Whenever I’m in my old stomping ground I have to stop here. The chicken strips are amazing. Seasoned to perfection and large and juicy. They are not stingy on dipping sauces but the chicken is so good you really don’t need to dunk it. Wedges are fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The green beans are just like grandma makes. Oh and the biscuits — oh man are they good! Flaky and tender. There’s no fluff here. You walk in and place your order and take your tray to the simple dining area but who needs fancy environment when the food is so good. The line moves fast and the cashier calls out your order like a boss so it’s done fast and right.

I know this is a chain and I generally stay away from those but the Lee’s location on Lower Brownsboro is great! The chicken is always fresh and juicy and the skin is crispy like I like it. The only complaint I have is that the side portions are a little small, but other than that this place rocks. If you need your fried chicken fix and you need it fast look no further!

As far as fast food and chicken goes, this location is the best! On top of fat and friendly service, they have the most witty sayings on their sign out front.

So, how excited was I to be eating Kentucky fried chicken in Kentucky? Pretty excited, let me tell you. I was expecting mind numbingly greasy fried goodness and what I got was a bargain bucket of mediocre. Everything was meh, from the service to the sides to the chicken itself. I should have just gone to a KFC.

I had to make a quick trip last week back to my place of birth, and when I think Kentucky, I think«fried chicken». A quick online search for«best fried chicken in Louisville» and Lee’s popped up. I have to say, it was a really nice surprise. Lee’s looks like any other fast food joint in this town, but the fried chicken was absolutely outstanding. If I recall, there were three options for the fried chicken and I went with the original or classic. I ordered the«snack» which was a leg and thigh and biscuit. The chicken was incredibly moist and tender and it was fried to a golden, crispy goodness. Frankly, it reminded me of how KFC used to be, many eons ago. I cannot vouch for anything other than the chicken. I did not get a chance to eat the biscuit. Next time I am in town, this place will be on my rotation.

I love chicken. You love chicken. We all love chicken. When something is good, what does it taste like? F%$#ing chicken, that’s what! However, if you’ve ever had LEE’S you might find yourself wondering if the phrase should be altered a bit to reflect this better tasting version of the bird. Founded by the business partner of Col. Sanders, LEE’s chicken is a much smaller fast food chain. It’s so small in fact that, to this date, I’ve only been to one location, but I hear tale there’s more out there. The chicken is more than finger licking good, after a meal, you might even consider gnawing off an appendage or two. The sides remain unhealthified, with superbly seasoned green beans, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn on the cob and even macaroni & cheese. Oh yeah, the biscuits… sorry… had a moment there. The biscuits might as well be god’s love in an edible form. Forget that nasty wafer at church, this is the bread of heaven. LEE’s is simply a must, Grab a gallon or two of sweet tea if you’re taking it home to the wolf pack. PS Chicken livers and gizzards are still on the menu, I have no idea what a gizzard is… but they taste delicious.
