Love the food. Not a fan of the building and layout… It’s uncomfortably close dining. But if that doesn’t bother you then all is well.

I have read all the other reviews on here and the consensus is the same. I really like the food. I have ordered everything on the menu through out my visit I can say that met review is the most thorough than others that had 1 or 2 visits. There are some bland items. They I believe were made bland on purpose so as to appeal to a wider crowd. Other items are fantastic. I.e. key lime pancakes. The Kentucky omelet that you choose ingredients is marvelous. Go for the food and atmosphere. All that being said, the service is inconsistent at best. I have had lacksidaisial service most the time, although the last time I had excellent service in contrast. Hint: sit at the bar. Now with the new area opened up it will get better on wait times. Although the location is perfect they need a bigger building and to fire a few select waitstaff and this place will be a winner all around. down side very small and you eat uncomfortably close to your neighbor

Poor service, very mediocre food: Highland Morning is not worth the wait. When my boyfriend and I stopped in for brunch this afternoon, the first thing we noticed was how packed this restaurant is. Expect to bump(and be bumped by) people from the moment you enter the building, while you eat, when you get up to go to the bathroom, and when you leave. Highland Morning tries to cram as many people into the room as possible; it will be loud and hard to talk. This is no exaggeration: the waiter sat us at a side table. A table setting that would be intimate for two Barbie dolls. Not for grown human people. One square foot of space per person with condiments and sugar packets standing precariously at the rim of the table. We had to wait a long time for food. When it came, the food was very ‘meh.’ My english muffin was dry and tasted like something I could have bought from Kroger a week ago. I ordered the«special» «strawberry shortcake» grits for extra. It was plain grits topped with that artificial strawberry sauce that you used to pour into your milk. It basically had the flavor profile of a Jolly Rancher. The mushroom omelette I had was okay. It was a rubbery glop of egg with button mushrooms and topped with string-cheese quality mozzarella. Yum? I will avoid this place in the future.

If you come on a Saturday or Sunday morning yes it will be crowded so you either come early or come late. During the week though it’s easy to find a spot. I love it here! The service is fast most of the time and the food is great. I just had the Crab cakes Benedict — which is new — and they were delicious! They use a chipotle hollandaise which adds the right amount of spice. The crab cakes can stand on their own and he English muffin was toasted for the right amount of crunch. Would definitely get them again.

Everything on the menu looked tempting… literally. Everything. I loved the omelet I ordered, and our server Donnette suggested that I get a buttermilk biscuit as my bread choice and order a side of their famous gravy. So good! I would definitely recommend this place!

Highland Morning is a little breakfast joint that falls perfectly between a dive and upscale. The servers were polished, but had character. The food selection was traditional, but with a few twists. The building was clean and minimal, but with interesting wall art and photos. To put it another way, I felt like I was having breakfast at the house of a hip, put together friend; a friend who happens to make the most giant pancakes I’ve ever seen. I opted for The Classic, which is two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, and toast, English muffin, or a biscuit. The eggs were perfect: scrambled nice and fluffy. I also got a «side order» pancake. I use quotations because the pancake alone was enough for a meal. My dining companions got the baked potato omelet, Baja Benedict, and ultimate veggie omelet. I only had enough room in my tummy to sample the former two, and they were delicious. If I find myself back here again, I’m going for the baked potato omelet. If you are looking for a casual breakfast and good service at a reasonable price, Highland Morning is a safe bet. Just make sure you have someone to share the pancake with.

Bubbly! Perfect word to describe our server and service. I love«Artsy» «Eclectic» restaurants. The tattoos and bright red stained lips of some of the crew screams REALPEOPLE of all creeds eat here! It was proven just by the various caliber of people who came through the door. Now the food… The Baja Benedict was unbelievably delicious. If you love to try something different and can embrace your inner«foodie» try this. Corn cakes topped with scrambled eggs w/cheese, pico, sliced avacado, and drizzled with lime crema… how could I forget the Chipotle Hollandaise Sauce?! It leaves you trying to gather all of the flavors in one bite which is a bit of a task. Each bite showcases a flavorful burst. Kentucky Pick 3 Omelet as always allows one to be creative as to what they want it to be filled with… jaw smacking buttermilk biscuits was the choice of bread. Our server mentioned they won an award for their gravy which made me say BRINGIT!(Literally did a small happy dance as the announcement was made.) I may be wrong however I want to believe the gravy base is light cream. I know butter is used, due to the fact some started settling at the top. I just want to say it was silky with small non threatening pieces of sausage through out. Pepper is present but not overpowering. I see why they won an award. Please take time to visit this gem of Louisville, KY. They are on my radar the next time I visit.

