The biggest, most delicious sushi rolls in Louisville. Prices are fair, especially considering how filling the food is. I would give the place five stars, but service has been inconsistent and it is constantly VERY crowded and loud. The sushi here is wonderful and everyone knows it, so parking is always hassle. Overall, it is an awesome restaurant, but I’d like to see an expanded, more comfortable dining area.

I hate that I’m writing a bad review but truthfully I’ve never been so frustrated over sushi. Ive heard good things about Oishii before and so we decided to give it a try and I am severely disappointed. When we arrived, there was no parking. Eventually we found a spot and went inside. It was very crowded but it felt dirty. And it was dirty because my shoe literally got stuck to the floor it was so sticky. Eventually we got sat though we never had a proper server. There was a combination of three ladies that rotated talking to us. None were rude, none were especially nice either. Whatever, it happens, on to the food… Once we got our dishes not only did they arrive at random and on completely separate plates(poor dishwasher in the back must have so much extra and unnecessary work) but our multiple servers must have never spoken with each other because we got served other people’s food. Speaking of that food, I have never in my life seen such poorly prepared sushi. I’ve eaten at easily over six sushi places in the city, innumerable places around the world, even sushi from a train station… This is by far the worst quality. The fish seemed fresh but my maguro nigiri must have been at least half a tuna steak on top of a pinch of vinegary, watery rice. My roll wasn’t actually a roll… More of a weird cube thing that fell apart when it when it was picked up. Truthfully it wasn’t bad quality ingredients, just was abysmally prepared and executed. When we expressed to our servers we didn’t like what was served, they did nothing. Needless to say I will never go back. Actually, I will actively encourage people to visit other sushi restaurants in the city.

With out question, the best sushi in Louisville. Huge rolls, extensive menu and reasonable prices. My fiancé and I eat here at least twice a month!

Oishii Sushi is the best value sushi restaurant in Louisville. Prices are average and range from $ 4-$ 14 per roll. The sushi rolls are fresh, tasty, and huge. Oishii understands the large American appetite and caters to it. I’d recommend getting 1 – 2 rolls per person and no more than 3 rolls per couple. During my last visit, my boyfriend and I ordered 4 rolls and 2 pieces of nigiri, and we were so stuffed that we couldn’t finish all the sushi. I don’t have a favorite roll. Every time I go, I try something new because there are so many choices. Oishii is always popping. I recommend getting here as early as you can to dine in. If you come late(i.e., regular dinner time), be prepared to wait. Service is quick, so I’ve usually been in and out in a short amount of time. The parking is sparse. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Will return.

I have to confess that I became addicted to the ginger dressing that they use for the salad. I buy it to go in a small container for $ 5. It makes ANY salad taste great. :-)

Hands down the freshest, most unique sushi in Louisville! They don’t skimp on the roll size either, as they build up the rolls so much they resemble food art; you won’t leave there hungry.

Worst service. How many times do I have to ask for water? Apparently the answer is 5. Brought us the wrong rolls, then proceeded to pick them up and drop them off at the table next to us. Can you say health code violation!!! Fish was most ok, but we did not see our waitress after ordering until we got the check. Will never be back.

Best Japanese restaurant in town~ Everyone knows Japanese food are not cheap. But here I’ll said its worth the money(I’m a student= no money.) They sure do know how to make you happy, when you see the thick fat roll on the plate~ And of course you can just see how busy they are to tell how good they are^^ But food is worth the wait~

