MidCity Buffet is fine. Not wonderful. Not terrible. Fine. The food seemed to be fresh, and I didn’t note any obvious sanitation problems. The sushi bar was pretty good. Not vast, but I liked the quality of the items on offer. For the most part, the items on the hot buffet were fairly bland. Even the items that are supposed to be spicy(Mongolian Beef and General Tso’s Chicken) were not. One standout item, in my opinion, was the vegetable rolls(not the big egg rolls but the smaller vegetable rolls). Although humble in appearance, these little rolls were packed with delightful flavor. The salad and dessert bars were pretty standard: bakery cookies, canned puddings, gelatin, etc. The exception was the sesame-coated peanuts. At other Chinese buffets, these sometimes taste rancid, but the ones here were fantastic. I would like to buy a bag to smuggle into Baxter Theater, which is on the other side of the same building.

I end up here every once in a while when Logan and I are starving, broke and needing a compromise. Logan gets a buffet, and I get Chinese food. There’s a few things here that I can eat about five plates of, the fried rice, the fried sweet corn bites, the honey chicken, the black pepper chicken, the ice cream, mini cakes, the fruits and sweet and sour chicken. And there’s a few things that just aren’t worth my time — the soups, any fish, crab, shrimp, wings, french fries, tater tots(just why do you have french fries and tots?), the very very sad salad bar, cookies and pudding. They do have a large selection of sushi that is kept on ice. I don’t eat sushi at buffets, but my partner, whom has never had food poisoning so still lives with no fear, eats it with abandon, and feels that its just fine, thinks its tasty enough. It’s hot and fresh at peak meal times, not as fresh during others. I see the staff stirring the dishes to ensure the correct temperatures and changing them out pretty frequently, so I don’t worry about the safety of the hot dishes too much. If you see something that looks like it needs a new batch or if its out, don’t hesitate to tell your server. The service is fast to clear your dishes and fill your glass, but other wise stays unseen, which is fine with me. For two during dinner with sodas the price is 23.00. Overall: I’ve never been a fan of buffets, but Logan is, so I tend to end up at them every so often. This is definitely not the worst choice. There’s plenty to fill you up, the place is clean, the food is relatively fresh and the service is quick and doesn’t mind refilling something for you, also the price is right for what you get. I don’t mind coming here.

You ever hear of the phrase«You get what you pay for»? Well that applies here. The price is dirt cheap. Which is pretty handy considering some foods actually tasted like dirt. Normally I’d complain about buffets not keep food hot, fresh, or available… but at this buffet they are doing you a favor by limiting your foods and getting you go to go on your merry way. I’ve read several reviews where people rave about their sushi. Well, I can only imagine those people have never had sushi before. Or maybe those reviewers own stock in MidCity Super Buffet? I’m completely offended that they have the nerve to use the word«Super» in their restaurant name. Unless of course«Super» was being used an an adjective as in «Super Horrible» or «Super Disappointing»… There are way too many buffet options in Louisville to justify ever going here. *Service was par but really hard to determine since the visit was brief. *The Fish Tank was so nasty I think new mutant were forming. Be Scared! *Literally half the food option spaces were just left empty. *Again, THISISNOTGOODSUSHI! *Where I can agree with some previous reviews is, bathroom trips were quick to follow.

My friends and I used to come here every Saturday as a precursor to our wild night out. This was a few years ago when I was in high school. I remember that we were always broke but we were all able to get a full plate and a full belly full of awesome Americanized Chinese food. I’m going to give it another visit and I’ll write a more recent review. I think it’s about time my daughter experienced a Chinese buffet. I feel like Chinese buffets were a constant when I was a kid.

My go to for Chinese buffet food. It’s not fantastic, mind you, but it’s definitely good enough. The sushi is pretty good, though again it is by no means phenomenal. I think the best way to describe this restaurant is that it’s solid. For the price it’s pretty good food, enough that you’ll come back when you have a craving.