And I thought IHop was good. This place is the bomb! They put a different spin on pancakes, waffles and French toast. Delish! And huge portions! Particularly the pancakes. We’re coming back, next time in Louisville. But I think we may order differently, kind of like what we do in Chinese restaurants: several different items to share. If weather is conducive, sit outside. Despite a packed restaurant, service is quick and cordial.

Friendly staff offers fast service. Food is delicious and filling. I orederd the«Wake me up. omelet», which is a three-legged omelet stuffed with chorizo, jalapenos, bell peppers, onions and pepper jack chese. It’s topped with queso fundido, Chipotle sour cream, Pico de Gallo and green onions. Also had a pancake on the side. The pancake was really.good. It had a slightly crispy outer layer and soft interior. I will continue to eat here and check out their other menu options.

As my tagline says, I love nothing more than finding a new favorite place every day. Highland Morning makes the cut for me as just one such place. Start your morning right with a visit here. Whether you’re craving breakfast food in the form of eggs, omelets, pancakes, or waffles, or you want to veer towards a midday meal with salad, soup, sandwiches, and burgers, Highland Morning is sure to have something that will keep you happy. I was in one of those in-between moods when I went recently. Did I want the breakfast burrito, or the bestselling baja benedict? Or, was I going to go for the one-eyed Jack burger, or the Cherokee Triangle Club? Then again, the salads sounded virtuously delicious, and a wrap might be the thing to hit the spot. It was a tossup right up until the waitress came outside to take our order.(Yes, outdoor seating is available — another favorite adjunct to my dining experiences). Thankfully, Highland Morning made my decision easier by offering a half and half option: any combination of 2 from a cup of soup, small salad, or half sandwich. I decided on half of a BLT avocado sandwich and(continuing the California theme begun with the avocado), a small Hotel California salad. It turned out to be the perfect meal! I deconstructed my sandwich so that I could enjoy the toasted bread with some of the whipped butter that came with my companion’s meal. Without the bread, the textures of crispy bacon, juicy tomato, and creamy avocado mingled together, complemented by the satisfying crunch of the mixed greens of my salad. As far as tastes were concerned, sweet candied pecans perfectly countered the tang of creamy blue cheese and spicy balsamic vinaigrette. Don’t hesitate to make your next morning a Highland Morning, and you might also find a new favorite place too!

Pros: –food comes quickly considering how busy they always are –something for everyone on the menu –grits of the day are always fun and different(I had Chicken Quesadilla) –portions are great for the price –decent coffee that you can purchase for your own coffee maker Cons: –almost always a wait but no where to really stand to wait unless you are on the sidewalk –tight space –tables are small and right up against eachother

So first off, I’m usually the person one at a table to ask if someone wants to share plates(order two different dishes so you can try both!) But sometimes, in some places, this rule goes out the window. Highland Morning’s Baja Benedict does that to me. It’s not that other options couldn’t be just as good too, it’s just that this meal is that fantastic, every single time. Plus I’m a savory over sweet kinda breakfast gal. And no matter how hard I try, I can’t replicate this at home. Pro tip: Sunday mornings are probably the most popular day. If you put your name in, there is often a quick turn around. Head to Day’s Coffee next door for a sit down and some caffeine — you probably need it anyway and Highland Morning doesn’t care if you bring your coffee cup in when they call you back over.

