seriously, someone needs to investigate this. The staff is friendly as hell, too. Something smells fishy… maybe its the fish tacos.

My Husband and I LOVE El Tarasco! We first started out going to the one on New Cut, but after moving to the East End of the city, we started going to the one in St. Matthews. Both are DELICIOUS! The chips are always warm and we can never get enough of the salsa. The food is always correct and doesn’t take that long to come out to you. The servers are always very nice to us and make sure we have everything we need. Also, My husband usually orders a beer when we eat there, and I usually get a Peach daiquiri. When I order the smaller size, they always bring me the extra left over from making it as well, so you actually get more than what you order/pay for. If you order the larger size ITISHUGE!!! We recommend any couple stopping for a nice dinner together to try the fajitas for two. We order it often, you get A LOT of food, more than enough for 2 people, and the price can not be beat!

I have been here several times and I have always received the best service. In fact, I rate this restaurant # 1 when it comes to service. While I may have had service elsewhere that was a better(over-the-top, sugary-good service), I rank this one so high because the service is consistently, sincerely, good. They have a large menu of affordable combinations, entrees, etc. I spend, on average, $ 10-$ 15, including tip. UPDATE: As a recent-turned-vegetarian, I am pleased to see a good handful of meatless items on the menu. I’ve loved this place for so long and I was afraid that would change with the new diet… but it has not. While a several items will cheese and bean you to death, they still have a few options beyond that. I love the Vegetarian Fajita. The restaurant has mostly booth seating, which I love. This restaurant, which is in an old Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, is just the right size. It is well lit and decorated with flag streamers, neon, and other Mexican décor. Though the place appears to have been around the block a few times, it is clean(again, it’s a «hole-in-the-wall»). The exterior was completely repainted in the summer of 2008. I can’t rate the restrooms because, I have somehow managed to never use them. UPDATE: The interior has been updated as well(2011). The dining area has been repainted and expanded(the side of the kitchen must’ve been reduced a little). It looks good and it’s nice to see the owner’s investing in their restaurant. This place will not make you say«Wow!!,» but I think anyone(who likes Mexican food) will enjoy his/her visit… and want to return). This place is good for singles, friends, couples, families… everyone.

Went there this weekend for my birthday. I really wanted to give more stars., But the food was generally not what I wanted. The salsa is INCREDIBLE though and you must always ask for extra. The guacamole is awesome as well., Service was good though.

My family & friends go here often, and though it may not look it at first glance, this place is excellent. Try the chicken nachos if in doubt!
