The food is all consistently really good — the pizzas, the astas, the salads & the sandwiches. Love the Parma and the Stromboli sandwiches the most. Cheese pizza is really good. Have never had any calzones but they’re bound to be good. Be warned: if they decide they don’t like you, they cop a lot of attitude. If they decide the like you, they’ll lay in the middle of Main street to block traffic so you can cross.

Stopped in to have some lasagna… OMG! Olive Garden needs to shut their doors! Very friendly service and a nice little seating area out front on museum row. Price was fair. I wouldn’t have minded paying a few dollars more if I had to… it’s just that good!

This is a solid spot for lunch if you work downtown and want a quick bite to eat. They offer a variety of pasta dishes as well as some pizza slices, calzones and salads. I think they have other lunch offerings but i honestly always go for the pizza. Luigi’s is always fast and efficient and you can always find a seat. It’s a nice change from the normal lunch offerings, especially if you skipped breakfast! On a nice day try to score a table out front on main street to add points to your experience.

We were walking down Main Street after visiting the Louisville Slugger Museum and had to stop because it smelled so good!!! We walked a bit more and turned around. We decided on a slice of cheese pizza each. ITWASSOMEOFTHEBESTPIZZA I HAVEEVERHAD! We loved it… so good in fact we had to order another piece to share. Wish we had a pizza place that good were we live.

Decent and filling pizza! I have to admit I am always a bit skeptical coming from New York on trying pizza but it hit the spot :) Not sure if it was because we went after the lunch rush but the only choices for slices were plain and everything else had sausage.

The Quality of food was great. They do serve the food on disposable plates. The desserts looked heavenly. I didn’t have a chance to try them though. They have an interesting fountain selection which includes Barq’s red cream soda. They also had Blood Orange San Pelegrino which is one of my favorites.

When we tried to order beef as a topping, we were told they didn’t have beef. There are two types of beef on the menu, so I’m not sure why it’s on there if they aren’t going to serve it. We ended up with sausage pizza, which was good.

Went in for lunch. The selection of pre made pizza, pasta and calzones was pretty nice especially if you were in a hurry. They also had salads and desserts ready to go. My pasta was mushy however. I know it can be hard to keep pasta al dente in warmers but, the mushiness was unacceptable. The Stromboli was 85% dough and scarce filler. The pizza slice was the best with a thin crispy crust I do enjoy. The trick here is not to order anything that’s been sitting too long. Although that sounds obvious, hunger and presentation clouded my judgement. Although I didn’t consider this visit a success, I would like to give them another try with fresher offerings.

Sadly, this review is not about the food because I was misled and not allowed to order food. My sister and I were hungrily strolling through downtown. I spotted this place and wanted to try it. It was about 10:15 in the morning. Two of Luigi’s Pizzeria signs in the front stated they opened at 7. A pizza joint that opens at 7 in the morning? Awesome! We walked through the front door that was propped open and were surprised to see nobody else was there but us. We picked up the brochure menu at the front counter, which stated the opening hour of the restaurant was 8 on weekdays. There was a large man standing behind the counter making food. He did not address us for a few minutes until we spoke up and said we were ready to order. «We’re not open!,» he grunted grumpily. «Do you see that the counter is not filled with food?!» Not open? The two signs in the front stated they opened at 7 and the brochure said they opened at 8. Even their front door was propped wide open. All these signs led me to believe that they were open for business. I looked at the counter and there was some food, but not all the platters and trays were filled. My sister apologized because we thought they were open. Then she asked if there was another place nearby that was open for business because we were hungry and new to the area. The guy acted like we were bothering him and did not respond in a friendly way. «I don’t know. Walk along the street!» By this time, this little old man popped his head out of the kitchen window and spoke to the large guy. I don’t know what they were saying because they weren’t speaking English. But the guy behind the counter must’ve said it was nothing because the old man poked his head back and I didn’t see him again. So my sister and I walked out a bit confused and thrown off by this guy’s hostility and the restaurant’s misleading signs. I then took pictures of the signs outside the door. My sister was so pissed about that guy’s rudeness that she went back in the restaurant to tell him to change his sign. Instead of apologizing for the signs or acknowledging that they were wrong, he proceeded to yell at my sister about how she needed to get out because they were closed. My sister then yelled back at him while I stood at the open door because all this yelling wasn’t getting food in my belly. There is no way I’d ever eat here.