I did not expect to be writing a bad review tonight and am disappointed that I had to do it. I always heard good things about Oishii, but our experience didn’t live up to it. First off they don’t have a ton of parking. The lot is not well lit and kind of dingy. The building is strange — It’s not really what you would expect of a restaurant. The atmosphere was lacking and very boring. We walked in. And it was clearly very crowded. We thought we might skip the wait and order to go. Being newbies here and not knowing better, that was obviously wrong. I stood back by the pick up counter waiting for the lady working there to acknowledge me. She completely ignored my attempts to signal her. Finally I just had to yell and ask for the wait time. It was over an hour. We decided we might as well just eat there. We asked the hostess how long the wait was. She said 5 – 7 minutes. It didn’t seem right, but I figured it may end up being closer to 15 but that was ok with us. 30 minutes later we were still waiting. The bad part was that there’s not a true waiting area so you’re awkwardly standing in the middle of the restaurant staring at people that are eating. We were trying to be patient but we saw the hostess seat 2 couples that came in after us. We finally spoke up and she said«yes, you’re next». A little while later I heard another couple ask how much longer and she said«you’re next». ??? Finally, another 5 – 10 minutes later she seats us. The restaurant was so crowded and all the tables were so close together that we could barely get to our tables. We were practically eating with strangers. There were only about 2 inches between tables. It was so crowded that the waiters couldn’t get to the tables and made us pass each other food. We placed our orders and waited. It was at least 30 minutes and we still hadn’t gotten our food when the table next to us(who was seated after us) go their rolls. I asked our waitress how much longer on our order and she said«soon». 15 minutes later we still had no food and she came over to say«soon okay guys». I was very frustrated at this point because it was clear to me that they would tell you whatever you want to hear to keep you happy, even if it was a lie. Finally after nearly an hour wait, they brought our order. The food was good and the only reason I didn’t give this review a 1 star. The rolls were humongous, which I didn’t get from all the pictures. I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I ordered. I mean, they were big! The problem was that they weren’t built well and every piece fell apart. It was extremely hard to eat. I don’t think it tasted as good either because you didn’t get all the flavors in one bite. I will say, the Oishii roll was our favorite. It was closer to what I’d consider a normal size but still very respectable. It was the only roll that didn’t break apart when you picked it up. You get a lot for your money, that’s a sure thing. But you don’t need nearly as many rolls. We typically order 3 or 4 rolls and split them. We ordered 4 rolls this time and could not finish them. I think they could solve a lot of issues by expanding or getting another location. They were poorly organized and not well staffed. The phone was ringing off the hook and no one was answering it. I felt like there were sales opportunities slipping by left and right. They are obviously a popular place, but because of their poor service and«just okay but expensive» rolls, we won’t be back.

Got the Volcano Roll. It was huge! I have never gotten full, on one shared sushi roll, until I had this roll. There is such a huge mound of spicy crab, on top, you can’t believe it. Even though we were full, we had ordered the Wasabi Roll, and it couldn’t go to waste. Although it was not very wasabi-y, it was delicious. The tuna, on top, was melt in your mouth fresh. I ordered hot tea and it came out, in a little tea pot, which I like. It seems to stay hot that way. They only have green tea. Service is OK. The décor is nothing special. Like most good sushi, it is not inexpensive, but really not bad; our rolls were around $ 14. The ginger salad was very good. It was not crowded, at lunchtime, but had a good amount of people. This is sushi worth going back for.

I feel like Jerry Maguire when I think of Oishii Sushi. I want to look each roll I order in the eye(metaphorically) and say«You complete me». I love it that much. It’s not an understatement to say I could eat Oishii everyday for the rest of my life and die happy. I know there are a lot of sushi spots in Lou. I’ve tried most of them. There are some really great options too, but for me nothing can top Oishii. The fish is super fresh and the rolls are ginormous. The prices are much less than some other restaurants too. On my last visit I had the Green roll and the California roll. Normally I get two when I go so I can take some home and enjoy it later. The Green roll was perfection! I sometimes order the Green Wasabi roll, but it’s not on the menu anymore. It is the biggest roll I’ve ever had at any sushi restaurant and it does not disappoint! The parking situation can be a bit dicey, but I’m not complaining about walking a few blocks if it leads to the best sushi around! It’s usually packed on a Friday or Saturday night, but the service is always very good too.

Normally I love the food here. And as always the sushi was delicious. However, we only received half our order, never received a refill on our drinks, and when I mentioned the service and not receiving our food to the manager he just walked away and asked the server where our order was. He never addressed me. I gave up and sat back down. We left and I called the place and asked for a manager. I was startled to find out that the same person that had just walked away from me was the manager. I very politely told him again how bad our service was, he said«I don’t know what you want me to say.» He never apologized. And then stated, «she got busy with a different table and didn’t make it back to you guys.» I am appalled at the level of service at this place. I love the food but we were treated in such a rude and disrespectful manner that I will never return there.

Crazy Eel with spicy tuna, avocado and Eel was utter perfection! Firecracker, very reasonably priced, with spicy crab, shrimp tempura, avocado and mango surpassed my expectations. Edamame was hot and salty and salad with ginger dressing hit the spot. Add a couple of beers and the meal was perfect on this Wednesday night. I upped stars to 4 as they deserved it tonight!