If you haven’t had the biscuits and gravy from Highland Morning yet, then you’re seriously missing out! Everyone of my friends that I’ve taken there always gets at least a half order as an appetizer to their breakfast because they’re that good! Buttery, flaky biscuits in a creamy-smooth sausage gravy… It’s a little piece of heaven on earth! For those of us who can’t eat gluten(womp womp) do not dispar! For the grits and the ever changing«grits of the day» are always a delicious treat! I’ve had sweet grits(fruit with cinnamon sugar) and I’ve had savory grits(bacon, peppers and cheese) and ALL of them were delicious! Their omelettes and breakfast scrambles are good as well! The best thing this restaurant ever did was expand into the building next door! They definitely needed the space! If you have a visitor coming from out of town, take them to Highland Morning! You all won’t leave disappointed!

So, if you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you know by now I practically get a high talking about how much I love brunch. I mean, it’s the best meal there is. This place did not disappoint. We wandered in here on a dreary Saturday morning. I ordered the Dutch Apple pie waffles. I’ve never had such delicious waffles. I couldn’t stop raving about them. They are a pretty busy restaurant, & there is no room to wait. They asked us to wait at the coffee shop next door, which I found a bit odd. But, nice to see that the coffee shop & Highland Morning could give each other a little bit of clientele? Service was nice. The food is what’s going to keep us coming back, though.

What a neat place. The breakfast is just really good. They have a variety of items on the menu. If you prefer a traditional breakfast(eggs, bacon, sausage, etc), then they have it. If you prefer something a little bit different, something you probably can get anywhere else, then they have that too. I went with the Baja Benedict. It’s their top seller. Man. What a great item. The eggs are perfect. And I mean perfect. Medium poached, sitting on top of Southwest Corncakes(which is like a cornbread that has a «Southwest» flavor to it). Fantastic. The sauces combined with the potatoes and the corncakes with eggs… It really is a fantastic option. I don’t feel like it was worth the $ 20plus that I paid for it, for my wife and I. I mean, I really enjoy the place. I like the atmosphere, how busy it is, the food, the location… I was just surprised by the bill. I could eat a lot of breakfast places and be equally as satisfied for cheaper. And I suppose this is the one thing keeping it from receiving a 5 star review. I will definitely be back, though. Like it that much.

So I have been to Highland Morning a total of 3 times now and I was hoping this time would be different. It wasn’t. The location is perfect. The décor is pretty cool. The servers are friendly. The food… not so much. Each time I have dined here I’ve felt like the food I ordered was not really the food I ordered. The presentation is not great, but the taste and quality are the real problems. I have ordered a variety of dishes and they have all left me wishing I had tried something else, or gone to one of the many other hot spots for brunch in Louisville. The pricing is reasonable so you won’t leave hungry or broke. Maybe just not satisfied.

Excellent breakfast! I’m an avid Wild Eggs fan, but my bestie and I decided to avoid the long wait on Sunday around 11:00 and try something new. We ended up at Highland Morning and I’m so glad we did. We arrived around 11:00 — prime Sunday brunch time — and were seated right away. Great! However, and this is my only complaint, this place is small and JAM-PACKED with tables. It was a maze trying to get to our table. To give you an idea, we went one direction only to discover there wasn’t enough room for us to squeeze through two guests, so we turned around and went completely around the restaurant before we made it to our destination. That’s fine. The real problem is that the tables are so close together you feel like you are literally sitting at the same table as the people next to you. In fact, I could tell you all about the first date that was happening next to us(it didn’t seem to be going well). There’s definitely no intimacy at these tables. Aside from the cramped quarters, this place is awesome! Our server was friendly, quick, and prompt. We placed our orders. We both wanted the«Wake Me Up Omelet» and we wanted to split a small order of biscuits and gravy. When we ordered this, our served suggested that, since our meal comes with a biscuit, we could just order a side of gravy for $ 2 to split. We did that and it worked out perfectly. It’s so nice(and rare) when servers go out of their way to save you money. Our food came out surprisingly quickly. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. Probably the best I’ve had. My omelet and skillet potatoes were equally as good. The omelet had excellent flavor combinations. I ate every bite on my plate. Highland Morning is a must-try, and a great addition to my breakfast repertoire. I’ll be back and can’t wait to try more dishes from the menu.