Not a bad place for a slice, but they use the microwave to heat up the calzones making the dough tough as it cools.

A nice little place just down the street from the Louisville bat factory. Good pizza, not great, but don’t pass it up if you’re nearby. The desserts, calzones, and strombolis all looked fantastic… maybe on the next trip.

Staff was really nice and the pizza was above average but not like amazing. I’d say its like a classy Sbarro pizza. It’s really good, but it’s not AMAZING pizza. The restaurant was really clean except for a couple annoying flies buzzing around. The pizza could of been a little quicker however.

The best pizza you will taste in Kentucky. I am from the east coast and this is the closest that you will find to there. Here they hand toss your pizza. We see Luigi there making pizzas most times we stop in.

Probably the best pizza available in Kentucky! It’s much better if you get it fresh rather than take-out. The pizza is made right when you order it. Everything is fresh and delicious. Their pastas are also really good.

Just had Luigi’s pizza delivered at work, and it is the best pizza I have had since moving back to the states. I lived in Tuscany for 6 years and it tastes just like the pizza that my grandfather made in his own pizzeria. Will have to go back and try the other menu items.

We were searching out an Italian place to eat after visiting the Louisville Slugger Museum. We walked a block down and found Luigi’s. A lot like a «fast food» setup would be, you order your food and sit at any table you choose. I had trouble figuring out the menu when arriving, but eventually found on rack by salads area. There was also a small listing of a menu on wall, but majority was not listed. One nice feature was that they listed calorie counts of food. We had the stromboli and cheese pizza. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you receive, but it was delicious. Other than size, my only complaint for stromboli is that all of e ingredients are in middle and the outside ends of the Stromboli are very crisp and not holding any food. Also was no pasta being served when we came. Apparently not an option on the weekend. Overall for a quick Italian meal, it was a good choice, but do not go out of your way for it.

So… I ate lunch at Proof at 12:30…but the chilled soup I ordered was super strange and the salad lack luster and a bit too tart. I didn’t eat much. Almost three hours later I was(still) hungry. Walking around in the 100 degree heat I thought I was beginning to see and smell a pizza mirage. But no, it was no mirage. It was Luigi’s! With a tiny gelato cart outside, natch. In I went for a crispy, greasy(giant) slice of cheese and a small gelato. Was it the best pizza I’ve consumed? Hardly. But I’ll tell you, it certainly filled the gaping hole of the lunch that was missing from Proof. And while my meal at Luigi’s was certainly cheaper than that of Proof, I still found it pricey for what I received. But hey, I took my slice and small cup of gelato and mowed it down. Note that there are a few outdoor tables that are great for lunchtime people watching! And, if you’re paying via credit card there’s a $ 6.50 minimum. Grazie, Luigi!

Gave this place a try due to a Groupon. The first time I went I loved it because the eggplant parm was freakin awesome. But then I found out that they have a rotating menu — which is great, but so far nothing has stood up to the eggplant parm. Pretty disappointed about that. I will keep going due to it’s convenient location, but I’m not going to get my hopes up every time. You know the other thing that really gets my goat? They make you buy bottled water. Seriously, what is that all about. I hardly ever buy soda when I’m at a restaurant and I do not feel like I should have to start. What does it take to get a soda dispenser that has a water option. Water costs pretty much nothing, just offer it. You know you have it on tap. Give me a cup with no ice and just tap water and I’ll be a happy camper.

There must be something said for a pizzeria who all speak Italian. This shop has odd hours for evening so I normally do not have a chance to try them out. I was walking by Saturday afternoon and stopped by for some pasta, however on Saturday there is no pasta. I thought it odd that they would not have their full menu since Saturday downtown is when you would get most of your business from hungry tourists. The service is like a lunch buffet where you can choose your items. There are traditional calzones, sandwiches, and pizzas that are premade for you to choose from. You can also have a whole pizza or pasta dish made to order. When I ordered my spinach feta Calzone they placed it in the oven for a few minutes and it came out perfectly toasty. My boyfriend got a huge Italian sandwich that got toasted too. The flavor of both items were very delicious. The cost of both items was a little to rich for me. I was a little peeved they would only give me bottle water and not let me order it from the fountain. For a quick Italian fix, that is slightly more flavorful then a regular pizzeria this is the place to stop.