This restaurant has always been my favorite sushi joint in Louisville, ever since it opened. I used to detest sushi. I wouldn’t eat it. My friend took me to Oishii Sushi when it was still on Bardstown road and convinced me to step outside of my comfort zone. I even remember the name of the roll that turned my world upside down: the Crunch Shrimp Roll. To an experienced sushi eater it might not be anything special, but to me it is everything I have always wanted in a roll! First off, I love shrimp. This roll also has crunchy cucumber strips, roe, tempura chips, and eel sauce. So it is both sweet, cool, and crunchy. I love it! Very simple and very satisfying. To this day, it is still my go to roll. In fact, I got it during my visit this evening. I came with two friends around 6:30 and the parking lot wasn’t even full. It was a little slow inside, which is unusual to me because every time I have come, it has been packed. Service was very quick and efficient. We got waters, filled out our sheets specifying what we wanted to eat(I got miso soup, a ginger dressing salad, chicken fried rice, and a crunch shrimp roll– don’t judge me! I was hungry). One thing that I want to mention is that Oishii is not a place you go to socialize with the waitress. They seem more concerned about being quick and efficient rather than getting to know their customers. I understand why that is because I have seen how busy they get– however, I have to deduct a star for that. Other than that, everything is great. One thing I love about this restaurant is the consistency. The food is consistently FANTASTIC! They did raise their prices a little, but they remain pretty reasonable compared to other sushi joints in town. Anyway, on to the food. Not much to report about the soup and salad. The miso soup was hot and delicious and the salad was… well, ginger-y! My crunch shrimp roll was wonderful, as always, and if you are ever on the fence about getting the chicken fried rice, go for it. I’m a weirdo for saying this, but I totally love that they put pieces of corn in it! My bill this evening came to around $ 20, which I find to be pretty affordable considering the fact that I left with a full belly. Thanks, Oishii sushi! You know I’ll be back :)

Oishii is a safe choice for sushi, but neither the menu or the location is very inspiring. I’m giving it three stars because it was average(I would give it a C+ if this was its report card). The house salad and Crunch Munch roll I had during a recent lunch were fairly satisfying and served promptly. But, I didn’t leave wanting to immediately review or share photos with friends. Nothing made Oishii stand out in my mind. The Taylorsville Rd location is nondescript, I even drove past it the first time I visited. The interior is open concept with a sushi counter against one side and several TVs mounted on opposite walls. The noise level can be quite loud during busy times. Two of us ordered house salads and the other went for edamame. The salads were the typical iceberg lettuce with ginger dressing. The edamame was a sizable bowl of warm pods with salt. Tasted fine — nothing special. One colleague got her spider roll several minutes before the rest of us. The other two rolls came out at the same time, thankfully. The sushi was cut large and had a good portion of ingredients. I thought the spicy crab in my dish was somewhat bland compared to same roll at other local spots. Again, food was as described, but not exceptional. We had originally chosen Dragon King’s Daughter for lunch, but they were closed(as it was a Tues). We opted for Oishii as it was near by and open for lunch. With a tab around $ 15 per person, the meal was filling, but it didn’t come close to DKD. With so many sushi places in Louisville, I don’t see me choosing Oishii again soon.

My favorite sushi place! I have been an Oishii lover for approximately 7 years now, going back to when a few of my friends and I discovered the old Bardstown road location in high school. It has never disappointed me! I tend to be drawn to the fruity rolls(the happy roll, aloha roll, Hawaiian roll, Oishii roll, palm beach roll, and highland roll have all treated me well). The Derby Roll seems like it has everything you could possibly put in a sushi roll in it. It is HUGE and delicious and nearly impossible to eat with chopsticks(but that’s a fun challenge for yourself, haha). The ginger salad is great here, and I like to save my leftover dressing to dip my sushi in(the fruity rolls pair well with the ginger dressing!). Love love love Oishii!

I think this is the best value for money to be found on the L’ville sushi scene(which, to be fair, isn’t much of a scene), particularly if rolls are your thing. The menu of oddly-named and randomly categorized maki is a little overwhelming, so parsing the offerings to figure out what you might want take awhile, but everything I’ve tried has been fresh, tasty, and ample. I also like the convenient location across from Bowman Field, where parking and traffic are not likely to be an issue. And then there’s the $ 1 sake on Tuesday nights…

I love this place. Love, love! They’ve recently expanded and it was a much needed thing. Tons of space to serve many more sushi lovers. And the cool thing? Quality and time is not effected by this expansion. Our sushi still came super quick on a busy night. $ 1 sake night even! They never fail to deliver. Great quality and super friendly on the budget … a complete win, win. We ordered sake, Kirin, green tea, 5 rolls, and two sashimi orders: all for $ 68 bucks. Everything was fresh and so delicious and I can’t wait until my next sushi fix … Because I definitely know where I’m going

After 6 months of being in Louisville, I finally made it here. I live less than a mile away and I heard this place was great, so I was excited school was out and I could visit. So, I ordered two rolls — the 2 in 1 and the crunchy(possibly crispy) roll. I was alone so I sat at the sushi bar. Place was packed, so I was excited. Unfortunately… I wasn’t that impressed. Idk if I chose poorly or if they are overly thrilled about their eel sauce, but both my rolls were drenched. So much so they didn’t hold together after one bite. This disappointed me because I always bite once then dip in my soy sauce mix. Now, the overall taste of the rolls were good, but the sweet eel sauce was just too much for my pallette. Did I mention the flies? Now I am Caribbean and I know fish attracts flies, but the flies/nats made my experience annoying. I would like to try them again, but no guarantee.