I’m always excited when I walk in and think about all the goodies I can choose from, but by the time dinner is over my stomach hurts so bad it takes the rest of the day to get settled again. And after reading some of these reviews I am now realizing two things; my stomach isn’t the only one with this problem and two they must have a bug problem. Two reviews talk about roaches. The only reason I am giving two stars is because I didn’t die.

This place used to be my favorite restaurant and I would come here every weekend. I would’ve given it 5 stars for it’s amazing sushi, hot food, and dishes that stand out. The only thing is, the last time I went to eat there, a bug crawled into my food. Granted I was finished eating, but after I finished and was waiting on my boyfriend some type of bug similar to a roach or a water bug crawled onto my plate and I freaked out. I had never had this problem before, so maybe it was just a one time thing, but I haven’t had the courage to go back yet. At least the restaurant gave me my money back though. Besides that horrible experience, this has always been the BEST Asian buffet in Louisville, and I’ve been to them all. *Edit* I gave the Midcity Mall buffet another chance last night to redeem itself. This time around was better. The food was still amazing, there were no bugs, and it was an over all great experience. I’m pretty sure the one bug I saw last time was likely something a customer brought in. I really enjoyed my dinner last night and it was worth the $ 9.25 I paid. Changed from 3 to 5 stars.

When I’m looking for great service and good Chinese food I’ll be sure to skip this place. The waitresses were extremely lazy with doing their job. They sat at a table the whole time just talking to each other. When we asked for refills they would only fill our glass half way and one time she took our glasses to fill them up, came back and they still had the same amount of liquid in them. So she didn’t even bother filling them up. You only have one job and that’s to give us refills and she failed at that. On top of that the food was cold and the sushi bar looked very dirty. It’s hard to believe that this place has a 95 on their health score. I will never be coming back to this place.

This is THE hip n’ happnin’ place on a Saturday afternoon in the Highlands. There are at LEAST4 – 5 other people every time I go in here. It soaks up last nights gin so well that I’m only left with a food hangover! Try the General Tso’s — you won’t be disappointed. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because it was much superior when it was #1 Asian Buffet. Their crab rangoons were to die for! And they always had some class of dish with baby corns in it. And I’m not even going to touch on the subject of The Ice Cream Dip. I’m just going to say they could REALLY use a soft-serve machine, and leave it at that. The only decent alternative is sliced frozen off-brand Swiss Cake Rolls??? But I’d much rather walk in and see the gaudy crystalline ship and hear an oboe version of Hit Me Baby One More Time than be run over by carts carrying trays of crawfish heads and noodles or the toddler children of the workers at Jumbo Buffet!

You know it’s bad news when instructions to PUSH the door are written in 300 Helvetica. I started off sipping on a nice, flat tasting Coke, then scarfed down as much cardboard(read: chicken and shrimp) as possible. Thankfully, the waitress supplied me with extra napkins, which made for a wonderful dessert. The only thing«super» about this place is how quickly I run to the bathroom after eating. For the price, I should’ve eaten glue and drank Pepto Bismol.

DONOTEATHERE! The food was good as per the reviews, but when my friend and I got the check A COCKROACH scrambled across our table. NEVERAGAIN. If I could give it ZEROSTARS I would.

What’s not to love about a Chinese buffet? They have all the favorites, the food has always been fresh, and according to one close friend, their sushi is the best buffet sushi in town. If you’re in a rush and cant stay for the buffet they offer pay by the pound to-go boxes. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food I can get into a $ 5 box.

Good variety buffet. Refreshed often during lunch. Perplexed about hot tea. They gave me an oversized teapot with one LIPTON teabag. Very Strange! Will have to ask about oolong or Jasmine tea options next time.

Yes, it is still a generic Chinese buffet with no particular standout items. But their lunch is just $ 6.50. The food was fresh. When compared to Jumbo or Hibachi, they seem to have a lighter hand with the salt shaker. And I like their hot and sour soup. So, yes, I recommend this place.

Great Buffet including Sushi. Very good selection. So what Kevin G. got a bad piece of chicken, it happens. The service was good and when asked for spicy mayo for my sushi they were quick to bring me some.
